I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

I'm in. I found out I'm pregnant with my first baby on Christmas eve. I've been messing around for months but now I've not just got me to look after have I? I've got a little lentil in my tummy which needs love and goodness. Hoping this helps me focus. Planning on doing a lot of walking and swimming and going back to using myfitnesspal x

kally195 · 28/12/2016 09:01

Me me me! I have a good 40lbs of fat to lose. I'm going to use MFP to log absolutely everything (combined with healthy meal planning and scheduled cheat days). We've invested in a rowing machine, and I'm doing the lunch hour training programme. As soon as our local swimming pool has its roof fixed, I'll be back swimming. I'll be listening to my fitbit when it tells me to get up and move.

Going to buy decent scales to track progress and do measurements, as hopefully I will build some decent muscle as well.

I won't be going back to slimming world - it's great that it works for some people, but not for me. Our group seems to consist solely of the leader reading out how everyone has done and then trying to get us all to buy the slimming world ready meals and branded low fat sugar filled yoghurts. Oh, and telling us all not to exercise as our muscles will retain water. Rant over :)

TheHighPriestessOfTinsel · 28/12/2016 09:04

ooh, yes please. I have a terrible problem with comfort eating. I haven't been on the scales for a while, but reckon I'm about 12 st 4 ish. My fighting weight is 10 and a half stone, but as an interim goal 11st would do.

badgercat · 28/12/2016 10:07

Just a suggestion, rather than focusing on the scales make sure you take before pictures and accurate measurements, some of you may find (like me) the scales are the last thing to show progress and it can be really disappointing to see no change.

InteriorLulu · 28/12/2016 10:52

I've got around 3.5 stones to lose before my sister's wedding at the end of April. I'd be happy with 2 stone though.

Previously very successful using WW - got to goal and kept it off, then they changed to propoints, which didn't sit well and I've gradually gained double the weight I lost since then. Tried smartpoints, but felt so hungry and deprived that I had to stop.

I've dug out all my old WW stuff and I'm starting on 2 January. I'll pop into meetings from time to time, just to get an 'official' weight, but mostly I'll be doing it myself.

My health has suffered due to the weight I'm carrying - I have an hiatus hernia and obstructive sleep apnoea (which means I'm on CPAP at night, how attractive). I've also suffered depression and anxiety, which hasn't helped with the weight.

I'm bloody fed up of carrying it around....and this past week hasn't helped either. I've enjoyed the food and the drink but I don't want this to continue to be my way of life.

I agree with taking photos and measurements. Sometimes the loss doesn't show on the scales, especially if you're exercising too.

For the record (and to make myself accountable) I'm 5'4" and 13st 10lbs, BMI 33 (eek!). My goal is 10st 4lbs. I weighed exactly this 12 years ago, just after the birth of DD.

LiquoriceWheel · 28/12/2016 11:20

I need to lose 2 stones. ChickenVindaloo2 I found that when I was religious about paying off my debt that weight loss discipline soon followed as well. I've relaxed on the debt repayments and have become fatter as a result! How weird is that?! I'm going to start tomorrow. I planned on going for a run today, but instead ate 6 donuts, half a pizza and drank half a bottle of wine. Good Grief! BUT I bought new gym clothes today and am excited to exercise TOMORROW. Ok Liquorice?! TOMORROW!!!

GlitterandSequins · 28/12/2016 11:30

Me too please!

Back on it from today as I have gained 4lb since Christmas eve and I get married in 8 weeks!!

Plan is to eat less (calorie counting using my fitness pall) and move more.

1st Goal - 8lb off to get me to the lowest I will have been in about 3 years!

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 28/12/2016 11:41

Good idea badger

BroomstickOfLove · 28/12/2016 15:11

Right. I will weigh and measure myself and take pictures tomorrow.

I want to do this slowly, which I feel will be more sustainable long-term, and which will have me space to tackle emotion and binge eating without having to become too restrictive around food, which I know from experience is likely to lead to binging. I have around 5 stone to lose, so I will plan to lose 3 stone this year, and the rest the year after. This means that I have up until the end of April to lose the first stone.

My plan is:

Exercise: an hour of Crossfit three times a week (on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday).
Walk 90,000 steps a week.
Take up yoga using Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube.

Food: Follow No-S plan (no sweets, snacks or seconds, apart from on days beginning with S).

Mind: Tackle emotional eating with the Shrink Yourself Programme.
Work on accepting myself and forgiving myself when I make mistakes.

Eebahgumlass · 28/12/2016 16:58

I'd like to join please - want to lose at least a stone and a half. Planning to cut down on booze, use MFP and do HIit workout every day as well as much walking as possible. Good luck everyone.

badgercat · 28/12/2016 17:25

I'm a massive fan of Bad Yogi - Erin Motz. Tons of free videos on YouTube including 30 day start up challenges. Really clear easy to follow videos !

GreenBudgie · 28/12/2016 19:55

Back to work today which removed the opportunity to hoover up Xmas leftovers. Food today has been wholemeal bread with fruit and seeds, egg and veg, reheated turkey with stuffing and veg. Will do some squats tonight. At 50 years old, I am slap in the middle of the 40-60 group of which 80% eat and /or drink too much. I want to stay one of the 20% and be a good example to the grand children. Best wishes to all.

GabbySolis · 28/12/2016 22:32

Me too please! Still got two stone of baby weight to lose, baby is now three months old!

sweetkitty · 28/12/2016 22:38

Count me in as well have put on almost a stone since being diagnosed with fibromyalgia and starting medication for it which increases appetite.

Starting veganuary on the 1st Jan and cutting out sugar hopefully.

Another problem is I can't do much exercise I've started yoga with Adrienne and walking the dog bit high intensity stuff is impossible.

luckybee123 · 29/12/2016 08:23

Hi Ladies! I would love to join as well.
Gabby I still have a few stone to loose and my baby is 2 haha.
I am going to do the 5:2 diet is anyone else doing that?
I love the idea of the No S diet!
Good luck to us all in 2017 Smile

IhatchedaSnorlax · 29/12/2016 09:53

I'd love to do no sugar, but wouldn't have a clue how - surely sugar is in pretty much everything?

Rockchick1984 · 29/12/2016 12:04

I'm in! I'm 5 stone heavier than pre kids Blush but this year I am aiming for a total of 70lb weight loss as I never exercised before having children and I want to have some muscle now so I know I won't weigh as little as I used to.

Has anyone tried the 21 day fix? It looks like a good way to kick start myself into eating healthier, I feel I have lost all sense of what normal food and portions are Sad

LadyMaryofDownt0n · 29/12/2016 12:13

Today's my start day. I've just came off a 12 hr night shift & ive nothing to eat in the house. Need to do an online shop now. Starting at 12st 2, need to loose 2 stone as am just getting bigger every year.

IhatchedaSnorlax · 29/12/2016 12:21

What's the 21 day fix?

Rockchick1984 · 29/12/2016 12:47

This is the basic gist of it, there's loads online about it though. 30 mins exercise each day and portion control basically Smile

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 29/12/2016 21:24

Placemarking for a January start. Got a Fitbit for Christmas, have a family's photo shoot in April and a family wedding in July so lots of motivation - just need the willpower!

ButterfliesRfree · 30/12/2016 07:23

I hope people are coming back here in January. I'm still keen but haven't properly started yet. Not long now.

SpaghettiMeatballs · 30/12/2016 07:34

Me.... I put on a stone last year and I already needed to lose a stone last January so now it's two stone. Blush

Limurz · 30/12/2016 07:57

I started a food diary yesterday, just ti make me a little more mindful of what and when I am eating. Will start properly on 2 Jan, but feel like I am paving the way over the next few days. Actually feeling motivated and excited about this!
