I have my first appointment with my consultant booked for three weeks time. I've done lots of research and prepping and just wondered if anyone else was in the same position? I could do with the support! Smile

Hi Maria, I am also on Exante, Day 4 and I am actually so hungry I could rip my arm off and eat it. However I have just had the mushroom soup which I really like!! But the downside is thats it for the day. Sad

I am a very tight size 14, and 12.7lbs and really need to be a 9.7 weight to feel my happy self, I don't even have children so can't use them as an excuse. I just like food, especially food that comes delivered in a flat box with a domino on the front!! DOn't have a sweet tooth so the two shakes I have had the strawberry cheesecake and chocolate are REALLY sweet.

I also think that there is a market for a cheese that is calorie and fat free but still tastes like cheese!!!

billabye · 02/02/2016 20:23

I'm so full from those konjac noodles in my soup at lunchtime I can't face my spaghetti pack which isn't like me at all! Im forcing a shake down instead Smile

browneyedgirl1974 · 03/02/2016 14:08

Hi maria. I am on exante too. Day 6. I have between 4 and 6 stone to lose long term but 2 stone initially. I am about a size 20 too.
It is ok so far. Trying to try out as many as possible as want to order 100 for £85 before the offer ends.
just wondering though about carbs. Not sure how many carbs you can have to go into ketosis. The exante products seem to have between 17 and 20 gms which seems high.
Has anyone else researched this?

toastyarmadillo · 03/02/2016 18:17

The vlcd packs work out to 60 ish carbs in a day, which is low enough to get you into ketosis. However, if your doing a low carb diet like keto, I had to keep my carbs below 20 a day.

toastyarmadillo · 03/02/2016 18:20

Managed to survive a trip to Costa with my mum, sat all virtuously with my Americano, black of course, while she wolfed down a toasty and a cake, all washed down with a latte.
So today I had a tesco ultraslim bar at lunch, dinner was curry with konjac noodles to fill me up, then a jam and yogurt bar.
Jam and yogurt bar was a disappointment, won't be ordering those again.

billabye · 03/02/2016 18:29

Well done on your self restraint in Costa, toasty! I find those situations v tough

Lulooo · 03/02/2016 19:15

I'll be cooking one of my favourite dinners for dinner today (pearl barley broth & plum and marzipan pie) but I will show the same restraint as Toasty hopefully.

browneyedgirl1974 · 04/02/2016 09:46

Hi. Great willpowertoasty. Ihad a cheese and bacon scone thing for breakfast and I could not eat more halve of it. It was horrid. So here's the dilemma. Just have two more packs or 3 or eat halve of the third.
anyone else had this dilemma?
Thanks for carb advice too toasty

browneyedgirl1974 · 04/02/2016 09:50

You can do it luloo Dh and the kids had a chippy last night and I didn't even grab a leftover chip. Tbh the smell of them made me heave.

plumstone · 04/02/2016 10:07

Hi Brown, I am not sure about that, I would maybe have a shake as you do need three to get all the nutrients.

Touch wood there is nothing that I haven't been unable to eat, however I won't be ordering as many of the pancakes next time, no idea what I did but managed to order 20 packs of them, and only 5 of the sweet and sour noodles, which I am loving.

Cannot remember if someone said it on this thread or another one, but by the time I get home from work and have dinner, I could pretty much eat anything. However when I have anything that is not a shake I am full before it is finished - so I guess the whole stomach shrinking thing is working!!!

billabye · 04/02/2016 11:16

Brown in that situation i'd just have a full shake instead

nickdrakeslovechild · 04/02/2016 14:11

Can I ask a personal question please? Blush has anyone else had a period yet on this diet?? Mine is lasting longer than normal and really heavy, not sure if its just an odd one or the diet?!

plumstone · 04/02/2016 14:23

Cannot comment Nick, I am on the pill and not due for two weeks - very light normally tho!

NickNacks · 04/02/2016 16:02

I have the implant and have had a period much earlier than it was due by around a week.

billabye · 04/02/2016 17:40

I've heard that estrogen can be released into the body when the fat is being dispatched which can cause crazy periods

browneyedgirl1974 · 04/02/2016 19:57

Thanks. Opted for an extra shake. It will take me a bit over but it's better than under. I can't help as my periods have stopped.

nickdrakeslovechild · 04/02/2016 20:30

Thanks, its really heavy and been over a week which isn't like me at all. Just had a google and found this on Cambridge website.

Do Cambridge Weight Plan programmes affect the menstrual cycle?
Hormone levels fluctuate when there are changes in weight – particularly in women. Rapid weight loss with a VLCD may temporarily affect the menstrual cycle. Ovulation, however, is probably not interrupted.
In most cases the menstrual cycle remains unchanged but for some women breakthrough bleeding or heavier periods may occur. Others may find that their periods stop for a while. Fertility may also be affected and unexpected pregnancies have been known to occur, therefore if you have been trying unsuccessfully to become pregnant, you need to be aware that during and after weight loss, fertility may increase.
The metabolism of hormonal contraceptives may be affected during effective weight loss and so we recommend additional methods of contraception if you do not wish to fall pregnant while on a programme.

SwedeDreams · 04/02/2016 21:41

Nick, you can use ibuprofen to greatly reduce your period. Google it - but basically just take every four hours. I used to suffer horribly and this was so helpful at times!

browneyedgirl1974 · 05/02/2016 09:22

Well I have been doing exante for a week now with no cheating. I have lost about 4 pounds. I know I should be thrilled but I have in the past lost more than this on week one of Rosemary Conley without the slump in energy I am feeling. Maybe this I am losing fat not water. Anyway ordered 100 items yesterday so will persevere for another month at least.
Off to the gym for the 1st time this week to do a light session. Going to weigh myself on their scales and will do this weekly in future.

NickNacks · 05/02/2016 11:29

browneyedgirl please keep going, 4 lbs off is great, that's how much I lost at my weigh in this morning. It makes it more than a stone each month- exactly what my Cambridge consultant predicts on the plan.

Total for me is 19 lbs in 4 weeks, from 16.9 and today I weigh 15.4. Very pleased Grin

billabye · 05/02/2016 11:53

Wow NickNacks you must feel great!

And yes Browneyedgirl, please keep going. I read somewhere that if you stick with this diet you'll really thank yourself in 3 months time. I tell myself this when I'm struggling and it helps.

nickdrakeslovechild · 05/02/2016 12:34

Only lost another 3 so 15lb in 4 weeks. Got another 2 stone to go.

browneyedgirl1974 · 05/02/2016 15:48

Thanks. I am not givingp as too much is at stake. I just don't have an off switch when it comes to real food. Also tbh with rc weight loss slows down but judging by your results it does not so much with vlcd. Anyay scales at gym weighed me at 13 13. Eek that 3lb more than my scales at home.

toastyarmadillo · 05/02/2016 16:59

Ironically I popped onto this thread to ask about periods, I have the mirena coil, so no periods for 4 years until today, very weird.

Other than that, it's going well. Managed to keep it 100% no slips the last few days, am out tomorrow night, having a girls gathering at my friends house, nibbles, drinks, take away and a sleep over. Planning to take a bottle of coke zero, I don't drink alcohol anyway but am worried about the nibbles and take away. Do I treat it as a planned night off but not go nuts or try to not eat anything. We only really get together once a year, so it's not going to be a regular thing either! Thoughts?

loopsylala · 06/02/2016 14:47

Hi, I'm looking at the CWP but I'm a bit unsure as to whether it will work for me.

What is the cost? Do you pay weekly or monthly?

Can you do eg 2 meal replacements and a normal dinner? Can you eat anything else eg fruit around the shakes?

I'm rather concerned about feeling ill/faint/dizzy whilst doing it. I'm also rather fussy about my food and there doesn't seem to be many flavours etc that appeal to me.

But losing weight quickly does appeal.

Advice would be appreciated.
