So...this is a thread arising from a thread, rather than about a thread!

This is a weightloss chat and challenge thread for those above average height (5'7 and above) who are hoping to lose a few lbs, or possibly more.

I'm 32, mother of 1 DS (4months) 5ft7 and currently 13st2.5lbs.

I'm hoping to lose 42lbs!

I'm using mfp to track calories. I'm breastfeeding so aiming for 1800ish. I'm going for the slow and steady approach.

I've an underactive thyroid and birth trauma which limits the exercise I can do at the moment.

Hi can I join in? 5ft 8 1/2. Was just over 16 stone now a little under. Need to get to around 13stone 10 to feel human. Last night Zumba, tonight swimming and I ache!!

Junosmum · 19/05/2016 22:53

You haven't failed! Draw a line under it and move on.

FWIW, I've eaten a daim bar and a chocolate mousse today. But it's in my calorie allowance.

The rest of my day was porridge, mackerel salad and cheesy vegetable bake.

So, I've weighed myself this morning after a week of calorie controlled eating and I'm 12st that's five pounds down so I'm pleased but I secretly wanted to get on the scales and it start with an 11 10 Grin.

Conniedescending · 20/05/2016 07:50

Well done! 5lbs in a week is amazing!

I've just completed day 5 of exercise programme - just tomorrow to go but as Saturday I don't have to get up at 6am...yay!

Eating plan on track but still think I have too large evening meal. I always finish my plate no matter how large or small. Really need to focus on stopping when I'm no longer hungry. That and drinking enough water - am sure I don't do this either. Planning on weighing on Monday and hoping for 4lbs but will be happy with 3.

feelingmiffed · 20/05/2016 08:31

Hello!

I'm a fraction off 5ft 8 and weigh in between 16-17 stone Blush.

Id love to get down to about 12 stone

I'm planning on joining SW in a couple of weeks and have downloaded the MFP app and a steps app thing!

feelingmiffed · 20/05/2016 08:35

I've sent a request to join FB page!

LizardBreath · 20/05/2016 08:46

Hello! I am on the lose 10lb thread too (really helpful) but like the idea of this one for taller people.

I am just off 5'8, currently 10'7 I'd like to get to 9'13. My ideal weight is 9'9 but just below 10 is the first goal!

Sugar is also my weakness, not emotional eating but definitely boredom. Work from home and my mindset is 'I'll just do this email then I'll have a biscuit' = many biscuits eaten!

HelenF35 · 20/05/2016 08:55

I'm 5ft 8 and lost a lot of weight previous to my pregnancy. Went from 16st 12 to 10stone 3. I started slimming world 7 weeks ago at 13st 7.5, current weight is 12st 0.5lbs so I'm nearly at a healthy weight but would ideally like to be 10st 7. Slimming world is great, I find it really easy to follow.

HelenF35 · 20/05/2016 09:24

I can't find the Facebook page anywhere. Can anyone help please? Confused

Junosmum · 20/05/2016 09:25

Weighed myself this morning and I'm another 3/4lb off. Need to stop the daily weighing.

Found it.

Junosmum · 20/05/2016 09:26

5lb in a week is great Connie

5lbs was me Juno 😄 I try and avoid daily weighing as it can fluctuate so much day to day. Hold off for a weekly weigh if you can.

I also need to drink more water but it makes me wee about 20 times a day if I do!

jingscrivvens · 20/05/2016 10:22

Hello there, thought I'd join up with you.
I'm 6ft, 37 and 17.13st, down from 18.11. Been doing 5:2 for 11 weeks, so lost about a pound a week which is great considering what I've been sticking in my gob on the normal days! Was 15.7 before DS but want to get to 13st which makes me (just) normal BMI. Realise it's a marathon and not a sprint, so giving myself 12-18 months to do it. But I've got to do it!
Starting Zumba next week, should've started 2 weeks ago but then a sick child and a broken car put those plans on the buffers. On the plus side, the broken car has upped my walking - need to walk 4 miles on my commute now! Car should be fixed today though...

Conniedescending · 21/05/2016 18:44

Hi Jing - sounds like you've found something that works ok for you.

How's everyone getting on today? I've done my workout this morning and a brisk walk this afternoon. Eaten well so am going to let myself have s few homemade potato wedges with my tea as well as chicken and salad

Lolimax · 21/05/2016 19:17

Ive been to the big city with my lovely DH today. Tried so hard to be good. I did have 2 bottles of fruit cider and shared a bottle of wine with him but had a sanctimonious salmon salad in an Italian restaurant (and avoided all carbs go me!). Also got a lovely dress for a wedding in July (that's a whole other story!!). So a happy day all round Smile

Junosmum · 22/05/2016 17:56

Been dreadful this weekend. Was at a wedding on Friday and been at the mercy of friends the rest of the time. Getting back on the wagon now though.

5lb off in first week, which is fantastic and far beyond my expectations. Broke every rule going today (lunch party) so I really need to be prepared and scrupulous this week. But 5lb!

Gungdjur · 22/05/2016 19:17

Can I join please? I'm 5'9 and have lost 6kg in the past month taking me down to about 69kg which isn't overweight but after 3 pregnancies close together my core is destroyed so I look very big.
Think my main focus now will be exercise but need to not gain back weight and ideally lose another few kg.

With 3 kids under 5, one with special needs, my biggest weaknesses are caffeine and sugar!

Gonna try and join the FB group now

Conniedescending · 23/05/2016 07:05

Gutted.....massively upped the exercise this week and didn't increase the food at all. 1lb loss Sad

Was hoping for 3-

Still, have exercised again this morning and trying not to get too demotivated.

jingscrivvens · 23/05/2016 13:19

Connie 1lb is great! A loss is a loss no matter how much it is. Really try not to be hard on yourself, there could be other reasons your loss isn't as much as you hoped for - water retention, pre-menstrual, needing a poo even!

JamieVardysParty · 23/05/2016 13:47

Hoping to join. 5ft 9, currently 75kg and looking to be about 65kg by October.

Not been great with diet, had gastro since Wednesday and still suffering. Diet and exercise out the window for now. Just looking to get better,

Got a pretty good gym routine, just need to increase the HIIT. Diet has been average, really need to pick that up.

Junosmum · 23/05/2016 16:19

1lb is good connie. Exercise causes water retention in the muscles to help fuel them. Once your body gets used to exercise this will no-longer happen and you'll lose more.

I'm back on it today. Had porridge for breakfast and salmon salad for lunch. Having rhubarb and lentil curry for tea.

Sign me up. 5,10 and currently 11st 2, having dropped approx 7lb in last few weeks. Had a baby 3 months ago so am breastfeeding , low carbing, Fitbit and exercise where I can manage it. Weaknesses are sugar and boredom. Aiming to get back to 10 stone. Will sign up to the FB group!

DorindaJ · 28/05/2016 18:22

Did a step aerobics DVD, then ate a small bag of M&Ms Hmm...low calorie days are going well though. I will concentrate on reducing portion size on non fast days in the coming week in an attempt to educate my tummy to expect less.
