So...this is a thread arising from a thread, rather than about a thread!

This is a weightloss chat and challenge thread for those above average height (5'7 and above) who are hoping to lose a few lbs, or possibly more.

I'm 32, mother of 1 DS (4months) 5ft7 and currently 13st2.5lbs.

I'm hoping to lose 42lbs!

I'm using mfp to track calories. I'm breastfeeding so aiming for 1800ish. I'm going for the slow and steady approach.

I've an underactive thyroid and birth trauma which limits the exercise I can do at the moment.

Captain I'm exactly the same as you minus the anxiety/depression but have been between 14 and 16 stones for years - I get to 14 and feel great, become complacent and gain it all back again

CaptainCallisto · 16/05/2016 20:14

It's such a pain isn't it harverina? Every time I get down there I feel so much better! I think 'this time I'll make it stick' and then...hello I've ballooned again Hmm

I'm hoping once DS2 starts nursery in September I can start running while I have a brief child-free interval. Being out doing that will probably do wonders for my mental health as well as my figure....

Honeymoonmummy · 16/05/2016 20:22

I'm 5ft 9.5 and currently 14 stone 3.25, down from 17 stone 0.5 since Jan thanks to my fitness pal and the MN losers group too. Two DC aged 7 and 5 and I'm nearly 42 41. I lost 2 stone approaching my 40th then managed to pile it all back on so have since lost that again plus another stone. I'm aiming for 13 stone at the moment although may go a bit lower.

One thing I regret not doing is taking "before" photos, I couldn't bring myself to do it but wish I'd done it now as motivation.

What does everyone feel about having a FB group?

Junosmum · 16/05/2016 20:46

Wow, lots of us here!

Facebook group is a great idea honey. I'll sort that now- it'll be a closed group so please pm me your Facebook name when you request to join or pm me on Facebook with your mn username!

Hello, I'm 5 foot 8, 31, got weighed at work yesterday and I'm smack on 17 stone 7lbs.
I've lost 21 lbs since 29th Feb - when I started my new job!
I work night shifts so my plan has been not to eat carbs on work days, I do 3-4 shifts a week and just eat a pretty average diet the rest of the week. It's not too difficult as I'm not generally hungry at work and when I get home I generally am too knackered to eat much so have a couple of boiled eggs for breakfast/tea. Plenty of fruit and veg etc every day as well. I'm probably doing an intermittent fasting diet due to not eating much on work days to be honest.
I do plenty of walking in my normal day to day life as I don't drive and have a fairly active job.

Chickpeachick0 · 16/05/2016 21:22

MyCatIsTryingToKillMe · 17/05/2016 09:15

I'm in, Bogburglar99 sounds like my twin in terms of age weight and height (I hear what you're saying about the BMI! Grin ) I was 12 st 5lbs a bout a week ago, I have been control my food intake since Friday - bad time to start! - but think a feww pounds may have dropped, I will weigh in on Friday and see.

My target is a holiday at the end of July where I would like to not look pregnant. Hmm

MyCatIsTryingToKillMe · 17/05/2016 09:18

My weakness is boredom, I work from home and fridge raid every time I make a cuppa. Also if I'm cold I eat more.

SoleBizzz · 17/05/2016 11:04

If we are greedy then boredom can trigger greed. I'm often bored but drink water now.

Anybody here a size 12. How much do you weigh please?

Bogburglar99 · 17/05/2016 12:42

I'm a size 12 that has an unpleasant feeling it is really verging on a 14 but is fighting against it. 12 stone 3 and 5.9.

Was a size 10 at 10 stone 7.

Junosmum · 17/05/2016 12:47

I'm a boredom eater too. That's one of the things I'm trying to combat.

I'm now under 13st both in the morning AND at night 😃 so very pleased. It's just been small changes and I even had a cake in Costa yesterday!

I'm 5'10 and gradually working my way down to 11st, which is right for my build & where I feel comfortable. I'm also in the MN Losers FB group. I don't post much, but I like the support on there, it's really helpful. I'm low carbing, which seems to suit me.

SoleBizzz · 17/05/2016 12:50

Thank you Bog

SoleBizzz · 17/05/2016 12:51

Is the 'measure your wrist' to find out your body frame guideline a load of rubbish? Mine says medium but my head is huge.

harverina · 17/05/2016 13:25

I am greedy - it's how I often describe myself but I do know that I'm not greedy on purpose and that I have major issues with how I relate to food.

Feel sad = eat
Feel happy = eat
Celebration of any description = eat
Feel pissed off = eat non stop.

Dd2 has just started play group and I had promised myself I would swim when she was there. So far I've done anything but - food shopping, errands! Any excuse. It's just so good having two hours child free to get things done though! But from next week I plan to walk or cycle for an hour of the time.

Does anyone else plan their food for the day? I find I am more successful when I do that.

Conniedescending · 17/05/2016 15:14

This looks like the thread for me. I'm 5ft 8 and currently weigh 14st 11Sad

4 years ago I weighed 16 stone 10 and got down to 12:12 and then stupidly lost focus and gradually put it all back on until I hit 15 stone end of last year. Then I started again and got to 14:7 before I had an unexpected pg resulting in mmc. Weight then went up to 15:12SadSad

So in April I got a grip and lost a few pounds, then I've started whole 30 and lost 11 more pounds! Day 30 today and going to continue for another 30 days to keep eating under control. Started exercising this week to speed things up as have a beach holiday in August and I want to be 12 stone anything.

First goal is 14 stone, then 12 anything, then 11:7 which puts my bmi into healthy weight region, then I have some idea of around 10:5 stone? Cannot recall what that might look like. Was not quite 10 stone before uni and was nearly 12 when I left.

Anyone else struggle with knowing what weight to aim for?

tabpepsi · 17/05/2016 15:53

im consistently a size 12. 9 stone 9 lbs.

i think measure your wrist thing is nonsense.

i've had to have size 14 formal wear dresses taken into a 10 (when i was 9 stone 4lbs) because of my huge ribcage and not to fit boobs.

i measure as a medium frame but have huge shoulders and back with spindly arms and legs, so, personally dont attach too much to that.

how has your day been so far ladies? ive eaten too much refined sugar and have 400 cals left for the day (1800 cal day today).

Junosmum · 17/05/2016 16:40

What's the measuring wrist thing sole? Every one tells me I'm small framed but I think I'm medium-large. Every one is shocked when they find out how much I weigh though. Which is good.

What's whole 30 Connie?

I eat at any given opportunity too haverina. I also plan my food out, mu h more successful that way.

I've had porridge for breakfast, mackerel salad for lunch and a brownie.

Planning mushroom risotto for dinner.

Should work out all in around 1900 Caldwell.

DorindaJ · 17/05/2016 16:42

Hi, may I join? I am 5'9" and weigh close to 14st. I am going to intermittent fast and aim for 1500 cals on the non fast days. I do lots of walking in my job, not unusual to do between 10k - 14k, some days 16k.

My first target is at lose 1st in 6 weeks.

If it's alright with you guys I'll stick with the MN thread, rather than join the fb group.

WindPowerRanger · 17/05/2016 16:55

Ditto. I don't mix MN and FB.

SoleBizzz · 17/05/2016 19:40

Facebook group is secret?

Dizzylizzie29 · 17/05/2016 20:27

5'10 looking to loose a stone!

Honeymoonmummy · 17/05/2016 20:42

I think you need to make the FB group private for long enough for us to join then change back to secret.

Junosmum · 17/05/2016 20:57

It's not secret, it's private. We have 3 members.
