The No S Diet [title edited by MNHQ]

I've decided that I finally need to commit to losing my baby weight. I have 2 stone (ideally more to lose). But will just take it half a stone at a time. I am not really into crazy diets. So I've gone for the 's' diet which is basically eat sensibly diet! No snacks, seconds or 'sweets' (includes cakes etc ) except on days beginning with s (weekends and special days). So three meals a day basically. Does anyone want to join me or be my supporter? I lost 1.5 lb the first week, but then gained 0.3. Next weigh in is Monday and today I was 2.5lb lighter so I'm hoping I will have lost something. I am piling up a bit on the meals but figure that I need that to stick to it at the moment. Hopefully as I adjust I can make the meals smaller/healthier too. Looking forward to the weekend for a pudding and some wine!

Lessthan you know what I am going to say.....mark it and move on! (I am so predictable)
And actually one biscuit could easily have led to more, or chocolate, or cake....so I am going to say well done for stoppingSmile

chocoholic89 · 25/01/2017 19:03

Yeah that makes sense i would normally have had crisp and biscuit with my sandwich today had my tea had a glass of water while eating i would normally have pop, il have a proper look online. Smile

Lessthanaballpark · 25/01/2017 19:14

Ah cheers for the support Posie Smile It was only one and I will snap out of it because .....

  • even though I haven't lost much weight I do feel a lot trimmer. I don't look in the mirror and go "bleurgh".
  • if I give up now it's a waste of almost a month.

There you go, self motivational talk over Grin

Onward and upward!

PosiePootlePerkins · 25/01/2017 19:28

Lessthan That's the spirit! SmileSmileSmile

chocoholic89 · 25/01/2017 20:41

I don't feel like I have missed out today, how long has it taken some of you to lose weight?

eltsihT · 25/01/2017 20:48

I lost just over a stone in 6 months, maintained for about 6 months and put on half a stone over December so am re-focussing. It is generally slow loss but it's easy to keep going with it.

PosiePootlePerkins · 25/01/2017 21:15

Thanks for the hug Ariston!
Chocoholic this is a slow weight loss plan for me, because I love my food and refuse to have small plates! However I have lost 10lb in 16 weeks so it is working. Also as a yoyo dieter I am more focussed on addressing my poor relationship with food, which NoS is definitely helping with.

PosiePootlePerkins · 25/01/2017 21:17

Also agree with eltsihT that it is a way of eating for life, whereas with other diets I have always given up because it is too difficult to sustain whatever way of eating I am following. This I can honestly say I can see myself doing foreverSmile

chocoholic89 · 25/01/2017 21:34

Good results Star
Yeah I agree I dont want to feel deprived and cook different meals to what my family are eating I think that's where I have gone wrong in the past.
My ds fell asleep before tea today and just woke up hungry, I managed to make him a little snack without making some for me! Will power ha ha

Cakingbad · 26/01/2017 12:22

Good luck with this Chocoholic. It is a good plan and it does seem to work. It took me 3 weeks to eliminate my snacking habits. But now I am on track and not feeling at all deprived. I enjoy my three meals a lot - and I look forward to each one, which is great I think and seems kind of "right". My meals are really generous platefuls of all sorts of normal, lovely food.
This week I lost over a kilo. I am doing a regular Thursday weigh in with a friend to keep the motivation up. Last week I was 74.7 and this week I am 73.4. So a good result - and I did have some treats at the weekend.

beela · 26/01/2017 14:02

Wow, well done caking, that's great Smile

I am finding the no snacking hard today because I am at work and a little bit bored. However, I resisted popping to the newsagent for some chocolate on my way back to the office after lunch, so I don't have anything to snack on which is a plus.

I am nearly at the end of week 3 and I do think it's getting easier, but I haven't dared check my weight because I'll be so disappointed if I've lost nothing Confused

Cakingbad · 26/01/2017 14:14

Thanks Beela. I didn't weigh myself the first three weeks because I was still slipping up and absentmindedly snacking. Why not take your end of week 3 weight as your starting point?
Well done for not popping into the newsagent. Good work.

LumelaMme · 26/01/2017 14:25

Just popping back after an epic silence to say that, with the odd relapse and still having a couple of biscuits at teatime when the DC get home from school, I've lost just over 2lb in three weeks. That's fine by me; it means that the flobble with have gone by the summer. I'm eating a lot more fruit and veg than I was, too.

Congrats to all who are sticking with it and not falling off the wagon like I am!

twofloorsup · 26/01/2017 16:23

I am still plodding along and really enjoying this way of eating. Still not weighing myself but I definitely think my muffin top is looking more fairy cake like today which has pleased me greatly Smile

Lessthanaballpark · 26/01/2017 17:07

I need a bit of clarification on what is classified as S and what is not.

Um...is pizza S or no S? It was very healthifully topped up with fresh veg but I'm not sure if the dough pushes it over to the dark side Blush

PosiePootlePerkins · 26/01/2017 17:16

Pizza is fine as long as it fits on the plate! Its only sweet things you have to cut out in the week.

Lessthanaballpark · 26/01/2017 17:18

Super! Cos it was delicious and I did give the crusts to DS Halo

beela · 26/01/2017 18:28

I braved the scales.... and I've lost just over 1lb this week! I had geared myself up for disappointment so although it's not a huge loss I am really pleased Smile

Cakingbad · 26/01/2017 19:41

Well done Beela!

PosiePootlePerkins · 26/01/2017 19:43

Yay beela! A pound is a minus, and you're going in the right direction! Well done.
Lumela 2 lb is also fab over 3 weeks, definitely a good loss.
I was thinking back over the many diets I have followed over the years, the one I had most 'success' with was Rosemary Conley back in 2008. I lost almost 5 stone in around 6 months and was the star of the class, very much immersed myself in the diet and even travelled twice to meet the woman herself. But that diet, like all the others, was a real effort to stick to and required every ounce of willpower. I was extremely strict with myself and wouldn't allow myself any 'cheats' whatsoever.
Of course once I lost the weight I gradually reverted to my old bad habits and gained lots of the weight back. There was no way I could have maintained eating that way, counting every last calorie, checking every food packet for grams of fat, it was just mentally exhausting. Interestingly, even at my lowest weight, able to run 5k and a size 8-10, I still wasn't happy with my body.
This is different. This is something I can do for life.
I don't care if it takes me months to lose the weight. I am learning moderation, I am also learning to like myself a bit more.

eltsihT · 26/01/2017 20:02

Well I totally failed tonight.

Had a rubbish day at school 3 periods of invidulation I managed to resist the open boxes of roses in the staff room. Drive home then took 1hr 45mins (normally 45 minute) and I had 3 tic taks.

However we had dominos for dinner tonight as I couldn't face cooking and as it was cheaper to get it with sides I ate more than I should. Also has 2 cans of fruit cider to drink.

At least tomorrow is another day

Well done on everyone loosing weight!

PosiePootlePerkins · 26/01/2017 20:07

eltsihT that doesn't sound too bad, just a bigger dinner than you should have had and a couple of drinks....well done for resisting the chocolates! Smile
One more NoS day folks.

twofloorsup · 26/01/2017 20:30

One more no S day but not sure I fancy anything sweet nowadays.
Weird how much my tastes have changed in less than 4 weeks !

chocoholic89 · 26/01/2017 21:12

Day two went well for me I'm just getting the thought of a nibble of something, going to make a raspberry tea try kick away my old habits.
