Hello Smile
I've recently lost over 30lbs but I still need to lose another 30ish. Anyone want to join in for some support/motivation? I'm thinking weekly Monday morning weigh ins starting tomorrow (Not compulsory).
I'm going to do healthy food at about 1000-1200 calls a day. I may also add in some fast days too.
All diet types and weights welcome Smile

oh, the Tube is always heaving and rammed. Your journey sounds idyllic.

I gave myself permission to have today as a treat day but might have got carried away. Was bored with all dinner ideas so dug out some venison from the freezer. Was very rich! then I had some ice cream Shock

Maybe there aren't that many calories in venison and it just tastes rich? I have actually never bought it before, only had it in restaurants, but didn't have a creamy sauce or anything.

oh well, quiet weekend = much easier dieting.

RoosterCogburn · 12/09/2015 17:02

Venison is great - less fat than skinless chicken!

I am very lucky with my journey to work - I have three possible routes, all the same length.
One goes through woods, the other over moorland and the third through the foothills, then I end up at the coast. I try not to take it for granted.

I've just done my Tesco order for delivery tomorrow - you'd think that with no sweets/crisps/cakes the bill would drop but I guess veg etc is expensive - either way, Im certainly not saving money.

lorelei9 · 13/09/2015 10:01

Thanks Rooster, I had no idea. I will look out for it being on offer again.

Not hugely hopeful for tomorrow's weigh in. Yes, I have a had a sneaky look today already Grin

I was ravenous yesterday, no idea why, but it was one of those times where it was better to give in and eat a banana otherwise I'd end up eating 2 x the amount I should at dinner.

I'm not saving money either but didn't think I would. Junk food is cheap.

No loss Sad

RoosterCogburn · 14/09/2015 19:11

Teeny tiny loss

Starting weight 172.8lb
Week One 167.2lb
Week Two 166.2lb
Week Three 165.2lb
Week Four 164.8lb
Week Five 163.4lb
Week Six 163.8b
Week Seven 162.2lb
Week eight 162lb

lorelei9 · 14/09/2015 19:47

Well done! That's good stuff.

I was a bit surprised to have no loss are clothes are def looser.

I have two meals out this week. I might have to sub a meal with a protein shake on the other days.

One is a restaurant with very limited choice but it's the turn of the friend to choose so fair enough. The other is a really fab place for a birthday but at least it's lunch so I know I won't eat dinner that day.

I find dinner out much harder because I need to eat more in the day, I really can't save calories. Smaller dinners are better for me.

RoosterCogburn · 14/09/2015 22:19

I'm having a green smoothie for lunch every day - I adjust the calorie content according to my evening meal (does that make sense? If my evening meal is higher calorie I have a lower calorie smoothie)

I'm finding they fill me and I am no longer snacking - I used to eat biscuits or crisps at about 4pm

My weight loss seems v slow - its taken me 4 weeks to drop 2.8lb

lorelei9 · 14/09/2015 23:42

But overall you've lost a lot

What do you put in your green smoothie please? I can't imagine finding one filling.

RoosterCogburn · 15/09/2015 22:38

Mostly stuff that is growing in the garden at the moment

Spinach, kale, brocoli, beans - then I add either pineapple or apple.

Sometimes banana or avocado.

Ive also used beetroot and carrot.

They are surprisingly filling.

lorelei9 · 16/09/2015 16:05

Work boredom makes this so hard. Have been ready to die of boredom since 11am. Sigh.

RoosterCogburn · 16/09/2015 22:41

I'm alright during the part of the day when the children are in school as I tend not to get a moment to myself. In fact some days I don't get time to eat lunch.
The worst time is at 4pm after they've gone and I'm tempted to have something with my cup of tea.

lorelei9 · 17/09/2015 22:27

Rooster, you've inspired me. I bought a Nutribullet.

I never buy kitchen gadgets so I hope it's good.

it's a good idea anyway because I'm really not a fan of cooking. In summer I am happy to have salads with my meal, but in winter I don't want cold salads and then my first choice is roasted veg, where it's easy to get carried away with oil or butter...I can't interested in things like steamed broccoli.

So I reckon I'll get more veg if I have a green smoothie every day and if I am just pulverising the stuff I'll be less irritated than with cooking. I have also bought some beetroot and kale, not things I like to eat, but I figure juiced up with carrots, they will be fine and I hear they are superfoods or whatever.

RoosterCogburn · 17/09/2015 22:41

I should have shares in the company!

I was unsure about mine (it was a gift) but I have used it nearly every day for the past two months.

I must share my top tip - do not put carrots and any form of milk in together - looked like a cup of vomit! I can't tell you how it tasted because I couldn't drink it.

Seriously, I've bought pineapple and cut it up and frozen it, then I just grab a few chunks to add to my green smoothie for a bit of sweetness - I found that if i didn't freeze loads went to waste.

I've also frozen bananas that were nearing the end of their life and they have been fine to add to your smoothie as well.

Chia seeds, flax, oats and nuts can be added as well to make them more filling.

Have fun, I hope it works for you and as you say it has to be healthier.

lorelei9 · 20/09/2015 18:46

I have to say, those recipes don't come out looking so appetising as they do in the pic.....I think I also hadn't realised how much fruit was needed to sweeten things up.

Birthday meal today so not expecting a loss tomorrow. But not expecting to need to eat for a couple of days, ha ha.

RoosterCogburn · 20/09/2015 21:15

I don't really like fruit that much but I love veg so I prefer mine to be more veg tasting.
DH needs a lot of fruit in his before he will enjoy them

Happy Birthday. Hope you've had a lovely day and an enjoyable meal.

educatingarti · 20/09/2015 22:35

Please may i join? I need some accountability but don't really want to pay out for a group! I lost quite a bit of weight last year following paleo but can't get back into it properly and all the recipes taste horrible currently I'm managing to lose a pound or two but then put it back on by bingeing on cake, biscuits, chocolate etc. I have very little self control with these and may be a bit of a sugar addict!
I'm five foot one and a half and currently about 156lb but I'll weigh myself properly tomorrow. My first target would be to get down to 140lb but I'd ideally like to be about 128 to 134lb. I need encouragement to avoid bingeing and some accountability so I don't just keep putting weight back on.

RoosterCogburn · 20/09/2015 22:43

Welcome educatingarti

I know exactly what you mean about accountability - even though this thread has dwindled to lorelei and I, just posting here makes me feel as if have to stay on track.
You're about my height and you already weigh less then I do! My next goal is 154lb which would be 11 stone.

How much weight did you lose last year?

educatingarti · 21/09/2015 08:02

Thanks for the welcome! Last year at my heaviest I was about 164lb and I got down to 146lb but have slowly put weight back on!
So this morning I weighed 155lb which I felt good about because I thought I'd be 156lb but that's the problem because I' ll lose a pound, binge a bit and put on two and then feel good because I've lost those same two pounds! Rooster you've done well losing steadily over 8 weeks!

lorelei9 · 21/09/2015 11:12

Rooster, thank you.
Educating, welcome.

No loss but that's okay for a big birthday I reckon. Will work extra hard this week.

RoosterCogburn · 22/09/2015 19:45

Hello all

Couldn't log on to add my small loss

Starting weight 172.8lb
Week One 167.2lb
Week Two 166.2lb
Week Three 165.2lb
Week Four 164.8lb
Week Five 163.4lb
Week Six 163.8b
Week Seven 162.2lb
Week Eight 162lb
Week Nine 161lb

Hope you had a lovely birthday lorelei, mines during the Christmas period so I'm planning on having a week off and indulging then.

educatingarti you've done really well with your weight loss - were you following a particular plan?

educatingarti · 23/09/2015 10:05

154lb this morning.

Rooster - I lost the weight following a strict paleo diet for 3 months, so no processed/refined sugars, no grains at all and no potatoes. It is striclty also non-dairy too, but I allowed milk in tea and coffee and still fried things with butter rather than clarified butter and allowed myself a little cheese! I can't face doing it again though and I never want to eat another sweet potato ever!

I'm trying this time to do Paleo "lite". So I'm allowing potatoes, the occasional grains (cheese and ham toastie when I treat myself to lunch out on food shopping day and gluten free rice cakes) plus not worrying about minor bits of wheat etc in - eg - fish cakes or burgers or sausages!

I know it will work if I really stick to it and don't binge every 4 or 5 days!

RoosterCogburn · 23/09/2015 19:36

154lb is a great start

Paleo doesn't sound like something I could manage but it's interesting to see what other people are doing.

I've had a couple of non-scale victories recently - just small things like clothes that fit without straining at the seams and the diminishment of my embarrassing back boobs that were bulging out making me reject a lot of my clothes as I felt they looked so awful

lorelei9 · 23/09/2015 21:00

Well done both!
Pales doesn't seem like something I could stick to but I know some people who've kept weight off with that and like the plan too.

lorelei9 · 23/09/2015 21:00

Paleo .. Ruddy autocorrect

RoosterCogburn · 27/09/2015 23:18

How's everyone doing?
I think I might have lost another lb. I shall weigh in the morning and see.
