The No S Diet [title edited by MNHQ]

I've decided that I finally need to commit to losing my baby weight. I have 2 stone (ideally more to lose). But will just take it half a stone at a time. I am not really into crazy diets. So I've gone for the 's' diet which is basically eat sensibly diet! No snacks, seconds or 'sweets' (includes cakes etc ) except on days beginning with s (weekends and special days). So three meals a day basically. Does anyone want to join me or be my supporter? I lost 1.5 lb the first week, but then gained 0.3. Next weigh in is Monday and today I was 2.5lb lighter so I'm hoping I will have lost something. I am piling up a bit on the meals but figure that I need that to stick to it at the moment. Hopefully as I adjust I can make the meals smaller/healthier too. Looking forward to the weekend for a pudding and some wine!

Best, the shift in attitude has been the best thing so far. I have 7 more stone to lose...so it's not an overnight process. I have also already lost 8 stone before and regained it all!!! The effort it took to lose and then the powerless I've felt putting it back on. 😞 No more, I've got to do this properly this time!!

twofloorsup · 11/01/2017 22:14

For me personally I'm not even weighing myself.
I've dieted my whole life and have never been able to not snack and pick all day long so that's my focus initially.
I'm amazed by how long I can wait for dinner if I have something nice to look forward to.
I'm ten days in now and holding strong Smile

AristonAndOn · 11/01/2017 22:42

Two, I think it would be really helpful for me not to weigh myself. It's a habit I could do without and I will try and think about tackling that issue, though sticking with the plan is my first priority. I'm 8 days strong. Good luck we can do this!

beela · 12/01/2017 06:55

I've got a full day in the office today so this will be my big challenge of the week! But I'm starting off with scrambled eggs and wholemeal toast instead of my usual bowl of cereal.

AristonAndOn · 12/01/2017 07:39

Good luck Beela. I did the same last week, definitely filled me for longer than just cereal.

twofloorsup · 12/01/2017 09:01

Ariston I do know what I weigh but it's not the aim of the game Smile
Two days off work now unexpectedly so that's a while different ball game in terms of not picking all day. May have to spring clean or something to keep me busy !

GlumsTheWord · 12/01/2017 09:17

Ariston and TwoFloors - I think you have chosen the right approach with no s. When I look at the other diets around, they just don't seem sustainable long term. This is much more about a healthy mind set, which is great if you binge eat. I do not have a lot of weight to lose, ideally I would like it to be around a stone. I have a very poor attitude to diet and eating habits. I will graze all day and then find that I have no appetite for my meals - it's almost like I have forgotten what it feels like to be hungry.

I have old fashioned scales, so it's quite hard to see how much exactly I have lost - it looks like around 2-3lbs. I have a feeling most of that will go back on over the weekend! I was thinking it might make more sense to weigh myself monthly, maybe it would give a clearer picture. Not sure I can keep myself of the scales - I can get a bit obsessive about weighing.

twofloorsup · 12/01/2017 09:21

Glums I too had forgotten what being hungry felt like. It is actually quite joyful - as long as it doesn't go on too long that is !

Nan0second · 12/01/2017 09:28

Day 11 here and it's going well. 10kg to lose. (1.5stone)
Only lost 300g in first week but I am coping with ignoring treats at work and at home! I have had an emergency banana a couple of times in the early evening. Decaf coffee seems to be helping in the evenings :)

twofloorsup · 12/01/2017 09:29

I could have done with an emergency banana a few times Smile

TheChampagneGalop · 12/01/2017 10:13

I also mainly want to focus on getting my eating habits under control and will only weigh myself occasionally.

AristonAndOn It's definitely not just you - I also have a problem with bingeing and emotional eating. Yesterday it got the best of me.

Here is to another succesful N day!

Cakingbad · 12/01/2017 10:49

Well it's the second week of No S for me. I stuck to the plan religiously the first week, but this week I've had good days and not so good days. I have a habit of snacking on the ingredients while I make supper which I have never even noticed before. So more work is needed for me to get the no snacking habit good and solid. I am determined not to snack at all today. Good luck everyone.

Cakingbad · 12/01/2017 10:50

When you don't snack at all you really enjoy your meals, don't you?

twofloorsup · 12/01/2017 14:12

Certainly do !
I'm so much better at feeding myself a good nutritious meal if I have to wait for it.

mimiasovitch · 12/01/2017 14:30

It's not just that meals are more enjoyable. I find that I need and want nutritious meals, rather than just mac and cheese for example. I'm actively looking for the broccoli. Mind you, today I'm freezing and very tired, and mac and cheese sounds so good now. My fault for typing it!

AristonAndOn · 12/01/2017 14:44

Yes mini I am doing the same. I could fill my plate completely with carbs and fat, but am actively making space for healthy stuff too. Amazing! Last wk I didn't eat too my healthy stuff as I was too full all the time from the other.

panicovernow · 12/01/2017 16:14

Good to read how everyone's getting on. Champagne I also emotionally eat and last night didn't stick to plan. Today I feel more determined as I didn't like how I felt last night after eating a load of chocolate. So far so good, really looking forward to dinner, just this evening to beat now.

PosiePootlePerkins · 12/01/2017 16:45

Hi all. Really good to hear so many positive thoughts. I agree with the healthy eating, and I do find it has a knock on effect at the weekends. So true that snacking is just mindless eating, and so good to prove to myself that I can actually exercise some control around food.

bigkidsdidit · 12/01/2017 16:54

Hi everyone!

I'm starting tomorrow. I don't binge but j am a terrible snacker. All day long - and I hate it. I'm anxious about stopping though, I don't know how I'll make it through to dinner!

TheChampagneGalop · 12/01/2017 17:02

Welcome bigkids, you can do it! If we can, you can!

TheChampagneGalop · 12/01/2017 17:06

I'm feeling encouraged because I was able to wear a pair of jeans today that previously were just a little too tight. My stomach is really happy about not being stuffed with food all day long.

bigkidsdidit · 12/01/2017 17:44

Thank you Smile

Giving the children their tea will be the tough point for me.

beela · 12/01/2017 18:35

So I made it through a full day in the office on scrambled eggs for breakfast and a falafel wrap with loads of salad for lunch and I felt fine. Such a change from the usual biscuit and sweet munching!
However - home now and I've got to get through kids bedtime before I can have my tea! I'm really hungry!!

PosiePootlePerkins · 12/01/2017 18:41

bigkids are you able to eat when the kids do? I do this a lot as I get very cranky and hungry around 5pm ish. I actually think my body benefits from stopping eating for the day around that time, I think of it as a mini fast overnight. As long as I fill up with a good plate of food, my tummy is happy for the evening!

bigkidsdidit · 12/01/2017 19:18

I could, but it wouldn't be my favourite food (I usually cook twice) and DH might get a bit miffed. We usually eat together at 8.30 ish
