Hello Smile
I've recently lost over 30lbs but I still need to lose another 30ish. Anyone want to join in for some support/motivation? I'm thinking weekly Monday morning weigh ins starting tomorrow (Not compulsory).
I'm going to do healthy food at about 1000-1200 calls a day. I may also add in some fast days too.
All diet types and weights welcome Smile

I was confident I'd lose a pound. No loss. Grumpy. Hope others have done better. Honestly surprised.

educatingarti · 28/09/2015 08:43

Half a pound! Down to 154.5lb. I' m cross with myself though because I pigged out twice during the week on sweets and chocolate so I think I'd have lost a pound or two if I hadn't! I had a stressful and emotional week and gave in (as usual)

RoosterCogburn · 28/09/2015 19:03

Lost 1lb which I'm really pleased about because I'm in the middle of a stressful couple of weeks in work and I've had to work really hard to stay on track - so tempted to drink coke and eat chocolate but I didn't give in.

Starting weight 172.8lb
Week One 167.2lb
Week Two 166.2lb
Week Three 165.2lb
Week Four 164.8lb
Week Five 163.4lb
Week Six 163.8b
Week Seven 162.2lb
Week Eight 162lb
Week Nine 161lb
Week Ten 16olb

educatingarti · 28/09/2015 20:03

Yay! Well done Rooster. Lorelei, maybe you' be very nearly lost a lb and next week it will be more than one!

lorelei9 · 29/09/2015 09:46

well done all
I must be honest, I am really baffled as last week was a good week, bar, er, 4 cocktails on Friday night. But I didn't eat most of Saturday as I was hungover so pretty sure I cancelled out those calories.

I'm puzzled as well because I look different - I've been doing Beginner Shred and people are starting to comment. Hrmph.

RoosterCogburn · 29/09/2015 23:28

Lorelei, that's great that you are looking trimmer!
I bet you have a if loss next week.

RoosterCogburn · 29/09/2015 23:28

A BIG loss, not an if loss.

lorelei9 · 30/09/2015 20:10

Lol, an IF loss is how it seems!

RoosterCogburn · 30/09/2015 20:30

Seriously, if you are looking trimmer that has to mean you are losing weight

I'm starting to notice small non-scale victories like it being easier to do up certain items of clothing and I've discovered my knee high winter boots do up easily - last year I had to tug and tug and was worried that they were going to split.

lorelei9 · 01/10/2015 09:51

thank you Rooster, that's really good and you have a good loss to show so makes sense that clothes are fitting better

I need some encouragement today

I have raging insomnia and after being up till about 3, I was flipping starving and ate a sandwich. stupidly I weighed myself and show a gain of a 1lb - this is just because I ate in the middle of the night right?!

one of many things I hate about lack of sleep - it definitely makes me eat more, but it's a problem I have and I'm starting to only get about 3 hours even with a pill, so it's not a problem that's getting better.

re the exercise, I don't know, I can see my shape changing but it's so discouraging not to see much change on the scales. I was in Weight Watchers once and people at my size used to lose 3lb a week!

I have a winter holiday and I really can't face being fat for it. (late winter)

educatingarti · 01/10/2015 13:35

lorelei - muscle weighs more per unit volume than fat, so if you are replacing fat with muscle, it is perfectly possible that you could weigh the same and yet notice things fitting better. I had a bag of chocolate covered peanuts last night ( total sugar craving) but if I'm really sensible for the rest of the week, I'm still hoping to show o loss on Monday.

Reminder to self - nothing with processed sugar in it!

RoosterCogburn · 01/10/2015 14:30

I can forego sweet things easily. My downfalls are crisps, salted nuts and cheese.
Pre sensible eating if I was making a meal that included cheese I'd eat masses during the preparation.

lorelei9 · 01/10/2015 16:50

educatingarti - yes, I know - I think it's retained water + eating a meal in the middle of the night. I didn't have breakfast today - fairly obviously as I didn't need to - so hopefully it's cancelled out.

I'm definitely more of a sweet tooth person but I'm finding that the less I indulge it, the easier it is. I am also having a protein shake or mixing the powder with yogurt - chocolate flavour so that helps.

RoosterCogburn · 01/10/2015 17:23

You are so right about the less I indulge the easier it is statement

I just ate a chocolate digestive - first sweet thing I've had for about two months - whilst I enjoyed it I couldn't eat another one, whereas in the past I've been known to eat half a dozen at once

lorelei9 · 01/10/2015 17:44

Rooster, the other thing about your savoury cravings - you can actually make proper nutritional meals link up with it. I mean, nuts, cheese etc can be quite good for you whereas sadly sugary stuff is usually just rubbish. I realise crisps aren't great, but I think it must be better to crave nuts and cheese than just random chocolate. (Well I tend to favour Green & Black, but that's also expensive which is off putting).

RoosterCogburn · 01/10/2015 19:26

You're right - I've just stopped eating crisps because I have no self control where they are concerned.

My substitute has been a bowl of popped corn with a sprinkle of salt and paprika which is nicer than it sounds.

lorelei9 · 02/10/2015 12:19

I think crisps are also about the activity - someone told me they were for restless brains and that's the only time I crave them.

I think that's why they made chocolate in cans like Pringles - to maximise use of that activity of people just sitting there constantly repeating the action. I have never gone anywhere near those. Same principle as French fries.

I tried salted caramel chocolate once and I could immediately see it had potential to satisfy sweet and salty cravings - I bet that's why it was invented.

the substances themselves may not be addictive in the clinical sense but I have a lot of concerns around how easy it is to get used to them. So now I tend to not try new things in terms of chocolate - it isn't worth it tbh!!

RoosterCogburn · 02/10/2015 22:07

I love salted caramel - the whole sweet/salty thing is addictive for me. At Christmas someone bought me sea-salt fudge, I ate so much it gave me a headache but I couldn't stop.

I can eat a tube of Pringles in one go!

I'm still trying to think long term in order to stay focussed.
I'm part of a group of teachers from various schools that meet once a term and the dates arrived today.
One is next week and the next date is in March.
Hopefully by next week I'll be about a stone lighter then I was at the last meeting and potentially I could be another stone+ lighter by March.

I find the long haul drag of losing weight so slowly quite difficult. I know that a slow loss will be easier to maintain but it would be lovely to wake up thin tomorrow!

lorelei9 · 03/10/2015 10:11

oh tell me about it Rooster - the long slog is just awful, especially considering I gained mine really fast, so I feel as if it should come off fast.

I also have very limited space in my flat, so I keep looking at the wardrobe thinking how nice it will be when I only have 1 size of clothes again. At the moment there's nowhere to even store a flipping duvet or suitcase, so they are just hanging around getting on my nerves!!

RoosterCogburn · 03/10/2015 10:26

Mine crept on stealthily.
I can track it in holiday photos, I go from slender and healthy looking to red faced, sweltering and chubby over a 15 year period.

As my sister exclaimed the other day when we were looking at old photos 'oh my god, you had cheekbones back then'

Hopefully the next six months will see the reemergence of the cheekbones!

With regards to clothes last winter I could hardly fit into anything so just wore the same few outfits on rotation. This year I will be able to wear lots of items that wouldn't fit last year.
I'm planning to buy myself some new clothes too but I'd like to wait until I've lost more weigh

RoosterCogburn · 04/10/2015 11:07

Weighing in a day early because I may not have time tomorrow

Starting weight 172.8lb
Week One 167.2lb
Week Two 166.2lb
Week Three 165.2lb
Week Four 164.8lb
Week Five 163.4lb
Week Six 163.8b
Week Seven 162.2lb
Week Eight 162lb
Week Nine 161lb
Week Ten 160lb
Week Eleven 158.8lb

14lbs lost Smile

I was going to treat myself to something nice when I lost a stone but as I currently have a plumber working in my utility room I may have to postpone any financial outlay...

However, the feeling of having reached a goal feels rewarding enough

educatingarti · 04/10/2015 17:28

Wow! Well done Rooster! You are catching me up!

lorelei9 · 05/10/2015 09:41

well done Rooster!

I've lost half a pound. Beginning to think I need to rethink what I'm doing.

seem to have caught a bug so won't be eating much today anyway (a coldy bug, usually puts me off food).

educatingarti · 05/10/2015 14:08

155lb! Sad!

lorelei9 · 05/10/2015 15:08

educating, it's probably just a water fluctuation or something, don't worry.

there's been a post elsewhere about someone gaining weight on the workout I'm doing - so I'm going to rethink my workout as well as my food intake.
