The No S Diet [title edited by MNHQ]

I've decided that I finally need to commit to losing my baby weight. I have 2 stone (ideally more to lose). But will just take it half a stone at a time. I am not really into crazy diets. So I've gone for the 's' diet which is basically eat sensibly diet! No snacks, seconds or 'sweets' (includes cakes etc ) except on days beginning with s (weekends and special days). So three meals a day basically. Does anyone want to join me or be my supporter? I lost 1.5 lb the first week, but then gained 0.3. Next weigh in is Monday and today I was 2.5lb lighter so I'm hoping I will have lost something. I am piling up a bit on the meals but figure that I need that to stick to it at the moment. Hopefully as I adjust I can make the meals smaller/healthier too. Looking forward to the weekend for a pudding and some wine!

Ah I see. I have finally reached the stage where my boys will (mostly) eat the same as me, or sometimes I cook for them, plus a meal for me and DH, and he heats it up when he gets in. Also he works away a lot which helpsGrinWink

PosiePootlePerkins · 12/01/2017 19:23

PS no way would I last until 8.30pm to eat, I would be chewing my own arm off!GrinGrin

AristonAndOn · 12/01/2017 22:19

Oh no I couldn't last till 8.30 ShockWe all eat together at 6. I find bit harder. At first i was struggling all day, but now waiting for lunch is easier, waiting for dinner is hard!

Bestbees · 13/01/2017 06:53

I struggle with eating late but I exercise in evening and have found I prefer to be hungry doing that so I can eat my meal afterwards and I find its extra satisfying. I often drink a glass of milk before exercise to help.

Friday is my official weigh in
Last fridays weight: 10
Today's weight: 9.12
This week's loss: 2lb
Grin

Going out for tapas tonight and won't eat till late so trying to hold of breakfast as long as possible, then have brunch, something good at 4ish and then tapas at 9.

How is everyone doing?

twofloorsup · 13/01/2017 10:45

Morning Bestbees.
I think I overdid my bowl of cereal this morning as I came over all tired and had to have a nap. Not keen on feeling so hungry at times but it's still better than being constantly stuffed.

Cakingbad · 13/01/2017 10:58

Well done Bestbees.
It does feel odd being hungry twofloorsup, but I guess it was perfectly normal for previous generations. My parents, who were young in the war years, never eat between meals. In particular they never help themselves to food like cheese - which I suppose is there to be rationed out fairly as part of a meal. I on the other hand am always looking in the fridge (at home) and the biscuit tin (at work) to see what looks good. I am having to remind myself every morning not to snack at all during the day. The habit is not there naturally yet. Yesterday was a clean run though and I am determined that today will be too.

mimiasovitch · 13/01/2017 11:03

This week has gone so quick! The scales are showing no movement, but people are asking if I've lost weight, so something must be happening. This weekend I am going to eat in an ordered fashion, as my previous weekends have done me no favours. Good luck everyone

Cakingbad · 13/01/2017 11:12

I am going to "eat in an ordered fashion" too! I'm just going to have one significant treat on both S days rather then going mental all weekend.

mimiasovitch · 13/01/2017 11:21

Yay for not eating all the crap just because!! (If I say it enough I'll believe it Grin)

Bestbees · 13/01/2017 12:47

Learning to cultivate hunger as a good practice seems a theme. Starving this morning but held out until a smoked salmon and scrambled eggs wrap with coffee at 10am. Kids at nursery, house clean. Total bliss and even better for being hungry!

Cakingbad · 13/01/2017 16:06

Cool breakfast. I love eggy breakfasts.

bigkidsdidit · 13/01/2017 16:39

I've not managed my first day. Really cross with myself. I had lovely breakfast and lunch packed for work then my friend brought in massive home made cupcakes to celebrate and I had one. Bugger.

bigkidsdidit · 13/01/2017 16:39

I didn't. Even enjoy it Sad

twofloorsup · 13/01/2017 17:51

I fell asleep after my lunch as well today so I'm wondering if 3 meals a day is a good fit for me or not.
I think the meals I had today were a bit carb heavy but I hate feeling weak and hungry .
I'm also going for the one treat on an S day so as not to undo the entire week !

AristonAndOn · 13/01/2017 19:08

Hi big kids, don't be too cross with yourself, it's so hard, especially in the beginning. I'm only 10 days in and my appetite hasnt quite adjusted, but it's getting better. Also had an emergency banana today. Two, I wonder if over time your meals will become less carby as your body adjusts. My meals are also very carby and large as I need the bulk to feel full at the moment. It hasn't made me sleepy yet though. It's a balancing act to get right isn't it!

twofloorsup · 13/01/2017 20:22

It is very difficult and it's now gone 8pm and I haven't had or cooked any dinner yet as I've been busy. So will probably end up with another dose of carbs. I'm usually pretty good at getting a balance but at the moment my meals are huge - a bit last supper style !

AristonAndOn · 13/01/2017 21:06

Two I struggle to get to 6!

twofloorsup · 13/01/2017 22:00

So do I Grin
I'm just eating now. Need to get more organised.

PosiePootlePerkins · 13/01/2017 22:06

Bigkids don't be too hard on yourself, this diet is a learning curve, some days will be perfect and some will be not so perfect. As Reinhard says, mark it and move on. You'll have learnt from not enjoying the muffin and will probably find yourself thinking twice next time. Don't give up!
Hope everyone has a good S weekend! Smile

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/01/2017 22:09

I think I'm going to swap to have my S days as Friday and Saturday permanently. I don't often have social events on a Sunday and I do on Fridays! (So I scoffed some biscuits earlier!)

AristonAndOn · 13/01/2017 22:24

Toomuchextramaturecheese I just love your user and it's true enough of me yum 👍🏼

PosiePootlePerkins · 13/01/2017 22:41

Cheddar sounds like a good plan if it fits in well with your social life. I on the other hand am usually a billy no mates on a Friday evening (unless you count DS who stays up too late annoying me!) and enjoy my treats at the weekend. Croissants are waiting for me tomorrow.....mmmmm

Cakingbad · 14/01/2017 08:54

Enjoy your S days everyone. My S treat today is going to be a bag of crisps in the pub. Probably haven't been so excited about a food treat since I was about 6.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 14/01/2017 09:02

I usually have a trampoline class on a Sunday, so I can't snack much anyway on those days. Half a pound down this morning!

twofloorsup · 14/01/2017 09:17

Caking are you not allowed crisps through the week ?
I've been eating them with my lunch all week Confused
