Does anyone want to join me in 3 healthy meals a day and no snacking plan?

I'm an overweight grazer and feel like I've lost my way totally.
I eat far too much and hardly remember what feeling hungry feels like.
I'm not going to be strict about what I eat - just normal sensible meals with vegetables. If I eat out then I'll make a healthy choice.
Anyone fancy it?

Great result sunshine! Are you specifically targeting the muffin top with exercise or doing general cardio?

I've had quite a good day despite being at a BBQ surrounded by unhealthiness. Shreddies without milk for breakfast, one burger with barbecued corn on the cob (delicious!), an apple and popcorn for lunch, then grilled trout with roasted pepper, dried apricot, onion and mangetout cous cous. Managed to resist an ice cream at the BBQ but did just succumb to a packet of frazzles.

I can now breathe in my once too tight shorts so despite the scales not really showing any change things must be going in the right direction. I might move to using a tape measure for progress assessment instead.

Wow sunshine that's amazing! Well done.
My day was good til the evening when I ate a bit too much choc after dinner. I did go for a run this morning though so hopefully they'll have netted each other off.
Here's to Monday and getting strict again.

I hope I can lose a stone in 5 weeks, that's seriously good going!

b. cornflakes (I usually skip and snack mid morning)
l. homemade fried chicken like kfc but better, baby spuds and lots of salad. Apple crumble with custard.
t. ham and cheese roll. handful of tortillas and 3 homemade oaty biccys.

No snacks but I am starving!

MugsLife · 08/06/2015 09:21

I've realised that my bathroom floor is too uneven and wobbly so all my weigh-ins were probably unreliable. I'm starting again by weighing myself in the kitchen on the hard stone tiles. My new weight is 11st 11lb. No idea if I am losing weight, but I feel like I am! I will perservere and I'm proud of myself for staying good when they were so many temptations this weekend.

flapinko · 08/06/2015 14:11

500 thanks for the motivational tips - very helpful and in better frame of mind now!

B: mini choc ricecakes + latte
L: mini sausages, fried egg, baked beans, on rye bread + apple crunch n'ked bar

Will have an apple/banana to keep me going later on today, and supper tonight is gonna be shepherds pie + veg.

B: porridge
L: baked sardines and eggs
D: homemade dahl, mini naan, yoghurt and a teaspoon of mango chutney
No snacks

Knitting - how do you make the homemade kfc? DH would probably love that!

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 08/06/2015 19:29

Hi mugslife,
you chop up chicken breasts (tried it with drumsticks but DC prefer no bones) and put them in a zippy bag with buttermilk to marinade (overnight or so), then make a flour mix (some plain, some sr and some gram), with a herb and spice mix (garlic powder, turneric, herbs de provence, bit cayenne - adjust to what you like) and toss the chicken in the flour. keep going back and shake it about, and the flour makes a lumpy crust round the chicken. Then fry at about 170 degrees until cooked through. We then flash it for 30 seconds at 180 to get it really crisp.

Super yummy, but maybe not that healthy!!!

VivaLeBeaver · 08/06/2015 20:02

I've had a sneaky mid week weigh and am half a kg heavier than last Friday!

B. Belvita biscuits and banana
L. Chicken salad. Some mango.
D. Cheese omelette with a few slimming world chips. A pear.

I am starving.

500Decibels · 08/06/2015 21:08

Viva don't worry about little fluctuations.
I did ok today. I went on a long bike ride then had loads of dinner. Wish I hadn't eaten so much (2 helpings of noodles with green beans and salmon followed by some trifle)

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 08/06/2015 21:28

Not a bad day today-
b. 3 belvita biscuits (ds always takes one)
l. ham and cheese salad (at 4pm)
t. muller bliss yog and special k bst. Salt and vinegar crisps.
9k steps (better)
44 mile bike ride. I don't often go out with dp, and he didn't upload the route, so we got really lost. Had to ask my mum to pick the girls from school, and I fell off.
Had a gel and half an energy bar.
Too tired to be hungry tonight!

MugsLife · 08/06/2015 22:10

Thanks Knitting! That sounds lovely, although I don't have a deep fat fryer so I guess I can't do it - which is probably just as well! Maybe I could attempt a baked version instead.

Got on the bike, but was too tired really I just couldn't get into it - at least I tried!

Viva - I'm trying to not get disillusioned too now that I know I weight 1lb more than I think I did last week! :(

BaconAndAvocado · 08/06/2015 22:10

Hmm, It started well then when I got in from work (for me this is the worst time for, snacking!) it went down hill somewhat.....

B: bowl of mini shredded wheat with semi skimmed milk
L: salad of leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, little bit of ham
D: small jacket potato with cheese (ouch!) and Spring onions and some boiled broccoli

Snacks were........2 slices of carrot cake, handful of cashews,

Not a great start but might improve once all the very very gorgeous carrot cake has disappeared down my gullet

meerschweinchen · 08/06/2015 23:46

Wow sunshine that's brilliant. I had exactly five weeks to try to lose weight from when I started this as want to look nice for a wedding we're going to, and hope to be able to buy a dress in my normal size which fits well! I'm aiming for at least 10 pounds, but I'd be really chuffed with a stone!

I'm 6 pound down after two weeks, but I feel progress is stalling now. I'm so busy, I haven't got much time to exercise and lack of sleep is making me reach for the biscuit tin...

Once my deadline has passed at the end of this week, I'm really going to go running more and really try to eat better.

knitting I'm in awe! I can't believe you can cycle that far on so little food! You'll be teeny soon at this rate.

MugsLife · 09/06/2015 09:11

Bacon - I'm not surprised you caved in to the carrot cake, your food up until then looks pretty measly! (And carrot cake is irrestible!).

PurpleDaisies · 09/06/2015 10:46

I am currently in Starbucks wanting carrot cake! I am being good with a pot of Bircher museli yoghurt and fruit type thing which has the texture and appearance of wallpaper paste. Yum. Hmm But I did my first week weigh in and I'm down 1kg (about 2lbs) which I'm very pleased with!

Well done sunshine, meerschweinchen and everyone who's lost this week. Mugs everyone will be up and down so don't lose heart. Knitting I will be trying an oven baked version of your chicken this week-it sounds amazing! I will report back on how well it works..

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 09/06/2015 11:37

I'm afraid the deep fat fryer is a truly awful thing to have isn't it? In my defence it was a present, and we live nearly 10 miles from a chippy, so I do make homemade chips once in a while. Other than that it gets used for this chicken (they'd shallow fry well too I think) and pakora (so easy and tasty - but still fried!).

I'm finding this a bit hard, as I don't really eat proper meals, I always just pick (all day), so I'm really hoping being strict with it will shift my baby bag, as my baby is 3 this week!

MugsLife · 09/06/2015 12:58

They only reason I don't have a deep fat fryer, is because my Dh thinks I'm dangerous enough in the kitchen without one! He has a point, but I would love to have one! Felafel and 100% better straight out of the fryer, they are sort of healthy right? lol! Maybe when I'm slimmer... I'll probably be avoiding the lovely local chippy for awhile too (although we always share one portion between us so not so bad!).

I'm finding it hard too, as I'm hungry all the time. I'm just getting used to it now, but it would be nice to know that it was actually achieving something. Everytime I look in the mirror I look fatter.

Just polished off the final piece of carrot cake.......

Tomorrow is another day. This surely has to be the trademark statement of the permanent dieter? (Me)

VivaLeBeaver · 09/06/2015 22:30

I am trying so hard!

B. Spinach and peach blast
L. Cheese omelette and fruit scone.
D. Spag bol

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 09/06/2015 23:03

Had done really well...
b. two breakfast mcvities things, bit like flapjacks
l. ham and cheese salad, small slice of seedy bread and a fruit bar thing (aldi).
t. about 100g battered cod (leftover from dc).
Then I started making DS's birthday cake and have had quite a lot of trimmings, plus lots of waffle cone (for the whateveritis that goes round a triceritops' head!). Going to bed all bloaty.
And only 8k steps.

tumbletumble · 10/06/2015 07:17
