Thanks guys for the good advice, a holistic masseuse I went to did suggest magnesium - its strange that the doctor had so little to suggest, the reason I brought it up was my mum had been given some sort of sodium tablets for cramps. But for me....tonic water with gin, ok! I'll go to the health shop and see - the triggers do seem to be related to dehydration (which would also affect minerals I'm sure) and extreme tiredness (maybe again a symptom of low minerals)
They've stopped now so I'm hoping they won't reappear in the wee hours! Day 3 of 3 meals and no snacks, around 1100 cals today. Fingers x'ed for a loss by Friday! Hoping all the good luck floating around here has rubbed off on me ??

JontyDoggle37 · 05/11/2015 05:14

Not2b sure you'll see a loss. And the holistic approach is super important for your diet as well - if bits off your body don't feel good it makes it easier to go off track because you don't feel good.
Well, I'm another 1lb down this morning, so now 11.10.5!!!! Which makes up for being up at 5am courtesy of my baby. Need to lose another 1lb this week to hit my weekly target, and this is the time of week when it often all goes wrong, so we shall see! I know we might have a meal out with friends on Friday at the least....

IMustEatMoreVeg · 05/11/2015 14:00

Thanks for the congrats!

Lounging - the weight really came off in fits and starts. I think my first full month was August and I lost a whole stone that month so obviously that was quick. But equally I have lost 3lb in 5 days just now, so it is still coming off quickly some weeks. I think everyone on the thread has been having stalls and whooshes.

Not2- I think before mfp I hadn't really had a proper appreciation of how many calories are in things. Now I understand that a day's eating for weight loss or even maintenance cannot have breakfast, snacks, big lunch, dinner with dessert and wine.

We talked a while ago about mindfulness and urge surfing and I do that a lot. I recognise that I feel hungry but I know that I will be eating dinner in a couple of hours and I can wait until then. I also have realised that I used to eat as a response to anxiety, and I really try hard to not do that now. Again I acknowledge that I feel anxious and want to eat but I don't do it.

I say no to a lot of food that is offered.

I eat a lot of prepackaged foods for lunch because I find it easier and it has the calorie count labeled. Obviously you can work out the calories in whatever you make at home but I am rushed and tired and dim so I take the angst out of the equation and buy lunch from Marks and Spencer.

I am trying to think what else...

IMustEatMoreVeg · 05/11/2015 14:19

I weigh bloody everything, every time.

I weigh myself Every Single Day.

I haven't done any exercise above walking, really. I haven't felt well enough to be honest.

I haven't shied away from artificial sweeteners . I have a sweet tooth and I figure they are not ideal but if it helps me get to my goal weight I can reassess things when I get there.

Not2bObvious · 05/11/2015 14:20

Thanks for going through your changes, all makes sense. I'm on day 4 of good behaviour, lots of urge surfing and waiting for mealtimes. Scales went up 1 pound yesterday and that was due to blockages Blush Back to 12.3.8 today, going by previous weeks I may see a drop tomorrow. I don't feel too bad having no choc/crisps/wine - I'd like to last another day, but I've company for dinner tonight and it can be hard. Oh well I suppose I can do the whole choose my hard thinking! Starving now, won't have lunch for another 40 mins, between collecting kids and food shopping. It won't kill me Wink

Emz449 · 05/11/2015 18:43

Hi guys, i'm still here and not doing well to be honest! Being ill and generally unmotivated hasn't bode well. I will be back in full force though on Sunday after my friends stay, i promise!

Congratulations to those who are losing Flowers

Hi Emz sometimes you just need a break to help you get back on track, don't beat yourself up, just accept you're off plan until Sunday.
Just had a gorgeous and enormous jacket potato for dinner, with half a tin of spicy beans, 25g of cheddar and 10g of butter. Whole thing was 554 calories and it was bloody marvellous!Grin
Had a kettle bell training session tonight with my new personal trainer, think I'm going to hurt tomorrow!

Emz449 · 05/11/2015 20:53

Thanks Jonty, I have been a bit ridiculous so I'm expecting a mammoth gain when I weight on Sunday, feel very bloated and pretty down tbh. Tomorrow will be tricky with going out and drinking in the evening but will try some damage limitation during the day and Saturday before Sunday which will be the first day of the vlcd! I have been avoiding the scales but I do want an accurate first reading for when I start.

Hope you're not too achey tomorrow, kettlebells always gets me, especially the legs!

Loungingbutnotforlong · 05/11/2015 20:57

Hi Emz, don't worry- it is a marathon, not a sprint. I have been the same this week- full of cold and eating cr*p! Also away for the weekend- let's just re-start Monday (and we will)- you have super motivation. (Inwardly I am hoping this is not a downhill slope- but it is not) see you all on the wagon on Monday Smile

Emz449 · 05/11/2015 21:33

We can definitely do it Lounging! I'm in a way glad that my sister and friends are only here for one night otherwise the whole weekend will be a write off!

OP posts:
JontyDoggle37 · 06/11/2015 06:22

Woohoo! Another 1lb loss, now at 10.9.5!! So that's my target for this week, now I need to not gain it back over the weekend, so I can focus on losing the next 2lbs next week! I feel a bit like I've been hit by a bus after kettle bells last night, and I've got a 3 mile run on the cards this morning...might be more of a hobble at this rate!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 06/11/2015 07:22

Wow Jonty you are on a roll now! Well done. You must be looking great with so much exercise too.

Bathsheba3 · 06/11/2015 09:52

Huge congrats Imust and Jonty - AMAZING !! And very well deserved too

Not2bObvious · 06/11/2015 11:08

Well done Jonty, it is indeed a happy Friday! I'm down 2.4 from Monday to 12.1.8 and I'm thrilled. Holiday weight and hopefully my binge week of last week put behind me. Did a 3 mile jog this morning and avoided wine last night. Had 4 days of no eating after dinner and its showed on the scales.
Emz you've done so great, you have to have a life as well. You know enough now not to lose the plot while you have visitors. Pls pls pls relax and enjoy. I have to be honest I am a tiny bit concerned that you are going to go vlcd, I know it's your choice but it's not like you're hugely overweight. I hope I'm not offending you but don't let the scales rule your life (total hypocrite and terrified I'm upsetting you or othersFlowers)

Emz449 · 06/11/2015 14:07

Well done Jonty and you too Not2, not too long until the next stone barrier now!

Please don't be concerned Not2, you haven't offended or upset me so please don't worry about that Flowers I think I just wanted to do it because I was so set on reaching a particular weight by my holiday and I can't see how I would reach it with my weight plateauing at a certain weight for a while. I think of few weeks on a strict plan will be good for me and the results that it'll hopefully have. The truth is I have lost the plot this week, part frustration and part thinking f* it because it's been annoying me so much! Please don't be worried though, after I've finished this plan and i'll be off on holiday and my boyfriend isn't one to put up with any nonsense!

I've got my friends arriving shortly and off to TGI's for dinner later along with a few drinks so looking forward to that.

I hope everyone has a good weekend, i'll be checking in on Sunday which my weigh in, eep!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 06/11/2015 17:39

Emz I really understand your need to just do something for a couple of weeks to get a good drop and you back on track before your holiday. You in particular have been doing this a long time and I think it gets disheartening when one is slogging on without results. Much better, I think, to drop a bit of weight ASAP to give yourself a boost and then you will have renewed enthusiasm and commitment to the diet. You do not have far to go to goal and I hope you do really well on slim and save and get there soon. xx

IMustEatMoreVeg · 07/11/2015 07:41

I AM IN THE 10S!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10st 13lb and three quarters this morning. I can't remember being 10st anything ever. I didn't understand the number on the scale for a second - it didn't register as my weight for a moment Grin

Not2 - you are also on a roll! Do you find that you can make better choices eg wine and picking after dinner when you are losing?

Lounging - see you here on Monday ready to DO THIS!

Not2bObvious · 07/11/2015 08:08

Hurrah!!! That's fab Imust, you should reward yourself with something today, not a big cream cake thoughGrin Was I good last night after my loss...well I wasn't THAT bad. I hit around 2200 on mfp, so today I'm back to good behaviour. May or may not have a glass of wine tonight. I'm thinking it's as easy to have none as have 1.
Emz thanks for not hating meGrin We're such a nice supportive group, it's so nice to be on a thread where people aren't arguing that I didn't like to bring negativity into it. If you're happy I'm happy. Did you have a great night out (was it last night? Are you even home yet Wink)

JontyDoggle37 · 07/11/2015 10:17

Imust WELL DONE!!!!
We had takeaway last night and according to scales I've gotten be up by 1.5lb!! I didn't even eat that much weight lol! It will come off again ina. Day or two though so not worried.

IMustEatMoreVeg · 07/11/2015 10:43

Jonty I think it is water retention after eating something salty like take away.

Not2 I treated myself yesterday to 2 new bras. They can be my non food reward!

Emz449 · 07/11/2015 13:03

Well done Imust!!

I'm currently very hungover ??

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 07/11/2015 15:06

I hope your hangover isn't in the same class as mine last Saturday, took me til Tuesday to recover Sad Rest, hydrate, rinse and repeat. If you can avoid eating rings around yourself, all the better. My experience is it doesn't work and you end up with indigestion. I'm really tired today after a long week at work but I'm planning on staying as busy as possible so I make it from lunch (cheese spread/tomato sambo & 2 choc digestives) to dinner (roast chicken and veg) without snacking.
Bra's are a good reward imust, a necessity but also something nice for you. I was going to treat myself to new music for running but I think I need another couple of pounds down before it truly earned it, when I get under 12 maybe (for the 50th millionth time!!!) I think I'll buy myself something MASSIVE when I get under 11 stone

Not2bObvious · 07/11/2015 15:15

Definately salt/physical food in your system jonty, Definately be gone in a day or 2. I think I'm going to try (again) to just weigh in once a week, well for this week coming at least

Emz449 · 07/11/2015 17:47

It's actually not all too bad really Not2 which is a blessing! I had a 20 minute power nap and have woken up revitalised, hurrah! My sister on the other hand was a different story Grin

I'm so excited to start tomorrow now, have got all my social events out of the way. I'll post my weigh in results if people don't mind? Obviously it won't be a MFP loss but it does help me stay on track posting here

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 08/11/2015 07:35

Glad to hear the hangover wasn't too bad emz Despite my good intentions I ended up having drinks last night but nothing hectic. I'm on the dry now until next Friday, 2 days with drinks as opposed to 4 (or 5Blush but only occasionally) should help the cause. I would like to hear how you get on with the vlcd, it's still calorie counting isn't it so why not. I'm interested to know how manageable it is with day to day life. How long are you planning on doing it emz? What's the routine? Shake for brekkie & lunch and normal dinner like the old slim fast ad?
Off to plug in yesterday's figures into mfp. I don't think I'm that far over 1500, amyone else up?
