I am feeling very cross with myself. I haven't "got back on it" properly.

I had a bit of a cold and DD decided to come back home for a few days which meant I had to have real food in the house. It's a pitiful excuse blaming her. In truth it's been so nice, eating drinking and being merry. I haven't wanted to be sensible again.

Dreading weighing myself now but will do it tomorrow and will start afresh on Monday.

adora (((Hugs)))

triangularchocolate · 07/01/2017 08:39

Hope those feeling poorly are better soon. Lots of people tell me they lose weight when they're ill but it's never worked for me! Sorry to hear about your dog adorable

happypoobum · 07/01/2017 08:42

Sorry - Firefly so sorry you have been so poorly. Get well soon.

Wench totally agree re getting back on it. I feel like I was really "in the zone" and now I have to struggle to get back there. Gah!!

Wenchelda · 07/01/2017 10:57

(goodqueen changed back to my pre-christmas name!)

My food this week has not been great. I was doing alright yesterday morning but then scoffed a load of popcorn when i got home from work. I did cycle to and from work yesterday and also same today so that's good, but i did notice that my leg (where i injured it the other day) was really sore after i got home.

Today i have had a banana and some christmas pannettone toasted with butter for breakfast, plus a few grapes. Lunch is carrot and coriander soup. Not sure what dinner will be yet. Tummy is rumbling already though so don't think i will last until lunchtime without eating anything else!

Notsoskinnyminny · 07/01/2017 13:53

Adora sorry to hear about your doggy, I'd be more devastated if anything happened to Divadog than all most of my relatives. We're nursing a sick elderly pussy at the moment and DD doesn't want to go back to uni as we don 't think he's got long to go.

Firefly hope you're feeling better - I think you should celebrate Christmas on 25th Jan as you missed out Grin

honey I'm restarting on Monday, there's too much crap left over from Christmas and I'm definitely not in the zone. I've told DH he can make roasties again tonight as there's still a bag of spuds left from xmas any excuse and I'm driving DD back tomorrow so we'll just have steak baguettes when I get back as we're bound to stop off for cake on the way.

FireflyGirl · 07/01/2017 23:09

Sorry to hear about your dog Adora Flowers

Seize the day, happy. I'm sure I read an article that it's better to start right now than 'on Monday' Grin

triangular I am not a poorly loser either. Will weigh in this week but still got a bad tummy so all I'm eating is bread and ready salted crisps Sad and leftover beef massaman for tea, as I hadn't got round to freezing it from Thursday and the chicken that was supposed to be for tea hasn't defrosted yet! But I feel so rubbish that I mostly just ate the potatoes and green beans, and a tiny bit of rice.

So, tea tomorrow will be roast chicken and 5 different veggies, half in the steamer and half roasted. Nice, simple tea.

I know what you mean about expecting to be told off for food choices, Smell. I sometimes get warnings about fat and very occasionally when I have Nando sauce about sodium levels, but actually it would probably help me to have it say 'you really ate half a tub of Twiglets and some peanut m&ms for lunch Shock'

As soon as I feel better I need to get real about my lack of willpower in relation to the Christmas chocolates!

Is your leg scabbed over yet, Wench?

So sorry to hear about your dogs Adora SadFlowers
Hope you feel better soon Firefly

I actually feel more motivated now than I did before Christmas. I think because I knew Christmas was coming up, and I wouldn't be dieting over Christmas, that I didn't try very hard before either. Stupid, I know.

Anyway, now I'm feeling more in the zone, and hoping tomorrow's weigh in will show a loss. I've done my 10,000 steps every day this week and have been using mfp. My target is only 1200, so I may think about adjusting it. I've been around 200 calories over most days, but I'm still fairly pleased as it's a lot less than I was eating before Blush

Just need to start running again next week.

Bibs2014 · 07/01/2017 23:27

It's DH's birthday so had day off - back on it tomorrow!

triangularchocolate · 08/01/2017 07:14

Official weigh-in 13st 8.5lb which is 1.5lb off. Disappointing as i was 3lb down 2 days ago but i did overindulge on Friday and then did hardly any steps yesterday! Back on it today - good luck everyone else!

lokisglowstickofdestiny1 · 08/01/2017 08:19

Hi all. Weigh in this morning 69.2kg so down 0.9kg. Was lower in the week but I have injured myself and on painkillers that have caused constipation (sorry TMI!).
adora sorry to hear about your dogs.
Firefly hope you are over the worst of the stomach bug - I'm like you I don't lose weight when I have those - well I might when I'm in the middle of it but standing on the scales is usually the last thing on my mind so I don't know but a couple of days after recovery I never seem to be lighter!
trichoc well done on the loss, a loss is a loss in my book.

Lapinlapin · 08/01/2017 09:10

Weighed in today at 11.9, so 3lb off. A bit like triangular and loki though, I weighed lower in the week. So frustrating! Yesterday I was 5 ½ lb down and I really didn't eat a huge amount yesterday so I don't understand it. Maybe it's punishment for weighing too much!

Wenchelda · 08/01/2017 09:34

Weighed this morning at 10st 4.25 - so quarter of a lb on since last week Blush can't say I'm surprised though as my willpower has been awol this week and I've not been on my exercise bike either. Guess I should be glad it's not more of an increase! Must be stricter with myself from now on. Really need to get back into the zone with this - I was properly into it before Christmas.

Bibs2014 · 08/01/2017 10:09

10st 12 and 1/4 so 3.5lb off Grin

Ice3 · 08/01/2017 11:46

Weigh in is 10st10lbs. I am down 5lbs this week which is crazy as I have eaten so much. It has to be because I was ill. Hopefully it stays off.

Well done everyone!

Wenchelda · 08/01/2017 12:02

Some good weight losses there - well done!

I keep meaning to ask you all .. those that have a Fitbit or similar .... how does the calories burned info help? I just got one for Xmas so I'm still getting used to it. When i do my exercise bike and burn 100 calories, I log that in MFP and it then allows me to eat an extra 100 calories and still be within my daily allowance. By just going about my normal day (so not actual exercise, just walking about) my Fitbit tells me how many calories I've burned. But if I was to add them into MFP, my calorie allowance for the day would practically double. Am I just aiming to eat less calories than my Fitbit tells me I've used each day? Confused

Notsoskinnyminny · 08/01/2017 13:54

Ooh good question wench I've just been looking at some jawbone ones that look a bit more like a bracelet- I've got a pedometer on my phone but the calories burnt are miserly when I take Divadog out and I'd love to know how much I burn in work because I'm up and down like a yo-yo.

DDs still not packed so if you hear any strange sounds in the next couple of hours it'll be me having a screaming fit Angry

MillieMoodle · 08/01/2017 14:30

Wench and Notso I've got a Jawbone one and it syncs with MFP so automatically adjusts your calories depending on your steps.

You can also have negative calories adjustments. So your daily MFP calories allowance is based on the assumption you're burning eg. 1,200 calories a day just by moving around. If your step count at any given point in the day is less than MFP has guessed it should be, it will take calories off your allowance. So you might only be allowed 1,000 or 1,100!

Wenchelda · 08/01/2017 15:03

So Millie, if you're MFP allowance is set at 1200 (for example) and your jawbone is saying you burn 1200 calories a day just in general walking about, does that mean overall MFP allows you to eat 2400 calories?

Wenchelda · 08/01/2017 15:08

Posted to soon - my MFP allowance is set at 1400. I haven't done my exercise bike today so I haven't added anything to MFP to give me more calories. But my Fitbit tells me I've burned 1184 so far today. If I put that into MFP against my original allowance, it would give me 2584 calories allowed which surely can't be right?

(I think I'm getting it all very confused and maybe better off ignoring the calorie function on my Fitbit and carry on as I was before Xmas!)

lokisglowstickofdestiny1 · 08/01/2017 15:13

I don't know how MFP works but with Fitbit, I have set mine to target a specific amount to lose each week. It knows from my height and weight how many calories I need to exist each day so any calories that I expend additionally are taken into account. For example if my daily calories to exist is 1400 and I want to lose 0.5kg per week it calculates how many calories less I need to eat, say that's 700. If I didn't move around at all it would mean I could only eat 700 per day. But by additional walking and other exercise I use an additional 800 calories it means I have 1500 to eat each day and still lose weight.

MillieMoodle · 08/01/2017 15:14

Wench no it wouldn't. If your MFP calories are set at 1,400 a day, then MFP assumes you are burning more calories than that each day. The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you're eating. So if you burn 1,700 in a day, MFP will allow you around 300 extra. Otoh, if you only burn 1,200 in a day, MFP will reduce your calorie allowance that day to just under 1,200, as if you eat more calories than you burn, you'll put weight on. Does that make sense?!

lokisglowstickofdestiny1 · 08/01/2017 15:17

Wench the 1184 calories from your Fitbit includes the calories that you burn just to exist. If you put those into MFP it looks like it is double counting because MFP is already allowing for your existence calories.

MillieMoodle · 08/01/2017 15:21

Not sure if this will work, this is my MFP diary from today Blush you should be able to see that as I've hardly done any steps, MFP has taken a negative calorie adjustment i.e. in order to lose weight, I need to eat less calories than it had originally anticipated.

Lose a stone by Easter- thread 2
MillieMoodle · 08/01/2017 15:22

You need to click on the photo to see the whole thing, but MFP has taken 112 calories off me because I haven't done enough steps. And yes, I'm having a bad day today! Blush

FireflyGirl · 08/01/2017 15:48

Went to the gym just to weigh in again Blush

But despite existing on crisp sandwiches and peanut m&ms for the last week, I have lost nearly 2lb since Tuesday! So today I am 11.0.4 - nearly down into the next stone! Whoop whoop! If I'd weighed first thing before breakfast I might have made it!
