So...this is a thread arising from a thread, rather than about a thread!

This is a weightloss chat and challenge thread for those above average height (5'7 and above) who are hoping to lose a few lbs, or possibly more.

I'm 32, mother of 1 DS (4months) 5ft7 and currently 13st2.5lbs.

I'm hoping to lose 42lbs!

I'm using mfp to track calories. I'm breastfeeding so aiming for 1800ish. I'm going for the slow and steady approach.

I've an underactive thyroid and birth trauma which limits the exercise I can do at the moment.

I'm in! Age 39, 3 children. Weigh 15 stone at 5'9. Want to lose 4 stone.

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 16/05/2016 15:23

I'm in too! I'm 5ft 8.5, currently 13st11. I want to get back to 11st7 which is where I was pre DD (she's 5, no excuses!) Just to make me feel even worse I just logged in to my fitness pal for the first time in ages so see that my last diary entry was June last year, I was 12st 12 and mortified yet I find it impossible to stick to anything.

This time I'm trying c25k, not eating when I'm not hungry (I know, sounds basic right?) and I'm going to reduce portion sizes and eat less white carbs and sugar. I'm not cutting anything out or counting.

We go on holiday in 3.5 weeks, I'd like to be 7lbs down to give me a wee boost before we go.

Good luck everyone!

Paffle · 16/05/2016 15:26

Yep. 43 yo, 2 kids age 5 & 3. 5'10, weigh 17st 8 down from 18'8 a month ago. Want to get to 14'5 or maybe less if it goes well. Doing 5:2 diet.

sailawaywithme · 16/05/2016 15:49

paffle a stone in a month - congratulations!

Junosmum · 16/05/2016 15:56

Well done paffle. A stone in a month is good going.

Gin- I did that, logged in to mfp and instantly gained more than a stone. Sob.

5'8 3/4" hello :) I have a huge amount of fat to lose. I'm in Smile

Bogburglar99 · 16/05/2016 16:54

5'9 - 10 depending whether I'm trying to game my BMI, 12 stone 3. 40 and suffering perimenopausal spread. Having stayed fairly happily within the healthy BMI range for years without too much effort, suddenly it ain't happening.

Would like to lose a stone and generally improve diet and fitness.
Have the added incentive of a 42 year old DH who is definitely overweight and needs support to lose it.

tabpepsi · 16/05/2016 17:07

hi, im tabpepsi and im a sugar addict. i use junk as a mood and energy booster.

im 35 and 5 ft 8 and am 9 stone 9. just cant shift that last half stone so i fit my clothes again.

is anyone going to get out in the evening sunshine (if its sunny with you) for a walk?

im hoping to walk for 45 mins tonight. hoping that will burn 100-200 cals and keep me away from the treats tin.

well done to everyone who has lost weight, it is hard!

saltwiththat · 16/05/2016 17:07

May I join you?
5'9" 11st 9lb (have lost 5lbs in last fortnight). I'd like to be 10st7lb and then I could fit in my clothes.
I've tried LCing in the past which worked when I stuck to it but I found eating out or other people's homes too restrictive.
I'm having 3 smaller meals a day with plenty of fruit & veg.
My fitbit is helping me keep my daily exercise levels up.

tabpepsi · 16/05/2016 17:08

what are all your diet weaknesses?

just nosey but wondering how we can help one another.

ThisShitIsBananas · 16/05/2016 17:10

Anyone above 5'3" is above average height in the UK Wink

ThisShitIsBananas · 16/05/2016 17:10

Any woman I mean!

sailawaywithme · 16/05/2016 17:11

juno I plan to do the Blood Sugar Diet, 800 calories a day. I don't actually feel hungry but I struggle with not eating the foods I like - pasta, bread, wine. I saw a particularly unflattering photo of myself on Saturday and it very much gave me a jolt. This is me. And I don't want it to be. If my habits don't change, my body won't either.

We moved house this weekend and I am now 5 minutes from a gym that has 5:30am and 6:30am HIIT classes. I have struggled with making time to exercise - I work FT and my children are 8, 5 and 2 so once they are in bed I am too beat to do anything. I prefer to workout in the morning, and I can be home and showered before they are even awake. I've already paid for 3 days a week for the next month.

saltwiththat · 16/05/2016 17:12

tab, I seem to get hungry when I'm tired, then the chocolate biscuits get raided. I know I should go for a walk but the sugary fix is much more convenient Blush.
Is anyone else like this?

sailawaywithme · 16/05/2016 17:12

My weakness is white wine and pizza.

Drinksforeveryone · 16/05/2016 17:18

I'm in.

5'9" and just teetering on 12 stone.

Recently quit WW as it was ruling my life so plan is to keep things more realistic and seriously increase my exercise.

Weak Point is snacking due to boredom. And wine.

BestIsWest · 16/05/2016 17:23

Doing the Harcombe diet. 5'10 and size 22. I have decided not to weigh myself as I get disheartened when I reach a plateau. Been doing it 5 weeks and down to 20. Finding. It incredibly easy. I'm mainly doing it for health reasons as I have a lot of problems with my legs.

Arkkorox · 16/05/2016 17:24

Hello! Im 6ft and been losing weight since Jan thanks to the mumsnet losers fb group. Have so far lost 69lbs and have 115 left to lose this year.

Bogburglar99 · 16/05/2016 17:25

Weak point here is that I have an elder child who has ASD and pretty complex behavioural challenges, so by the time I've spent the day wrestling with whatever DS/professionals/ school care to throw at me, I'm in no mood for healthy eating. Comfort food is undoubtedly where it's at

lougle · 16/05/2016 17:48

I'm on another thread but will join you here too. I'm 5'8" and 7 weeks ago I was 69.3kg. I'm now 63.8kg. Aiming for 58kg or whatever looks like my normal in the mirror! I've been using MFP, 1200 calories per day and switching refined carbs out for complex carbs.

CaptainCallisto · 16/05/2016 18:44

I'm 5'11 and have just hit 15st again, which I swore I'd never let myself do.

I've been up and down between 14 and 16 stone for years! I lose weight, plateau at 14st, manage to maintain it even if I can't shift any more, then I go through a bad patch with my anxiety/depression and stop going out much. Then I eat crap because I'm bored, frustrated and fucking useless.

The DC's are 2 & 4 and I really struggle to find space to fit exercise in... Sad

WindPowerRanger · 16/05/2016 18:50

5' 7.5" and 14 stone 12.

Just started a new regime of lower fat and low carbs, complex only. No sugar, diet drinks or alcohol. Hoping to get back to 10 -10.5 stone.

I spend more money on food so I can still enjoy it. Exotic vegetables are my thing at the moment.

harverina · 16/05/2016 19:41

Hello!

I am 5 ft 9 and around 15 stones 3lbs. I have lost around 20lbs since January...I say "around" because I have had 8 awful days including 4 days away with lots of eating and drinking and I haven't weighed in since!!

I am doing mfp and am on 1420cals.

My goal is to have a healthy bmi so around 12 stones in weight. I've never been less than 13.7 stones as an adult that I can remember.
