Does anyone want to join me in 3 healthy meals a day and no snacking plan?

I'm an overweight grazer and feel like I've lost my way totally.
I eat far too much and hardly remember what feeling hungry feels like.
I'm not going to be strict about what I eat - just normal sensible meals with vegetables. If I eat out then I'll make a healthy choice.
Anyone fancy it?

Brown rice seems to be a carb that really fills you up. I love it.

Not a great day yesterday:
Smoothie & peanut butter toast
Salmon & new potato salad & two Alpen light bars (oops)
Chinese take away with two glasses white wine (well, it was Friday)

On the upside I didn't snack between meals & the scales are showing a small loss of 1.5 lbs Grin

Hope everyone having a lovely weekend!

VivaLeBeaver · 30/05/2015 20:21

I've ballsed up and eaten an Easter egg I found! Ooops.

Omelette for breakfast
Spinach and raspberry nutriblast after my bike ride
Lentil salad for lunch
Massive pork chop and some potato wedges for dinner

Then I was starving and found that egg!

I should have had some veg with dinner to have filled me up more. I hate veg and really struggle eating it.

Don't worry Viva. I think it's fine to do a bit if cheating. Especially in a Saturday! Just cut back a bit over the next couple of days.
I had some Doritos for my treat then my neighbour brought round some yummy cake that shed made. She makes these amazing European type cakes with layers of fruit and cream. I just couldn't resist!
At least I went for a an hrs walk with the buggy and then a run (slow jog) this afternoon.
Food was
B alpen porridge and 1 marmite toast no butter.
L cheese and pickle sandwich.
D homemade chicken curry, rice.
Then Doritos and cake!

Yes, will get back on it tomorrow.

I think maybe salads fill me up more than meat and potaoes which is odd. Id have expected the opposite.

500Decibels · 30/05/2015 21:02

Yesterday I made a simple carrot, red onion and cucumber salad and I was stuffed half way through dinner and I'm sure it was because of the salad.
It's worth having a side salad with meals.

VivaLeBeaver · 30/05/2015 21:13

That sounds nice. Yes, will eat more salad.

MugsLife · 30/05/2015 22:08

Managed to not snack again today and did my exercise so sticking to plan still.

Really need to find a way to stick to this without thinking or worry about it too much!

flapinko · 31/05/2015 09:18

I know it is hard Mugs, I find I am thinking about it all the time too. However, I do believe if you do anything for long enough it will just turn into habit and you won't have to think about it (that's the aim anyway!).

Ok day yesterday, not bad for me:
Poached eggs on rye
Chicken casserole & brown rice
Spicy sweet potato soup & cheese with a coupla glasses of wine

How's everyone else doing?

Fairenuff · 31/05/2015 09:26

Doing ok here. Last night I really wanted to snack but I didn't and today I'm really glad about that. Good idea about more salad.

Zoeee88 · 31/05/2015 14:53

Hi all can I join? I've just come back from an all inclusive holiday and so my clothes are all a bit tight! But I don't want to do anything faddy or short-term, this three meals and no snacking sounds healthy and sustainable! I'm going to weigh myself on Thursday morning at the gym

VivaLeBeaver · 31/05/2015 16:28

Bollocks. Just weighed myself again which I know I shouldn't have done as I weighed myself on Friday. I've put on 0.8kg since Friday and am heavier than when I started! How the hell did that happen?

Fairenuff · 31/05/2015 16:40

Viva fear not! Weight can fluctuate loads throughout the day. Don't take any notice of it. Always weigh on same scales, in same position, same time of day and preferably same clothes. Then you will get a true comparison.

VivaLeBeaver · 31/05/2015 16:41

Thanks, just feel so disheartened now.

Will start weighing myself when I get up as doing it mid afternoon probably isn't the best idea. I have just eaten a plate of carrot sticks which I guess is adding to the weight!

PurpleDaisies · 31/05/2015 16:43

I've just seen this thread on active and was planning on doing a health kick on my own...it would be so much better with friends!

I have been eating terribly for the last month because of crazy work hours but I'm back to normal tomorrow and going to be cooking from scratch (in theory) most days. I have low blood sugar issues so I'm going for healthy rather than no snacks. Ideally I'd like to lose 2.5kg to be back to my happy weight of 60kg and tone up a bit as gym has fallen off the radar. Going on a mini break on the last weekend of June involving a bikini...not nice at the moment!

Today's food so far is a disaster area. I am embarrassed to post. Tomorrow's plan is
Breakfast : scrambled egg on wholemeal toast
Gym : spin class
Lunch : homemade sad veg soup (whatever looks a bit past its best in the fridge)
Tea : chicken, chorizo and spicy tomato pasta (wholemeal) with mangerout and baby corn on the side
Snacks are fruit and nuts (NOT my greatest weakness-crisps).

We'll see how it goes...

VivaLeBeaver · 31/05/2015 16:43

All I've had today is a shake (spinach, half a banana, some strawberries and chia seeds with half almond milk and half water)

Then three crackers with soft cheese for lunch

Then a plate of carrot sticks. Going to have steak and salad for dinner.

I've been to the gym this afternoon for the first time in weeks.

MugsLife · 31/05/2015 17:49

Hello Zoe and Purple!

No snacks again today, despite OH eating two whole chocolate cookies in front of me!

MugsLife · 31/05/2015 18:14

Viva - this should be encouraging: www.self.com/flash/diet-blog/2011/06/your-scale-is-lying-to-you-5-r/

I also weighed a 1lb more than yesterday this morning, it's fine, I just hope to see I at least weigh the same by the end of the week and have stopped gaining weight like I was doing!

PurpleDaisies · 31/05/2015 18:17

No snacks again today, despite OH eating two whole chocolate cookies in front of me!

That's amazing! I am in awe of your willpower...

meerschweinchen · 31/05/2015 18:58

I'm not doing so well this weekend. Feel I'm eating more again, including some biscuits yesterday.

Today I had a honey and oat bar for breakfast (we'd run out of bread), cheese baguette for lunch, then for dinner, 2 veg sausages, roast potatoes and veg followed by rhubarb crumble.

So no snacks as such, but not exactly the healthiest day!

viva don't worry about your weight today. I find mine fluctuates loads. For that reason I always weigh myself first thing in the morning, as I get a better result that way!

Hello purple I'm also aiming to lose some weight by the end of June - hopefully we'll get there.

VivaLeBeaver · 31/05/2015 19:39

I like that article Mugslife , thanks.

MugsLife · 01/06/2015 10:34

4lbs lighter apparently! I was 12stone last Tuesday and now 11st 10lbs. I'm sure it's mainly water weight as I have cut down the amount of carb I'm eating, so I doubt there's much actual fat - but it's nice to see some difference all the same :)

purple - I'm feeling very smug about not eating any cookie now!

PurpleDaisies · 01/06/2015 13:06

That's fab mugs! I am feeling proud after eating eggs and wholemeal toast as planned, and I've been to yoga. Not quite spin but I slept awkwardly and thought the stretching would do me good.

I'm in the process of making an Asian style broth with loads of veg and some quorn pieces in it. Just have to not reward myself with cake when I pop to town later! I need to find some appetising healthy alternatives to take with me.

Hi to meerschweinchen too...from your user name are you a guinea pig fan? I have two lovely boars who are proper cheeky squeaky chappies. Is it a special occasion in late June? I'm sure small changes will have an effect by then!

PurpleDaisies · 01/06/2015 13:07

Viva I really liked that article. I have a huge tendency to get blinkered by the number on the scale without thinking whether I look or feel better than I did before.

500Decibels · 01/06/2015 15:07

Well done Mugs! Brilliant loss.
Don't worry Meers. We re all going to have ups and down. Just keep going.

I've been for a long walk today.
Had Alpen porridge for breakfast. It's so nice. I think it's my favourite thing at the moment. 156cals for the sachet.
I had left over rice and chicken curry for lunch and have got a lentil soup and yoghurt for dinner.
I'm also going for a bike ride with a friend this evening.
I need to remember to keep drinking water. It's gone 3 and I've only had 1 glass of water today (2 coffees as well)

MugsLife · 01/06/2015 16:07

500decibels - google 'water myth'. Just drink when you are thirsty, you really need to drink all that much water and it doesn't need to be in pure water form either. Also, you can certainly drink too much water.
