Officially my heaviest and time to change. Anyone with me?

Hi all,

Well, having just returned from a gorgeous week's holiday, I decided to take the plunge and step onto the scales. Bloody hell.

I'm officially the heaviest I've ever been. I look awful. And I'm desperate to change. I've spent the last few days reading threads on here that I think will inspire me and I'm determined to make a change.

I have a number of milestones to get to, including a holiday in October, but the big one in my head is going to see the GP in a few weeks' time for a repeat prescription for my contraceptive pill. Last year, she made some reference about my weight as they may not have been allowed to prescribe it, given my high BMI. She did, and prescribed me a year's worth, and they're nearly gone. Have I lost weight? Have I heck - I'm actually heavier, and I can't bear the idea of going back and having the same utterly humiliating conversation.

So, I'm just debating the best approach. I know low/no carbs works really well for me, though I can struggle to stick with it, but that's what I'm going for initially.

This morning I weighed in at 15st 11, and I'm just 5ft 4. I'm a size 18. This cannot be who I am. I am not the woman who looks back at me in the mirror.

My mission is to shift, ideally, around 3st initially. I know that I look and feel great at 12st something, and even though I'll be far from a size 10 skinny minnie, I will feel fantastic. Then, when I get to that point, we'll see.

However, when there's such a long road ahead, I know I get easily defeated. So, does anyone fancy a hand to hold along a similar path? I'm happy to give tonnes of support and will cheer folk on, anyone fancy returning the favour?

Hahah lrb I've done that before when I've posted on a different username forgetting I had name changed!

I forced myself to drink 3 litres of water yesterday peed like mad but like you it doesn't come naturally. I wish coffee counted towards water intake because I'd have no problem doing that!

Had good intentions to drink my 3 litres throughout the day but I have only managed one Sad

I made cauliflower base pizza for the first time tonight. It was quite nice but a bit soggy, you couldn't pick it up like a normal pizza. However all the cheese has me absolutely stuffed. I'm sure that will last until 5 minutes into GBBO as that always makes me hungry. I have a punnet of raspberries and some cream for a treat tonight so looking forward to that Smile

Lamby80 · 01/10/2015 17:58

Hi Ninja. Did you find mfp hard? Would you mind telling me how any calories you stick to? I tried 1400 but actually find i get so hungry! I think when I get back from my holiday I will try that again, with a bit more will power! Any great low calorie meal ideas welcome.

FattyNinjaOwl · 01/10/2015 18:26

I'm meant to stick to 1330 to get to my goal....I don't Blush
My meals are all quite high calorie, but that's because I only eat one meal a day.
Snacking is my downfall . . .
And fizzy drinks.

FattyNinjaOwl · 02/10/2015 21:59

Blush why did I go to krispy kreme?

Letmegetanamechange · 02/10/2015 22:42

Ninja tell us what doughnut you had! I want to live vicariously through you Grin

Sugar has been gradually sneaking back into my diet so I need to crack down on that! I just miss the taste of "sweetness". Can't really have much fruit either, as fruit is quite carry Sad

I want to scoff the tub of Ben and Jerry's DP has tucked away in the freezer...

I had a chocolate dreamcake

Blush
What Ben and Jerry's is it? I live Ben and Jerry's...

Letmegetanamechange · 03/10/2015 14:36

It was one of those new flavours, chocolate and nut I think. I didn't hang around to gaze lovingly at it like I usually would, instead I slammed the freezer shut and told DP "it's not FAIR!"

Yes I am a child Blush

FattyNinjaOwl · 03/10/2015 17:24

I've gone completely off the wagon and ordered dominos for tea tonight Blush I will start again in the morning promise!

My fave Ben and Jerry's is caramel chew chew. I have a quarter of a tub in the freezer, but I've been really good and resisted so far! I was saving it for when I got down to 14 st, then I could have it as my treat. Blush
I'm not going to get to that if I keep slipping though!

kawla · 04/10/2015 08:03

I'm 76 kilos after having my first baby ! i was 65 before that and I'm 5'7. i really need support because I'm getting depressed about my weight and have no confidence.

FattyNinjaOwl · 04/10/2015 13:22

Hi kawla I wish I was your weight! (That's not to say you shouldnt feel the way you do, as obviously we all are different weights and have different goals!) But we are here to chat. What is your goal? How old is your baby?

EnglishRose1320 · 04/10/2015 13:38

Only just spotted this thread, can I join please, desperately need help with weight lose. I'm 5ft5 and at my heaviest, a couple of months ago I was 14st 4, managed to lose 6lbs in 3 weeks then I had a wedding to go to and a week of being stuck at home with an ill child and now I am terrified of stepping back on the scales, I am fairly sure I have put the 6lbs back on so need to start a fresh and find a realistic diet I can stick to with the ups and downs of life and not just on the usual routine days (which in all honesty are a rarity in this house!)

FattyNinjaOwl · 04/10/2015 14:14

Hi English
Of course. Everyone is welcome here. What's your goal?

EnglishRose1320 · 04/10/2015 14:33

Rough goal is to loose at stone by Christmas and then a further 2 stone by my birthday which isn't until next May. Ideally this time next year I would like to be at my goal weight of losing 4 stone. I use to always set really high aims so trying to spread it out and be a bit more realistic this time. Atm I am Using MPF and trying to stick to 1500 calories a day which isn't too bad on a good day! Just those on your own kids acting up feel crap kind of days when chocolate is the answer days seem to be taking over again.

FattyNinjaOwl · 04/10/2015 14:35

I know that feeling, I've been having those lately, then just to top it off I've got earache so I'm feeling sorry for myself today

EnglishRose1320 · 04/10/2015 14:40

Ouch sorry to hear you've got earache, I always think for quite a small part of our body ears can cause a surprising amount of pain, I hate ear ache! Off to do the weekly shop now and must not give in and buy snacks.

FattyNinjaOwl · 04/10/2015 14:42

Buy fruit instead if you have a sweet tooth. It's natural sugar and one of your 5 a day Wink

EnglishRose1320 · 04/10/2015 14:48

Yes I think I might treat myself to some raspberries if they still have some nice ones in the shops. And maybe some popping corn, I find homemade popcorn isn't too bad.

EnglishRose1320 · 04/10/2015 17:15

I managed a snack free shop apart from one Mars duo which I ate in the car park whilst waiting for my ds to finish having his meltdown and it was that or join in and have a melt down as well! Cooking a Quorn based dinner tonight, which I will enjoy and most importantly will fill me up without using too many calories

FattyNinjaOwl · 04/10/2015 17:25

Haha, I've thrown a tantrum in the middle of a shop before now. (DS1 was throwing one so I joined him)

I had 3 Jaffa cakes. Jaffa cakes are good. I really need to diet properly though as I struggle to exercise with my hips.

EnglishRose1320 · 04/10/2015 17:46

Same here, I lose weight best when I can combine a healthy diet and exercise but atm my physio doesn't want me to exercise until my knees are less swollen, frustrating isn't it! I wish I had your confidence to join in with the tantrums I am normally looking for the closest hole to jump into.

FattyNinjaOwl · 04/10/2015 17:58

I think it helps that I'm a big kid anyway.
I see other parents who's children are tantrumming and I sometimes want to go over and join in with their kids too, just to embarrass the child into behaving as I know how tough it is, but I know then I would just be drawing unwanted attention to the poor parents!

What's the problem with your knees if you don't mind sharing?
I had severe SPD so I'm still recovering. (Had it with DD who is nearly 2, got discharged from physio when she was 10 months, only to discover I was pregnant again with my now 9 week old) I was on crutches and still have to use them sometimes now. By the end of my pregnancy I couldn't move at all without help. It was hell. So even though I'm a lot bigger than I'd like, I appreciate the little things like being able to "run" wobble through the pigeons with my DD, or playing football in the garden.

EnglishRose1320 · 04/10/2015 18:42

Nothing specific have just always suffered with back and joint problems, currently my knee cap has completely seized up. Glad to hear you are recovering from SPD, albeit it slowly, I've heard that it is incredibly painful. I would love it if someone got down and screamed with my son, I might be tempted to sneak of and leave them to it though!

Letmegetanamechange · 04/10/2015 20:35

Fatty I didn't know you had 2 under 2! Don't beat yourself up about the snacks, whatever it takes to get through the day Smile I need to find something for tea and then make my pack lunch for tomorrow but I'm just too lazy! Sad

Weigh in day is tomorrow and tbh it will be a miracle if I've lost anything.

Hi Rose [waves]
I've used MFP before and it worked for me if I set realistic calorie goals, sounds like you've got it sorted Smile

I have similar goals too, trying to cut it into half a stone goals. I'm thinking when I get to the next half stone I may treat myself to a lovely jacket I saw in Peacocks the other day. Although I'd be so tempted to get it in the next size down and try and slim into it. Not sure if this is setting myself up for disappointment though!

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend Smile

EnglishRose1320 · 04/10/2015 21:36

Hi Letme, I'm always tempted to get a size down when treating myself to new clothes, I have decided this to to reward myself with non clothes treats like scarfs and new nail varnish and when my clothes are significantly baggy to get a few nice new bits and really enjoy shopping for the first time in ages, the aim is for that shopping trip to be just before my birthday if I stick to the diet!

Fatty having read back a bit further I am amazed at how well you are doing with 2 under 2, mine are 10 and 5 and dieting still feels like a massive hurdle
