Can't believe we've had to start a new thread already!

I'm on plan today and feeling good about it, this weight will go down! Still 10'13 this morning, not too disappointed. Hoping it'll go down with a good sleep or two over the weekend!

Don't apologise for long posts! I'm no stranger to them. First thing to say is use the work business as a diet tool, keep busy/keep hydrated. If sweet things are a gateway drug for you, you might need to ditch them. The last thing you want at this stage of the year is to lose the plot and come out of Christmas half a stone up. Take it 1 meal at a time and start working on dropping snacks and close the kitchen after dinner. How many cals is mfp recommending for you? Are you very active (if you have kids you're probably moving a good bit - no matter what speed😬) I think you could be the right side of 15 stone by Christmas if you get your head/house in order. Good days lead to more good days. Back in a bit, should be working oops 😉

Not2bObvious · 10/12/2015 15:52

Btw dinner sounds lovely but hollandaise if it's the real deal is very buttery and as a result very calorific - maybe hold the sauce

SimplyMrsBlobby · 10/12/2015 16:17

Hollandsise has to be from scratch. I like the tang of the vinegar and tarragon. Yes kids (older) one at uni and one about to go and another teenager. I'm 40. So done and dusted. Although get broody as friends only just having children.
Sound advice on shutting kitchen. I always feel guilty at night that perhaps hubby is hungry and that's when I go in for snacks....
Perhaps should go without the hollandsise.....

Struggle with willpower especially if something is their and then I think hmmm ok just a little ...and then you know how it goes. Or I've messed it up I will start tomorrow.

It feels motivating to know there are people out there who know what they are doing and seem to have been through similar challenges...

And know how the mind and emotions work.

I love smoked eggs Benedict with smoked salmon so I've experienced and adore the real hollandaise, a little mightn't harm you but I suppose it depends how much butter is in it. Have a decent dinner and let your husband get his own snacks 😉 Other people's eating is their own business. I try not to eat after dinner but if I do I limit it to no more than 200 cals and I have to have enough calories left to cover it. I have to stress it was only when I faced up to my weekend splurging and sod it moments, realised I was kidding no one but myself and I was loosing/regaining the same 4 pounds for 6 months. I've lost 7 pounds in the last month because I just became honest with myself.
I've just finished my dinner, beef with chilli & garlic - around 230 cals, delicious! I've only had 850 today so far, my limit is 1200 today. Having a cheeky glass of vino ok 2

SimplyMrsBlobby · 10/12/2015 17:48

Here what I'm allowed if I'm to lose 1lb a week ....

JontyDoggle37 · 10/12/2015 18:50

Hello. More tired today than yesterday after poorly dog all night and baby woke up 3 times. Today and yesterday's food has not been good, didn't weight this morning, couldn't face it. Hoping for a better night tonight and the return of some mojo tomorrow. So close, and yet so far....

Not2bObvious · 10/12/2015 20:02

A couple of days off plan will do you good jonty, you're very very disciplined all the time, you have a little baby and a full life, take some time, get rest where you can. Don't take the worst form of exercise - beating yourself up - it's counterproductive and plain not nice. I hope your dog is ok Flowers

Not2bObvious · 10/12/2015 20:25

Ooh and shout out to all the ladies getting hair cuts, I too am off to the hairdressers tomorrow - what we hoping for 2-3lbs 😉

Loungingbutnotforlong · 10/12/2015 20:38

hello simply Xmas Grin using MFP even for a week to just log everything that you eat can be super useful and help show where you can cut out the excess calories. I quite like snacks too, but I always try to plan my day out in advance on MFP so I know how many calories I really have to play with for snacks. My favourite snack is salty popcorn- only 130 calls per bag but feels like a real treat.
Finding out the calories on Christmas treats has been shocking- Christmas cake/ mince pies/ quality street/ all my favourites- all now restricted! But having said that I just bought a nice new red dress for Christmas to celebrate the weight loss so far, and i am chuffed to bits! Once you start to see some pounds come off, it is so motivating Grin. Enjoy the haircuts everyone! Mine is Saturday- whoop! I need it!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 10/12/2015 23:42

This week has been a disaster for me. Tonight featured a cocktail, massive glass of wine, three course dinner...
I am completely sick of eating and I can't wait to have some soup days. I can't believe this is me saying this, but I hate feeling so full and heavy after eating so much.

SimplyMrsBlobby · 10/12/2015 23:44

Thanks.
Need to work on the willpower thing big time. So many nice thing to much on while I'm working.

I love a plain red dresses I saw a lovely one in jlewis. Which I'm after if I could just lose a few pounds might be ideal for Christmas.

SimplyMrsBlobby · 10/12/2015 23:46

I'm feeling like I need to visit the hairdressers too. My hairdresser is scary and bossy but she knows what's she doing.... Have no choice but her. Grin

Not2bObvious · 11/12/2015 06:37

Weigh in done, last Friday 11.11.2, this Friday 11.11 even. I was a bit miffed but only for 10 seconds, it means (in my head anyway) I'm truly under 12 stone and it's not a fluke. I know I ate the right numbers to lose a pound so if I keep going as I am I'll see a whoosh in the next week or 2. Now the only problem is tonight's my Christmas party and its weekend time, notoriously hard for me. I need coping tricks, today won't be too bad as I'm busy, I want to save as many calories as possible but need a decent stomach lining before I go out - dinners not til 9! Got to control my tendency to say sod it or I face a day of munching tomorrow while nursing a vile hangover.
imust - I hope you have a good day today, time to regain control, big pint of water to start the day, then some protein? Jonty, how's the dog now, sleep situation any better.
lounging - congrats on the lovely new dress! I'm wearing a slinky/sparkly size 12 tonight, great feeling isn't it?
mrsd Flowers - hope you're on the mend, great to hear from you.
what - you hanging on in there? How's the injury?

JontyDoggle37 · 11/12/2015 07:04

Thanks Not2b, it's been a hard couple of weeks and husbands work at this time of year means he's not around as much to help out, although bless him he did all the night feeds last night so I could sleep more ❤️.
IMust how fantastic it is when your body starts craving healthy food and feeling less full - it's such an achievement in terms of changing your mind- and body-set. (I'm not sure body-set is a word, I just made it up, but you know what I mean!).
No loss here (ha ha as if after the last few days!) but no gain either, which is something to be thankful for. Not running today, just to try and preserve my energy levels a bit. Have also managed to make some good headway with my business setup in the last 24 hours, so that's given me a boost too and I have a photoshoot organised for it on Sunday. So basically, I've stopped being a miserable cow, for today at least GrinHmm

Not2bObvious · 11/12/2015 07:43

Really nice to you're in better form jonty - great news on the business. You do right to conserve your energy, running could be counter productive after this weeks tiredness. Ooh photshoot, that sounds swish 😉

IMustEatMoreVeg · 11/12/2015 10:07

Jonty I don't know how you can even entertain the idea of running when your baby isn't sleeping through. So definitely no problem to not be running!

Lounging and Not2 well done on the lovely dresses. So glad you feel good about them!

Hello Simply. Have you read about urge surfing with regards to will power? It is something we discuss from time to time on this thread. If you feel like you want to eat something snacky and off plan, try to acknowledge the feeling and observe it, but you don't have to act on it. Hopefully after a while the urge will reduce and you can observe it leaving. Worth a shot, eh?

I have had my normal brekkie and just planning to have a soup day. I am up to 10st 7.5 after the week''s excess and I do not feel good. I like the light feeling I have been having recently and I certainly don't want to get into a spiral of overeating. I genuinely think that this diet has reprogrammed my approach to eating - about time too! I'm so tired after a relatively late night. And I had to walk miles yesterday in heels (and I hate getting caught out in stupid shoes) so my feet are killing. I'm going to take it really easy today.

Whatthequack · 11/12/2015 11:01

Morning everyone,

I weighed myself this morning, I'm 10st 8.4 pounds, last Friday I was 10st 13.7 pounds.

Not Enjoy your Christmas party! I'm a lot better now thanks, although I haven't been exercising much this week because of my injury. I am however going to pump class tonight.

For anyone who has a sweet tooth, I have discovered a sweet fix that's healthy! Almost like eating some sweets. Down the baby aisle at Tescos they have bags of Kiddylicious smoothie melts, which is fruit blended and then freeze dried. They taste lovely and melt in your mouth plus are only 21 calories a pack.

MrsDLH · 11/12/2015 11:50

Wow, what, that's a fantastic loss!

Jonty glad you feel more upbeat and sounds like your business is coming along nicely! Don't blame you for not going out for a run...broken sleep, cold...need I say more?

Not2 enjoy your party in your slinky size 12! Yes, definitely recommend eating something before drinking, maybe a bit of protein? And if you dance a lot, if it's that kind of do, you'll burn a few calories!

Lounging I love Christmas cake and mincepies too! Only had a mini mince pie so far, sure there will be more but won't go mad. Lovely treat to yourself for losing weight...and much better than a food treat. I'm getting red glitter nails next week as a Christmas/I lost 27 lbs this year and even if I'm not very motivated at the moment, I will maintain loss and lose more next year treat!

Imust I know what you mean about getting sick of eating, it just gets too much. Sometimes I wish I could have a pill instead of food, no hunger, no food near me...wonder if it would work?! Hope your feet are better.

Simply Nice to 'meet' you. I'm a short 5'2 as well...it sucks because you get less calories to eat and excess weight shows more...but we can do this! My recommendation would be to find an alternative to Pepsi and coke...unless you drink diet versions. I hate diet drinks to rarely drink fizzy these days. I love lime and soda when I'm out and not drinking alcohol.

I was up slightly this morning so 11st 1.5...no biggie...totm and excess fluid is being blamed! I did body pump and cardio last night, it was tough after a 2 week break but it's done! In other non diet news, DD decided that she didn't fancy queuing for the school Christmas fair later as it gets too busy...dodged a bullet there! Grin

Not2bObvious · 11/12/2015 14:36

Great loss what, that's amazing!
Hair done but no cut, so I'm still 11.11😥😉 I've been trying to figure out how I can fit my day around my calories but it just won't work - will have to abandon the an for today at least. After over 2 weeks of keeping within my limits in a bit scared to let my newly highlighted, Dallas'esque hairdo down

Not2bObvious · 11/12/2015 14:37

I hope you all gathered what I meant 😁 This phone turns everything into code. My hairs so big, my face looks tiny!

SimplyMrsBlobby · 11/12/2015 17:03

can you plateau using the mfp method ?

I'm finding will-power thing v difficult, I'm ok for ages then someone will offer me something and I can't help it I break
I'm now actively saving great amount of calories for just theses moment ?

Is there any other method of maintaining a strong resolve ?
Any kind of tricks you can use against your self ?

MFP to lose weight - Part 3
IMustEatMoreVeg · 11/12/2015 17:11

Hi Simply. I think I just consider what do I really actually want? Do I want cake or do I want to fit into a smaller dress size? I find that helps me quite often. Not every time - sometimes I want cake more!!

SimplyMrsBlobby · 11/12/2015 17:26

MrsDhl.

Thanks for accepting me.
My calories are around 1590

There's some dresses that are fine at the top but from the waist down they show the lumpy tummy,
I cannot wear straight cut dresses v well, but A-line, skater types are ok.

I'm becoming a little obsessed with mfp but like I say v weak willed.

So far today seem on target which is good just hope can get through the evening which are worse for me.

IMusteatmoreveg

Is 'urge serving' a blog or an article and where can I get it pls?

And when you go over your calorie count can you make up the next day by eating less calories the next day? Like the 5:2 fast thing ....

I've only just worked out who 'simply' is, it's me!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 11/12/2015 18:20

Yes you are Simply! I don't feel like I can call you Mrs Bobby! I don't know if there are articles about urge surfing, I expect there are lots. I think it is a term used in relation to lots of things including addictions but it is very relevant to weight loss too. I have just found this article which explains it a bit
www.mindfulness.org.au/urge-surfing-relapse-prevention/

SimplyMrsBlobby · 11/12/2015 19:09

Thanks for article.

Dear lounging well done on your size 12 (I wish) you did inspire me to buy a red dress it's a size 18 and I'm normally a 20 so have something now to work towards.

If you over eat one day can you make up the next day by eating less of your calorie allowance ?

And does mfp calorie controlling exhibit weight plateau-ing ??

I don't mind being Mrs blobby just frustrated at being obese. Thanks for your consideration.

Mrs Blobby.
