Struggling to keep up with thread, sorry.

Well done to all who have lost, and keep going to any who are struggling.

Had an up and down week but today I weigh 64.5, so still moving in the right direction.

Notsoskinnyminny · 06/12/2016 18:00

Woohoo I can zip up my favourite boots Grin the zip has stopped a good 1" short of the top for the last couple of years.

Really struggling with food in work as my mouth's still sore, I took my usual salad and fruit yesterday and couldn't eat it so had a tin of soup today but it didn't fill me up even though it had more calories - I think because it takes me ages to eat a salad my body thinks I've had more if that makes sense.

Taxi duty beckons, nuisance DS interfering with my MN time Grin

happychristmasbum · 06/12/2016 19:18

Thanks everyone for all the support. I have dropped to 1100 calories on mfp.

Also - TMI warning - repeat, TMI warning

There's a chance I may have been very constipated Xmas Blush

Ahem - will weigh in on Sunday and hopefully have good news to report.

Bibs2014 · 06/12/2016 19:36

I have had a awful day with my 2 yr old, he's been such a terror! They don't call them the terrible twos for nothing im realising! I've tried so hard to give him a nice day as I don't work on Tuesdays but it's been so tough.

Also - I found out today that my IVF cycle failed. I have been doing it for the last 6 weeks. Since this challenge started really. That's partly why I haven't stuck to it 100% as I'm not really supposed to be dieting and I'm not allowed to exercise.

So I just feel like a big fat failure.

I'm drowning my sorrows in baileys tonight but will be back with it tomorrow and with exercising too. Will be going for a frozen cycle in the new year so from tomorrow I am back on 1200 cals and exercising.

happychristmasbum · 06/12/2016 19:54

So sorry Bibs Flowers

I hope the next cycle is successful.

Lapinlapin · 06/12/2016 20:36

Bibs I sorry. That really sucks Sad
You're certainly not a failure.

And no-one would blame you for drowning your sorrows Flowers

Now I am a failure. Since I decided to calorie count...I've done absolutely nothing but eat Blush

Really seemed to have lost all motivation in the last couple of days and I know I need to get back on it.

Please someone give me a big kick up the backside!

MillieMoodle · 06/12/2016 22:32

Bibs so sorry to hear that Flowers I have everything crossed for you for the new year.

Had a rubbish day here. DS2 has cried nearly all day, I've got a stinking cold and bunny died unexpectedly Sad he was off his food yesterday, called vets this morning, they said bring him down at lunchtime, which I did. They said they'd keep him in to rehydrate him and get his digestive system moving properly again, and that I'd hopefully be able to collect him this evening or tomorrow. Then they called 3 hours later to say he'd died. They were really shocked at how quickly he'd deteriorated. I can't quite believe it. He was a house bun and we'd had him nearly 8 years. Our other bun hasn't got a clue what's going on. We took her to see him to say goodbye, but I can't believe he's not here any more.

So have eaten loads of crap this evening including McDonald's for dinner.

FleshEmoji · 07/12/2016 05:50

Finally found my way here.

My stats - started at 11 st 4 in Feb, size 14-16

Now 8st 7.6lb (yes, my scales are stupidly accurate but I love that 7 and I'm not rounding up!), and size 8-10. I'm short so probably should be a size 4 :-(

Original goal was 8 13, now aiming for 8 6.

Bibs2014 · 07/12/2016 08:19

Thanks everyone.

Mille sorry to hear about your bunny rabbit.

Flesh - amazing stats! Wow!

Breakfast is fruit yoghurt and a skinny latte. Lunch is roast pork slices in roll with salad and butternut squash soup.

GoodQueenWenchEatsLess · 07/12/2016 10:49

Bibs sorry to hear that .... fingers crossed for success next time x

millie what an awful shock about your poor bunny Sad hope you're ok

flesh wow amazing loss! You are inspiration on this thread! That is seriously impressive. How long did it take for you to actually look any different or drop a dress size? I've lost about half a stone so far but don't look or feel any slimmer yet, so although my scales are heading in the right direction, my waistline isn't following it ConfusedGrin

Today is a bit of a disaster already - been up half the night with poorly dd, which means no exercise bike this morning. And feeling so knackered from lack of sleep I seriously doubt I'll do it later. If I can't get it over and done with first thing, then I don't think I'll do it at all. Not eaten yet today as been sorting dd out so only had cup of tea when I first got up and flavoured latte a little while ago. Just hard boiling some eggs to have shortly. No idea what other meals will be today as high temperatures and dd not at school has derailed all my original plans for the day!

Did have a sneaky peak at the scales this morning and I'm at least 1lb lighter than Sunday Smile It took me a couple of weeks to get into the swing of MFP but now it seems to be really working.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 07/12/2016 10:52

bibs, sorry to hear about your cycle, here's hoping for better news in the near future - nothing to feel a failure about.
Millie poor bunny.
Survived my first Christmas event. Managed to only have one course, portions are stupidly large anyway, and one glass of wine.
No idea what to eat today, fridge looking bare so I need to go do some shopping.

FireflyGirl · 07/12/2016 12:54

Morning all, sorry for not updating. Things are getting a bit hectic now we're getting closer to Christmas.

Bibs Flowers You are not a failure - that really sucks. Hope DS's a bit better for you today. I think there's something in the air at the moment - DS is 20 monthsand usually pretty laid back, but the last week or so he's like a child possessed! I think he must be picking up on the Christmas excitement even though he doesn't understand! Good luck with the new plan.

Lapin have you got your days planned? Ie Monday I'm eating x for breakfast, y for lunch and z for dinner. Tuesday I've got Xmas party/fair/lunch with friends. Sometimes just setting it out like that helps me see where I can be a bit more free. I also think about my motivation again - that can be enough to keep me on track. And sometimes, as I proved last week, having a bit of a blow out can actually help weight loss.

Congratulations on the loss Adora!

They call that a non-scale victory, I believe, Notso Xmas Grin. Also, there was an article on MFP or Facebook a couple of days ago about exactly that - that it's volume not calories that fill you up.

happy do we say 'well done'? Not sure of the correct etiquette in this situation! Xmas Grin But hopefully that will be the reason you've been struggling. More fibre in future

Sorry about your bunny, Millie Flowers. How heartbreaking for you, especially at the moment.

Well done on your loss, Flesh. Those are the results we are all wanting to share this time next year! (Loss-wise, rather than weight-wise I mean).

Hurrah for your sneaky lb, Wench. Hope your dd is feeling a bit better today.

Loki you deserve a Halo and a gold Star for surviving temptation! How many more dos have you got to go?

Yesterday I had:
B : crumpets and fruit salad
L : beef teriyaki bites with a salad. If anyone is out and about and needs something to eat, the Marks & Spencer beef teriyaki bites with mooli ribbons and sweet soy dipping sauce are 189 cals for the pack and they are delicious! They're usually with the sushi. I also learned that mooli is a Japanese radish, and not a type of noodle as I assumed! Hence why they're so low calorie.
T: griddled chicken with Nando rub with boiled rice, salad and Nando sauce and a satsuma.

I had a handful of crisps later on as well - DH had his friend round and I gave him permission Xmas Wink to take his pick from the Christmas box. Aldi beef and red wine, and they were very nice.

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 07/12/2016 14:47

Hey everyone - sorry I've not logged in for ages and couldn't find the thread. I'm having a disaster - I think I've put about 4lbs on! Too scared to actually weigh myself. We went away for a little pre winter break and I overindulged on the drinks somewhat! I'm so annoyed at myself and hoping that it is just water weight that has packed on. I feel like a wildebeest! It's our Christmas do next week and I have nothing to wear either - bloody hate party season! Anyways - sorry for the cheery uplifting message!

MillieMoodle · 07/12/2016 17:11

Thanks all, still in shock about bun. Can't believe it all happened so quickly. Have cleaned out his cage and put in the garage as couldn't bear looking at an empty cage. Have also moved remaining bun to where he used to be, so she isn't staring at an empty space.

Breakfast today was rice crispies, tea and actimel. Lunch was vegetable soup and two pieces of toast. Also have had 5 Jaffa cakes and 4 lebkuchen so not a good day really. Having potato skins with cheese and bacon for dinner as DH is out with work.

Am full of cold so feeling very sorry for myself today. Just wishing the hours away until bedtime this evening; I hardly slept last night, DS2 had his jabs today so is a bit unsettled and DS1 is as lively as ever. If anyone has any tips for getting rid of a cold ASAP, please share!

FleshEmoji · 07/12/2016 17:23

GoodQueen sadly like most things diet-related, it got better at the end. I'd say it was almost a stone before anyone noticed, though maybe only 8-10lb to drop my first size. Each pound shows a lot more now - I've dropped 3 over as many weeks, and some people have noticed that (or think they have!)

I think I need to lose 4 stone or more for my DF to notice. Sometime around the 2.5 stone mark, he asked me how the diet was going.

I said "Can't you tell?"

He looked me up and down and said, "No, not really. You're no beanpole."

How I resisted falling face first into some yummy cheese, I'll never know.

FleshEmoji · 07/12/2016 17:27

Firefly girl - teriyaki beef sounds yum.

I love cooking Japanese food but it's never quite the same without rice, and either I'm making cauliflower rice wrongly or it's disgusting.

FireflyGirl · 07/12/2016 17:33

You're not making it wrongly... Xmas Wink

OP posts:
Ice3 · 07/12/2016 18:04

I tried cauliflower rice and it was really not good. The Tesco delivery driver tried to substitute my courgetti for it again this week. It's the first time I've refused a substitution.

SmellTheGlove · 07/12/2016 18:11

poor bunny Sad. Today I have eaten mostly chocolate, was at work and we have got into a bad habit of bringing treats to our Wednesday meeting. Normally they are biscuits which I have to resist being gluten free, but today was chocs and sweets which I ate many of...bit nervous of scales tomorrow as I am still 6 pounds down in 6 weeks and only 2 pounds off my goal..

Notsoskinnyminny · 07/12/2016 18:40

Bibs sorry to hear your news. Be kind to yourself and DH, I've got friends who've gone through IVF so know how hard it is on couples especially when friends are pussy-footing around and don't know what to say so if you need to rant I'm sure the others won't mind if you use this thread Flowers

millie poor bunny, I bet you couldn't believe it when you got the call from the vets. I'd have been in bits [flowers} for you too. For your cold I pop 4 hourly cold and flu tabs (own brands are just as good as beechams) and to try and avoid the dreaded catarrgh (which is always worse than the cold) I mix thyme essential oil with olive oil and rub on my throat and chest before bed and put a few drops in a bowl of hot water by the side of the bed. I know eucalyptus is supposed to be good but it just makes my eyes stream!

flesh that's an amazing loss and you deserve a Halo for not decking DH. I was back upto my happy weight of 8st4 when I met DH 10 years ago following the break up diet and then losing 20lbs due to illness in under 3 wks a couple of years later. Both times I was under 7 stone - the first time I thought I looked great with size 6 jeans hanging off me but the second time I could see how gaunt I was. I don't think I'll ever reach my happy weight as we like nice meals and wine too much but I'd love to get down to 8st10 and be able to maintain my weight.

wench I had an early weigh in this morning and was 1lb down although it'll probably be undone after tomorrow's xmas dinner - I know I won't have loki's willpower Xmas Grin

Cauli rice by itself it bleurgh but I add flavour by blitzing peppers, fennel, chillis and garlic with it and then stirfry it with king prawns or peppered steak.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 07/12/2016 20:04

firefly two more do's next week but these are full on three courses, actually I think one may be four. I'm planning on not eating the whole of each course. To be honest having been careful with eating over the last few weeks I get fuller quicker anyway. Today I had cheesy scrambled eggs for brunch and pasta with a tomato and veg sauce for dinner. Small piece of chocolate cake and that's me done.

FireflyGirl · 07/12/2016 20:49

I know what you mean, Loki. I don't eat half as much as I used to, and I'm only hungry at mealtimes iykwim. Good luck for next week!

Might have to try jazzing up cauliflower rice a la Notso.

Smell the chocolates probably won't show tomorrow. But just draw a line under it, and I hope you enjoyed them!

Today I've had:
B : apple (got carried away baking Christmas-y banana bread with DS and forgot. Didn't even have any of the finished product - I can't stand bananas. I bake everything with them in then I don't touch it!)
L : Chicken salad with feta and feta stuffed peppers
T : sausage and fennel pasta with steamed veg, and 4 dinky deckers.

Anyone who is using MFP - apparently there are 80 cals in an apple. That's the equivalent of eg 4 bits of dinky deckers chocolate - surely that can't be right?!?

Bibs2014 · 07/12/2016 22:27

I've had a great food day but I failed on the exercise front. Worked late, got home put DS to bed and sat down to dinner at 9pm - but not before I whipped together a beef casserole for tomorrow's dinner! Everything has been a bit neglected recently with everything that's been going on, including cooking for DS. Can't keep giving him pasta and pesto Grin

Thanks for all your well wishes Flowers

Today's menu ended up being:

Grapes, yoghurt, skinny latte
Soup, pork salad roll
Pasta, loads of veg and chorizo in a tomato sauce
Fruit and my advent calendar chocolate

GoodQueenWenchEatsLess · 08/12/2016 09:56

Morning All,

Went slightly over my calorie allowance yesterday due to not doing my exercise bike as dd was poorly. Still only about 75 over though (due to having a banana at bedtime) so quite happy with that. Meals yesterday were:

Brunch - eggs and avocado on seeded toast

Dinner - chicken in breadcrumbs escalope thing, tiny bit of mash potato with peas & sweet corn.

Snacks - flavoured latte; small bit of dds left over choc chop brioche roll; hot choc and banana at bedtime.

Today's meals are:

B - 2 rashers of grilled bacon with 2 hard boiled eggs. Tea.

L - tuna mayo sandwich on seeded bread. Flavoured latte.

D - not sure but likely to be cod steaks and homemade potato wedges with veg.

Also back on the bike this morning and completed my 5k. As much as I don't really enjoy doing it, I did almost miss it when I was unable to do it yesterday morning!

How is everyone else today?

Bibs2014 · 08/12/2016 16:18

Hiya I'm doing ok but haven't left myself much for dinner again!

Menu is

Pigs in blankets from EAT - addicted!
Brown roll
Grapes

Lunch was soup

Dinner is beef casserole and cabbage

Snacks are 1 water biscuit, forest fruit yogurt slices, 2 digestives and fruit. Shouldn't have had the digestives!
