Officially my heaviest and time to change. Anyone with me?

Hi all,

Well, having just returned from a gorgeous week's holiday, I decided to take the plunge and step onto the scales. Bloody hell.

I'm officially the heaviest I've ever been. I look awful. And I'm desperate to change. I've spent the last few days reading threads on here that I think will inspire me and I'm determined to make a change.

I have a number of milestones to get to, including a holiday in October, but the big one in my head is going to see the GP in a few weeks' time for a repeat prescription for my contraceptive pill. Last year, she made some reference about my weight as they may not have been allowed to prescribe it, given my high BMI. She did, and prescribed me a year's worth, and they're nearly gone. Have I lost weight? Have I heck - I'm actually heavier, and I can't bear the idea of going back and having the same utterly humiliating conversation.

So, I'm just debating the best approach. I know low/no carbs works really well for me, though I can struggle to stick with it, but that's what I'm going for initially.

This morning I weighed in at 15st 11, and I'm just 5ft 4. I'm a size 18. This cannot be who I am. I am not the woman who looks back at me in the mirror.

My mission is to shift, ideally, around 3st initially. I know that I look and feel great at 12st something, and even though I'll be far from a size 10 skinny minnie, I will feel fantastic. Then, when I get to that point, we'll see.

However, when there's such a long road ahead, I know I get easily defeated. So, does anyone fancy a hand to hold along a similar path? I'm happy to give tonnes of support and will cheer folk on, anyone fancy returning the favour?

He's a chunk! He's in 3-6 month clothes. His newborn stuff didn't fit him! Shock

Hi Daffodils, welcome Smile i did MFP before DD and it worked really well, for some reason though after DD every time I tried it I seemed to fail Sad I kept my calories realistic so I wouldn't be starving yet still at bedtime I was ravenous! I think it was because being pregnant and then for months after I had gotten used to just eating so much food! Literally chocolate and ice cream every night and carbs forming the bulk of every meal! I hope it goes well for you, it is an eye opener to actually see what you consume every day and realise what foods are actually loaded with calories that you don't think would be.

Hope everyone is in a good place! Weighed in a day early today because I have an early start tomorrow and would most likely forget. 3lbs off thankfully Grin after gaining 2lbs last week I'm grateful that I'm still on track and averaging 1lb a week. I'm just keeping in mind that I'm only 3lbs away from my goal (and my new lipstick!) AND my friend at work said I looked like I had lost weight-I could have kissed her I was so happy.

That's fantastic Letme, your doing really well.
I had an exciting phone call on Friday, I am officially heavy enough (never thought that would be useful) to receive some free support from a local scheme via the gp, they are giving me a 12 week pass to slimming world and a 12 week pass to my local gym and swim, plus if I lose a certain percent of my body weight (can't remember how much) I get a further 12 weeks of both for free as well. Hopefully this will give me the kick up the backside I need

Thanks Rose, I think this has been my "lightbulb moment". Plus it helps that I no longer feel hungry all the time and don't crave sweet stuff every night!

Have you ever done SW before? I tried it and lost weight quite successfully until my crap willpower eventually gave in! I would love a gym membership, save the embarrassment of jogging outside! I just couldn't afford it, and no doubt if I did get a membership I'd never go. I find it tough enough motivating myself to do the 30 minute walk to work!

I think if you do go regularly to the gym it will motivate you to stay on track with the healthy eating. Spending your precious time exercising whilst still eating too much and/or the wrong foods would be a bit of a waste.

It's definitely great motivation for you Smile

Hi guys. How are we all?
I'm not so good. Ordered some clothes from the catalogue. Size 16. They don't fit Sad the only other size 16 that don't fit are primark. Ive had to order size 18. I'm not sending them back though, I will just have to slim into them. I've no idea about my weight at the minute. I've been feeling really down lately. Im petrified DP is going to leave me. He's assured me he's not but the thing is, we live apart, and when I see him its all about the DCs (which is understandable) but we never get any time for us so I just feel crappy Sad
Sorry to be such a miserable cow

EnglishRose1320 · 18/10/2015 18:02

Sorry to hear you are feeling miserable Fatty, must be tough not living together, my oh does live with me but is away for work for 4 weeks at a time, he's back atm and his bloody phone is getting more attention than me! I had an interview for a job I really wanted and didn't get it so have been massively comfort eating this week. Start slimming world on wed and gym induction the week after, hopefully something will click and I can actually contemplate size16 clothing again!

FattyNinjaOwl · 18/10/2015 19:23

It must be tough for you with your DH being away.
I've become so insecure over the past couple of years. But things can only get better. It's a new week tomorrow. Fresh start. I hope the sw and gym at least kick start things for you.

Letmegetanamechange · 18/10/2015 19:57

Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time Ninja. I am crap at any useful suggestions so I shall send you some Wine and cake Cake

I'm sorry you didn't get the job Rose Sad that sucks! There's nothing like a rejection to make you feel awful! But good luck with slimming world, and the gym! I'd love to go to the gym but finances aren't great so it's a luxury. Plus I can't even motivate myself to go out for a short jog so fear it would be money wasted!

I've had a horrible stomach bug the past 4 days so I've thrown up what little I've eaten. Great for losing 5lbs in a week but rubbish for my energy levels! Just started to get my appetite back today but sticking to small, light meals because I'm still a bit quesy.

Can you remember the jacket I told you about Rose? The peacocks one? Well I went to try it on in a size 16 and it fit! I do think it's probably down to Peacocks dodgy sizes (tried a size 18 top on at the same time that wouldn't fit on the arms at all) so I think next week I'm going to get it in the 14 and slim into it! A dangerous strategy but I've come so far so feel like I can't turn back now. Plus I've had a couple of comments from people who have noticed I've lost weight, it made me feel really good about myself (for once!) so I'm excited to make more of an effort with my wardrobe and appearance Smile

Sending positive (non-sicky) vibes to all Grin
