I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

Falling off the wagon tonight. It's always a recipe for disaster when you don't plan ahead ! DP out at meetings all day and I've been super busy. DS has his tea at my mums on weds so didn't have to organise that. Now its tea time for us I just bunged sausage and chips in the oven !
Thinking ahead I've got some chicken marinading in the fridge so tomorrow night we'll have that with couscous and veg

JacquelineChan · 18/01/2017 19:06

I did 5k on the bike earlier so hopefully that goes some way to making up for it

GreenBudgie · 18/01/2017 19:44

Welcome Ali :-). Forgive yourself and learn from it Jacqui, you are spot on, if you plan for good it helps stop it going bad.....but you can't plan for everything, every day. I have changed my breakfast to all bran, yoghurt and seeds to keep things moving. Lunch was chicken ,salad and bread, managed to avoid eating biscuits during a 4 hour meeting, purely because I knew I had a nicer lunch waiting in the fridge. Dinner was steamed veg and sardines. Good luck to all and keep posting.

I always seem to fall off the wagon when I don't plan my meals or something happens so we can't have our planned meal. Going to the supermarket when hungry is my biggest problem, especially when you have to walk past the remainder of the Christmas chocs and the new Easter ranges. I think for me it's being able to have one small bar or piece of chocolate rather than a massive sharing bag!

When I do eat loads in one day, I tend to add some of it to the next few days' page on my diary so that I'm almost forced to eat a bit less (like 100-200 fewer cals per day) for a short time in order to make up for it. I don't see it as lying to myself; I see it as balancing it out!

People are starting to notice and make comments now, saying how much thinner and better I look and this is great for my motivation and determination. I know that the ultimate goal is to be healthier on the inside but it doesn't hurt to look a bit more attractive!

JacquelineChan · 18/01/2017 21:41

Thanks ladies. Twattery I think if you feel healthier you feel more confident and that in turn makes you feel attractive. Well done to all.
This is such a positive page it is giving us all a boost !

I love Black Mirror too, Jacqueline!

I had a bit of an awful day today. Flapjacks and then tofu fried rice from the takeaway. Tasted really good, but my scale won't thank me in the morning. Sad I need to find something that isn't food to cheer myself up after bad days - comfort eating is probably how I put most of the weight on in the first place!

JacquelineChan · 19/01/2017 12:54

Been angelic today ... so far
Breakfast was 2 slices of wholemeal toast with flora light .
mid morning snack - raw carrot
just finished lunch , small jacket potato with sardines.
I am going to do 5k on the bike in a bit.
Tonight i have chicken and couscous with veg . I really am going to try and weigh myself soon !
we don't have scales at home ( I would end up weighing myself constantly ) but going into town tomorrow so will do it then

KitKat1985 · 19/01/2017 13:15

Cancel my last message. DH got home really late yesterday (meaning I was late starting dinner as I rely on him being home and looking after the DDs whilst I cook), and frankly after managing all day with a fluey type bug and a grumpy baby and hyperactive toddler I couldn't face the veg prep I needed to do a healthy cottage pie, so ended up cooking and eating frozen shit from the freezer with baked beans. Hmm Was aiming to do some veg prep today whilst the toddler was at nursery, but she's clearly picked up my bug and has been sent home with a temp of 38.8 and is a virtual snot fountain, and I am still suffering with the same bug, so I don't think it's going to be the best day ever diet wise again. So far though I've had cereal for breakfast; and a vegetable and cheese wrap for lunch, with grapes and a low fat yogurt, so it's not been horrendous.

JacquelineChan · 19/01/2017 13:49

kit kat i also had shit with beans last night Grin

Just concentrate on getting better and looking after your little ones , I hope you all feel better soon . It's not a race , look after yourself

I've been having mega choc cravings today. Manager bought massive cookies so had one of those and just having some Milky Way magic stars while waiting for ds1 who is at swimming. Dinner should be ok as I put jacket potatoes in the slow cooker at lunch.

Kit Kat yes concentrate on getting better. Healthy food will help though, do you have any jacket potatoes to maybe swop the chips for?

GreenBudgie · 19/01/2017 21:57

My chequE face, I feel your frustration, I can trough a tray a cheap supermarket flapjack on a bad day when I am eating my emotions. Forgive and learn. Start the next day with a food plan and use the knowledge of what went wrong on the bad day to make most days good. My distractions from food are a warm drink, a walk or a good book and time to think stuff through. KatKat, hunker down and concentrate on getting everyone well. My day went to plan, I am trying to get a mix of fat, protein and carbs in every meal to keep my blood sugar level. Best wishes to all.

JacquelineChan · 20/01/2017 12:41

Kit kat how are you all feeling ?

I weighed myself this morning. ... I've lost 6 lb .... I thought it was more . I am pleased with 6 lb and healthy bmi 23.7 but my clothes fit so much better and my belly has shrunk so much I was expecting more. I'm 9 St 8 now

JacquelineChan · 20/01/2017 12:43

That doesn't sound heavy I know but I'm little so prone to looking chunky. Can't stop thinking about my youth when I was 8 St 7 Confused

TwatteryFlowers · 20/01/2017 13:52

Last time I weighed in, on the 16th, I was 9st4.8. I have weighed again today and I am 9st3.8.
Don't feel guilty or that you have to explain yourself Jacqueline.

I'm 5'1.5", weigh 9st3.8 and have a bmi of 24.0 so I too am relatively slim now but it's not just overweight people who need to change their lifestyles.

6lb is almost half a stone and would perhaps have put you at the top end of healthy when you started and, if you'd have carried on in your old ways, would very quickly lead you then into the overweight category. I see nothing wrong with wanting to change your eating habits, nipping weight gain in the bud before it becomes a problem and staying healthy; I wish I had done the same thing a year ago.

Exactly 2 years ago on my facebook memory thing I was bragging about fitting into size 10s again after having lost a similar amount of weight to what I have now but it went straight back on again after having my gallbladder out. This time, I'm determined to carry on eating a healthier and more balanced diet with smaller portions and fewer calories (around 14-1500) until my weight reaches a natural plateau and then keep it off.

You're doing well, keep it up Brew

JacquelineChan · 20/01/2017 14:25

Thanks Twattery , it means a lot . And yes , it is more of a lifestyle change really as I know you can get fat around your organs and arteries even if to the outside world you seem relatively normal sized. I was eating crisps, biscuits and processed food every single day!

I also get really stressed out easily and the exercise bike and yoga have helped me with that.

Ouch - gallbladder - that can be painful, I hope you have made a full recovery.

I think I will have that cuppa now Brew

KitKat1985 · 20/01/2017 15:32

Well done Jacqueline and Twattery! If it makes you all feel better you are all slimmer than me as my BMI is 27. My goal weight of 10 stone gives me a BMI of about 23 which is about right for me I think.

My weigh in tomorrow. [gulp] My jeans seem to be fitting better though so I'm hopeful! I've definitely broken the snacking on sugary crap habit though, which is where most of my pregnancy weight gain came from, so I'm pleased about that.

Feeling a bit brighter today thanks, and DD2 has had a couple of better nights sleep (thank god)! so feeling more human today.

So far today I have had porridge for breakfast; and beans on toast for lunch with an orange and low fat yogurt. Planning a curry for dinner (rogan josh) so a relatively low fat sauce.

TwatteryFlowers · 20/01/2017 16:11

Gallbladder pain is the worst and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Having it out was the best thing I've done - apart from a few twinges I haven't had any issues since.

Fat around the internal organs and arteries is what worries me, too.

Glad you're on the mend kitkat and that your baby has perked up too. We had veg curry last night and the night before too - feels indulgent, warming and filling but plenty of veg (obviously, given that it's a veg curry lol) and not too many calories. Good luck for tomorrow Flowers

JacquelineChan · 20/01/2017 16:20

good luck kit kat .... i find the jeans are the best indicator !!

hats off to you with such a young baby ...... it took me a year to get rid of my baby weight and not all of it ...DS is 3 and I am still getting rid of the last 10lbs or so

HandsomeDevil · 21/01/2017 08:08

morning all
my BMI is roughly 25, maybe just under. However I have a small frame, tiny boobs, and I'm not at all muscular. I could therefore do with being much nearer 20-21 than the 24.5 that is right for some. AS I'm tall that's a loss of about 2.5st.

I did well yesterday. I was on-call, and so ended up finishing work 4 hours later than planned. Normally in these circumstances I fall on the vending machines, but I toughed it out and just had some leftover supper when I got in. Not out much this weekend, so not too much in the way of temptation ahead.

KitKat1985 · 21/01/2017 09:30

Well done Handsome on resisting the vending machines!

A good weigh in this morning - I lost 1 and a half pounds this week. Smile My initial goal at the start of this year was to get to half a stone lost by DH's birthday (11th Feb) and so that leaves me with 3 pound to lose in the next 3 weeks, which should be perfectly do-able. I will do this!

JacquelineChan · 22/01/2017 17:38

Well this weekend has been a write off ! Fish and chip lunch with 2 glasses of wine yesterday and big Sunday roast today! But going to do yoga tonight and 5k on the bike tomorrow. And back to the healthy eating obviously. Got a big shop coming tomorrow and planning roast chicken and salad tomorrow night . I hope I can undo this weekend's blow out

TwatteryFlowers · 22/01/2017 19:48

I feel a bit bleurgh today - a bit nauseous but not feeling like I'm going to actually be sick. As a result I've only eaten a packet of crisps and some crackers. I might try and get a sarnie or something later. I suppose at least I won't have put any weight on though!

HandsomeDevil · 23/01/2017 07:55

Morning all, and well done Kitkat Smile.
Hope you're feeling better Twittery. Is it wrong that whenever I get better from being ill, I hop on the scales in joyful anticipation of a few pounds off?

Jacqueline, I'm sure you can get over your weekend off. I had one last week, but was back on it this week and have lost weight.

Start weight 12st 4lb
This week's loss 3lb
total loss 7lb

Snorfig · 23/01/2017 08:20

Lost 1inch off my hips and 1.5 off my waist. Haven't managed a weigh in this morning but grabbed my tape measure.

thesockgap · 23/01/2017 10:13

Weighed in on Saturday morning and had lost 1.8lb this week bringing total loss so far to 7lbs :) also just broke through that 12st barrier, at 11st 13.4lb, which psychologically makes a difference!!

I have lost 1.5 inches off my waist which is good as it is mostly belly fat I'm carrying. Nothing off the hips or bust yet but it's early days.

I was quite horrified when I did a BMI calculator thing yesterday that I'm classed as obese, with a BMI of 30.5 Shock however I'm hoping that within another week or two I'll be down to merely "overweight"!
