Hello Smile
I've recently lost over 30lbs but I still need to lose another 30ish. Anyone want to join in for some support/motivation? I'm thinking weekly Monday morning weigh ins starting tomorrow (Not compulsory).
I'm going to do healthy food at about 1000-1200 calls a day. I may also add in some fast days too.
All diet types and weights welcome Smile

Well done lorelei, arti , rooster and lizard!!!!

I have been using MFP to keep myself really strict and stuck to not going over 1200 cals.

I didn't get to see the Crush as I had to cover a colleagues class at short notice but I bet he would have been impressed Wink

A colleague did say to me today they thought I had lost weight, so I said "Really?" and they said "yes, in your face."

In my face!!!! I am fifty years old, the last place I want to lose weight from is my face!!! Not looking six months pregnant is what I am aiming for Blush

I haven't been exercising, but what I have done, and yes, I know it's frowned upon, but I have been skipping breakfast. I get up at half past six and eat brekkie then. By half past ten I am starving and ready for what hobbits call "second breakfast." Then by 11.45 I am thinking, "Is it lunchtime yet?" I find if I skip breakfast I don't really get hungry until 1ish. I don't understand this but it is working and I will eat if I feel faint so it's all good.

Let's all have a great week everyone!!

RoosterCogburn · 16/11/2015 20:32

All sounds good Mintoil, if it works for you why not?

I have to eat breakfast or I get a headache.

At the moment I'm having porridge and fruit for breakfast, a green smoothie for lunch and then a normal meal in the evening.

With my evening meal I am trying to make sure I eat more veg then anything else - luckily I love vegetables so its no hardship for me. I'm also trying to eat smaller portions - I'd got into the habit of overcooking and then eating huge amounts at each meal.

MamaLizard · 18/11/2015 02:54

Oh yes, rooster. The over cooking and over eating is one of my many pitfalls!!

I have to say I love your plan best of all. It seems organised, simple, effective and super healthy. I'm such a disorganised scatterbrain shopper and eater and I aim to improve.

I just end up scrabbling around wondering what I can buy/eat that is 'clean' or low calorie and then totally fail to stop snacking all day.

Porridge tomorrow it will be!

MamaLizard · 18/11/2015 04:42

Actually, rooster (or anyone) can you give me some good ideas for preparing veg for dinner? What do you buy typically, what are some top combinations, how do you prepare (steam, roast, stir-fry)? I'm a bit lacking in veg imagination!

Tonight I have spinach and lentil soup, which is nice and hearty! Smile

Did you want some advice Mama Grin

I have to admit that during the week I buy a lot of ready prepped veg - spinach, kale, spring greens and then just zap the bag in the microwave.
I also use a lot of frozen veg - broad beans are my favourite.

I know that buying fresh would be better but the reality is that using preprepared and frozen I don't waste it.

lorelei9 · 19/11/2015 08:44

I don't like kale...I wish I did as I gather it's good for you....

RoosterCogburn · 19/11/2015 19:50

I love veg! Although I prefer it dripping in butter, but I'm being good.

What sort of things are people eating?

I had porridge for breakfast
A green smoothie for lunch
Chicken with potatoes and peas for tea

I also ate a nakd cashew bar.

mintoil · 19/11/2015 20:31

Well I have been skipping breakfast as already mentioned.

Today I was teaching all day with just a 20 minute break so I had a pack of Belvita biscuits and a cup a soup at work.

Tonight I had baked cod drizzled with a bit of olive oil and salad, along with a handful of oven chips Grin

Also had a Becks Blue, a kit kat, and about 6 cups of tea.

And loads of diet coke.

According to MFP I have had 961 calories.

MamaLizard · 20/11/2015 06:28

Omg!! I can't believe that posted three times! Whoops! I guess The app sensed my desperation!!! ConfusedThank you dear rooster for the advice. :)

Today I had porridge and mango; a protein smoothie; and then chickpea and leek soup, plus homemade avocado turkey burgers with salad...

StopLaughingDrRoss · 20/11/2015 13:04

Some great losses this week, ladies! I also had a good one, with 3lbs gone so:

Week 5: 185lbs

I was pretty strict last week (have two low calories days, aiming for about 800 calories and then no more than 1,450 the other days) but didn't exercise much which is where I really see a difference.

I'm not a huge veggie fan and my DC can be a bit funny but we eat a lot of typically British bits which are filling so broccoli, carrots, green beans (my favourites!) and the like. Normally boiled but I do like a stir fry too! Not veggies obviously but I've found that Quorn is great as it's filling but extremely low calorie.

It's coming into the festive season now and I've got too many nights out and occasions (too many for my tummy, I'm really looking forward to them!)

I easily took old nail varnish off my toes last night - a small thing but made me Smile

Have a good week one and all!

StopLaughingDrRoss · 20/11/2015 13:05

Oh, and Mintoil - that cod dish sounded scrumptious!!

have reported stupid spam post

StopLaughing - well done.

I must confess I have really struggled yesterday and today on account of it being blooming freezing. I know I didn't stick in my cals yesterday, I didn't exercise yesterday (did today) and am nearly at my cals and it's not even 5pm. I do eat a smaller dinner though so hopefully won't be too much over (if at all, it can be hard to work out with home cooked food). I wouldn't normally try and do anything other than exist in winter so this is a challenge....! Well, I do normally exercise but I just felt too pants yesterday to do it but that is unusual for me.

mintoil · 20/11/2015 17:17

The cod dish was lovely - I seem to forget how much I like fish if that makes sense?

Anyway, I weighed myself this morning, which was too early in the week really, and was very upset to see no weight loss.

I have been on or under 1200 calories a day according to mfp, and I am very truthful with it.

I will just have to hope I do a huge poop and lose some over the weekend!!

lorelei9 · 20/11/2015 17:22

mintoil, if that was a sneaky way to try and put me off my food - well done!

mintoil · 20/11/2015 17:27

Sorry Blush No more bodily function talk!!!

lorelei9 · 20/11/2015 17:27

it's okay, I think it worked....! I mean, put me off my food!!! Grin

mintoil · 20/11/2015 18:13

Glad to have been of service then Grin

RoosterCogburn · 22/11/2015 22:23

Not sure I am going to lose weight this week - I went out for a meal at the weekend and ate a shocking amount of calories!

To make up for it I did take the dog out for an extra walk today! I've also planned and prepared meals for the next four days meaning they'll be no temptation to eat rubbish.

Five Mondays until Christmas so if I could average 1lb a week I would be down to 151b - although thats probably being overambitious as it seems to have taken me seven weeks to lose my last 4lb Blush so perhaps I should aim for -2lb by Christmas.

lorelei9 · 22/11/2015 23:02

Rooster, I don't think I will either. Meal out yesterday, stuck with one course but did have to eat some dinner though I'd been hoping to skip it.

Then today I was meant to have a protein shake for one meal but didn't. Really battling the freezing weather now too, gah.

educatingarti · 23/11/2015 09:22

Week 1 157lb
Week 2 156.5lb
Week 3 154lb
Week 4 152.5lb
Week 5 153lb

I'm a bit disappointed but not too surprised as I gave in and ate loads of cake and biscuits this week. Next week WILL be better

educatingarti · 23/11/2015 09:27

I've also has mintoil's er.... problem, so could be a bit lighter when I've managed to shift a bit of weight that way!

lorelei9 · 23/11/2015 10:17

no loss, disappointed. I really do have to diet 7 days a week to lose half a pound so the build up to Xmas will be ...interesting.....

just looked at weather forecast and today is the last day, for a few days, that will be bleeping freezing, which is good news for me anyway.
