Lapin how did you work out your TDEE? (I just had to Google what that even meant!) I did the same with MFP and adjusted my allowance. Originally it gave me 1200 a day which I found very very difficult, I'd be over every day and then because I'd gone over by 100-200 just on "normal" meals, I'd think to myself "sod it, I may as well have more crap as I'm over anyway"

So I adjusted mine to 1400, which then gives me 1500 (when I do my exercise bike - not today Blush). I find this achievable and since I changed it, I've been losing every week (except Xmas, obviously!) So it maybe slower than I like but it's still coming off.

I'm sitting here now trying to meal plan. It's so dull. At least I have some new ideas thanks to firefly's amazing lists but I just find the whole thing of planning meals, writing shopping list and going to the supermarket so boring. I really should have married a chef so someone else could plan and cook me lovely tasty healthy meals without me having to think about it!

Lapinlapin · 17/01/2017 11:47

I used this calculator
tdeecalculator.net

And yes that's exactly how I've been. I go over and then give up and eat way too many biscuits Blush

I hope a higher daily allowance will work and I manage to have as much willpower as you to keep losing every week.

MillieMoodle · 17/01/2017 14:24

Thanks for that Lapin. Mine says my maintenance calories should be 1,704. MFP gives me 1,320 but I go slightly over most days. I've just upped it to 1,400 to see how I go!

Bibs2014 · 17/01/2017 19:42

Latte, toast, egg and bacon medallions for breakfast

Low fat sausages and beans for lunch

Dinner was chicken casserole

Snacked on Apple, rice cake with chocolate on it and raisins. Small slice of ds's pizza.

Wenchelda · 17/01/2017 20:15

Urgh. I'm disgusted with myself today. Don't even want to list everything I've eaten. Plus I've been so lazy all day and barely moved so have done less than 6000 steps. Good job tomorrow is a new day Blush

FireflyGirl · 17/01/2017 22:54

B : bread and hummous
L : ham salad with feta and stuffed cherry peppers
T : Thai chicken fritters with spicy noodleS
S: milkybar Blush

Under my calories for today, but haven't managed many steps. Will also do better tomorrow!

I've messed up today! Started well with cereal and a latte at work. Then fruit and a mullerlight. Then got a call from DS's nursery saying they suspect he has chicken pox.

No food at home as had packed all the salad for work! So had breaded fish, handful of oven chips and baked beans.

Did a quick top up shop in Aldi and succumbed to a croissant Angry. One of the cake versions rather than the flakey pastry ones. Quickly had an apple and a small bowl of yesterday's casserole to stop me eating any more!!

Chilli, rice and salad for dinner.

DS has been checked over by a doctor so he's back at nursery tomorrow and I'm back to my healthy lunches!

Wenchelda · 18/01/2017 18:19

I've not done great today either. Breakfast was porridge, lunch was hard boiled eggs and toast. So not too bad. But then DH cooked korma for dinner, with naan bread AND poppadums so I'm way over my allowance today.

Why am I finding it so much harder to get back into this since Christmas? It actually feels more difficult than when I very first started it in November Confused

DH has also been using MFP since new year - they're having a competition in his office to see which "team" can lose the most weight between them by Easter. He informed me earlier that apparently he lost 8lbs last week Shock 8lbs! Is that even possible in one week?! Shock and more to the point, why aren't I losing like that?

Bibs2014 · 18/01/2017 19:50

I ate cake that I brought for MIL's bday. Blush

Bibs2014 · 18/01/2017 19:51

Wench I blame the cold!!

FireflyGirl · 18/01/2017 20:06

January is rubbish for anything, combined with a busy life. I think the run up to Christmas was easier in a way because it was a fixed date, and because so much was planned it was easier to know where you were.

Shall we change to the 'lose a stone by Easter' thread? Gives us something to aim for!

Today has been good for me:
B : shreddies with almond milk
L : ham salad with feta and stuffed cherry peppers
T : homemade 'fakeaway' kebab in wholemeal pitta with salad and garlic yoghurt, followed by half a glass of strawberry cider and some maltesers. I've come in under my allowance, so happy with that.

I walked for miles today as well, between shopping for a couple of hours and walking my sister's dog, but according to the app on my phone have only done 5000 steps. I think it is very wrong, but have ignored the 'extra' calories it gives me anyway. I'm hoping for a good loss this week - I'm in the local amateur dramatic group and it's our production this weekend, then every evening next week and two performances next Saturday. It means I will have to take my tea with me, so not sure what I'll be able to have that's healthy. Need something more substantial than salad and the others have fish and chips nearly every night! It will be a true test of my meal planning abilities... Grin

OP posts:
MillieMoodle · 19/01/2017 07:39

Yesterday was ok.

B: porridge, tea and actimel
L: two wholemeal rolls with tongue
D: mushroom omelette with chips and sweet corn.
S: 2 x sponge fingers, 1 x crunch cream, 1 x shortbread, a few Cadbury snow balls.

Not sure how today will go. Think my IBS is flaring up as had a bad stomach last night so am not really hungry today. It's my birthday but am not doing anything and most people seem to have forgotten, so imagine I will comfort eat biscuits if anything. DH hasn't really bothered with it which I am a bit upset about. Having a birthday in January is shit. Am feeling a bit unloved today in case you couldn't tell!

Wenchelda · 19/01/2017 10:17

Oh Millie, Happy birthday! FlowersCake That's rubbish is your DH isn't making an effort and other people seem to have forgotten. Maybe they have a surprise planned for later? In the meantime, I will happily eat (virtual) birthday cake with you!

I had a sneaky weigh this morning and am 3 quarters of a lb lighter than Sunday. Which I'm not believing as I've not been sticking to my calories at all this week! Blush we shall see on Sunday for official weigh in.

I feeling rough today. Still can't shift this cold and my cough sounds like I smoke 60 a day (I don't smoke at all!) also I met a devastated lady yesterday who's premature baby had just died and so I couldn't sleep at all last night for thinking about it. Then dd was a right little madam before school this morning - I ended up losing my rag with her and now feel absolute shit because of it. She's only 4. Sad

I am just having coffee and toast in Costa then got to do the supermarket shop and all I actually want to do is sleep. Needless to say I didn't get on my exercise bike this morning. Lunch will be something small as I'm eating breakfast so late. Dinner was going to be veg risotto but now DH is working late and I have to take dcs to after school activity instead of him which means dinner will have to be something that can be thrown together very quickly when we finally get in at 5:30pm later. Hoping for some inspiration when I get to the supermarket.

Good idea firefly to change the thread title to something about losing weight for Easter. That will give us all another set date to work towards and hopefully help me us get focussed and back into the swing of things properly.

Yikes that was an epic post. Sorry!

MillieMoodle · 19/01/2017 15:48

Thanks Wench! No there won't be a surprise later; my parents are on holiday and DH is at work. He might make me a cup of tea later if I'm lucky. Mind you, seeing your post about the lady whose baby has died puts things into perspective, so I shouldn't moan. How awful for her, she must be devastated Sad

Food wise I've been ok-ish today. Two slices of Nutella on toast for breakfast. Two ham rolls for lunch. A clementine and some Jaffa cakes for a snack. Not sure what's for dinner yet.

Bibs2014 · 19/01/2017 17:49

Wench how awful for your friend. So sad.

Happy birthday Millie! I too have a bday in Jan and agree it's rubbish!

I'm doing ok so far:

Cereal and semi skimmed milk
Jamie Oliver lentils and quinoa with salad for lunch
Snacked on fruit and yoghurt

I really fancied mini cheddars earlier but went for a walk instead. Smile

triangularchocolate · 19/01/2017 18:13

Happy birthday Millie, hope you have a nice evening. I've not had a great day - out for lunch with a friend and then after weeks without any chocolate I've had a bit of a binge today. Out for cocktails tomorrow but other than that I'll try to get back to normal asap - sigh!

happypoobum · 19/01/2017 19:20

Happy Birthday Millie! I would go nuclear if my DH forgot my birthday, I make a HUGE song and dance about it Grin

I am way under my calories tomorrow because I am going on a big day out tomorrow with adult DD and there will be cocktails and good food. Fingers crossed for the Saturday weigh in.

Sorry to hear about your friend Wench Flowers

MillieMoodle · 19/01/2017 19:31

In fairness he didn't forget my birthday because I've reminded him every day since Christmas, he ordered a book I wanted but it was delivered to a neighbour last night while we were at Tesco buying me a birthday card which I had to pay for as he didn't take his wallet and he wouldn't go and collect it. I was a bit upset this morning when he handed it to me in the cardboard box it was delivered in, he hadn't bothered to wrap it up. I think Wench must have tracked him down and had words with him, as he came home with a big bouquet of flowers, cooked dinner with food he'd bought specially and also got me a cake for the first time in 12 years. So am feeling much more loved now, he has redeemed himself!

Dinner was chicken in BBQ sauce, roast potatoes and veg. Followed by a big slice of chocolate cake. Birthday calories don't count. Grin

MillieMoodle · 19/01/2017 19:32

And thanks for all the birthday wishes! WineCakeBrew

Wenchelda · 19/01/2017 19:53

Lol, Millie - so glad to hear your DH did something special for you after all Smile

It wasn't a friend of mine who's baby died. I was working yesterday and she was a customer. I just came across her whilst she was curled over in floods of tears Sad Obviously i asked if she was ok and that's when she told me what happened. She had no friends or family supporting her and the baby's dad wasn't around so she literally had no one to talk to. She said I was the only person who'd asked if she was ok. The hospital had given her a support helpline number tonromg but she hadn't called them yet so I think me asking what was wrong just opened the flood gates and it all came out to me. I just wish I could've done more to help her. I was thinking about her all night and wondering if she's ok Sad

Lapinlapin · 19/01/2017 20:13

Happy birthday Millie! Glad your dh redeemed himself somewhat in the end.

Wench that's so sad Sad. Poor, poor woman. At least you were there and showed you cared. Just letting her talk was a nice thing to do.

MillieMoodle · 19/01/2017 20:15

Oh Wench that's so sad. I hope she has called the number for some support and Flowers for you for helping her.

FireflyGirl · 19/01/2017 20:51

Oh Wench, that poor woman! Puts things into perspective really, doesn't it. I'll report the thread and ask MN to change the title for us.

Happy birthday Millie. I'm glad DH redeemed himself! And you are correct - birthday calories don't count Grin

Bibs what's the lentil and quinoa salad? Is that the one you were raving about the other day?

triangular really don't worry about your binge. As long as you draw a sparkly line under it, you won't have damaged your weight loss, although it might be a bit slower this week.

happy am very jealous of your food and cocktails tomorrow Envy

I have had a relatively good day - under my calories and exercised, but lunch wasn't particularly healthy Blush

B: fruit salad with yoghurt, a slice of toast
L : bread and hummous, maltesers, sour cream pretzels
T : cashew chicken with rice and green beans. Did this in the slow cooker and it was a roaring success, and very easy to do. I used this recipe, but added bok choi towards the end so there was some form of vegetable in there, and served mine with green beans as well, which I thought worked really well. I'd definitely recommend having a look at this one if you like Chinese food.

I got my steps in today, thanks to walking my sister's dog again, then did a metafit class tonight so I'm pooped. But I jumped on the scales before class for a sneaky weigh-in and have lost nearly a pound so far this week, so really pleased with that!

OP posts:
Bibs2014 · 19/01/2017 21:12

Pasta in tomato sauce with salami and a big handful of watercress, spinach and rocket salad.

Resisted cake when DS and DH were having it for pudding!

Bibs2014 · 19/01/2017 21:15

Firefly it is quinoa from Aldi and Jamie Oliver's black lentils - my fave healthy lunch!!
