I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

Progress so far:
05/01/17 - 12st 6.4lbs
14/01/17 - 12st 1.2lbs :) so just over 5lbs off.

I've stuck to around 1350 calories per day, and been on a few brisk 3-4 mile walks.

Shared a bottle of wine with DH last night but that was the first we'd had since 2nd Jan! Also did a roast dinner yesterday but mine was mainly lean meat and veg, with one roast potato!

Hi Chocolate cake . Welcome !
Your username is making me hungry .....why can't you be celery stick or something ! hahaha

I can't speak for everyone on this thread but most of us are just doing healthy eating and increasing our exercise rather than a specific diet plan .

For example i gave myself some rules to stick to :
healthy meals , healthy snacks, more exercise - and no picking kids leftovers ! I have also given up booze for the forseeable future - and this is working

TwatteryFlowers · 16/01/2017 12:51

Weighing in: last week I was 9st 5.8 and today I am 9st 4.8 so I am down bang on 1lb. Not much but it's going in the right direction! Total weight loss so far: 2st.

TwatteryFlowers · 16/01/2017 12:52

Twattery - 2 stone !! that's amazing . well done

TwatteryFlowers · 16/01/2017 14:09

Thank you Jacqueline. I've been doing this since July so it feels like it's taken ages but I suppose slow & steady wins the race!

What was everyone's moment that made them feel that wanted to change their diet/lifestyle?
For me, it was when we went to a hotel for our wedding anniversary and it had a huge, mirrored bathroom. I had to close my eyes when sitting on the loo because I could see myself from all angles and it was a horrid sight. It still took another couple of months before I gathered enough willpower to start though. I feel a lot better about myself now still don't want a 360° panoramic view of my backside whilst on the throne though

JacquelineChan · 16/01/2017 17:09

I've been thinking about it for a while because my clothes have been getting tighter , but the lightbulb moment was when my friend sent some photos she took at a girls lunch just before christmas. I looked like an absolute heifer , and scruffy in jeans and baggy top because everything else was tight, and the others looked lovely and glam.
Apart from the healthier lifestyle I have had my hair done and trying to dress smarter , even though i work from home and only ever go to and from nursery most days ! it has made me feel better all in all

Mipe · 16/01/2017 17:45

Well done everyone for keeping going! I am doing ok so far, still eating fairly big meals in the evenings but sticking to the No S rules overall. What really helps me when I feel hungry is to imagine that what I am feeling is actually stomach fat melting Grin.

KitKat1985 · 16/01/2017 18:25

Congratulations everyone! It's great to see we're all sticking with it!

As for my 'I need to lose weight moment', I think for me it's been putting on clothes and still looking pregnant. I know DD2 is still quite young though (10 weeks tomorrow) but I hate the giant tummy I've developed.

Struggling today. DD2 has had a run of bad nights and I've got a cold, and just generally feeling a bit crap. Had bloods done today to check my iron levels so will be interesting to see what that shows. I reached a point today where I just desperately wanted chocolate. I did at least manage to just limit it to one chocolate biscuit though.

GreenBudgie · 16/01/2017 18:36

Welcome Newbies :-). Congrats to losers, both big and small, 2 stone loss a amazing, and inspiring as we can all proceed in the same direction, a pound (or 454g) at a time. I am down a pound, no surprise at the small loss as my bad day scoff was awful. Please keep posting success and failure, we can do this together. The sum of US is greater than any one part.

Dizzywizz · 16/01/2017 20:18

Well done everyone, we are getting there I think. My realisation was a photo, and also my size 16 clothes getting too small for me.

Faries · 17/01/2017 10:39

My 'I need to do it this time' moment was when the BMI calculator no longer said healthy but overweight. I'd always been on the higher end of healthy but this time I needed to take it seriously. I need to lose 1 -1.5 stones by Aug and hopefully forever.

Since NYE I've not lost any weight, maybe 1 pound (it keeps coming back). But I've gone back to the gym and I've mostly cut out sugars. I'm trying to make my portion sizes smaller too, I'm not always sure I'm getting the balance right but I'm trying.

InteriorLulu · 17/01/2017 11:04

Well. That didn't go to plan then. 0.5lb on. I wasn't strictly on plan last week though. And I blame everyone except myself (naturally). I know what I have done wrong (finishing up the Christmas alcohol), and how to resolve it (no drinking on a school night). It's just actually bloody doing it.

I've just been sent a photo of me taken on Boxing Day. My god, it's bad.

I can barely do up my size 16 clothes any more and there is no way I want to be buying size 18.

Just need to keep on buggering on.

HandsomeDevil · 17/01/2017 12:35

well done to all the losers

and commiserations to all those sticking a bit. it IS hard, real life always gets in the way of my plans. I think the key thing for me is not to catastrophise and go completely off the rails after one or two bad days. even if I only lose weight every second week it's all heading in the right direction.

TwatteryFlowers · 17/01/2017 13:39

It's a bugger when you gain a little but the best thing to do is to not let out get to you and drag you off course - it's all too easy to dive head first into a trough of chocolate and cheese! Keep at it and it'll come off again. On my progress chart thing on MyFitnessPal it shows a few increases, sometimes by as much as 5lb (Cornwall and its cream teas were to blame), at least once a month; but the general trend is downwards and that's the important thing: being able to have a few "off days" but then being able to get back on it. I think that's going to be the key to keeping it off once you meet the target.

Keep that photo Lulu and use it everytime you reach for whatever might make you go, "Ah sod it!" and when you feel your size 16s get a little loose, take another one so you can actually see your progress.

JacquelineChan · 17/01/2017 14:44

Oh why did someone mention cheese - oh I miss that almost the most ! ( wine is what i really miss )

Lulu - at least you know what it was, and as you say, you know you need to cut it out . It is hard though . I usually would have had one glass of red wine as soon as ds was in bed , each night to unwind. But now i am not going all preachy and saying I have a 10 mile jog instead lol but I have found a box set I love and watch an episode a night as soon as the little monster is in bed. That's how I relax and what i look forward to all day. It's calorie free too !

JacquelineChan · 17/01/2017 14:44

BTW it's Black Mirror I am watching

GreenBudgie · 17/01/2017 18:54

Thanks for the updates everyone. I am slowly learning to have a hot drink when I think I am hungry, and not eat between planned meals. My "got to smash this" moment came when I faced up to the amount of chocolate and or biscuits I trough when I am tired, bored or angry. Keep on keeping on, getting into healthier eating habits is better in the long run than fretting about our current dress size.

GreenBudgie · 17/01/2017 19:35

Update: Just finished dinner: A baked mini Camembert served with black pepper and steamed broccoli dippers. 550 calories well spent, it was worth not having carbs with it to have the whole cheese :-)

Dizzywizz · 18/01/2017 05:53

Ooh green budgie I never thought of having Camembert with pepper sticks etc, might have to try that! I was soooo hungry yesterday, I think I got my balance of meals wrong - I had a boiled egg with half a slice of bread for brekki which I don't think was enough, then I couldn't have my mid morning apple at work because we had a director in and we're not really supposed to eat at our desks. Soup for lunch (no bread), some mini cheddars for afternoon snack (meant to have half but was too hungry), then for tea it was 1 fishfinger, 1 waffle and loads of carrots/peppers. But not enough and when ds2 didn't finish his, I polished it off!!

InteriorLulu · 18/01/2017 17:05

Thanks Twattery. I've given myself a pep talk, put the photo within reach, and planned and tracked today's food/drink.

Small steps...and as long as the graph slowly heads downwards it doesn't matter about the small blips. I think I was (am) just concerned that it would lead to another bad day, then a bad week and so on.

Thanks too Jacqueline - I'm planning to pick up some knitting to do rather than having of wine. The two are mutually exclusive Grin. I reckon a glass of sparkling water with ice and lemon might just do the trick too.

Off to plan the food for the week, then the online shop.

Keep going all, it's hard but it's definitely worth it in the end.

Elianna · 18/01/2017 17:10

Count me in, I want to lose 30lb, hopefully in time for summer.

KitKat1985 · 18/01/2017 18:01

I want camembert now! Grin

Not too bad a day here. Porridge for breakfast, and a vegetable grill and low fat cheese wrap for lunch with a low fat yogurt. Planning on a quorn cottage pie with vegetables for dinner.
