So...this is a thread arising from a thread, rather than about a thread!

This is a weightloss chat and challenge thread for those above average height (5'7 and above) who are hoping to lose a few lbs, or possibly more.

I'm 32, mother of 1 DS (4months) 5ft7 and currently 13st2.5lbs.

I'm hoping to lose 42lbs!

I'm using mfp to track calories. I'm breastfeeding so aiming for 1800ish. I'm going for the slow and steady approach.

I've an underactive thyroid and birth trauma which limits the exercise I can do at the moment.

I'm good all week then I lose it at weekends. The husband is a bad influence!

Morning all....2lb loss this week. I know that's ok but was hoping for more given the exercise! Suppose it's true the 80/20 of diet and exercise. Diet is good - still doing whole 30 and heading for day 50 now which I never thought I'd achieve. Think I need to watch portion size and drink more water

Still going here. I'm still doing phase 1 of the Harcombe diet and finding it easy.

I did have a tub of ice cream earlier this week but had it instead of lunch. That is my only cheat in 7 weeks so not bad.

I'm not weighing as I find I get demotivated when the scales don't budge but I can see I've lost weight and my clothes are much looser.

Also still going. Lost another 3lbs and I'm looking better for it, which is encouraging. I wore something I haven't worn for about 10 months last week, I was so happy!

Wow, sounds as though folk are doing well. I'm also on it. Had a few slightly more caloric days recently but still managed to lose 9lbs since starting, which I'm really pleased about. Can't tell yet though, either with mirror or clothes which is a bit crap!

Trying to make the most out of this next month as DS will be weaning soon so I won't have quite the same boost with the breastfeeding calorie deficit!

I've had this thread in my watch list for a while. Can I join please? 5'10" (or 178cm in metric money), and when I last weighed myself Friday I was 12st10lbs, gradually come down from 12st 13lbs. Trying to 5:2 it again (going well) and being sensible with the help of MFP. Killed my poor glutes in the gym today Grin

Welcome cat.

Well done on your weightloss so far.

I'm doing badly, looking at a gain tomorrow I think. Back on it now though.

I'm 30 5'8 and 11 stone 2. I've lost nearly a stone in the past few weeks just from walking the school run and cutting out some fizzy drinks. I found whilst i was working i went to food and put on a few stone. Left work so can walk the school run and not reaching for cola the same and it's helping. Not calorie counting I like my food and will stick with it. I'm a 12 but want to get back to at least my size 10 clothes.

Thanks Juno! Onwards and upwards! I've set a goal to reach 12st, or as close to, within 5 weeks. It's a challenge (I like food so normally find 1lb a week more reasonable than 2lbs) but still worth trying. Somehow with summer approaching (although I could have been fooled looking at the weather) I find dieting, or eating sensibly, much easier.

Well done on the weight loss, Perpetual, just shows how much of a difference small changes can make!

I found a little app called 7 (or seven?) which is basically a 7min HIIT workout. It's easy to do at home. Today I did a belly fat burn work out in the kitchen whilst waiting for my chips (home made) to be ready Grin

I'm still doing okay, but I seem to have lost...I don't know, focus? self-discipline? The little habits have crept back this week. It may be about other things (being disorganised so not shopping well, tiredness, some stress about other things) but I've irritated myself.

I have found that ignoring everything but the day in question, so I can start again every morning rather than obsess on previous lapses, is helpful. Plus I've also upped my exercise.

So I suppose I must just metaphorically chuck the last 5 days into the bin and begin anew.

Am I too late to join? I'm 5'8" and am now just over 12 stone and probably need to lose 10lbs to a stone, but would like to lose 1 and a half. I am going to start MFP tomorrow and am cutting out alcohol completely (or trying to). I'm doing an 'Urban Rebounding' class tonight (it involves trampolines Smile), though I have a nasty cold so might struggle.

Still going. Week 9 of the Harcombe diet. I'm not weighing but have definitely lost weight. Long way to go though. Down from a 22 to a 20.

I'd like to join in pls. I'm 58 and my weight has shot up since the break down of my then 37 year marriage almost 3 years ago. What's my downfall food wise? Well sadly it's not justvonecdownfall and as I've scrolled through the replies I've thought to myself oh that's me, that's me, that's me.

Strangely enough if you saw the meals I eat you'd think to yourself why is she overweight? I never have processed foods or junk food but I do comfort eat rubbish after I've had my very healthy meal. It's sugar mostly but that's another contradiction in terms because I'd never dream of having sugar in tea or coffee or eat jam etc. it's cakes and biscuits and sweets all the way.

And it's so stupid because I'm pre-diabetic and on medication. But the is good things happening to me and that is that in the last 6 months I haven't gained anyweight at all. I joined the gym and got myself a personal trainer and my weight has stayed exactly the same - but Ibe gained muscle and reduced fat. That's a really big thing for me - not to have gained weight.

So I'm 126 kilos and intend to cut down on carbs and sugar whilst counting calories.

The gym I go to uses the Technogym method and everything I do is loaded up to a cloud and converted into 'moves'. I'm supposed to do 3500 moves per week and life getting in the way means I haven't yet managed it but when I'm back from my holidays in two weeks I fully intend to. I have a son, he's 25 and severely autistic, hes been really unwell for about 8 months, but is now getting better and I'm going to be able to get to the gym more often.

Could I join in??

vital stats - i am 5' 10" and currently 127kg (I've lost 3.5kg in my first 2 weeks of trying to tackle my weight loss)

Could just do with some ... community spirit to help me get to my goal of 70kg by my birthday in march next year - I know that's going to be bloody hard! but I am desperate for this to be the last time i have to lose weight ever!

I am currently trying out low carb diet and will try to start exercising... I am not too sure whats putting me off, but i know the quicker i get moving the better it will be in regards for motivation, mood and losing more weight in the long run.

So I have set a mini goal for 10 weeks time.... I'd like to at least 110 - 115kg.... that's doable right??

3.5kg in two weeks is fab CrazyDuchess! Start as you mean to go on!

Tattie, that gym sounds interesting. Never heard of that concept but I suppose it's an incentive, like any tracking device.

I lost 2lbs since last Friday (which I'm happy with, given I started on Monday...).

Today is not the healthiest day, though not the worst either. The test will be the weekend though...

Its really good, and what I like most about it is that my PT is able to access my cloud via the App and comment on what Ive done on days I don't see her. I just flash my phone at a certain point on a machine and it records my workout. She can also set up a session for me so that Im never left thinking 'oh I wanted to go but I didnt know what to do'. Not that Im as bad as that - I know that just to go to the gym and move is better than nothing.

Given that this is a tall women weight loss thread, can you relate to this?

When I say I'm overweight and need to lose weight, people tend to say that I am not and don't, and seem shocked when I tell them I have a BMI of almost 26 (I know, I know, BMI is only a number - also now down to just over 25). I know I can handle a little excess weight better than shorter people, but I find it rather demotivating when people make comments like that. I might not show it as much as others, but I am too heavy, have an unhealthy fat to muscle ratio, and struggle to fit in size 14 clothes. It's not healthy, so stop minimising it just because I carry it well at 5'10"! Angry

Report
WindPowerRanger · 21/06/2016 12:56

I completely get that, acatcalledjohn.

It isn't just about what we look like, it is also about health and how it feels to inhabit an overweight body.

Glad it's not just me. It seems to be a sign of the times though: How you look is more important than how you feel. Bizarre word we live in. Yes, I do want to look better, but more importantly I want to feel better.

How is everyone getting on? I'm down to 12st 5.8lbs from 12st 13lbs since I joined the thread. It's going to be a challenge to hit my 12st target by the 18th...

Still going here. Haven't weighed at all but my clothes are muc much looser. Most of the weight has come off my top half which means my dresses are all much too big around the shoulders. However my bottom half hasn't changed much at all.
