I'm doing this for Lent. Just completed Week 1 Run 3.

Seems OK at the moment!

Just me then.

Completed Week 2 Run 1.

Thought the penultimate run was the last one, and ran fast for the last 45 seconds or so. Walked along and thought "oh shit!" When the podcast goes, "last run now!" Grin

Hi there, 00100001,
I've been doing Couch to 5k for a number of weeks now. Am currently on Week 5 option 2, and can't get over how much I've improved since I started. So, stick with it!

00100001 · 18/02/2016 20:53

That's good to know :)

How didbyourbfirdt weeks go for you?

We are doing it as a group after work, so initially everyone started at the same level and some of us moved on faster than others. Some are doing the 90 seconds running and 1 minute (I think!) walking, whereas more of us are on Week 5. However, whereas some people chose to start with option 2 week 5, I did option 1 first as I didn't think I'd be able to sustain 8minutes of running. However, I tried it yesterday, and today I tried it on s circuit that I usually walk. The last time I tried running part of it, I could only manage 3mins max. Today I was stunned to find that I coped with the 8min sessions fine. Tomorrow or Saturday I'm going to try the 20 minute session as that is option 3 of week 5. Not sure how it'll go though!

I'm on week 7, just completed day 1. I did have a few weeks break (hols) between weeks 3 and 4 though so it's taken me much longer but am on a roll now. It gets tougher from week 6 but i'm finally getting the distance of (5k) which I wasn't quite hitting before... I walk & jog though, not terribly fast!

I did Week 2 - Run 3 went easily enough so far.

I have been running for slightly longer than the pod cast says. I start when she starts talking and job all through her waffle at the end of the run sections.

I did week 2 run 1 today on treadmill.

Found it hard because of nasty shin splints I get from treadmill.

00100001 · 25/02/2016 10:13

Ewww, shin splints. I'm lucky enough to run on grass mostly, so far so good :)

Me....Wk4 R2 to do tomorrow (or later today)

Coping ok, but the thought of having to run for 20 minutes in week 5 run 3 fills me with dread!

Lenazabaglione · 25/02/2016 11:53

Me too Peas, tried C25k three times now, and bailed out on week 5. The thought of that 20 minute run is terrifying. This thread is spurring me on to try it again though and hopefully get past week 5 this time!

peasareevilcreatures · 25/02/2016 11:56

It's a big jump up from the other 8 minute runs isn't it? I think I might be able to manage those next week but 20 minutes, no way!!

peasareevilcreatures · 25/02/2016 11:57

Lenazabaglione I'll keep doing the wk5 runs 1&2 and wait for you to catch up and we'll go for it together!! (think it'll take me another 5 weeks to get to that point!)

dontsufferfools · 25/02/2016 11:57

I'm on week 7 run 1. I have not been able to run since last Thursday and I tried last night and couldn't do it at all.

So back to week 6 run 1 for me tonight :(

cheapandcheerful · 25/02/2016 12:03

There's a great c25k on the exercise board - you might get more replies there :)

MimsyBorogroves · 25/02/2016 12:27

I've been trying, but I think I ended up with a stress fracture in my ankle so had to take a couple of weeks off. I'm on week 3, started it again on Tuesday. Was meant to do run 2 yesterday but everything hurt too much. Planning to go tomorrow.

Lenazabaglione · 25/02/2016 13:24

You're on Peas! You might be waiting a while though! Going to start week 1 again tomorrow morning. Will keep you posted.

00100001 · 25/02/2016 18:48

Just done Week 3 Run 1. Went quite well really, except the tines In ran through a muddy puddle

OP posts:
O2BDisciplined · 26/02/2016 09:12

I never thought I'd be able for the 20mins of running but I actually achieved it! Music helped as did making sure I didn't go too fast (averaged 11min per mile) when I checked results on Walkrun app at the end. The ironic thing is that you go back to 5 and 8 mins of running in week 6. Smile

00100001 · 26/02/2016 09:21

I get bored in the longer runs ("longer"!) I might have to find a different route for my proper longer runs.

OP posts:
PinkiPhone · 26/02/2016 12:01

Week 7 run 2 completed last night! It does get easier, I run indoors on a treadmill (too cold outside at the moment for me) with a nice TV program to watch. Helps distract whilst doing a longer run.

Keep going everyone!

Beautydiva · 27/02/2016 17:57

Week 2 run 2 done. Reduced the speed today to ease of the shin splints.

peasareevilcreatures · 27/02/2016 18:20

I got shin splints the last time I tried c25k years ago. I'm not this time round but I have running shoes now rather than run of the mill trainers.
Also last time I couldn't progress past week 2 and now I'm halfway through 5!
