I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

Well done on the losses everyone! Hope you feel better today Twattery.

A couple of slips up here at the weekend (largely involving onion rings) but am getting back on track now, so hopefully the scales will still show a loss this week.

TwatteryFlowers · 23/01/2017 14:39

Feeling better today, thank you. I must have just been really tired or something because I slept about 13 hours on Saturday night, had an early-ish night last night (though I kept waking up) and went back to bed for a few hours after everyone left this morning. I'm currently sitting in Costa with a cup of tea and a goats' cheese panini.

Weighed in this aft: 9st 2.4 down by just over 1lb since Friday and 2st 2lb altogether in about 6 months.

Well done everyone on your losses - 1.5" is great sock and snorfig!

toffeeboffin · 23/01/2017 14:45

Not going too bad here considering its January and all I want is double carbs!

Had a brownie at weekend which DH and DS made, and one small glass of wine.

Also had lasagne but it was a small portion and the sauce was very lentil heavy so not too horrendously calorific. Could have eaten twice the amount really though.

Been having porridge for breakfast, massive bowl of lentil and veg soup and a big salad for lunch. Made a pork casserole for dinner on Saturday which we had with lots of veg and rice.

Trying to have at least one meal per day light on carbs - usually lunch. Also not been snacking at all.

Still not been weighed but feel lighter, so surely that counts for something GrinHmm

I love your username!

JacquelineChan · 23/01/2017 15:51

well done to all on your weight loss !

Toffee I am doing similar to you , soup salad , cut down on carbs etc . ( I am a carb monster so me cutting down is probably every body else's normal ! )

i did 5k on the bike at lunchtime and walking to and from nursery twice a day.

I am sleeping better , more deeply and waking up refreshed . I think it might be down to cutting out all the rubbish in my diet , it really was disgusting , crisps, takeaways, biscuits , children's leftovers and a glass of wine every night .

I am doing fortnightly weigh ins

Dizzywizz · 24/01/2017 06:25

Well done on the losses!

I lost 0.25lb this wk, not very happy with it but dh said the main thing is it's a loss, which I suppose is true. I do well jn he week, dh works long hours, but the weekend it all goes to pot - takeaways, junk food... I really need to speak to dh and get a handle on it next weekend.

Faries · 24/01/2017 10:29

I've still not lost anything. 1 pound keeps coming and going since early Jan but I have made lifestyle changes (HIIT class twice a week and bringing lunch into work) which will make me healthier in the end. That's what I keep telling myself.

I'm hoping to lose 1.5 stones by August. I'm hoping that's still viable.

Faries · 24/01/2017 10:29

Well done to everyone who have lost!! Smile

LiefieLiefie · 24/01/2017 12:15

Hoping I can join! I lost and kept off 10kg last year. I'm at a healthy BMI - currently 70.9kg but I look my best at around 64-65kg.

Looking to lose another 6kg and also increase my fitness. I have a pretty stressful year coming up, coupled with moving back in with my parents who are feeders, so my willpower will be tested!

Has anyone had any success with any home exercise videos?

CancellyMcChequeface · 24/01/2017 12:43

GreenBudgie thank you for your kind words on the last page! I've been distracting myself with a cup of tea and a book when I get the flapjack cravings, and it's helped some! I've also prepared and frozen batches of soups and stews so that when I'm stressed I have something quick and effortless - but healthy - to eat.

My scale is still stubbornly stuck but since my period is due in a day or two I'm not too worried about it.

No loss this week, but 9lbs down in total, which isn't bad considering I started just after Christmas.

KitKat1985 · 24/01/2017 13:01

Welcome Liefie!

Cancelly 9lb off since Christmas is brilliant!

I'm doing so-so today. I had healthy wholemeal cereal but far too large a portion really. I have also just eaten some chocolate buttons. Am meeting a friend this afternoon at her house. She usually always provides / makes cake for our catch ups but I'm determined to decline (which I'm hoping she doesn't take offence at).

Dizzywizz · 24/01/2017 20:15

McDonald's today 😰😰 only a happy meal but then 2 cookies, about 10 marshmallows...just going to write today off

HandsomeDevil · 24/01/2017 21:04

we've been out for dinner
too much chinese. Again.
If I can maintain this week I'll be happy.

TwatteryFlowers · 24/01/2017 22:55

I had a snickers and a packet of crisps yesterday, as well as my normal meals, and today I have had two snickers bars! Ooops! Tomorrow is another day and all that...

Dizzywizz · 25/01/2017 06:33

looks like a few of us struggled yesterday. Moving on...

JacquelineChan · 25/01/2017 10:01

I have struggled to fit any exercise in ! DP been looking after his mum at her house ( she had an op ) so I have had sole care of DS and I guess just laziness after work and picking him up from nursery just sat in front of the tv (or on mumsnet ! ) so yes that is a bad excuse .

my food intake has not been too terrible so relying on that.

DS home with me this afternoon and we are potty training so tied to the house , I will do some exercise when he is in bed.

JacquelineChan · 25/01/2017 10:15

for everyone that feels bad about eating too much or the wrong things , we do deserve a weekly treat !
so get back on the wagon for the next 7 days then treat yourselves again

(that's my story and I'm sticking to it lol )

InteriorLulu · 25/01/2017 18:11

Weigh in day is always treat day here....well, after I've faced the scales.

After my half pound gain last week I reassessed what I have been doing and focused more on eating healthily. I have drifted off plan - there was a pizza and I did have pudding and custard on another day, but then again I was on my knees as I was so hungry! I have been used to eating every hour or so, so it's going to take time to get used to the reduction in food!

Anyway, a week largely on track and I lost 3.5lb. Today I got the top button of my jeans done up. But now I'm really hungry and have already had some cheese. I won't beat myself up but I will track it and move on.

GreenBudgie · 25/01/2017 20:33

Hi Folks :-). Nice work Lulu, you nailed it, diets don't stop working, we stop working on them. Get the intake/ output balance right and the body fat decreases. McChequeface, that is such a positive approach, planning to succeed, rather than giving in after a fail day. I am keeping on, keeping on , down a pound. I am really enjoying my weight training, I have colly wobble legs from developing tonight. Best wishes to all, keep posting, I can't do this without your support.

didireallysaythat · 25/01/2017 20:43

May I join you ? I kinda slipped into a diet after weighing myself on January 1st for the first time in at least 6 months, not being as horrified as I thought I would be, trying to think more about what I eat and then weighing myself a week later just to see. I've kept on doing the same and I'm 9lb down so far. I know that I'll need to start writing food down soon to keep on losing week on week and I'd love to fit some exercise in next month perhaps.... But what I need is your collective will power to help me stick to it. Oh, and recipes for soups !

ludog · 25/01/2017 21:53

It took me a while to get started but I'm 10 days in following lchf and I've lost 3 pounds and feeling motivated. I lost two stone with this plan a few years ago but put it back on so hopefully I can lose it and keep it off this time. I really find it harder as I get older to lose weight but t with a history of type 2 diabetes iny family I really need to get a handle on it once and for all.

JacquelineChan · 26/01/2017 10:55

i am going to try and do 5k in the bike at lunchtime or go for a walk ... as long as it does not snow !
I did some serious sit ups yesterday....

KitKat1985 · 26/01/2017 15:15

Welcome didIreallysaythat

And well done everyone on your losses / exercise.

So overall I've been pretty well behaved this week, but did treat myself to lunch out today. In my defence me and DH don't get many opportunities to have lunch out together anymore (I think the last time was about 3 months ago)! We ended up in Las Iguanas. I didn't go too overboard - a veggie burrito with salad, a virgin pina colada (was driving) and two churros with caramel dip. Definitely not a diet lunch but it could have worse. I did decline nibbles / starter and the pudding actually involved more churros but I shared with DH so only ate two. Will try and have a lighter evening meal today so it balances out.

Two days until next weigh-in!

TwatteryFlowers · 26/01/2017 16:31

Does anyone else put a pound or three on when their period starts? I know I had quite a bit of chocolate the other day but that's surely not enough to gain 3lb in half a week?!

I try to stay motivated and tell myself that this is a lifestyle change rather than a diet and that I can fall off the wagon so long as I quickly get back on it again, as well as consoling myself that despite the occasional gain the general trend is downwards but I feel a bit crappy.

Back on it today though with fruit and full day yoghurt for breakfast, an egg mayo sarnie for dinner, some nuts as a snack and will be having broccoli bake with some fish and new potatoes for tea. No chocolate has passed my lips at all today!

TwatteryFlowers · 26/01/2017 16:34

Full fat yoghurt

My phone's keyboard doesn't seem to work properly on number for some reason - it's lagging quite a bit and I can be at the end of the sentence but it is still only typing the beginning. Going back to correct it is sometimes impossible!
