I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

Thanks for the advice on office lunches - i think having a high volume healthy lunch is definitely going to be the key - I was trying to survive the day on a tiny bit of salad and a couple of eggs, so no wonder I was tempted by cake.
I'm at home Thursdays and Fridays and doing a lot better as the toddler is keeping me occupied and not allowing me time to even think about food, let alone eat it! I'm going to spend his naptime making more realistic meal plans for the next week or so.

Snorfig · 05/01/2017 17:39

Resisted the office snack table completely today. Phew. Coming down with some hideous throat thing though and just want to comfort eat. I've got 460 calories left for the day. Determined to do it.

PlaymobilPirate · 05/01/2017 21:21

I've seen yoghurt and seeds mentioned a few times - can someone enlighten me please??

JacquelineChan · 05/01/2017 21:32

There was a good programme on itv earlier about diets but my goodness so expensive. They must be going to the wrong supermarkets!

Anyway I think I have overdone it on the fruit veg and salad. Very bloated and gassy !

TwatteryFlowers · 05/01/2017 21:46

I bought some seeds a couple of months ago thinking they'd make a good, healthy snack. They just got caught in my teeth and felt horrible in my mouth. I tried them on their own, whole and crushed, as well as whizzed up and mixed into a smoothie with yoghurt and fruit. In the end I put them outside on the bird table.

I eat whole nuts though, on their own mainly. We have a hazelnut tree in our garden and they're delicious - much nicer and more full of flavour than those from the shop.

Anyway, today I've had some yoghurt and fruit, a cheese sandwich, battered fish with crispy potatoes and mixed veg, some nuts and half of one of those graze chocolate pretzel dippy things. I've also had a bucket of tea. I'm not hungry but I am bored so might have to go to bed to avoid finding something else to snack on.

I measured my waist earlier. In July it was 32". Today it was 29". I probably measure it wrong because I pull the tape quite tight but only as tight as I pull my belt on my jeans. I don't much care whether it's right or wrong anyway, it's gone down! Grin

Secretarchersaddict · 05/01/2017 21:50

Me too, my weight has slowly been creeping upwards at the same time as any muscle tone has been disappearing. Time for a fresh start, developing some healthier habits and saying goodbye to the pot belly!

GreenBudgie · 05/01/2017 22:12

Pirate, I have 200g of yoghurt and sprinkle over 10g sunflower seeds and a bit of cinnamon in the morning. The sunflower seeds are cheaper than nuts and the fat content stops me getting hungry.

Dizzywizz · 06/01/2017 09:23

Ive been making muesli - add add nuts/seeds/dried fruit to plain oats. Have it with soy milk, and some yogurt if I fancy it.

Buttonmoonb4tea · 06/01/2017 14:24

Thanks for the welcome Jac. So i went to the gym yesterday morning, did some cardio then legs bums and tums. I re joined in August last year but then returned to work from maternity leave so have found it so hard fitting in around work.

I've decided to try leaving work an hour earlier a couple of evening to fit in some cardio.

Today I've had a quarter of whole meal toast this morning at playgroup. Just had a bowl of slimming world stew I made yesterday. Not sure what's for tea. I need to do a small shop for fruit and veg.

KitKat1985 · 06/01/2017 17:47

Well done on the good work ladies.

Still not snacking here, although frankly the biscuit tin in the kitchen with all the really nice biscuits in is calling my name, but I'm ignoring it!

Today I've had high fibre cereal for breakfast, and beans on toast for lunch with a satsuma and low-fat yogurt. I'm thinking pasta for dinner in a tomato sauce.

Weigh in tomorrow morning. Last Saturday I was 11'13 and a half so I'm hoping for a least half a pound to a pound off. Cross your fingers for me!

Snorfig · 06/01/2017 18:34

Day with the kids today, which means living on their leftovers... on top of my own food. 🐷
Done 1hr on exercise bike though, to make up for extra beige calories consumed... still no weight loss, 6 days and counting into dry January.

L8forTea · 06/01/2017 20:07

Bit late to the party, but can I join too?

Had DC2 nine weeks ago, by ELCS so apart from walking I haven't got back into proper exercise yet. I say back to exercise, I hadn't done any for at least a year before getting PG so need to start Blush. Got myself a Fitbit so trying to do loads of long, fast-ish walks.

Need to lose 3 stone, not sure how long I should take realistically. But could do to shed the first stone by 7 weeks time for a friend's hen do. Need to look amazing and not like I have a refluxy 3 month old at home

L8forTea · 06/01/2017 20:09

Oh and I'm planning to do the 'cutting out crap' diet. So knackered I keep reaching for chocolate and cake to go with my copious coffee intake. Aiming for low-ish carb without cutting them out totally.

JacquelineChan · 06/01/2017 20:30

Everyone seems to be doing so well - especially Tea with a 9 week old !
I only managed about 15 minutes on the exercise bike tonight I feel super tired and lethargic. ...I'm premenstrual but I don't want to start using excuses !
Like Snorf I usually eat my toddler's leftovers but so far managed to resist.

JacquelineChan · 06/01/2017 20:32

I've had a couple of quality street today too .....Confused

TwatteryFlowers · 06/01/2017 20:46

I did really well today until, yet again, our teatime plans fell apart. We were meant to have a brie pear tart thing with potatoes and veg but dh wasn't well when he came in so didn't want anything and we have nothing in that would really do for a quick, relatively healthy meal for one so I ordered a domino's and had to order cookies to bring the total above £10 for delivery. I didn't get much (a personal pizza, a garlic bread and the cookies and my dc ate a cookie each and dh, who was magically feeling better, ate half of the garlic bread) but it's still a rubbish tea!

HandsomeDevil · 06/01/2017 21:06

i fell off the wagon a bit today
large portion of sausage and cheesy mash dwarfing the broccoli on the side
and half a large bag of nuts 'cos the football's on...

Yolandafarthing · 06/01/2017 21:14

Today was not great.

Breakfast yoghurt with berries and honey (good)

Then went to Sainsbury's cafe with the baby and had a toasted tea cake (bad)

Lunch was courgette and feta salad with crayfish (good)

Then 35g green and blacks bar (v v bad)

Dinner had chicken with steamed veg - good but does not cancel out the tea cake or choc!!

Dizzywizz · 07/01/2017 06:44

I stuck to It yesterday, had homemade muesli, a small salmon roll and some mini chedders, yogurt. Ed have a Chinese, but I had chicken and mushroom broth, then vegetable noodles. Though actually I had a slice of Christmas cake as well :(

Today will be hard, I'm worried we will end up with an unhealthy lunch. But even if it's McDonald's, if I have a happy meal that will be ok right?

KitKat1985 · 07/01/2017 09:04

Dizzywizz a happy meal wouldn't be too bad if you balance it out over the rest of the day.

Sorry to everyone who struggled yesterday. Just remember today is a new day!

L8forTea our DC2's are nearly the same age. My second DD is 9 weeks old on Tuesday! What with her and her 'energetic' 2 year old sister it's the main reason I've been reaching for sugary quick energy fixes for so long!

First weigh in this morning and I'd lost a pound. Smile It's not dramatic weight loss but I'm mainly just trying to cut out snacking and eating sugary crap, and I can't go too drastic anyway as I'm still breastfeeding.

Only another 26 and a half pounds to go. [sobs bitterly]

Dizzywizz · 07/01/2017 16:29

We ended up in to sushi, some healthy stuff but some fried stuff, and I know there's a lot of sugar in the sauces 😭

Jokeaboutmyhotchoc · 07/01/2017 16:32

Today so far:

1.5 weetabix, rice milk, banana

Scrambled egg with tomato and bit of chorizo

Green and blacks 35g milk choc BlushBlushBlush

Dunno about dinner, may just have yoghurt and fruit.

TwatteryFlowers · 07/01/2017 17:47

Today so far:

Yoghurt and fruit

Some Doriano crackers

Cheese, stuffed olives, selection of Jacob's crackers, bbq sauce and some pickle

A snickers bar

Nothing yet for tea but might have what we were meant to have yesterday (veg, potatoes and a brie crown thing)

A bucket of tea

thesockgap · 07/01/2017 17:59

Can I join please?
I've gradually gained almost 4 stone over the past 5 years or so :(
I was 8st 10lb in the winter of 2011-12 but my weight has crept up and up till I got weighed in the doctor's on Thursday and I was 12st 6lb! That's almost a 50% increase :o
I'm only 5'2" so it really shows. I'm terribly unfit, and get out of breath climbing the stairs, so I need to start doing some exercise such as walking or swimming.
I'm not into groups such as WW or SW I'd prefer to just eat healthily - stop eating family sized bags of crisps in one go for example - and see how I get on.
We're going aboad in August for the first time in a few years so I'd really love to lose about 3 stone by then and not feel ashamed in a swimsuit!

L8forTea · 07/01/2017 18:18

So today was ok...

Breakfast - 1.5 slices toast & peanut butter
Lunch - 3 small pieces of chicken, 2 Kargs crispbreads & Philadelphia, yoghurt
Dinner will be 2 fish cakes & veg

Tea, and more tea! Have barely moved though, the baby has been totally crap at napping today other than in my arms Sad

KitKat I have a 3 year old too - when they're both wailing at me it's hard to resist eating shite as a reward for making it through the day!
