I know there is a thread for active weight loss but a quick look shows its already started and seems to be followed by those who have 1 to 2 stone to lose. This positive support thread is for us heavier ones with the short term goal to lose 2 stone by Christmas.

Some will remember my weight loss journey. Several stones lost and several more to go. I thought it might be nice for us to boast about our losses or cry about our gains together. Support with no judgement.

Day 0ne 861 calories, but too much fruit pushed my carbs over the target. I've taken a look at the BDS diet and I think it's the one for me (& I'd love to lose 2st in 8 weeks).

I had a chat with my dp at the weekend about my weight and he's keen to help.

I'm feeling motivated and like my will power's with me, but I always do for the first couple of daysConfused.

I'm about 17st at the moment so my target is 14st for Christmas.

I'm enjoy reading everyone's stories and motivations, I'm looking forward to us all losing weight and looking so much better for Christmas - that would be the best Christmas present of all!

LottieDoubtie · 12/09/2016 22:02

So really really didn't want to go to weigh in tonight... But I lost 7lb so I suppose that was ok Wink

Now to keep on it for the next week...

MsMermaid · 12/09/2016 22:10

I'm in. I've been listening to the easy loss virtual gastric band hypnosis app for 5 weeks now and have lost 12lbs. That's pretty good and I'm finding it easier than when I've tried plans in the past (I've tried them all)

I need to lose around 4 st to be in the healthy bmi range. If I could lose 2 of those by Christmas then I'd be thrilled, but I'm happy with losing at all so I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself as that's when I rebel and start binging.

scratchypoopants · 12/09/2016 22:35

Wow! 7 lbs is fab Lottie, let's hope we can all have just as much success. I'm sure it will help to chat to others in the same position. I've had a relatively good day, although 2 more coffees with milk than I normally allow myself. Quite stressed with a work deadline, so have been a bit irritable - or maybe its all the coffee Hmm...

MagdaMagyarMadam · 12/09/2016 22:55

Im off to join SW tomorrow and not looking forward to the weigh-in. I just need to get some weight-loss and that will give me some motivation.

Imnotaslimjim · 12/09/2016 23:08

I'm a little late to the party but can I join in please? I have far too many stone to lose but I'm aiming for 3st off for Christmas which is a 10% loss. I've worked it out to 3lb a week, which is perfectly doable.

I have big issues with sugar, chocolate in particular. I know if I don't have any at all then I don't want it so my first step is to stop eating chocolate. I'll working on reducing other high sugar foods over the next week or so.

Laniakea · 13/09/2016 09:47

should've said - I need to lose 19lbs to get back to where I was at the beginning of the year (164lbs) then another 40+lbs (argh) to get to goal which is somewhere around 120lbs.

I was 183lbs yesterday (I'm not putting it in stones because that is far too depressing!).

GirlsonFilm how much carbs are you aiming for? I'm trying to get no more than 35-45g. Carbs are a nightmare for me - I don't have a sweet tooth but bread puts me into a frenzy!

LottieDoubtie · 13/09/2016 20:47

Thanks scratchy. Today hasn't been too bad managed to avoid any food at an after work function so that's something. Just home and trying to work out something healthy to have for dinner. Supermarket trip needed tomorrow.

Imnotaslimjim · 14/09/2016 07:59

I did my first ever HIIT class last night. Thought I was going to die it was so hard (and the trainer had reduced it for me as I'm not up to the full class!) I'm aching a little this morning but the scales say I've lost 3lb since Sunday so I'm not going to complain!

Howlongtillbedtime · 14/09/2016 08:04

Can I jump in please ? I have 3 stone to lose ( actually nearer 4 but 3 will make me happy and comfy )

I joined ww online on Monday and so far so good . Sadly I can't make the meetings so I need to find as much support as I can in other ways .

My biggest problem is starting off all keen and motivated , losing the first half stone easily ( ish ) and then falling off the wagon and not getting back on again .

All hints and tips gratefully receieved .

Cakedoesntjudge · 14/09/2016 08:21

I know I'm late but can I join in too please? I have 24lbs left to lose and I'm determined to do it by Christmas. I joined sw a while bloody years ago and quite quickly lost the first 3 stone I wanted to but ever since have yo-yo'd. Went on holiday recently and the pictures horrified me! Since getting back two weeks ago I am loosely following sw but I don't like the amount of carbs encouraged on it so I've adjusted it slightly so I'm more just trying to eat healthily. I've lost 6lbs so far - have weigh in tonight but I will update this on Friday :)

Really starting to struggle with the lack of chocolate, I am a complete chocolate fiend and I can't just have a little bit so have cut it out completely. I also find it hard to find the motivation to cook! I am a single parent who's son is incredibly fussy so I have to cook desperately for me. Hopefully being on here chatting to you lot will give me some ideas/keep me on the straight and narrow!

Hope everyone is having a good week!

alabasterangel · 14/09/2016 12:22

If really like to join. I think I need you all to shout at me - seriously. I'm useless.

I've tried 5:2 - I didn't loose much on it and I was a miserable miserable cow on diet days.

Everyone around me is on SW and have done so well. I think that's probably tu best bet for me but I think I'm just putting obstacles in my own way. My current internal arguments include: how do I stick to it when I do a lot of entertaining, away a lot in hotels with work, and cooking is my main pleasure and hobby in life. What if I just give up? The local leader is a good friend. Quite a few things in life don't please me hugely at the moment and adding failure, mentally, I don't think would be good.

I'm veggie and I love bread, cheese and wine. Literally love. I'd eat nothing else given half a chance. Ditching that stuff/swapping it for fat free cheese triangles just makes me stabby. Hence trying 5:2 which didn't work. I use MFP. I find it hard!

I genuinely find it very hard to loose. I went on an AI holiday and stuffed my face for 7 days. Fry ups, cake, ice cream, cocktails. I came home 2lb lighter. Yet starving myself on 5:2 I didn't loose. I'm trying to do a 5:2 day today but I'm faint already and going to give in and make lunch.

I'm 13.5 stone and 5ft 3. I need to loose 3 stone to be near a normal BMI.

In photos I look puffy, old and just plain fat.

Shout at me please!!!!!

alabasterangel · 14/09/2016 12:26

Terrible typos, sorry, on phone!

passportmess · 14/09/2016 12:30

If I lost three stone, I'd be the same weight as I was in my 20s. Aiming to do it by May next year so maybe 1 1/2 stone by Christmas.

Imnotaslimjim · 14/09/2016 12:38

alabasterangel I know exactly how you feel except I've left it far longer than you have and now have 10-11 stone to lose to reach a healthy BMI.

You need to make the decision to deal with. Only you can make the choice, when you're ready to.

You mention the SW leader is a friend - are you worried about failing in front of her? I can understand that.

On SW you don't have to "give up" anything, just moderate how much you have. Wine can be synned (I know a couple of ladies that didn't eat any syns through the week so they could spend it all on wine at the weekend) cheese is limited but there is a lot of choice, same with bread. You just need to learn what you need to fuel yourself and what you're eating to treat yourself. Sounds easy but if it was, we'd all be a size 10!

passportmess · 14/09/2016 12:38

There's an android app (free) called weigh my diet which tracks weight loss, bust, waist, hip measurements, clothes size etc. Great thing is you can flit between stones, pounds and kilos easily with a button beside the weigh values. Also has a projection of weight loss each week until goal met and a graph of loss. The app has a red weighing scales as its symbol. I'm 78.4kg/12.2 Stone so with .5kg/1 pound loss, I'll be 11 stone by Christmas. I'll deal with the other two stone in 2017 Grin

Sewblunt · 14/09/2016 12:39

I'm in too! I rejoined slimming world last week after stopping when I fell pregnant. I have several stone to lose and would be delighted to lose 2st by Christmas. We are going to florida at the end of Nov and I've set myself a target of 1.5st by then. I joined a SW group and I'm going back tomorrow to be weighed but then I think I'll do it from home and just join online. I cannot stand the tedium of group. Going around and asking everyone how they feel is not for me, especially when all I'm thinking about is getting home to get the baby to bed!

Thanks for the pointer for the apppassport I've downloaded it and it looks great.

alabasterangel · 14/09/2016 14:09

Pedometer is on my list too. It might frighten me into realising how crap I am at moving my arse. If I walk the kids too and from school each day that's 3 miles. But I work three long days a week and it's just not possible on those days. So it's very easy not to bother. And I hate exercise...what I like is sitting about eating carbs and cheese. Therein lies the problem! My default setting is 'lazy'. Always has been!

slimjim yep, the leader is a slender school mum who claims to have lost weight on SW. She's 'recruited' every other mum Barr me, and they've all lost weight. She is a good friend, I see her socially, and whilst she doesn't pressure me I can sense her eyeing me up like prey. I'd hate to fail with her, especially when everyone else in the 'clique' has successfully lost so much.

I would seriously need to save syns to have that weekend wine, but not sure that's very practical ?! I do dry Jan and dry oct every year, and I never loose a lb as a result!!

I'm just defeatist, I know.

Howlongtillbedtime · 14/09/2016 16:19

Those of you that haver been doing this a while . Do you use up all your weekly points ? And what do you do about your fit points ?

TIA

passportmess · 14/09/2016 16:23

Imnot you're very welcome. I lost a stone before with a similar app. Seeing progress seem so spur me on. However I also came to realise that weight loss happens in bursts as you plateau as well as lose over time. So my graph wasn't a straight line downwards but rather ledges then downwards, then another ledge etc. Helped me not to feel bad if I didn't lose weight some weeks.

Laniakea · 14/09/2016 16:37

"I'm veggie and I love bread, cheese and wine. Literally love. I'd eat nothing else given half a chance. Ditching that stuff/swapping it for fat free cheese triangles just makes me stabby."

Me too!

I've gone completely cold turkey on the wine & bread (I'm fantasising about both). I had some brie for breakfast though!

scratchypoopants · 14/09/2016 17:13

alabasterangel I also know exactly how you feel and like Imnotaslimjim also need to lose a lot (originally about 11 stones, with about 8 left to go) - perhaps knowing that folks who have ended up with so much to lose empathise with the way your feeling will help to motivate you to do something about it know before it ends up a much bigger challenge?

I also found that I need to be in the right frame of mind to be successful. A few months before starting the blood sugar diet I told my GP I was worried about dieting, because, while I've done well in the past (5 stones with WW once!), I've always put it back on again, and then some. The logic in my head was that it was better to cope with being as fat as I was, rather than risk getting even fatter.

Anyway, one thing I've found has helped with that is practising mindfulness using the android app 'Headspace', Michael Mosely (of 5:2 and BSD fame) recommends it in the BSD book. They do a 10 day free trial, which I did first and found it worked for me so now I'm paying for it. Perhaps something like that would be worth a try to get you in the right frame of mind? It doesn't specifically deal with weight loss, and I'm not sure how it helps, but have found that it does.

scratchypoopants · 14/09/2016 17:14

something about it now not know... Argh!
