Emz449 · 13/11/2015 10:38

Can't believe we've had to start a new thread already!

I'm on plan today and feeling good about it, this weight will go down! Still 10'13 this morning, not too disappointed. Hoping it'll go down with a good sleep or two over the weekend!

Hi everyone, I'm going to give mfp another go, it worked fine last time, then weight all piled back as soon as I stopped using the app.
I have an annoying stone or so to lose.
I'm 'greenellee' if anyone wants to add me on mfp (please!) Smile
I'm curious to see how the social side of mfp works!
Thanks for this thread!

Rowgtfc72 · 04/01/2016 00:20

Hi everyone.hope its OK to join in.
Used mfp before successfully but unfortunately I'm a foodie with no willpower and am back on it. Have set DD up as my personal trainer. Currently weighing in at 15st5, dh reckons I can't get down to 13st by may. Got my birthday and a weekend away to contend with this month and can't start till Tues till I've eaten my crisps and dip and the last of the Christmas cake( could never bin it).
On the serious side I have no portion control which affects my DD (7) as I feed her too much. Managed not to mention the overweight word but selling it as getting healthy. On the NHS thingy she comes out as obese but our gp says she's fine. She's a dancer and very muscular. also very outspoken and will work well as a fridge alarm for me and badger me to complete my exercise for the day!

JontyDoggle37 · 04/01/2016 06:27

Rowgtfc72 don't force yourself to eat all the Christmas cake at once. You can still eat it once you start your 'diet'. MFP means you can have treats, just small ones, so it might be nice to keep some and then have it in small portions.
Welcome mountains I've added you on MFP.
I'm up 0.75lbs this morning, which is salt bloat after dinner out last night. Pizza Express is really very good for lower calorie options: I had the Marinated Olives as my starter (they're delicious so I savour every one rather than feeling like I need a big starter), then a Leggera pizza for my main, which is only 500 calories and a small glass of wine. Slightly over yesterday's calorie goal as a result, but today I'll be slightly under so it will even out. Aiming for another 1lb off by Friday morning. Off out for 3 mile run now. Have a good day all

Not2bObvious · 04/01/2016 07:25

Morning all. Down .4 from Saturday so now 12.2.6, soup day today. Whether it's light hearted or not, just to say the approach of getting "rid" of the goodies is exactly why we get over weight. Nothing's forbidden, we have to learn to control ourselves, that's the best thing lesson we can learn & teach our kids. No starving, no bingeing. I know it's said so often but that's cause it's true, we need to adopt a new way of eating not diet as such.

Rowgtfc72 · 04/01/2016 08:25

Done mfp three times now and have sussed what treats I can and can't have and what I can bargain against exercise. I can get to three weeks with sensible eating, portion control and treats( you have to have treats!) I lose weight well, its getting to the end of the fourth week I struggle with!
This time needs to be a lifestyle change, I'm getting on, 44 this Jan, and I'm starting to creak like an old lady. I know if I can crack week four I'm laughing, its just getting to that point.
Im crap at skipping meals, too lazy to go out and buy treats.
Breakfast is porridge oats made with water, dinner a ham cheese salad wrap and fruit. That's it from half four when I get up till half two when I get in from work, and its enough. It's when I get home to my fridge the problem starts!

Anyway, thanks for the wise words ladies, off to crank up the step counter and clean my house into submission as I have a day off. Have a good daySmile

IMustEatMoreVeg · 04/01/2016 08:47

I have managed to gain another pound over night Confused when I definitely stuck to 1200 yesterday. That is quite annoying to say the least. I didn't think what I ate was salty but maybe it was. Anyway, I have a big walk planned for today unless it rains, and a nice light day of food. Hope it all comes off again tomorrow

Bathsheba3 · 04/01/2016 09:08

Good morning everyone! Nice to catch up. Great whooping Jonty! You are doing SO well. Sorry to hear about your alb up Imust. It will be off tomorrow again, plus more.

Not2b - so very right. Well said. I've done too much getting "rid" of food which is why I am back up to 12 stone 0 this morning Sad. Knew the scales were wrong last week. But as Jonty very kindly said, the important thing is getting back in the driving seat and taking control.

Back onto logging everything onto MFP from today.

JontyDoggle37 · 04/01/2016 09:18

Great to see you back Bath!

MustBeThin · 04/01/2016 10:19

Right breakfasts was 129 cals, only been drinking water out of my new filter bottle. I'm struggling to find calories for my tea. Anyone have and idea what portion size I'm supposed to have (diced chicken) and how many calories? Also what's everyone's rice portion like? I bought asda brown long grain and it says 75g per person but I have a feeling this will be too much as I can't even eat a whole bag uncle bens boil in the bag rice.

Testarossa1 · 04/01/2016 10:45

Good start to my first day, shreddies for breakfast with milk for just 197 cals. Got Covent Garden tomato soup for lunch, just 84cals. Have had a clementine for a snack and drinking lots of water. At the gym tonight and got my Ipod nano clipped on my belt with the step counter on to motivate me to move more!!

JontyDoggle37 · 04/01/2016 12:12

MustBeThin I have 60g rice.
Chicken I usually have about 120-150g, depending on what is with it.
To all new starters please don't try to eat as little as possible - you will get low blood sugar which can result in headaches, mood swings and is more likely to make you break your diet. If you have an allowance of 1300 calories for example, I would aim for 300 for breakfast, 300 for lunch, 4-500 for dinner with a bit left over for cups of tea and a small snack. If your soup is only 84 calories, cook a small portion of rice in it to give you some bulk. Have protein at every meal as well, be it meat, yogurt, cheese, pulses or nuts. You'll stay filler for longer and won't get the urge to snack half as much. My lunch today is a home made wrap with 120g chicken, lettuce, cucumber and some salad cream.

MustBeThin · 04/01/2016 12:15

Worked out today's meal and I'm 462 cals under my 1250 allowance Shock

Breakfast 1 slice wholemeal toast with 12g primula
Lunch 1 slice whole meal toast, 100 butter with poached egg
Tea curry and brown rice

Does this mean I need to fit snacks in as someone mentioned not eating right bellow my allowance in case my body goes into starvation mode and holds on to the fat? I bought some fat free yogurt, blueberries and bananas.

MustBeThin · 04/01/2016 12:17

Whoops missed your post jonty

Testarossa1 · 04/01/2016 12:35

Jontydoggle, I'm having rice cakes and half an avocado with my soup and some mango and plain yoghurt after, so not just the soup! I've used mfp on and off over the last year, when I stuck with it I lost 10lbs. So not rushing in to it as an unknown! Wink

MustBeThin · 04/01/2016 13:06

Bloody hell, can't believe how little 10g of butter is!! Didn't even cover the edges of my toast just melted straight in the middle, no wonder I'm a fat sod probably have 3 times that normally. Blush

MustBeThin · 04/01/2016 13:16

What does everyone allow for a mug of Yorkshire tea with milk? Seems to vary quite a bit on MFP.

Binglet · 04/01/2016 13:40

Can I join!! Jumped on the scales last night and didn't like what a saw. Currently 9st 7lb 2oz and want to get down to about 8.5stone (pre baby weight). Can't blame the baby now as she's coming to up to 2 Blush
I've used MFP before and found it helpful. My username is lozzyfoof

DietChic · 04/01/2016 14:21

Down a pound today to 13st 1.4 (precise I know!). Skipped breakfast and had an Eat tortilla soup and a croissant.

Planning a baked potato and butter for lunch and a gym session. Should be around 1000 calories for the day. I am so keen to get through the 13st barrier as a mini goal.

Have turned down chocolate cake and candy canes!

Hope everyone is feeling as motivated as me!

Not2bObvious · 04/01/2016 14:48

From my time on the 5:2 boards with some serious sciencey folk the general belief is starvation mode is a bit of a myth. The main thing for everyone is to eat enough to feel satisfied, low fat isn't great as it's loaded with sugar which might send you off the tracks. So pad out each meal to a decent amount, as jonty advised get some protein and carbs aren't the enemy just don't have a tonne. I have around 80gr of cooked rice which is about 40gr uncooked give or take. Eat your meals off a smaller plate, that helps immediately with portion size. Plan meals you'll enjoy, it'll make you much less likely to break. I know the enthusiasm of January is heady stuff, make it work by sustainable changes.
Loving the vibes! Stay with it now 😉

Not2bObvious · 04/01/2016 14:49

must, tea is only 2 cals or so a cup. Just measure out your milk for the day and count that. It wasn't the tea that padded our behinds 😁

IMustEatMoreVeg · 04/01/2016 15:05

Well I have walked my arse off today! Hopefully literally. Fit bit reckons about 5 miles. Feeling good!

MustBeThin · 04/01/2016 15:22

Haha Not2b I only usually have 2 cups a day max anyway but aiming for 1 a day. I've estimated 30 cals for tea, seems mfp has sugars at 8 cal per Tsp (I have 2) and 25ml of cravendale semi skimmed is 12 cals and I have nowhere near that. Had it with 2 Asda Jaffa Cakes which I think are 48-9 cals each.
After all meal planning for the day and my cuppa with jaffa's I will still have 300 calls left.
My belly has been gurgling loads but I haven't eaten less than usual. Confused I'm thinking it's the water because usually I don't drink any and I've had over a pint of it so far. Usually I just have a cuppa with breakfast and I usually feel a little bloated after even though I'd only have a slice of toast with it. Today no breakfast tea, loads of gurgling but less bloat. Strange.

Anyway am I the only one that prefers Asda Jaffa Cakes to the proper make? Hmm I think they are a lot nicer.

Whatthequack · 04/01/2016 16:47

Hi everyone!

Sorry it's been a while. I've been so physically exhausted with ds2 bizarre sleeping habit. Unfortunately the Christmas period the diet went out the window. I weighed myself last night and I've gained 2 pounds.

Whatthequack · 04/01/2016 16:51

During the Christmas period*

I pressed post by accident.

Anyway, well done everyone who has managed to lose weight over the festive period! And hello to all new posters.Smile

I have spin class tonight, along with three other gym classes lined up for this week. I also had a very weird miso soup for lunch which tasted like the sea and had strips of seaweed... Confused

Bathsheba3 · 04/01/2016 16:56

2 pounds isn't much What. Trust me Blush

5 miles is amazing Imust. I've done a fair bit too. May put a fitbit on my bday list (not for a couple of months) - but hoping that I will have shifted a stone in that time, so too late wishful thinking

I've had an excellent day eating, so far. My DC's still not back to school - so ended up roasting salmon with butternut squash, & tons of other veg. Plus upped my water intake. Been to the loo 7 times already though.

I want to kick the sugar, get my skin taught, my eyes less puffy, and my body running on proper nutrients rather than the carbs / sugar that I had slipped back to. Plus up the exercise too. Good goal to get all toned-up Emz now that you have reached weight goal. You'll have abs like Davina before you know it!
