Can't believe we've had to start a new thread already!

I'm on plan today and feeling good about it, this weight will go down! Still 10'13 this morning, not too disappointed. Hoping it'll go down with a good sleep or two over the weekend!

Sorry to hear you have had bad news must. Take good care. Be kind to yourself, and take each day as it comes.

Take care too Emz. Look after yourself too. That M&S lunch looks good.

I've just made a huge spag bol. Quite impressed by my personal portion control. DS said it wasn't as good as usual Hmm. DH scoffed his down, not coming up for air, then farted, and failed to pass any form of comment. DD enjoyed hers. Thank goodness for my dog Wink

twinkle183 · 11/01/2016 19:09

Oh Emz MND is awful.... Hope you and your family are okay???? I know is hard not to get obsessed with weigh loss... I am guilty of being like you.. Can get completely fixated on the scales and how much I need to loose! We are all here for you.. So feel free to say whatever you need!!! We will all try and help!!! X

Bathsheba3 · 11/01/2016 19:25

Those poor children, and poor family. Life can be so cruel to those that so don't deserve the bad luck. Flowers Emz

Is Wine any good Must? otherwise Brew & Cake. Hope you sleep this OK evening.

Emz449 · 11/01/2016 20:40

Thanks all Flowers I think it's just thinking of his kids that makes it so sad, they won't really understand. He's always such a lively and vibrant person, just can't imagine it. It's an early diagnosis though so have to focus on the positives and make the most of the time. Having this thread makes things better in a way, it's great to be able to have such support on so many things other then weight loss, again Flowers

Thank you everyone! I'm feeling a little bit better, but still worried. I had some porridge with semi skimmed milk a while ago because my stomach was growling. 😕 Still only had just over 700cals! Might treat myself to 2 of my chocolates later with a cup of tea if I feel peckish..... verry rock n roll. Got my favourite box of chocolates for christmas (Hotel Chocolat) and I haven't even opened them yet.

Sorry to hear you're having a rough time Emz take care.

Not2bObvious · 12/01/2016 05:46

Morning all. Hope everyone (when they get up - awake AGAIN at 5am....sigh) is in good form? Sad to hear of the challenges facing some, life's very hard sometimes.
Finished off yesterday just over 1000 which seems to be my average soup day cals, need to shave 200 off that, my new addiction to chewy sweets isn't helping, need to knock that on the head for sure! Aiming for a 1200-1300 day today. In 2 minds as to whether to do my usual Tuesday WI, I was a disgrace over the weekend - not standing on the scales won't change that of course, oh we'll see. Going to read for an hour & then get up. Anyone else planned out their day? Love hearing about others food plans. I'm having bacon & tomato for brekkie, left over chilli/basil chicken in bed of rocket topped with a poached egg and meatballs in tomato & basil sauce with wholewheat pasta. I'm feeling hungry already!

JontyDoggle37 · 12/01/2016 06:40

Morning all. So sorry to hear about tough times Emz and IMust*. Sometimes it does make you feel better being 'in control' of one area of your life wen you can't control all the other stuff happening around you. Flowers
I'm back down to 10st 2.75 this morning, so ready to lose a bit more this week now. Not2b breakfast will be porridge with blueberries and Munchy Seeds, lunch is pasta with roasted veg and pesto and tonight will be a turkey jalfrezi (still using up Christmas turkey from the freezer!)

JontyDoggle37 · 12/01/2016 06:43

Oh and I've got strength training to do this morning (trying to work out if I can do push-ups with broken little finger) and then will be attempting to ride the guilty horse tonight who broke the finger in the first place! Was up feeding baby at 1 and 4 so chugging down coffee now and working on my business plan (yawn).

Not2bObvious · 12/01/2016 07:19

You working on your business plan has reminded me I need to get started on my exam application form - I'll see your yawn and raise you too 😉
Decision to WI or not was taken out of my hands with my girls wanted to come in for a cuddle 5 mins after I last posted. I didn't want them to see me going out with my 2 scales to the bathroom (2 scales, yeah I know but there's a silly reason) so I'll hold off until tomorrow. Finished breakfast, cooked meatballs for tonight, lunch prepped - set for success! Your lunch sounds yum jonty, I adore pesto but don't have much control around it so rarely buy it but I had it over the weekend, on crusty bread and on pizza, droooool

Bathsheba3 · 12/01/2016 07:28

Not2be - I think you will be pleasantly surprised tomorrow fingers crossed but good decision re: scales and DD's. I have to very consciously NOT talk about weight. But that is fine.

Down to 11 10.5 today! A lot of whooshing yesterday, but that's probably it for a week Wink.

So after going mad saturday, the rest of the hard work really did pay off.

Keep strong everyone. Am amazed at everyone's energy already this morning. Still, needs must. I'm dashing out on a school run now. Byee ......

twinkle183 · 12/01/2016 07:58

So... My organisation of food prep was a complete success so it's a repeat tonight! SmileGrin I am absolutely knackered and had no break Sad... Well done girls am loving how motivated this group is!!! Goodnight all... I'll catch up later xxx

FannyGlum · 12/01/2016 08:00

Hi, I'm new. Been using mfp for a week. I'm eating well, recording everything (weighing where possible). I've stuck to my limit of 1400, and been running 4 times 3+ miles. On a couple of days I've eaten into a few exercise calories, as running makes me hungry, but never the whole lot.

I've lost nothing. Not even half a lb. Any ideas?

Thankfulforeveryday · 12/01/2016 08:49

2lb off!! Yay!! It's been bloody hard work though. I'm on a new hrt that makes me starving!!! I've stuck to 1200 everyday, I've done, pump, let, and spinning this week too so I think that's helped! Same again this week but tonight I'm booked in for a 7 course tasting menu, not sure that'll be good for the waistline Shock
Keep going everyone!
Fanny, how much do you have to lose? I have to drop to 1200 to shift anything at all, I've got 14lb left to lose?? Are you eating to many carbs?? Or to late at night? Might just be a blip, don't let it slow you down X

MustBeThin · 12/01/2016 08:54

Welcome Fanny I'm sure someone here will be able to help. I've only been doing this for a week.

Rubbish nights sleep, down another 1lb so 13st 1 now, I can smell the 12's, 6lb down! Still not hungry, managed half a banana. I'm going to go out for lunch, that way I won't skip a proper meal when I don't feel like cooking tonight and if it's one of my favourite meals and I've paid for it I won't want to waste it all. 😐 for tea I can just warm up some soup.

Not2bObvious · 12/01/2016 09:04

Welcome fanny, I hope you won't get discouraged by slow progress, that's what it is, slow not no. You've kept to plan for a number of days, that's the best start. For reasons, well 1st one could be you were heavier than you thought initially (despite what we think weight doesn't go on overnight or truly leave - so you could Xmas on the scales a week later) so you've counteracted what would have been a gain, second - weight loss isn't linear, I say this a lot but the scales doesn't know it's been x number of days and you've been good, thirdly are you drinking enough water/ or eating too much salt.
Main thing, don't be a slave to scales (total hypocrite here) Measure yourself, keep going and check again in another week. Best of luck!

FannyGlum · 12/01/2016 11:27

Thanks. I'm wondering if I'm not eating enough! I run 3-4 times a week and my BMR is 1536. With low exercise it goes up to 1600. SO is 1400 too little? I'm 5'6" and weigh 12stone. I need to lose about 2 stone. My TDEE is 2012!

Not2bObvious · 12/01/2016 11:41

I always base my tdee on sedentary and that gets me 1600 I think? I doubt you're eating too little, starvation mode is mythical for us westerners. Don't count exercise calories as they are usually a lot lower than we think. Can you give a sample days food with weights & cals? Only if you have time. Otherwise I'd say give it another week and if there's still no loss, look closer. But I wouldn't worry just yet - I understand it's frustrating but there's likely to be a good explanation, just need to find it. Could've the simplest one, you need mire than time for a loss to show

FannyGlum · 12/01/2016 12:16

On the days I run I just can't survive on 1400 calories, I only eat half my exercise ones, but running makes me starving! I'm also on medication that increases appetite, which makes it really hard.

Example daily food/exercise:

Breakfast: porridge (40g) with semi skimmed milk and 1 teaspoon of honey.

morning snacks: cucumber and carrot sticks with 50g houmous

Lunch: Bagel with peanut butter or reheated dinner (Quorn cottage pie/5 bean chilli)

Afternoon: Greek yogurt with a few seeds and a tsp of honey

Dinner: Something homemade- 5 bean chilli with brown rice/quorn cottage pie/chorizo, kale and brown rice stew.

Running-
3-4 miles at 11 min/miles. Every other day.

Not2bObvious · 12/01/2016 13:40

Maybe your medication is affecting your metabolism as well? Maybe more protein would help on the run days? Could be you need to see a dietitian for advice if you don't start to lose in the next couple of weeks, you sound pretty fit to run that distance/speed so were you eating a lot more before now?

Bathsheba3 · 12/01/2016 16:41

Hi Fanny . I'm not an expert so can't advise. All I do know is how frustrating it is when you cut down so much and still no loss, and also how little food 1200 cals actually is when comparing with previous portion sizes that got me into fatty jeans to start with

Are you veggie? could you up your protein a bit? But I don't really know much. only I am more hungry if I don't have a couple of bits of protein in the day. Your diet sounds yum great to me otherwise

MustBeThin · 12/01/2016 17:18

Went out for lunch, had lasagne and garlic bread from Carluccio's Grin with a glass of their is it called summer garden juice? (it's an amazing alcohol free drink if you haven't tried it) Not healthy food but I'm not too concerned, had half a banana for breakfast and I'm not hungry for anything else yet so I doubt I've done too much damage as I've been under my calories all week. It's nice not having to think about cooking my tea.

Not2bObvious · 12/01/2016 17:30

That sounds delicious must, I'm starving!!! I'd love garlic bread to go with my meatballs and wine
No exercise done today and at this point it's doubtful that will change! Feeling meh, would love to snaffle crisps/chocolate and again wine

Bathsheba3 · 12/01/2016 18:42

Meant to say 2 lb off is brilliant thankful. As you know sadly only too well to live for the moment, don't even think of calorie counting this evening. Sounds as though you have a special evening out, so keep it just that. Enjoy, have fun, savour every mouthful and tell us all about it tomorrow. Are you dressing-up too?

7 courses sounds huge, but surely a taster menu is just that. If you were to have it all on one plate, it would hardly make up a full proper dinner she says wishful thinking for you.

JontyDoggle37 · 12/01/2016 20:51

Think I might be catching what my son had over the weekend. That or my body has gone on strike. Bad headache, ache/hurt all over, sore throat and feeling a bit sick. Healthy jalfrezi I was planning to cook went out the window and husband cooked cups and peas to go with cold defrosted turkey. It has been quite a full on day although no running today. I have not got time to be properly ill! [wails]

JontyDoggle37 · 12/01/2016 20:51

Chips. Not cups. We definitely don't eat cups. The diet has not got that bad.
