I'm looking for a buddy to join me and help motivate to lose some of this flab! I'm 5'7" and about 12st but will weigh in tomorrow morning.

Hi everyone Smile

weigh in - 11st 9.8 lbs
goal weight - 10st
age - 46
Motivation - summer's coming and I want to feel fit and slim again

lorelei9here · 28/03/2016 13:53

not planning to share detail as per the template but will post with loss every week.

my weigh in this AM was the same as yesterday.

I'm 40.

My motivation is mainly that my doctor told me to, I think she wants me to on a POP instead of combined pill (Argh!) - and vanity!

MarjorieFrangipani · 28/03/2016 14:29

I'm finding an iPhone app called 'ultimate food value diary plus' useful. It was very cheap, or even free IIRC, think it's similar to old style WW with an allowance of points per day, a large data base for food values, food diary tracker, etc.
It was recommended on another thread a while back and I've been using it loosely since Oct and lost a stone, but I'm on it properly from today and hope to be even more dedicated. I think it's a similar idea to MFP, and It's a good way to remind myself that EVERYTHING I eat matters, and not just keep stuffing it in there mindlessly.

Dalmatian2017 · 28/03/2016 15:17

Thanks Nova that's a great idea. I'll do that from next week. My motivation is being a bridemaid early Sept, and they are all size 8-10 and I'm 14-16. I'm hoping to be a size 12 so I don't stand out too much! I didn't have breakfast in the end as we were out of apples too! I had pasta with tuna and sweetcorn for lunch (no mayo). Not sure what to do for dinner yet, I have chicken and lamb chunks in so probably something with that.

Is anyone else finding it hard with lots of Easter chocolate in? I'm letting the kids eat as much as they like so it's gone quicker haha! They can't believe their luck!

Hello, I'm 5'4 and about 12 and a half stone (been working in kg, so 82).

I signed up for Hairy Bikers Diets on Wed in an attempt to motivate myself, and so far I've been really good at discipline and I've lost 1.5kg, mostly water I know, but I feel inspired! Been doing c25k since Jan so I'm sure I'm toning up too, would like to lose a stone before mid May and another by Aug. Well really I'd like to lose 2 by tomorrow, but trying to be realistic!

twentiethcenturybitch · 28/03/2016 15:45

Can I join too? Pretty much identical stats to you Dalmatian and it's 2 stone over the top end of my normal weight range pre-kids. Lost all the weight quickly after DC1 without any real effort but not managed at all after DC2 (and it's well over a year). Need to kick myself into shape as only a tiny fraction of my clothes fit and I refuse to believe I will stay this size. I don't really know what's going to work this time so will read the full thread for some inspiration.

ThisToo · 28/03/2016 16:06

I'm not sure the "everything in moderation" approach would work for me either Nova, I'm one of those people who can't eat just one chocolate. I will start with your suggestion of waiting a good 30-45 mins after a meal and see if that helps and then hopefully start cutting back significantly on the sweets. Thank you.

ToomuchChocolatemeansBootcamp · 28/03/2016 16:14

Had water and scrambled eggs this morning before I remembered I was supposed to weigh in oops! On the LC boot camps we always weighed first thing in the morning, naked, after pee but before consuming anything to try to get as close to a true weight as possible.
Removal of contact lenses, body hair and clipping nails all optional! Grin

TippyTappyLappyToppy · 28/03/2016 16:35

Everything in moderation is fine for maintaining your new weight after excess weight is already lost but I have zero confidence that it will be effective in achieving substantial weight loss, it would be painfully slow unless you exercised like an absolute demon.

NovaArt3mis · 28/03/2016 16:42

Very true tippy.

Yup ThisToo, I could eat an entire pack of biscuits without even noticing.

I used to do starkers weigh in Toomuch but I usually don't bother anymore. Do take off my glasses though, they're right chunky like me

princessstrop · 28/03/2016 17:34

Weigh in: 11st 12lb
Lbs lost this week: 0
Lbs lost overall: 0
Goal weight: 9st 7lb
Age: 20
Height: 5ft 2in
Motivation: Holiday in July/Wedding after the summer. I also want to like the way I look naked! Easter Blush

ijustwanttobeme · 28/03/2016 18:31

Yesterday I decided enough was enough and vowed to get eat healthier and get fitter, but was worried that as I didnt have a buddy to help me I'd fall at the first hurdle. My DFriend who I used to do SW with, won't go anymore and I am too cowardly to go alone.

Then I saw this thread earlier today.

I am 1 1/2 stone heavier than I was a year ago, and none of my clothes fit properly.

Weigh in: 9st 9
Lbs lost this week: 0
Lbs lost overall: 0
Goal weight: 8st 2
Age: 49
Height: 4' 11
Motivation: short term, I just want to be fitter and healthier,. Longer term, got to get to grips with this as I turn 50 (next January) with a wedding (mine, possibly in September) that I need to look fabulous for.

Will be low carbing.

Herbal teas all day today
Tuna mayo for lunch
Pork belly for dinner tonight with broccoli and carrots

ThisToo · 28/03/2016 19:12

I think you're right Tippy and, like most people, I need to see results from the start to have any hope of staying motivated. I'm going to have to find the will power to say no to sugar - it's the only way.

A wedding, especially your own Ijustwant, must be a great motivator - congratulations! Smile

Cocoaone · 28/03/2016 19:23

I'm in the same boat as lots of you, so I'm in. Roughly 11.5st I think, 5'5".

I just can't seem to find the motivation, and all the while I try ... the scales keep getting higher and higher. It can't continue! I'm a proper carb fiend too, and worry about diabetes, just obviously not enough to actually do something about it Hmm

I've got a girly holiday early June, and I'm a bridesmaid at the end of August. It's only 8 weeks until June, so aiming for half a stone off before then at least, and down to 10st before the wedding. I'll weigh and post stats tomorrow

hollyisalovelyname · 28/03/2016 19:31

Today is a bad day for me - having our Easter Sunday dinner today and lots of chocolate cr** and sweets around. I had given up sweets ( successfully) for Lent not that it affected my weight.

NovaArt3mis · 28/03/2016 19:50

I'm the same Holly, it was my birthday yesterday and there's half a chocolate cake left in the fridge. Hoping DH demolishes it.

Enjoy your Easter dinner! Smile

Tiredemma · 28/03/2016 20:49

Ive been good all day and just been out and ran 5k.

If I dont lose weight then im beyond help

tigerchair · 28/03/2016 20:56

Today's food has been ok. Trying to keep things low carb to start with. Breakfast was sausages, egg and bacon. Lunch was just 2 babybel cheeses because I wasn't that hungry. Dinner was steak and roasted veg. Loads of water.

But having some wine as no work tomorrow!

Tiredemma · 28/03/2016 21:13

I had cauliflower rice with my chilli con carne.

Its not the same as rice rice.

Tiredemma · 28/03/2016 21:28

Anyone on MFP?

Im emlouwat if anyone wants to add me (for motivation or peer pressure...)

Dalmatian2017 · 28/03/2016 22:37

My phone has run out of memory so I had to delete MFP! Once I manage to get my photos off I'll add it again and add you.

OP posts:
ijustwanttobeme · 28/03/2016 22:40

tiredemma I'm on MFP, so will invite you.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 28/03/2016 23:05

Weigh in: 11 stone 11 lb
Lbs lost this week: TBC
Lbs lost overall: TBC
Goal weight: 10 stone
Age: 38
Height: 5'3"
Motivation: To be fitter, healthier and less tired.

I'll be doing MFP and NHS Couch 2 5K. I lost loads of weight doing this before and was much encouraged by MNers on another weight loss thread, but sadly I've put it all back on, so I'm back again.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 28/03/2016 23:06

Oh and I've just registered on MFP as FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson if anyone wants to add me.

lorelei9here · 28/03/2016 23:33

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson - you realise I'm expecting you to cheer me up every weigh in with your ascerbic wit? Grin

which reminds me, another thing about weight loss is it often means Surprising Rice is on the menu at least once a week. Well, Surprisingly Low Fat Rice....sigh.
