Hello Smile
I've recently lost over 30lbs but I still need to lose another 30ish. Anyone want to join in for some support/motivation? I'm thinking weekly Monday morning weigh ins starting tomorrow (Not compulsory).
I'm going to do healthy food at about 1000-1200 calls a day. I may also add in some fast days too.
All diet types and weights welcome Smile

I love my nutribullet!
I've eaten more veg since July then I had during the previous six months

lorelei9 · 19/10/2015 12:22

No loss , grumpy.

StopLaughingDrRoss · 19/10/2015 21:31

I hope you don't mind if I join your thread as it's really motivating and could do with some of that.

I've been trying to lose weight since June and managed to hit my '2 Stone Gone' milestone last week. . Was so happy! However, if I am honest with myself, I am probably only about a third of the way to where my ideal weight is and about halfway to where I'll be lighter than I have been for almost 20 years Blush

I've just been tracking myself on MFP to about 1,450 calories per day with a couple of very low calories days and trying to get two, decent chunks of exercise in per week. I'm a lone parent to two small people and I only have 5 nights a month when they are with their father which restricts exercise outside the home. I love swimming so do that and then a Davina DVD once (or twice if I'm really feeling it) a week.

Very few people on RL are aware as I try not to talk about it too much but it's starting to be noticeable (as you can probably guess from how much I need to lose, whilst two stone is good there's a long way to go).

I'd like to lose another stone by Xmas but not sure how realistic this is. I lost my first stone in 6 weeks but the second took 3 months! But am hoping with this as a place to check in and find support, it is doable!

You are inspiring on here so fingers crossed for us all!

lorelei9 · 19/10/2015 22:01

Well done DrRoss and welcome Smile

You're inspiring me....I so want to lose a stone in six weeks.

I also don't talk to anyone in real life because I've failed a few times and getting embarrassed.

RoosterCogburn · 19/10/2015 22:32

Bad week for me...
Gained weight, however I'm not too worried because in the past week I've eaten out three times and had people over for dinner so my eating hasn't been great. I have however resisted pudding on every occasion and made sure my plate has been piled high with vegetables.

I did drink a few glasses of wine and beer and I'm sure that's why I've put on the weight.

I have another few days of decadence then I shall be back in the straight and narrow.

Starting weight 172.8lb
Week One 167.2lb
Week Two 166.2lb
Week Three 165.2lb
Week Four 164.8lb
Week Five 163.4lb
Week Six 163.8b
Week Seven 162.2lb
Week Eight 162lb
Week Nine 161lb
Week Ten 160lb
Week Eleven 158.8lb
Week twelve 158.8lb
Week Thriteen 160lb

RoosterCogburn · 19/10/2015 22:33

Welcome DrRoss.
I'm another one who doesn't mention it to people I real life.
Mainly because I have a colleague who is on a mission to sabotage any efforts to lose weight.

Also, I don't want to be the work diet bore!

lorelei9 · 20/10/2015 00:07

Rooster, I've got one meal out this week and that's hard enough, three is a mare.

I was actually thinking of becoming an office "feeder" Grin. I have slim colleagues who bring in food they don't eat themselves. I also have a friend who loves baking but never eats the results!

StopLaughingDrRoss · 20/10/2015 11:30

Thanks for the welcome ladies!

I don't get the opportunity to eat out often which is a shame as I really do love food - but then, that's why I am where I am Smile

I will admit that the stone is 6 weeks was when I rigidly stuck to my plan.. then the holidays happened, and camping and friends visiting and all that so had quite a few gains but then knocked them off. It's just hard work I think - if you want to be sensible about it which you all sound like you are.

Delicious doughnuts staring at me over the desk today and must resist! Planning on swimming this evening which normally means I can indulge later as I try to do about 2k in the pool. Have to be motivated though and not feeling it... we're going through big restructure at work and am very much at risk so that doesn't help!

Oh well - I guess I should look at it that I can at least have some control over what goes into my mouth and whatever will be with other things, will be!

Thanks again - am looking forward to having someone to chat to on this as like you both, I don't want to be the diet bore!

lorelei9 · 20/10/2015 11:48

DrRoss "Oh well - I guess I should look at it that I can at least have some control over what goes into my mouth and whatever will be with other things, will be! "

yes, I look at it this way now too. Sorry to hear you're "at risk".

I'm trying to kick start myself this week so protein shake & banana for dinner. Yikes. (I prefer to eat more during the day).

educatingarti · 21/10/2015 08:46

Week 1. 155lb
Week 2. 155.5lb
Week 3. 156lb
You'd think that I'd not been trying!
Birthday on Friday so don't think this week will be brilliant either!

StopLaughingDrRoss · 21/10/2015 18:33

I still have a job - wooo - for the next 6-9 months and then I'm off but means I don't need to worry over Xmas at least Grin

Had a rubbish day yesterday as was shattered so didn't swim, ate the work doughnut AND made gingerbread men for the kids and proceeded to eat 3 Blush Didn't each much else so wasn't dramatically over target but still. ..

Low calorie today but really want a celebratory drink which piles it on really easily... its so hard and I am rubbish around my birthday, Arti but 155lb ish is still not a bad place to be! I've been weighing myself in kilogrammes but even though I've lost quite a bit, I'm still about 190 lbs. ..

Hope you've got nice plans at any rate Flowers

lorelei9 · 21/10/2015 19:11

arti, yes, I had a bday week in the middle of it all.

DrRoss - glad you have a job for the time being.

I had one of those days where I struggled not to eat from sheer boredom. I did actually take some chocolate from home into the office so the others can hoover it up rather than me.

We did have some catering at a thing today and I managed to ignore it.

StopLaughingDrRoss · 22/10/2015 15:56

Today is my weigh in day and I've managed to actually get to the 190 mark after losing 2lbs so this is where I'll start:

Week 1: 190 lbs

I'm hoping it will steadily creep down but should probably steal your idea, Lorelei, and take my treats in to work - but just don't want to! Everything in moderation.. not that I can do moderation but ho hum Smile

lorelei9 · 22/10/2015 19:35

DrRoss, well done.

RoosterCogburn · 22/10/2015 19:51

Well done DrRoss, that's a great start.

MamaLizard · 24/10/2015 16:26

Hi
Please can I join? Your thread is super motivating.
I currently weigh 145lbs at 5'2. I know it's not enormous but I carry all the weight around the middle and still look pregnant 2.5 years after dc2. (People have actually congratulated me on the third one being on the way. Mortifying). It's also about 30lbs more than I weighed after dc1. If I could lose 20lbs id probably settle for that, but none of my usual efforts seem to work anymore. Looking after 2 kids means not much time for exercise so I'm relying heavily on the diet option... What do you think is realistic by Christmas?

RoosterCogburn · 24/10/2015 17:01

Welcome MamaLizard.
It's about 8 weeks until Christmas so you could lose up to half a stone just through diet.

MamaLizard · 24/10/2015 17:45

Only eight weeks!! ;) eek!

Half a stone sounds really good, thank you. Any tips on where to start?

RoosterCogburn · 24/10/2015 18:14

I'm using My Fitness Pal and calorie counting.

I knew I was overeating, but what was shocking was the amount if unnecessary stuff I was eating (mainly crisps, biscuits and cake) all my extras were racking up the calories.

Actually logging everything I eat has made me far more mindful. I haven't eaten diet food, just normal meal (although Ive tried to make them veg heavy) and I have substituted one meal a day with a green smoothie.

The smoothie usually consists of spinach, an apple, celery, half an avocado, mint, wheatgerm and almond milk - I find it is very filling.

I will admit that the first ten days were hard and I felt hungry quite often so I drank masses of water overtime I wanted to eat.

As time has gone by my appetite has actually decreased and I don't want to eat between meals - I think a lot of the time it was just habit rather than real hunger

MamaLizard · 24/10/2015 22:48

Gosh, good tips. Green smoothie in place of 1 meal is a great idea -easier than an all day juice fast. I often intend to do that but end up with the smoothie having been a snack as I still eat 3 meals!! Discipline somewhat lacking here! More water and veg-heavy meals sounds sensible and achievable. I'm trying to stop coffee and wine and drink green tea to boost my sluggish metabolism.

RoosterCogburn · 24/10/2015 22:54

I haven't tried it but my friend uses green tea as the liquid component of her smoothie

For me the trick has been trying to look longterm - as the weeks go by I find it disheartening when I think of my weight loss in terms of one lb or a fraction of a lb so I am trying to think in chunks - at the moment I'm telling myself it took me 100 days to lose a stone so if I carry on at the same rate (and I haven't starved myself or stopped eating out - just tried to make better choices) by February 1st I could be another stone lighter.

lorelei9 · 25/10/2015 10:02

welcome mama!

Rooster - may I ask, have you calculated the calories in that green smoothie? I'm mostly just mixing green juice with my protein shake at the mo. Yours sounds lovely but I am wondering how many cals it is - for me, if it comes out the same as a sandwich, I'd rather eat the sandwich but that's just me.

Slightly odd update from me (and a day early as mad busy tomorrow) - no loss this week, disappointed. But, a pair of trousers that i thought I wouldn't fit into for at least another 7lb (so to speak) are actually fitting. Weird.

RoosterCogburn · 25/10/2015 14:05

lorelie - the green smoothies are between 250-300 calories. I could reduce that by using water instead of coconut or almond milk.I like them because they keep me fuller for longer than a sandwich.

Good news on the trousers! My mum has just very kindly given me £100 to spend on new clothes to celebrate losing one stone. She's made me promise not to spend the money on anything else so I'm going to have browse online and see what I can buy.

lorelei9 · 25/10/2015 20:18

thanks Rooster, good to know.

happy shopping!
