I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

Good luck kit kat !

Buttonmoonb4tea · 13/01/2017 17:57

Hi everyone, thought I'd update you. Weighed myself today and I've lost 3lbs this week. Only managed the gym twice this week as my DS has been under the weather but I'm thrilled with the loss Smile

TwatteryFlowers · 13/01/2017 18:06

Well done everyone on the positive changes and the results. Even if you're not seeing the results on the scales remember that there will be some changes inside and that's ultimately what really matters.

JacquelineChan · 13/01/2017 18:23

Button moon that's fab. You got to the gym twice more than I did !

Twattery yes it is all about the positive changes. I can't believe I have not picked at my toddlers leftovers once since 1st Jan !

I am weighing myself tomorrow but if the scales dont wow me that's okay because my jelly belly has definitely reduced in size

Buttonmoonb4tea · 13/01/2017 18:42

Twattery you're so right, I honestly didn't expect the scales to budge but I do feel different in myself so just thought well I know that the cardio is helping somehow. And Jac just cutting down on picking helps loads. I've stopped the leftover picking too

TwatteryFlowers · 13/01/2017 19:24

It's what I keep telling myself when I jump on the scales and find I've inexplicably gained a couple of pounds overnight and realise I'm due on in a week or so. It's hard not to feel defeated or to think, "Sod it, what's the point?"

I am eating a lot less chocolate and trying to stick to what I think is a fairly balanced diet (today for instance, I had fruit and yoghurt, a Costa panini and some wafers and a flapjack. For tea we're having tofu burgers in between two big mushrooms with salad and sweet potato chips. That's not too bad, is it? Or am I fooling myself?) so hopefully I'm getting all the nutrients I need and not eating too much in the way of bad fats and bad carbs. I'm hoping my insides, including my liver which I was told is showing signs of fat deposits, are feeling the benefit.

My sister keeps going on about some bloke called Joe Wickes (-sp?) who talks about not dieting or weighing yourself and measuring your progress on the shake and size of your body instead. Going by that then, I've lost in total something like 4" off my waist (since the end of July) and my asda size 10 work trousers are a bit too loose and I have to tuck my T-shirt in underneath (size 8s are still much too tight though!) so, though I only lost half a pound last week, I'm happy with how my body has changed overall.

I'm drivelling on now, I'll stop!

GreenBudgie · 13/01/2017 19:27

Congratulations to Button and fingers crossed for anyone due a meeting on the scales. Keep on keeping on :-).

KitKat1985 · 14/01/2017 10:08

Well done Button! 3lbs is excellent!

I managed to shift another 1 pound this week. It's slow progress, but at least it's progress. To be fair in a sleep-deprived haze with a 9 week old who I'm still breast-feeding, as well as a toddler to run around after, I don't think I could cope with anything too strict right now.

CancellyMcChequeface · 14/01/2017 15:02

Well done, Button and KitKat!

I'm a bit frustrated today as the scales haven't been moving for a while. I had one cheat meal a few days ago but aside from that I've been sticking to my low-carb plan.

That, and I went for a nice long walk yesterday. Great, until my shoes started rubbing and took the skin off my heels and little toes, and I ended up limping home. Blush

Still. Not giving up. Smile

Dizzywizz · 14/01/2017 16:23

I had major chocolate cravings in Sainsbury's today but managed to resist! Just thought I've been working really hard and don't want that to go to waste

TwatteryFlowers · 14/01/2017 17:54

Same here Dizzy. I keep looking at myself in the mirror and reminding myself of how far I've come; this is usually enough to stop me buying shit loads of chocolate.
I was at a children's party today (oh the joys...) and was really tempted by the chocolate cake, sausage rolls, fries and buns. I had an egg mayo sandwich and 2 custard creams and then came home for my dinner. I was quite proud of myself for being so reserved!

JacquelineChan · 14/01/2017 19:43

I forgot to weigh myself I've been so busy !
Didn't have lunch because I was in the hairdressers for 4 hours today . I had porridge for breakfast and we went out for Chinese with the kids. I had a bit of this and a bit of that but I wasn't greedy and no booze.

I have really noticed the difference on my belly and thighs . Something is definitely working

JacquelineChan · 14/01/2017 19:54

We are all so determined on this thread and that is half the battle !
Cancelly - you soldiered on !

HandsomeDevil · 14/01/2017 21:42

Oh fuck
I have been in the pub since 2pm. I have had four pints, half a bottle of wine and a Chinese banquet, as well as a wispy on arrival chez moi.

Not looking forward to monday weight in.

Nice beer though

Dizzywizz · 14/01/2017 21:46

Oh dear handsomedevil. Sounds like a good night out though!

We've caved and got an Indian tonight as we couldn't be bothered to cook. I've got tarka dhall (1/2 portion) and one onion bahji, and then (dry) chicken tandoori and pilau rice. So overall not too bad. Avoided the utter chicken!

Dizzywizz · 14/01/2017 21:48

And in the interest of full disclosure, yesterday we had a Chinese 🙈. Though I had vegetables in oyster sauce and boiled rice. Both half portions. But had a spring roll for starter. Mondays' weigh in is going to be bad 😰

GreenBudgie · 15/01/2017 07:55

Hands Devil painkillers and water :-). I had Indian for dinner last night - Iceland's chicken jalfrezi (£1.50) served on a pile of finely shredded cabbage cooked with coriander and lemon instead of rice. Came on at 500 cals. I weigh in tomorrow, keep posting Folks, it really helps getting your updates . TwatteryFlowers you are amazing for losing 4 inches off your waist, are you a veggie?

HandsomeDevil · 15/01/2017 08:26

urgh. I am conscious again, and not in any serious pain, so in all probability still drunk. After I posted I had a Milky Way and 2/3rds of a chocolate pizza.

Plan today is to atone, and in particular not get sucked into comfort eating when the hangover kicks in. I Shredded yesterday, and am running tomorrow, so might try to entice the DC into a Just Dance session later on.

TwatteryFlowers · 15/01/2017 10:56

Glad your hangover isn't too painful this morning Devil!
I was really pleased with myself yesterday after resisting temptation at that children's party and then having stew and a bit of bread for tea. But, I'm due on and was craving something more fatty so ordered a domino's with a garlic bread and some cookies Blush I only had the personal pizza and dh ate half of that and half the garlic bread as well as one of the cookies so it wasn't too bad. I'm going to limit the damage over the next few days though to make up for it - that's worked for me before.

Dizzywizz · 15/01/2017 11:06

Twattery I don't think that will be too bad if you only ate half, and just be good the next few days!

Dizzywizz · 16/01/2017 05:20

Argh only quarter of a pound loss!! V upset, but consoling myself that week one was 7lbs so it is 7.25lbs in 2 weeeks, but I thought it would be at least a couple of lbs as my overhang is def less!!

Back on it then, and any biscuits left are going in the bin.

HandsomeDevil · 16/01/2017 08:00

Never mind Dizzywig - at least you're still heading in the right direction. I think week two is always hard. I always find that the weight kind of falls of by itself in the first week, and then the proper work starts after that.

I have lost nothing. Not surprised, as I had an all-day bender, followed by a day self-medicating my hangover with bread and cheese. I am DETERMINED to lose some weight next week, so will be eating a bit more mindfully.

Day off today, so 5k run once I've done the school run.

Start weight 12st 4
this week's loss 0lb
total loss 4lb.

TwatteryFlowers · 16/01/2017 08:05

Budgie I'm not a vegetarian, no. I used to be but have lost my way with it. I use beef or chicken stock, I eat fish and I eat things with animal products in. I would like to eat meat again properly but because it's been so long I am struggling with the texture of it as well as the thought of all those people who got on at me and saying that I should "come to my senses and have steak". I kind of don't want to prove them right or give them any smug satisfaction, if that makes sense.

Your curry sounds delicious, by the way! So many people are snobby about Iceland but they have a great selection of really tasty food.

I'm really chuffed at losing my inches - most of my weight has come off my abdomen which, if I'm understanding it properly, must mean I'm losing visceral fat. When I had the scan to check for gallstones a couple of years ago the sonographer said that I was beginning to get a fatty liver so hopefully I'm beginning to reverse that.

Chocolatecake12 · 16/01/2017 08:07

Please can I join?
A bit late to the party I know!!
I decided not to try dieting in January as there were so many Christmas chocs etc left over. And cake.... that's my biggest downfall.
However I'm really struggling to fit into my clothes now - my favourite pair of trousers wouldn't do up on Saturday!
So I'm starting today.
What works? I was thinking 5:2 maybe.

Snorfig · 16/01/2017 08:23

Lost 3lbs since I started. Slow and steady, I'm ok with that.
