I know there is a thread for active weight loss but a quick look shows its already started and seems to be followed by those who have 1 to 2 stone to lose. This positive support thread is for us heavier ones with the short term goal to lose 2 stone by Christmas.

Some will remember my weight loss journey. Several stones lost and several more to go. I thought it might be nice for us to boast about our losses or cry about our gains together. Support with no judgement.

Thank you Imnotaslimjm Smile

Well done for getting straight on with it (and I agree 400 kcals isn't too bad at all!).

LottieDoubtie · 18/09/2016 22:02

Blush weigh in tomorrow. I wonder at what point it gets less bloody humiliating?

The old me swore I'd never join SW or similar....

Thehappygardener · 18/09/2016 22:23

Hi, would love to join.

Have put on five stone in ten yearsConfused
Just lost half a stone, so some more to go!

Have started again with the Michael Mosley blood sugar diet and also plan to go to SW as I think I need the group competitive I spirit to keep going Wink

Imnotaslimjim · 18/09/2016 22:26

Thanks greenHen

Weigh in for me tomorrow as well, but I'm on my own at home so the humiliation isn't there. Is it just your own sense of shame or do you feel you're getting that from the group? If the latter, that isn't right. My SW's leaders motto when I last went was "there is no shame in a gain" but I think you shouldn't feel humiliated needing to go either - if there was no need to go, the groups wouldn't exist. Good luck at weigh in, please let us know how you get on Flowers

Hi, would love to join. It's been very helpful reading what other people have said, thank you for posting.

Oh it's definitely my own feelings not the groups - the group is almost unbearably cheerful! Wink

Imnotaslimjim · 19/09/2016 07:36

Weigh in today!! 7.5lb in my first week. Over the moon!

Welcome happygardener and well done on your half stone loss.

Good luck to everyone weighing in today.

Howlongtillbedtime · 19/09/2016 07:54

Well done slimjim ! I have lost 6 pounds which I am pleased about . Now I just have to keep it up .

2 pound a week between now and christmas is 2 stone off so that is definitely my goal now .

Good luck everyone .

Imnotaslimjim · 19/09/2016 08:23

Well done howlong and that's a great goal to aim for. I'm actually working on 3lb a week but I have at least 10 stone to lose so it will come off quicker at the start. After Christmas I'm sure it will slow down.

MagdaMagyarMadam · 19/09/2016 09:44

Well Done slimjim - brilliant 1st week. My first weigh-in is tomorrow at SW. I can't say I've been hungry. It's just the having to think before eating that gets me. Obvs this is the root of my weight problem. Grin

babyand · 19/09/2016 09:53

Well done everyone on the brilliant losses!! Have my first weigh in Wednesday I can't wait hope it will spur me on!!

For anyone doing SW I just looked up syns in Anna a pancakes and shocked to see a banana is 2.5 syns because it's mashed? That's insane! Surely it's the same thing as when we chew it?

Laniakea · 19/09/2016 10:20

sorry about not being around much, been feeling pretty crap about my weight & trying to ignore it! Anyway I haven't been brilliant but I've lost two pounds ... so 2 down 17 to go.

Must try harder this week would love to be below 180 next week.

steppemum · 19/09/2016 11:24

right, today is day 1.
105.9 kgs eek!

My parents have been doing a wheat free diet for a few months. I don't agree with all my mums wacky reasoning, but my dad has lost loads of weight and has foudn it really easy. I am very like him, and so I have decided to try it for 1 month and see if it works for me.
It is actually very similar to SW or low carbing in the end.

Jantutor · 19/09/2016 11:56

Congratulations on all the losses. As for those who have just started well done ... You're on the wayGrin

Encouraged by all of you, I intend starting tomorrow. Just need to get into the zone...Halo

LottieDoubtie · 19/09/2016 22:09

I am a reluctant SW'er and I must be honest I'm not following all the rules- you are right re the banana babyand. In fact I did lean over to my friend in group tonight and utter the phrase 'I'm not on board with demonising the banana'. God knows what SW HQ have against them.

Still 4lb off this week so I'm happy with that Smile

GreenHen · 20/09/2016 08:11

Some fantastic first week losses! Well done!

I still haven't found myself on a clear plan (declared a start on Sunday, after WI on Saturday), I've cut down a lot though and I am making better choices...my main issue is deciding what to do - SW, MFP, Paleo...UGH!

Jantutor · 20/09/2016 08:51

I agree there's a world of possibilities out there, most of which are designed to part us with our cash. The so-called experts don't agree on the best way to lose, but as a start, this week I'm going to eat less and try to move more (a 40 minute walk 2 mornings).

Sugar is the big No! No! not just 2 in a mug of coffee but the hidden sugars. And it's sugars that keep me addicted to certain foods so detox day 1 is underway.

Good luck!!

steppemum · 20/09/2016 10:54

well, one day in and I think I know why the no wheat worked for my dad (and hopefully me)
Every single thing that I am tempted to snack on is wheat. So I can't just slip a biscuit or a slice of toast. I do have some things to snack on occasionally, but they don't have the same pull.

Just been shopping and stocked up on safe things, so see how it goes.

MagdaMagyarMadam · 20/09/2016 21:13

Well, that's 3lb off for me - 1st week at SW.

Howlongtillbedtime · 21/09/2016 07:03

Well done magda ! How have you found it ?

LottieDoubtie · 21/09/2016 15:00

Well done magda good start.

babyand · 21/09/2016 22:30

Had my first sw weigh in tonight -5lbs. Really happy with that!! Would love -2lbs next week and get my 1/2 stone award!

MagdaMagyarMadam · 22/09/2016 19:47

I've found the plan okay - like all diets there are restrictions on some things and I'm quite spontaneous and hate planning meals. Its been fine and i've not been hungry. I got some of the SW ready meals from Iceland to have in the freezer when I was pushed for time or just too tired to cook.

GirlsonFilm · 23/09/2016 08:41

Congratulations to all who have lost this week - its such a wonderful feeling.

I started the BSD on Tuesday and have lost 2lb - so 5lb in two weeks, and as I fell off the diet wagon last weekend I'm sure that will improve this week. Actually although its 800 calories its not too bad (I know its only day four)

Off to a health spa this weekend so hopefully this will keep up my momentum/motivation.

scratchypoopants · 23/09/2016 09:18

Congratulations to all those posting losses. I am 4 lbs down this week, which is not bad considering the week started with pizza at DS's birthday party on Saturday Blush - not exactly the low carb ideal! Anyway, done well the rest of the week, mostly just over the 800 cals, and happy to still be losing Smile!
