Anybody else doing Exante or some other VLCD and wants to buddy up?

I started Exante on Monday so on day 4 now. I'm not in ketosis yet though, which I find odd because normally it kicks in roundabout day 3 (I've done plenty of ketogenic diets before).
I don't have anyone in real life who wouldn't totally condemn me for doing a VLCD so looking for someone on here Grin

Hi! It's a little dead on here recently but you're more than welcome to come say hi and liven the place up!

I do (did for 13 weeks and am now on a VLCD of my own making supplemented with vitamins) lighter life so can't really advise on exante food packs. I know most of mine are rather odd but your taste buds adjust!

The first 3 or 4 days will be tough - you will be using up your carb stores in order to get into ketosis so expect hunger, headaches and grumpiness. Drink LOTS of water. I promise it is worth battling through though as when you're in ketosis those symptoms disappear. I rarely feel hungry now and actually have more energy.

Good luck!

Today is the start of my month on Exante. Just had an apple and cinammon porridge, and whilst it wasn't completely revolting, it was odd. I followed the instructions but it was like soup with oaty lumps in. Going to weigh myself in a minute - forgot when I got up - and probably be disgusted with how much I weigh. That alone should spur me on!

toastyarmadillo · 02/01/2017 09:28

I'm on day one as well! I've done vlcd before and am using exante this time around, mainly because I have a ton left over anyway.
Currently my heaviest ever, so depressing, had a few family issues and medical problems which combined with being an emotional eater have tipped me into morbidly obese.
I'm 5ft 3 and currently weight 18 stone 1 pound. I cried when I weighed in this morning.

Started today with a lemon yogurt bar as I desperately wanted to be able to chew something. It's hard with all the Christmas treats crammed around the house, but am reminding myself those are the children's and hands off! Next step to drink my weight in water so I don't feel hungry, roll on ketosis.

Top tip for porridge is to blend it with a stick blender to make it smoother, one of my favourites.

NapoleonsNose · 02/01/2017 15:17

I had the lentil dhal for lunch and by God it was foul! Not sure how I'm going to force myself to eat more of them. I had a couple of sticks of celery with it to take the chemically taste away. Not feeling too hungry, I drink a lot of water normally anyway, so a few extra glasses is fine.

toastyarmadillo · 03/01/2017 06:21

I survived day one, Lemon and yogurt bar, original oats at lunchtime and chocolate crispy bar for dinner. A ton of water, black tea and coffee. I weakened at bedtime and ate a babybel. The plan for day 2 is to stay 100% and definately no babybels. It's tough today as I woke up hungry, roll on ketosis.

toastyarmadillo · 03/01/2017 18:07

So onto day 2.... started off badly with DS waking at 4am after wetting the bed. Couldn't get back to sleep so drank lots of black tea. Gave in at 6pm and had my first pack of the day... apple and cinnamon porridge. Then a lemon and yogurt bar for lunch. Planning a shake for dinner! Feeling quite cold, suspect way too early for ketosis so attributing that to the weather. Been keeping busy again today and drinking a lot of water to stave off hunger pangs. Got the girls room tidied up and sorted DD2 clothes out, loads of stuff she had outgrown. Keeping busy seems to be the key for me, it should get easier once they are back at school tomorrow and not constantly eating gingerbread house in front of me!

How's everyone else getting on?

Skinnymeiscoming · 03/01/2017 22:47

Hello, may I join? Starting exante VLCD tomorrow. Smile I want to lose 20kgs

toastyarmadillo · 04/01/2017 20:25

Day 3 100% no sneaky cheese consumed!
I had a tropical shake for breakfast, tomato soup for lunch (that stuff is so thick!) And honeycomb shake for tea. Definately feeling less hungry and my mouth feels a bit scummy, which is handy as I am drinking extra water to alleviate the awful taste. Got cold feet but am sure I was a lot colder when I did vlcd before and was in ketosis. How's everyone else going?

toastyarmadillo · 04/01/2017 20:27

Welcome @Skinnymeiscoming feel free to join us, we can all encourage and help each other.

toastyarmadillo · 05/01/2017 20:22

Day 4 and I have resorted to senna to resolve the constipation, nothing yet! I haven't opened my bowels since starting this diet! I will also start adding physillium husks to each meal/shake.
Finally feeling the effects of ketosis, I started today with a cracking headache and completely forgot to have breakfast, I just wasn't hungry.
I had a lemon and yogurt bar at 11, then a slim and save orange bar at 3 and a white choc and raspberry shake just now.
I've been overtaken by the need to clean out cupboards today, so I must have more energy!

Feeling super positive and not slipped at all today.

toastyarmadillo · 07/01/2017 03:29

Well the senna got things moving and my weigh in showed a amazing total loss of 10 lbs. I am so pleased and that's not even a full week yet.

So day 5 started off quite well, I seem to have a ton of energy and have been keeping busy to distract myself.
I had a hot vanilla shake blended with a heaped teaspoon of physillium husks to make a faux porridge for breakfast. Lunch was another slim and save bar, praline this time (why are slim and save bars so small) then evening meal was a tropical shake (not my favourite but am trying to use them all up).

Given its Friday evening and the rest of the family had pizza in front of a pre-recorded christmas episode of robot wars, I treated myself to a can of coke zero cherry! I don't know if it was being surrounded by pizza munching or the coke but I went to bed actually feeling a bit hungry. Not so hungry as to keep me awake, just enough to be noticeable if you know what I mean? I will try the coke again and if it has the same effect will drop them altogether.

toastyarmadillo · 07/01/2017 21:40

New
Well day 6, no major issues apart from an overwhelming urge to cook stuff I can't eat, the rest of the family don't seems to object though. Was desperate to chew something today so had a exante stollen bar, I had hoped it would be paste like my favourite hot cross bun ones, sadly it wasn't and a really struggle not to chuck it in the bin. Was so sure I would like them I bought 20 of the damn things, very disapointing! I had a hot vanilla shake with added physillium husks for lunch and a toffee caramel shake made into a hot porridge with physillium husks for dinner. Lots of water and black tea and coffee, given up on the cherry coke zero. Might try a normal coke zero tomorrow and see if it causes hunger or not! Looking forward to Mondays weigh in.... getting excited to work out my week one overall loss.

Lordofmyflies · 08/01/2017 11:52

hello, may I join too?
I've got 4 stone to lose. I started exante on wednesday and I'm doing a shake for breakfast, a bar for lunch and a low cal, low carb meal in evening, like chicken and veggies, plus lots of water.
Weighed myself today and after 4 days, I've lost 6 pounds so really pleased.

I want to try and do 3 Exante products a day to get into ketosis to try and reduce hunger but I'm struggling come evenings and find a low carb meal helps with that. Trying to keep meal under 400 cal too.

Chipsandonionrings · 08/01/2017 22:33

Hi all I want to start in a couple of days. Well done in everyone's losses so far, hoping I can have similar sucesses.

According to the nhs I have 5st 9lbs to lose Sad

I have done it in the past and this be my 50th attempt at starting again. I am properly sick of being a chubba and having no clothes that fit.

I usually try and get in ketosis first by eating tuna and mayo so will starts on 3 packs a day on weds. Kind of looking forwards to it I feel so fat and stuffed.

Good luck everyone

FizzBombBathTime · 08/01/2017 22:43

Hi! Can I join?

I'm now on day 6 of exante

Doing 3 shakes a day (blergh!!!)

Drinking sugar free squash as i can't stomach loads of plain water

I weighed 15 st 4 on day one

I weighed 14 st 7 yesterday

Really chuffed! Given me motivation to carry on.

I had ds2 2 weeks ago via c section so can't wait to get my old body back!

Good luck to everyone else Smile

toastyarmadillo · 09/01/2017 06:04

I survived week one with a total loss of 10 pounds, yay go me! I know week two is typically a low loss but things pick up after that usually. So will keep plowing on!
I find shakes work better for me than bars, that said it's 6am and I already had my first bar. I plan to stick to three products a day and nibble on an extra bar if needed. Apparently if your over 17 stone they recommend you have 4 products then revert to three once your under the 17 stone mark.
Good luck everyone, it's great to see other vlcd users, I was on the verge of not updating here anymore so you all popped up in the knick of time

toastyarmadillo · 09/01/2017 06:07

@FizzBombBathTime check the guidelines I vaguely recall that you shouldn't follow total solution if you had a baby within a certain time frame. I think it's okay if you do solution plus with the extra meal? Worth checking to be safe xx

FizzBombBathTime · 09/01/2017 06:25

Hi toasty! I read the info on the website and all it said was pregnant or breast feeding, but will re read just to make sure! Thanks Smile

FizzBombBathTime · 09/01/2017 06:26

And well done on your weight loss!!! Keep posting I like your daily updates!

amusedbush · 09/01/2017 09:23

amusedbush · 09/01/2017 09:43

Thanks, Fizz Grin

Today I'm wearing a dress that hasn't fitted me in about a year and I feel brilliant. 50lbs to go until I hit my initial goal!

BigBugBites · 09/01/2017 09:45

Does anyone want to swap some Exante food packets for strawberry milkshake?

FizzBombBathTime · 09/01/2017 10:01

amused that's brilliant, it feels so good to put on old clothes doesn't it

Sorry big I only have the cookie cream ones (blergh!!!)

nickdrakeslovechild · 09/01/2017 22:18
