I know there is a thread for active weight loss but a quick look shows its already started and seems to be followed by those who have 1 to 2 stone to lose. This positive support thread is for us heavier ones with the short term goal to lose 2 stone by Christmas.

Some will remember my weight loss journey. Several stones lost and several more to go. I thought it might be nice for us to boast about our losses or cry about our gains together. Support with no judgement.

800 cals is VERY low, I'm quite impressed with those people managing it but do be careful- I think it would make me feel ill.

Imnotaslimjim · 23/09/2016 20:56

Well done on losses so far this week.

Those of you working at 800 calories, is that long term or 5/2? It really is very low. Lottie is right, it can make you very ill or you'll find that you crash and binge. When I asked the Dr for help they suggested 1400 would be plenty low enough to see a regular loss. My HIIT trainer has just suggested upping it to 1800 as I'm struggling a little energy wise in class. 800 would see me falling over I think.

scratchypoopants · 24/09/2016 10:17

Hi Imnota, it is recommended not to continue with the 800 cals per day for more than 8 weeks. I did 8 weeks previously, then had another 8 weeks maintenance so about 2000 cals per day for me. I spoke to my GP before beginning this second 8 week stint. I know the traditional advice is to lose weight slowly and steadily but I have consistently failed to do that so am trying an alternative approach. My energy levels seem good, better than when I eat more tbh, but I don't do high intensity exercise, just walking and swimming, so I guess I might notice a difference in that case. Although 800 calories is very little, I think what I do eat is good food and I don't struggle too much with hunger - I'm very much ready for my meals when I have them! But not too bad for wanting to snack etc. Each to their own I guess!

Hello everyone,
I've been struggling with my weight for ages and can't seem to move it. I am going to SW and been ill so didn't do any plan. Have woken up feeling better and ready to go. May I join you all. Would love to get 2 stone off for Christmas.

Welcome stellar GrinGrin

MagdaMagyarMadam · 25/09/2016 09:34

I've got a starving head on today.

RavioliOnToast · 25/09/2016 10:38

I know I'm late to the party But can I join?

I just got weighed and I weigh 230lbs. I feel sick at myself. I'm going to pretend it's yesterday and weigh myself every Saturday. I've started slimfast shakes this week. Will have. 2 per day to reduce my appetite and then will start doing slimming world meals, as when I've done slimfast before and lost weight, as soon as I've started eating normally again the weight all piles back on at lightening speed and extra.

Meal plan this week will be shake for breakfast and lunch, then something with the family for tea, so tonight will pasta and meatballs with garlic bread. I'd usually have a huge portion of this in a big pasta bowl and half a garlic bread. Tonight I'll eat out of a toddler bowl with one slice of garlic bread.

Once I feel like I can eat less and feel more full, I'll start with slimming world meals for breakfast, lunch and tea. I'm frightened for my health now and feel like it's now or never as I'm not good at dieting so I just need to pull my fucking finger out and sort it out. I don't want to die from being fat and horrible so I need to really really do something now. I'd like to be down to 200lbs by my birthday at the end of January at the latest. My goal weight is 170lbs. If I go any lower than this I look ill. I am usually a comfortable size 12 at this weight and I'd be really happy with that.

Imnotaslimjim · 25/09/2016 16:30

Welcome Ravioli and good luck with your journey. You sound like you got a bit of a fright when you stepped on the scales. I'm sure we've all been there! Woeking on reducing your appetite is a great way to start so well done. I've used Superdrug's appetite suppressants in the past. They're designed to swell in the stomach to fill it slightly so there isn't as much room for food - I've found they really helped with my portion control and now I don't eat much more than DS at mealtimes.

I've had an appalling day foodwise. I've had 2 chocolate bars and 2 fondant fancies. I'm fighting to not cave and just stuff my face. This is where I usually start piling the weight back on so I'm staying out of the kitchen so I'm away from the food!

Sunshineonacloudyday · 25/09/2016 16:52

I need to lose weight for christmas and work out can I join in. I'm giving up wine, chocolate and buiscuits. I may join SW or WW I have to see who is in the local area.

Sunshineonacloudyday · 25/09/2016 16:54

Imnota I know how you feel I spendmost of my time in the kitchen. When I feel low I comfort eat I need to be strong.

Imnotaslimjim · 26/09/2016 08:16

Hi sunshine and welcome.

Yes, one of my biggest issues is comfort eating and not just when I'm upset or low. I eat when I'm angry or as reward for a job well done.

DH took me out to a carvery for dinner. So I had 4 meats, tonnes of veg and a Yorkshire pudding then a massive slice of cake Blush.

I've not weighed this morning as I've been dealing with the DC and I'm not dressed (I weigh naked) so I'll hop on the scales in the morning. I'm hoping for 2 off but we'll see.

I'm right back on plan this morning, already had 2 pints of water and a banana for breakfast.

Imnotaslimjim · 26/09/2016 08:22

*now dressed

Stellar67 · 26/09/2016 09:33

Oh yes I am on the comfort eating wagon. And eating as a reward. I'll look at the scales and think oh I've lost 2lb, I can have cake/wine/crisps.

Need to change the mindset.

Walkingdisaster91 · 26/09/2016 10:42

I have only lost yet again 1lb Sad but I ordered the insanity workout and that's arrived so feeling hopeful 😊 tbh I really suck at deciding what to eat that is healthy and this insanity workout has a nutrition guide in it! I watched so many youtube videos and decided what I have I got 2 lose....other than weight of course 😁 and i've managed 2 convince take away loving hubby 2 join me! Well done with all the losses!

steppemum · 26/09/2016 11:16

1lb only this week. I have been doing it for one week, and it has been a struggle and only a pound lost is very depressing.
BUT
i have just started my period, and I always put on weight before that, and I am really bloated and windy. I think it is eating oats that is doing that, so a rethink on that and hope this week is better.

Can't exercise at the moment as I have a dodgy knee, which isn't helping.

Imnotaslimjim · 26/09/2016 11:43

Love hearing about the losses, keep going!!

steppemum a 1lb off is a 1lb off, don't be discouraged!! A loss is a loss, no matter how small! 1lb a week is 3.5st in a year.

However, if you're struggling, maybe share a food diary with us and we could have a look, see if there is something you haven't noticed.

steppemum · 26/09/2016 11:54

Thanks slimjim.
The struggle is just the constan having to resist the snack. I work form home and when I get bored I make a cup of tea and reach for the biscuit tin. It is the self control to NOT reach for the tin that is te struggle.

Fraggleyourock · 26/09/2016 12:37

Hi everyone! I'm feeling very inspired after reading this thread!! May I join? I don't know how much I weigh exactly, but I need to drop around 2 dress sizes so around 2 st (more would be nice)! I had a missed under active thyroid when I was pregnant with my little boy, I gained so much weight so quickly! Went from a 6/8 to a 12/14, then fell pregnant (by accident) 3 months later so didn't lose any of it!! My dd is 9months now so I really need to start losing! Seeing all these losses has made me feel like I can do it too!
Well done to all of you!!

Fraggleyourock · 26/09/2016 12:38

Oh, I should add that I'm only 5'1" so I don't carry wing my size well at all, I just look short and dumpy Blush

LottieDoubtie · 26/09/2016 13:33

Weigh in tonight... I was doing well until Friday and then I lost track/motivation a bit so no idea what will happen tonight Confused

LottieDoubtie · 26/09/2016 21:43

2 1/2 lbs off. Only bloody half a lb away from a stone grrr

Fraggleyourock · 26/09/2016 21:46

So close lottie!! Well done!

sneezeandclench · 27/09/2016 07:44

I jumped on my scales yesterday and have managed to lose 8lb this week after starting a low carb diet. I know most of that is water but it is still very encouraging. Well done to everyone who has posted a loss this week.

Sleeplessinmybedroom · 27/09/2016 07:57

Well done to all the losers. I lost 2lb at group Thursday so am now 1lb away from my 4.5st award and I think 5.5lbs into losing 2st until the end of the year.
