The No S Diet [title edited by MNHQ]

I've decided that I finally need to commit to losing my baby weight. I have 2 stone (ideally more to lose). But will just take it half a stone at a time. I am not really into crazy diets. So I've gone for the 's' diet which is basically eat sensibly diet! No snacks, seconds or 'sweets' (includes cakes etc ) except on days beginning with s (weekends and special days). So three meals a day basically. Does anyone want to join me or be my supporter? I lost 1.5 lb the first week, but then gained 0.3. Next weigh in is Monday and today I was 2.5lb lighter so I'm hoping I will have lost something. I am piling up a bit on the meals but figure that I need that to stick to it at the moment. Hopefully as I adjust I can make the meals smaller/healthier too. Looking forward to the weekend for a pudding and some wine!

Can I join you? I absolutely say with confidence that my main down fall is snacking once the dc are in bed, if I were to stick to just three meals a day, I'm fairly sure I'd lose weight. I need to lose at least two stone, maybe more?

PosiePootlePerkins · 27/01/2017 06:32

Twofloorsup that is great news! It is almost a relief to lose the sugar demon!
Chocoholic well done you are off to a great start.
Redcaryellowcar welcome! Hope NoS works well for you. I have around 2 1/2 stone to lose, and am now 10 pounds down, this is a slow weight loss plan and helps you address your relationship with food. Any questions just ask.Smile

Cocopopsrule · 27/01/2017 09:25

Hello. May I join? I have about 11kg to lose. I'll be 39 in a month so being a couple of kg down by then would be a nice birthday present to myself.

beela · 27/01/2017 09:40

Hello cocopopsrule and redcaryellowcar Smile

Cocopopsrule · 27/01/2017 10:23

mimiasovitch · 27/01/2017 12:21

Hello all, well done those who've lost. You're an inspiration, especially when things aren't going to plan. This week has been a good one, but the end of last week and the weekend were hard. I've had a terrible cold which left me miserable and STARVING the whole time. Honestly, dog biscuits were starting to look interesting. A few days on and I'm feeling far less snotty, and not as hungry. I've snacked a bit, but mainly on clementines and plums, which I've conned myself are medicinal (for one week only). Yesterday and today have been/will be textbook. It's definitely feeling like a natural way to eat now. Even when I ate biscuits like they were going out of fashion (on the weekend- honest) I stopped far earlier than I would have a few months ago, and still went for a plate full of veggies at dinner.

PosiePootlePerkins · 27/01/2017 13:05

Welcome cocopops hope it goes well for you this time around Smile
Mimiasovitch glad you're feeling a bit better, I think the extra fruit is most definitely allowed, in fact you can take the days you are unwell as 'S' (sick) days so no need to feel guilty! Glad you are noticing a difference in your eating habits too.
Nearly the weekend everyone, may your treats be enjoyable and (reasonably) sensible! I am still working on that!Smile

I've just refilled after a 9 hour gap between breakfast and lunch
Pre No S I would have convinced myself that I was going to die !!
Yes it was uncomfortable but not impossible.
The sugar demon has definitely left me in peace which is nice.

TheChampagneGalop · 27/01/2017 17:20

Welcome new people!

This is really making me tackle my emotional overeating. Last week I binged some. But now -
I'm absolutely amazed by the fact that I haven't really wanted to eat sugar today. The only sweet thing I'd like to eat tomorrow is dark chocolate. Praise the lord for this dramatic change Grin
Hope it lasts.

twofloorsup · 27/01/2017 17:24

It's an incredible change isn't it !

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 27/01/2017 18:14

Some great stories here over the last few weeks- well done everyone. I am pleased to say that I am now a stone down in just under 4 months Halo

Pizza is fine on no S - one of the great things about it is that you have some unhealthy food without breaking the rules but you can't have too much of it. Also being properly hungry I find I crave more healthy food and eat that most of the time.

eltsihT · 27/01/2017 18:32

the Kids had swimming lessons today I had 3 cookies out of the bag of 5. They were meant to be 1 for each ds today and 1 for all three of us tomorrow. I was just so hungry and they were there. I really enjoyed them but now feel a bit sick.

I had had lunch at 11.15 as I didn't have time later but think the early lunch caused me to be so hungry.

Cakingbad · 27/01/2017 20:31

Well done on your losses Lume and Serenade.

Enjoy your weekend S days everyone. I am aiming to have just one really special snack each day as I don't want to go ape in the snack cupboard.

AristonAndOn · 27/01/2017 22:00

Have an enjoyable no S weekend 😀

AristonAndOn · 27/01/2017 22:52

I mean S weekend 😳

AristonAndOn · 28/01/2017 10:27

The one thing getting me down since I've started this diet, is I'm getting spots all over my face. I suffer from eczema and psoriasis and take very good car of my skin, yet I'm getting so many spots. Could you be related to losing weight, a change in my diet? I've read weight loss can cause normal changes so perhaps it will settle down. Anyone with any insight greatly appreciated. Thanks

AristonAndOn · 28/01/2017 10:28

So many mistakes in that last post, I mean I've heard weight loss can cause hormonal changes.

PosiePootlePerkins · 28/01/2017 10:42

Ariston I also suffer with bad skin but mine is rosacea which is at last under control thanks to a new cream. I use Estee Lauder doublewear maximum cover camouflage makeup to cover up the redness. I do think hormones play a part but also where your body is going through a change of diet, you might find it settles down.

twofloorsup · 28/01/2017 18:16

I'm sat here watching my kids eat my Christmas chocolates because I just don't want them Shock
This diet is life changing for me and I'm only 4 weeks in !
Hope you're all having a good weekend.

beela · 28/01/2017 18:20

Nice work twofloorsup!

I've been snacking on kids tea just because I can, since it's an s day, and tbh I feel a bit sick now and am not really looking forward to my tea. Who'd have thought I'd miss feeling hungry?!

twofloorsup · 28/01/2017 19:06

Hunger is such an alien feeling to me as I've always eaten well before hunger hit. I think I'm slightly addicted to the sensation now which helps Smile

AristonAndOn · 28/01/2017 21:57

I went out to dinner tonight and didn't over indulge at all. I could have but felt guilty about doing that. It's the old diet talk in my head. But, if I'm quite happy without it then I shouldn't have it for the sake of it. It's a tricky situation to navigate. My in laws weren't happy I didn't have a dessert. I'm worried about triggering a binge. I'm making a nice roast dinner tomorrow and I think I'd much prefer to have seconds with that!

twofloorsup · 28/01/2017 22:06

Well done saying no Ariston.
I'm still in shock at how the thought of sweet food makes me feel !

PosiePootlePerkins · 28/01/2017 22:25

Today was a bit picky, I had a chocolate muller pudding thing, two squares of milk chocolate, a bite of DHs cake in the cafe, and four chocolate mints. I am going to be completely honest and say I didn't really enjoy them. I still have that mentality of 'treats day, must have sweet things' which makes me feel frustrated with myself because after 4 months I still haven't really learnt my lesson!
The positive I will take from it is that I did stop after a reasonable amount, whereas in the past the two squares of chocolate, for example, would have turned into 4, then 8 etc. The bite of cake would have been my own huge slice. Etc.
So maybe I am sloooowly finding my off switch, it just needs a lot of oiling!!
Well done everyone who is doing a better job than me of being moderate!

AristonAndOn · 28/01/2017 22:37

I think you did brilliantly Posie. You had bites of things which is good, I don't trust myself yet, those bites would normally end up whole bars! I think we are doing very well. It's a real learning curve.
