The No S Diet [title edited by MNHQ]

I've decided that I finally need to commit to losing my baby weight. I have 2 stone (ideally more to lose). But will just take it half a stone at a time. I am not really into crazy diets. So I've gone for the 's' diet which is basically eat sensibly diet! No snacks, seconds or 'sweets' (includes cakes etc ) except on days beginning with s (weekends and special days). So three meals a day basically. Does anyone want to join me or be my supporter? I lost 1.5 lb the first week, but then gained 0.3. Next weigh in is Monday and today I was 2.5lb lighter so I'm hoping I will have lost something. I am piling up a bit on the meals but figure that I need that to stick to it at the moment. Hopefully as I adjust I can make the meals smaller/healthier too. Looking forward to the weekend for a pudding and some wine!

Well I weighed in and have gained half a pound, but it is time of the month too so I am not surprised. Been fine so far today. Hope everyone has a good week.

twofloorsup · 16/01/2017 16:50

Hi all. Busy day today which meant I had breakfast at 7:15 and just doing some lunch now. Not even sure I'll want dinner later as I'm so tired. Hope you're all doing ok.

Nan0second · 16/01/2017 18:50

Managed to avoid cake at toddler group and biscuits at a friend's.
Weigh in tomorrow morning...

AristonAndOn · 16/01/2017 19:09

Good luck nano. My weigh in is Wednesday but today I started using a Fitbit so might change it to Mondays as it wanted my weight yesterday.

beela · 16/01/2017 20:12

Had my tea with the kids at 5.30. Just going swimming so the challenge will be avoiding the (Christmas!) chocolates when I get in from that later on.

PosiePootlePerkins · 16/01/2017 20:48

I have to say we are all sounding very focussed! Every time you manage to avoid cakes, biscuits etc etc you are building and strengthening the habit. Keep it up everyone!Smile

Cakingbad · 16/01/2017 23:15

Bit of a fail this evening as a bit of snacking crept in. But will "mark it and move on" as recommended by Posie. Determined to get back on the straight and narrow tomorrow. Am feeling very positive about this plan despite today's slide. Good luck everyone.

panicovernow · 17/01/2017 10:32

Weighed yesterday and stayed the same. Failed last night though after a rubbish afternoon/evening spent with DD(8) in A&E After falling and landing on her wrist thankfully not broken, just sprained. Ended up drinking wine and eating cheese and crackers last night Blush On the plus side I have started exercising Halo

GlumsTheWord · 17/01/2017 17:32

I have fallen off the wagon unfortunately. I have had a health scare this week - and it has thrown me a bit. I really want to carry on with no s but have been indulging in some emotional eating I'm afraid. I hope that I can climb back on soon.

PosiePootlePerkins · 17/01/2017 18:22

Caking absolutely the right approach, I love the fact that NoS is so forgiving!*
Panic* sorry about your DD, such a worry and very difficult to follow any kind of eating plan when you're stuck in A&E!
Glum poor youFlowers of course you are struggling to stick with NoS, completely understandable. You have it to go back to when you're ready. Hope all is OK.

PosiePootlePerkins · 17/01/2017 18:23

Bold fail oops!

AristonAndOn · 17/01/2017 19:14

I hope everyone is feeling ok tonight. I guess falling off the wagon is part of the journey and getting back on it is the trick -something I'm rubbish at! ((Hugs)) to everyone who needs it. 😊

Nan0second · 17/01/2017 19:19

Sorry to hear some are struggling.
When you're ready, get back on wagon.
I have had a 3lb loss this week, total now 4lb. A long way to go but a really good start for me.

PosiePootlePerkins · 17/01/2017 19:34

Nan0second well done that is a fantastic start!

Lessthanaballpark · 17/01/2017 19:56

Hope it was just a scare Glum and all ok with you Flowers

Cakingbad · 17/01/2017 21:25

Well done Nan0. That gives me hope.

twofloorsup · 17/01/2017 22:35

Hi all late one for me tonight as I've been busy. Had a bit of a lightbulb moment tonight. Again didn't get to eat until 4 pm. Instead of trying to cook something I had a piece of toast and 3 bits of fruit. And that was all I needed Smile
Always thought I needed 3 big fat plates to get through the day but it turns out the middle one is only to keep me going til the last one.

Hope you're all ok and anyone who's fallen off just jump back on as soon as you feel able.

AristonAndOn · 18/01/2017 12:37

Second weigh in today and have lost 3 1/2 lbs this week 😊 So pleased. A long way to go, but it's all in the right direction!

mimiasovitch · 18/01/2017 14:03

Well done Ariston. That's fantastic. I'm feeling a bit disheartened if I'm honest. I've been very disciplined in the week, last weekend wasn't the absolute blowout that I've been prone to previous weekends, I walk 3-5 miles every day, but there is no movement at all. None. I don't know whether the Christmas overflow is hanging on for some reason, and that another week will make all the difference, or that I need to de-vanilla a bit. Maybe add a fast day. Yesterday I only had carbs at breakfast, but it was a slow night in work and I was climbing the walls by the time I got home. If anyone can suggest anything It'd be much appreciated.

TheChampagneGalop · 18/01/2017 14:44

I have also fallen off the wagon. I am on it again today though, after 2 failed days.

beela · 18/01/2017 16:07

I think I need to do a weigh in so that I can track progress. Fell off the wagon yesterday making pizzas with the dc and eating the toppings! But consoled myself with the thought of all the snacks and sugary things that I had already not eaten that day.

PosiePootlePerkins · 18/01/2017 16:21

Mimiasovitch have you posted on the NoS forum? I know there is a similar thread on there somewhere too with lots of good tips too. I would say just hang on in there for a while longer, it may just be taking longer for your body to adjust. I understand that it is disheartening when you're following the rules.
Ariston yay! So pleased it is continuing to work for you.
Champagne good for you getting back on it. Just keep trying!
I am doing Ok, sticking to plan although last night we all had fish and chips, I didn't eat the batter, and left quite a few chips in the box, so it did all fit on the plate! Healthier homemade curry tonight.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 18/01/2017 16:57

Mimi, I found the same - other people have weight fall off doing this and I had nothing! I've added in fasting and I'm trying to exercise more. For me, I think I would have had to reduce my portions a lot to see any weight loss. I am prepared to do that if need be, but it is slow adjusting things and seeing if it works, so I introduced fast days to make it quicker. In theory. I've lost 4lbs in 2 weeks but most of it was in week 1. I truly am eating a lot less on N days! Maybe I need to rein S days in as well. I'm short and sedentary, but I'm limited really to exercise I can do in the house or at lunchtime - kids are small and won't walk nicely, I can't leave them in the house to go for a run, and actually, it's pitch dark outside when I get home at this time of year.

mimiasovitch · 18/01/2017 17:41

I think I'm feeling a bit down as I know I'm eating a lot less than I did. The first few weekends were ridiculous, and I can see how eating like that on weekdays was adding masses of unnecessary calories. Now - not even a stray satsuma. I'm sure it'll balance eventually. If I go down the traditional diet route I'll end up bigger than ever, and I feel in my heart of hearts this will fix my food issues. I guess wanting to lose 3 stone as well is being a little ambitious. I've also been starving the past few days, but right now I have a sore throat and feel wobbly, which doesn't help. Enough self pity now - onwards!

AristonAndOn · 18/01/2017 18:50

Hi Mimi. I've been really hungry and have luckily has a good weight loss to keep me motivated, it must be so difficult to stay positive if you aren't getting the results. Now I have 7 stone to lose, so I think that is a factor in my initial success as I was overeating so much. I really do think it will sort my eating issues over time, but it's not a quick thing. I'm useless at getting back on the wagon when I fail, but am hoping this diet is forgiving enough that I won't give up. Lots of luck this week. 💐
