Yes it's pretty similar to Cambridge in that it's shakes, bars and meal packs, will be averaging 500-600 calories a day and under 50g of carbs a day. Yeah I think I need to do something that will shake things up, there has been the odd day recently where I have just been a bit meh with dieting and logging on myfitnesspal, I still do it of course but it's been more of a chore. I will 100% be using it again once I've finished with this other diet.

Today has been another fail to be honest, my mind just hasn't been in the game. But tomorrow is a new day and I WILL stick to my plan. Going to be low carbing until Friday evening for damage limitation and see what happens over the weekend, tgi's has been mentioned! I'm looking forward to shakes. Hoping for some good losses! A lady on the group started at a similar weight to me and lost 9lbs in her first week [shocked]

Oh it's called slim and save Smile

Down 0.75 to 10.7 but full of cold and would love to just dive into a bag of minstrels! Have kept it down to 1300 today, but Just about hanging on Smile - ready for a new day as my will power is only going to last so far today!

Loungingbutnotforlong · 03/11/2015 18:49

Emz do you think you are 'struggling' because you are nearer goal? When i have dieted previously I found a massive fall off in motivation when I got to within 7-10 lbs of where I wanted to be. Really hoping that does not happen this time round. Might need to start an exercise challenge.
Out of interest has anyone done the beach body challenges? I would so love to be fit (and the weight loss on the TV ads is very inspiring).

Harverina · 03/11/2015 19:09

Hello do you mind if I join too please?

Started MFP 3 weeks ago but haven't weighed myself yet as my wii fit is broken!

I've taken weekends "off" so far because I have had a weekend away and other things that are food orientated.

So far despite me not knowing how the scales are looking, I feel like my face looks and feels thinner and my jeans feel more comfortable - I was at the stage where I felt bloated and huge and I already feel better. I probably have around 4 stones to lose. So a long way to go!

I am on 1250 calories which I have found ok. I like that I can have certain things I fancy within reason - previously I have always done weight watchers filling and healthy and it restricted what i could eat. I think I cope with the low amount of calories on MFP because I don't feel deprived. If I want cheesy wotsits at 90cals I can have them. If I want a steak I can have it. I just need to plan. I now see that eating huge quantities of "free" food on ww was doing nothing to help my unhealthy relationship with food.

So I am at the start of a long journey. Thankfully I don't have anything food orientated over the next few weekends so I feel confident that I can go 7 days on the plan this week.

Is it possible to have takeaway and do MFP?

IMustEatMoreVeg · 03/11/2015 19:22

You are very welcome Harverina. I was the same before mfp - eating huge quantities if allowed foods without realising that I need to train my body to eat less. Like you I love that any food is doable but as you say it needs planning! I would say takeaway is doable but you might need to make wise choices, be prepared to control your portion and take a good look at what else you eat that day.

Emz449 · 03/11/2015 19:26

Well done Lounging

Yes i think so, which is what has happened in the past especially when i roughly get to this weight, so I'm taking action now so that i can get to the weight i want and then after my holiday use MFP to maintain.

I'm not going to weight myself until Friday due to the last couple of days, it won't do me any favours seeing the scales go up again so a few days on course will set me straight

Welcome Harverina, i definitely think it's possible to have takeaways on MFP you just have to plan for it and maybe earn some exercise calories to make up for it. Good luck

Hi everyone, I'm a relative newcomer to MFP and longtime lurker of MN, having some success at losing 25lbs so far, but many more to go.

Have friended some of you but lots of name changes since the hack. Feel free to add me on MFP (same user name).
Ta!

MrsDLH · 03/11/2015 19:54

Well done lounging and get well soon. I always want to eat more when I have a cold.

Welcome Harverina! I had moderate success with ww in the past, before the days of pro points or whatever they call it but could never get my head around sw. Loads of people I know, swear by it but Im missing the 'youre full, stop eating' switch so need hard facts! I often have a takeaway on a Saturday, my day off. I eat 1200 most days, a couple of days of 1000 now as well, to compensate. And I exercise.

Emz if i lived alone, id do that vlcd, seems very reasonable. Youre a very motivated person so I think this will work you

Bathsheba3 · 03/11/2015 19:58

Just checking-in . Have been cooking ALL DAY as I am entertaining for the 1st time in 9 months tomorrow. Has totally put me off eating Hmm.
Brownies in the oven right now. Had 1 square dark chocolate and that was enough. have I possibly turned the corner again re eating?

Emz449 · 03/11/2015 20:37

Good luck for tomorrow Bath! Sounds like you've had a busy day.

It was actually quite reasonable MrsDLH 60 for two weeks inc delivery. Obviously more then I would spend on actual food but I think for the results you can get its worth it. I hope I get those results! From reading, the first few days will be tough but after a while I shouldn't feel hungry.

I'm starting to feel a bit coldy myself actually, my nose feels quite bunged up and sore along with my throat. Bit sneezy too! Tis the season!

Harverina · 03/11/2015 20:53

I've had a sickness bug today so have completed my diary at 0. It doesn't feel good as I have had an awful day! Starting to feel better now after 12 hours of constant sickness.

I am also just getting over a cold and cough. It makes healthy eating so much harder. I define felt craved more carbs and more sugar while I was unwell.

MajesticWhine · 03/11/2015 21:41

I've just got over a cough and cold too. Agree it doesn't help - makes you want to look after yourself with comfort food.

JontyDoggle37 · 03/11/2015 22:16

Hello to newcomers.
Quick sleepy post to say finishing the day on 1,191 calories, plus burnt 102 calories exercising, so a good 'low' day for me. Hopefully tomorrows scales will show today's gain has disappeared! 3 mile run in the morning, and aiming for an under 1200 day again tomorrow, to make up for the weekend's excesses...

JontyDoggle37 · 04/11/2015 08:29

Me again! Gain gone as hoped, so back down to 10.11.5, and 3 mile run complete. Planning on under 1200 today, all meals planned so good to go. I'm going to lose that 2lbs this week!

Bathsheba3 · 04/11/2015 08:44

Well done Jonty, on loss and the run! And to tick-off by 8.30 am. I couldn't resist eating the edges from round the brownies last night. But have managed a loss today too. I won't report as my weight goes up and down daily. Will report tomorrow if it stays down!

MrsDLH · 04/11/2015 09:23

Well done jonty and bath on your losses...recorded or not, still good! And an early morning run...wish I was that motivated, although I must burn calories with the stress of the school run!

I was 11 st 1 today...whoop! So happy to be losing again instead of yo yoing. I can smell the 10s!!

Happy Wednesday all!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 04/11/2015 09:34

This morning I am 11st exactly. This was my goal weight and it has taken me 107 days to lose 2st 8lb.

I think for my final goal weight I would like to lose one more stone to make me 10st but I promise this last bit is a bonus and I will not be impatient.

JontyDoggle37 · 04/11/2015 12:43

Well done Bath, MrsDLH and especially IMust for hitting goal!!!!!!
And cool that you now have a new goal of ten stone. Smile
My secret plan is to get to 10 and then lose another 3-4 pounds for insurance!

Not2bObvious · 04/11/2015 18:57

Wow imust, 36 pound in 107 days, that's over 3lb a week on average! If you had to summarise the changes you made to achieve this, I'd really appreciate it, and I'm sure it would be really encouraging for us all. Interesting that now your hit your goal you're hoping to drop another stone. That's really common in the weightloss stories I read in slimming magazines. I guess we never really think we'll hit our realistic goal and when we do, it opens the possibility of achieving more!
Delighted to hear the scales is back to good jonty, did a 3 mile run and I'm now crippled with leg/foot cramps added to sore calves from yesterday's morning class. Exercise is meant to be good for you right Hmm

Loungingbutnotforlong · 04/11/2015 19:31

Wow- congrats I must! That is brilliant. Did you find you powered towards the end or did it slow down?

Well done bath and Mrs DLH and jonty!
Feeling better today and more on track- will power cracked last night and it was marmalade and toast all round. Argh! Toast is my downfall and always bumps me up the scale (by more than the toast actually weighed in the first place!)

JontyDoggle37 · 04/11/2015 20:04

Not2b your leg/foot pains suggest you are not stretching properly after exercise and/or your trainers don't fit or aren't tightened up enough on the laces....

Not2bObvious · 04/11/2015 20:10

Thanks jonty, runners are fine but stretching might be the issue. Or I think it's hydration/ tiredness an issue too. Apart from the odd time after running, I also suffer dreadfully from them with no runs - wake regularly with horrific cramps in the front of my foot, toes, sole, calf. They are the bane of my life and I have asked the doc is there anything that might help. Tonic water was the only suggestion. Chocolate teapot

Loungingbutnotforlong · 04/11/2015 20:22

Not2- I think I read once that cramps can be due to a lack of potassium- maybe eat a banana every other day? I feel for you- waking with a calf cramp is singularly painful!

JontyDoggle37 · 04/11/2015 20:52

General cramps are caused by low sodium, magnesium or indeed potassium in your body. I'd suggest supplements or seriously beefing up your menus to include lots of sources of these.
