The No S Diet [title edited by MNHQ]

I've decided that I finally need to commit to losing my baby weight. I have 2 stone (ideally more to lose). But will just take it half a stone at a time. I am not really into crazy diets. So I've gone for the 's' diet which is basically eat sensibly diet! No snacks, seconds or 'sweets' (includes cakes etc ) except on days beginning with s (weekends and special days). So three meals a day basically. Does anyone want to join me or be my supporter? I lost 1.5 lb the first week, but then gained 0.3. Next weigh in is Monday and today I was 2.5lb lighter so I'm hoping I will have lost something. I am piling up a bit on the meals but figure that I need that to stick to it at the moment. Hopefully as I adjust I can make the meals smaller/healthier too. Looking forward to the weekend for a pudding and some wine!

Ah thanks Ariston, I do tend to be rather hard on myself! Just annoying that I know the bites of things aren't really enjoyable and have no trouble refusing them in the week. One day I will learn... Thanks for the encouragement Smile

twofloorsup · 29/01/2017 09:17

Posie I think that's me deep down which is why I've made the rule that anything sweet I'm going to have has to be one of my three plates.
That way when it comes down to it I have to choose between full blown meal or a pudding or some chocolates. Yesterday I didn't have anything sweet as I just didn't fancy it.
We all have to work it out our own way and do what works for us.

Nan0second · 29/01/2017 09:42

I've stuck to the rules all week and then went a bit mad with chocolate last night. I'm annoyed with myself as I'm desperate to lose weight and binging is not the way to do that.
I gained 500g last week (weighed on Tuesday) having had a good start.
I'm fed up but I also know this is the right lifestyle choice for me if I can make it work.

PosiePootlePerkins · 29/01/2017 13:57

Right, feeling more positive today, have had one shortbread biscuit this morning and some apple pie for dessert, and am planning on no more treats today. I don't think it would work for me putting the treat on my plate because I need to know i am having a decent meal (told you I am greedy!), but I understand the thinking behind it. I am just going to work on really thinking before I have a treat, if it will actually feel like a treat. I can only try. At least the weeks are going well for me at the moment. Will see what the scales say in the morning!

twofloorsup · 29/01/2017 19:07

I haven't had anything yet this weekend S wise but I'm not sure I actually fancy it again.
I'm sort of thinking I should purely because it's another 6 days til I can and if I don't I may rebel ???
Is that weird way of thinking or part of the process ?

PosiePootlePerkins · 29/01/2017 19:12

Well the ideal (which I have yet to achieve!) is that you have S treats 'sometimes' on S days. So if you genuinely don't fancy anything then I would say no point in having it for the sake of it. Which comes back to my own issue, a treat should be something you have planned carefully and will really enjoy. The ideal, as I say. Not the reality yet for me!

twofloorsup · 29/01/2017 20:31

Yes that makes sense.
I've just had some semolina minus the sugar with fruit , raisins and coconut. Not sure if I should class it as an S or not , as it has less fat and calories than oats which is what I have for breakfast. Any ideas ?

PosiePootlePerkins · 29/01/2017 22:11

Sounds healthy twofloorsup but as it is Sunday I wouldn't worry anyway! Hope everyone has had a great weekend, I shall weigh in in the morning.

twofloorsup · 29/01/2017 22:14

Good point Smile

PosiePootlePerkins · 30/01/2017 07:12

Have weighed in and lost 1 1/2lb! Very pleased and still amazed that this is working. Have a great week everyone.

Cakingbad · 30/01/2017 07:17

Well done Posie. It's great that something so simple works so well.

beela · 30/01/2017 07:26

Yay Posie!

I'm feeling pleased because I feel like my weekends are gradually getting more moderate. I'm only 3 weeks in though. Week 4 starts here... Bring it on!

OohNoDooEy · 30/01/2017 12:07

Hi all - back on the wagon today. Was pretty terrible yesterday but only a day and not undone all the work.

I'm now 7lbs down after two weeks of it so working for me. I'm definitely eating more at my meals than I used to but am pleasantly surprised at how easily I'm going between meals now.

Just another 6lbs to healthy BMI which is my first target.

Good luck for this week everyone.

PosiePootlePerkins · 30/01/2017 13:43

Thank you, and well done everyone for making progress, either on the scales or with your eating habits (or both!) Smile

twofloorsup · 30/01/2017 15:25

Well done everyone that's really encouraging. I'm getting bored of my meals at the moment so need to change that quick before it becomes a ready excuse to slip.

PosiePootlePerkins · 30/01/2017 17:05

I find it someasy to get into a rut with meals twofloorsup and I'm not great at planning ahead, its usually more a case of 'what's in the fridge/freezer'.
I am quite excited as I have been for my initial consultation about getting invisalign braces fitted. I have wanted to do this for a long time and we finally have a bit of money put aside. It will fit in perfectly with NoS as I cannot snack with them in! They have to be worn 22 hrs out of 24 and you only take them out for main meals. I think it will definitely help with my weekends too, I will have to have seconds and sweet things with my meals which I know is what some of you do and find helpful.
Finally feel like I can focus on me this year a bit, get my weight sorted, get my teeth sorted, I am getting my skin sorted, happy days!

PosiePootlePerkins · 30/01/2017 17:05
  • so easy
twofloorsup · 30/01/2017 19:39

Exciting stuff Posie and sounds like it could be helpful too Smile

beela · 30/01/2017 20:00

Re. meals.... I have been eating more healthily because it is more satisfying and I know it will fill me up for longer. But I think you do have to be prepared.

Today I had Indian style chickpeas with salad and mint yoghurt in a wrap for lunch (I saw the recipe in one of the free supermarket mags at the weekend). It only took 10 minutes to make and was really tasty (plus there's enough for tomorrow, bonus) but if I hadn't thought ahead then I would have rummaged in the fridge and probably ended up with cheese on toast, which would have been no quicker and I would have been hungry sooner.

PosiePootlePerkins · 30/01/2017 20:08

That sounds yummy beelaSmile

twofloorsup · 30/01/2017 20:18

You're absolutely right beela. Cheese on toast has become a quick and easy go to for me this month !

beela · 30/01/2017 22:00

Posie it was lovely!

Cakingbad · 30/01/2017 22:15

Well done every one Great loss OohNo. My target is my healthy BMI too. And I am confident that No S will get me there by summer Smile.
Have a good week everybody. I've been eating a lot of cheese on toast too!

Roundisashape · 31/01/2017 14:17

Hi all. I love the idea of this way of eating. But remain obsessive about immediate results, if I don't see a noticeable movement on the scales I resort to sod it and stuff my face. I am aware this is not an ideal approach Grin. How long did it take you to see results?

Also I really struggle to not eat everything in sight between 4-6pm but actually have dinner around 8. Do you think this is just a matter of training, does it get easier to leave the gaps between meals (I am a serious snacker)?

Sorry to be new and just interrogate you all. I am desperate to do something sustainable, which gets results and where I don't feel deprived. Not asking for much am I?

twofloorsup · 31/01/2017 14:42

Round I tend to have massive meals at the moment so I can last between. Breakfast is at 7:00,lunch 14:30 and dinner anywhere between 19:00-20:30 depends how I feel.
I'm sure at some point I'll have to make them smaller but for now it's how I'm coping and it's far better than eating anything and everything and all day long Smile
