Anyone with a stone or so to lose? Fancy buddying up?

lastqueenofscotland · 13/06/2015 08:46

I think i would be better if i had someone i didn't want to let down!
hopped on the scales this morning and 10st1lb dead. I was about 9 stone last summer and want to get back down there! Currently struggling to get back below ten i keep stalling (and eating biblical quantities of pitta and hummus and galaxy bars... not at the same time)

I have a beach holiday coming up in 10 weeks so a few pounds gone by then would be great!!
Anyone up for buddying up with a food dairy and telling me off?

May I join you?

I am 10 and a half stone which is a stone and a half too heavy (but only just in the BMI overweight category). My best weight is actually 2 stone lighter but even at a stone lighter I would look so much better.

Was at a good weight most of my life - it is just the last 2 years I can't seem to control it.

I know how it happened too.

I stopped exercising regularly
I started cooking big dinners in the evening with lots of potatoes
I hit peri-menopause/menopause

So I've started the shred. Started having main meal in the middle of the day and not so heavy (summer I can do that as kids aren't in school), started going to the gym even when I don't feel like it.

Will weigh in again on Monday.

This thread is very inspirational.

MegBusset · 03/07/2015 17:21

Hi Canyouforgiveher :) exercise is key for me too. I was my lightest ever adult weight in the year when DS1 was at school and DS2 at preschool, as I had five afternoons a week to exercise; I got really into running and even ran a 10k race that Mo Farah was in (he beat me though Grin)

Since getting a job, even though it's part time, I have so much less time to exercise and it's been tough fitting anything into my week. Plus I'm sat at a desk a lot of the time and there always seems to be cake at work! Hence I've put on a stone in two years :(

MegBusset · 03/07/2015 17:24

Today's menu:
Breakfast: porridge
Lunch: tiger roll with quorn ham, salad
Dinner will be bbqed salmon with bean salad
Have already done my shred for today as I may have a glass of wine with dinner!

Off to a festival tomorrow so will report back on s Sunday having hopefully not gone off the rails too much!

TiredAssShowgirl · 03/07/2015 22:59

Welcome Canyou Smile

9 st 7 today - half a stone off. Think it is starting to show Grin Been out for a few drinks tonight, and accidentally ate a croissant at breakfast Blush they were there and so tasty but means i can't really eat when i get home! Need to make sure i don't trash the lot this weekend again

Canyouforgiveher · 04/07/2015 04:34

Hi everyone. did the shred today and instead of going out for dinner with dh instead we had bbq dinner (salad for me) with the teen kids and then walked up to the local restauarant and dh had desert and I had a glass of prosecco.

Love reading the posts her about losses. If I lost half a stone, I would look a lot better

Xoticdreamz · 04/07/2015 08:43

Welcome new posters .
I'm feeling a bit pre menstral and bloated . Weight back up to 8st 10lb . I think it's just bloat though .
Trying to keep to the diet and keep positive .
Working lots over the next few days then away to Blackpool for a few days with my friend and her 9 year old . Taking my youngest who is 7 . Will try so hard not to muck up for my holiday at the end of the month .

Mediumred · 04/07/2015 10:25

Aww, Xotic, I've just weighed and I've put on a pound over the course of the week and am back up to 9st 11 and a half! Boo!!

I've been so good with exercise - three HIIT classes, sesh with personal trainer, back and forth to work three times on my bike and even a v gentle and gossipy open air swim with my friend!

I have had a few social things on and really trained to make good choices but there's been a bit of extra booze too and today a friend is having a BBQ, arghhh! Think I will try my best today but admit it might be a write-off and get back in the saddle (metaphorically -I left bike at work cos of the downpour!) tmrw!!

Good luck everyone else!

DrexelG · 04/07/2015 17:41

Hello, can I join please? I currently weigh 10.10lb and need to lose about a stone. I have always been around the 9.7lb mark. I have a thyroid condition that has worsened since my last pregnancy and so it's even harder to lose weight. I have recently joined the gym to go swimming only and aqua aerobics once a week. And also cut out bread and coffee out of my diet totally. I have lost 4lb this week. Still finding it v.v.v. hard. Need a good kick up the arse!

PointyBirds · 04/07/2015 18:21

Welcome Drexel :) Well done for the 4lb loss, that's great. Thyroid problems are awful for weight gain/difficulty losing.

It's all gone a bit wrong for me today. First I've been knackered because of thunderstorms keeping me awake in the night, and I just want to eat eat eat when I'm tired. And also there's been a community thing going on I've been helping out with and there was cake and crisps and Pimms. Oops.

I won't weigh myself tomorrow and will try to counteract some of the damage over the next couple of days.

Archduke · 05/07/2015 06:31

Hi everyone and welcome all new starters.

Mediumred and xotic, don't be too down hearted about minor blips, just keep being mindful of what you are putting in to your bodies over the next few days. Aim for healthy and nourishing food rather than delicious empty cals from junky rubbish.

Talking of junky rubbish, dh, dd 1 and I went out for a mahoosive Chinese last night, GOD IT WAS DELICIOUS! I was so stuffed it was excellent (actually I was so stuffed I felt a bit ill). Dd and dh stopped on the way home for a McFlurry Shock how on earth they could fit it it is beyond me.

Today I am yet to eat anything - it's 3pm here. I can't be bothered to make another green juice just yet, may have to though before I go weird with hunger.

Just walked in from the shops with the kids and dh has complimented me on the way I look Grin, specifically though to say "you look great darl, you've lost your front bum"

Bloody Australians Hmm

Xoticdreamz · 05/07/2015 07:39

"Lost your front bum " that's hilarious arch .
I'm still 8 / 10 and still full of the bloat , I always put on 2/3 lb prior to my period though .
I went on these scales yesterday called Anita ? Measure everything , body fat / internal fat / muscle in your body , metabolic age .
I was in a rush so didn't write them down but really interesting!
It said my metabolic age was 22 ! I was amazed at that , I'm 37 .
Anyway I want some but I think they are over 100 quid .
Have a good Sunday and hope the weigh ins are great .

DrexelG · 05/07/2015 18:37

Urgh!!! Terrible day. Only managed 3.hrs sleep last night so have been giving onto my sugar cravings all day to try and gain some energy. Really dreading getting on the scales tomorrow. Will have to be stronger next week and really cut back. Have a hen weekend to go to in 2 weeks and then a wedding in August! Need to lose the weight by then.

lastqueenofscotland · 05/07/2015 19:15

TurnOverTheTv · 05/07/2015 19:21

Awful awful weekend food and drink wise. I went away with my mum and three kids for the weekend. Enough said! :-) I'll catch up with everyone tomorrow, I'm already in bed after shocking sleep due to storms/heat.

MegBusset · 05/07/2015 20:16

Well I had a great time at the festival yesterday and managed to Shred first thing in the morning to offset some of the damage!

Yesterday 's meals:
Porridge
Tiger roll with Quorn ham
Orange juice ice lolly
Pizza (fresh wood fired so not too greasy)
2 pints Aspall cider

Didn't think I'd done too badly until I looked up how many calories are in a pint of cider Blush

Today much better:
Breakfast Special K red berries
Lunch one slice crusty bread with butternut squash pate, salad
Dinner: chick pea and lentil soup, small roll
Snack: banana

Will go and Shred once dinner's gone down, and fingers crossed for a reasonable weigh-in tomorrow!

PointyBirds · 05/07/2015 20:33

I've had an ok day today, trying to offset the cakefest of yesterday. Got some swimming in first thing, having had half a grapefruit for breakfast. Then baked some fresh bread so had a bit more than I should have had of that for lunch with some soup, yum. Aaand, a small portion of the pasta we had for dinner, with some green beans. Snacked on strawberries and blueberries and a spoonful of greek yoghurt.

Going to try to get to the gym again tomorrow morning, then DH is away for a few days so will have a chance for some more diet friendly evening meals. I'll have a look back over the thread for some inspiration.

Well done all those cracking on with it. I hope the sleep deprived among us (me included!) get a good night's sleep, with no storms hopefully :)

Archduke · 06/07/2015 01:15

I'm in a size 10 skirt!!!

It's tight but I'm in!

Grin
Mediumred · 06/07/2015 06:41

Woohoo!!! Well done to you, archduke, that's amazing!! And thanks so much for your kind supportive words. I'm afraid ydy was v terrible - climbing out of a hangover on a small mountain of Haribo and breadsticks Smile!

Think I am in a 'good during week, v bad a weekends' cycle. Will have to be v good this week!

Well done to pointy, meg, lastqueen and everyone else who had a much more disciplined Sunday than me!!

Have a lovely day and good luck, all!

KillashandraRee · 06/07/2015 07:03

Morning all. Can I join? I've tentatively been thinking about how to lose my extra stone and a half for a while but somehow now seems the right time to start. (Possibly helped by the first 8hrs sleep I've had in four years?!) and I've been reading the thread and think it would keep me on track to chat to you all.
I've got a one and three year old so although my meals aren't too bad, I snack in the daytime and pick food off their plates. I also do no exercise bar dog walks and carrying them round all day.
I've seen the Brazilian Butt lift dvd set and am interested in that although I've read it's difficult. I just need to set up TV/DVDs player in my room.
Has anyone any diet plans that really work? I'm thinking of MFP and calorie counting. I try to eat a meat free diet a few days a week after a month of vegan earlier this year.
Oh and I'm 5'3" 38yrs old (Sad) and weighed in at 10st 8.5lbs this morning. Ideally I'd like to get to 9 stone but I haven't been there at all as an adult, lowest I've managed was 9st 12 about 8 years ago.
Sorry for massive post.

EllaBella1 · 06/07/2015 08:31

Morning ladies!

I haven't weighed myself in a few days. Trying not to weigh myself as much. Had a naughty weekend though - booze bbq and an afternoon teaConfused but did go running and started my weights at home to blitz these arms!! Back on it this week!!! PMA!!

TiredAssShowgirl · 06/07/2015 09:33

Morning all, welcome Killa! Congratulations on your full nights sleep ! Smile Well done Arch!!!

This weekend wasnt toooo bad - in 2 lb up on Friday but i don't really trust a friday weigh in, as I'm on 1000 cal over the week, and often go quite under, but am trying to eat sensibly but normally at weekends. i think the weekends sort of calibrate me to what i actually am! No way am i going to not eat cake for the rest of my life!

Sat was ok, a few bits of cake, went to a little market, and made pizza for dinner, but actually made it from scratch, so whisper thin wholewheat bases, i had mashed sweet potato instead of tomato sauce, and about half a bag of spinach, a handful of grated mozzarella and a slice of procutto so actually ok (and soooo delicious)
Yesterday was worse, a fair bit ofsnacking, opened a bag of liquorice all sorts for DM as i thought i didn't like them. Turns out my tastes have changed.Blush

Back on it for the week now. Going to limit hard this week, I've got a lunch on Thursday and i intend to enjoy it!

Got a pot of daal that my friend made, and some pakora i made to use up some left over veg for lunch - if anyone has a good pakora recipe I'd really appreciate it as mine are bad!

Canyouforgiveher · 06/07/2015 15:07

HI all

so weighed in this morning. On June 23 I was 10 stone 10 pounds. Today I am 10 stone five and a half pounds. So 4.5 loss over 2 weeks.

I've been really good about exercise all week, doing the shred and fitting in as much walking as I can. Have cut out bread and tried to eat mostly veg and fruit. Feeling optimistic!

PointyBirds · 06/07/2015 15:47

Well done Canyou, sounds like you're doing some good work :)

I'm suddenly very bored of being on a diet. I'm still carless (grrr) and it's a miserable grey/rainy day so we're having a hanging around the house kind of day and all I want to do is drink tea and eat biscuits.

I did go to the gym this morning so I've got a few extra calories to play with, but I think I've used them up already Sad. Need to try to keep my focus for the rest of the day and have a sensible dinner.

MegBusset · 06/07/2015 20:19

Yay well done Archduke and Can you :)

I weighed in at 9st 8lb this morning so seem to have pulled it back after Saturday's cider indulgence!

Food today:
Porridge
Tiger roll with Quorn ham
Pesto pasta with lots of veg
Still no garlic bread or wine :(
Snacks: a mini corn cob and a couple of oat cakes

lastqueenofscotland · 06/07/2015 20:29

Food today has been veggie stir fry and a small jacket potato.
No running as still tired from yesterday's 15 miles!!
