Does anyone want to join me in 3 healthy meals a day and no snacking plan?

I'm an overweight grazer and feel like I've lost my way totally.
I eat far too much and hardly remember what feeling hungry feels like.
I'm not going to be strict about what I eat - just normal sensible meals with vegetables. If I eat out then I'll make a healthy choice.
Anyone fancy it?

Hi to newbies! Everyone most welcome. I'm semi-work from home too mumslife. Long daytimes are the worst for temptation. I have started not buying crisps because I can't resist them.

My day has been a bit crappy with pain requiring ibuprofen which requires regular snacking. I did ok with mid morning oatcakes but mid afternoon twix was less good! I've stuck to my meal plan so far (wholemeal toast and marmite breakfast, mackerel in spicy tomato sauce on toast for lunch) but the fridge is a wasteland so it might be pizza for tea (at least frozen is better than take away). I've been to to gym (lbt and Pilates) so at least that might offset the cheese a bit!

Sorry to hear about your dad mumslife. I hope you're doing a bit better now Flowers

Well done for losses so far everyone!! I've snacked a bit so far today, which I'm not happy about, but it could have been worse I suppose! Gym first thing tomorrow. Does anyone use any apps for monitoring/recording their weight loss?

tumbletumble · 03/06/2015 06:52

Hello, I haven't posted for a few days but have been trying hard (although Sunday was a bad day). Yesterday was pretty good - chicken and salad for lunch, soup and one slice of toast for supper - except for snacking on the leftovers from my DC's tea Blush

I weighed myself this morning and have lost 2lb Smile

VivaLeBeaver · 03/06/2015 08:14

Yesterday I had.

Banana and belvita biscuits for breakfast
Crackers with Philly for lunch and some melon
Carrot sticks mid afternoon
Dinner was chicken salad and a fruit scone.

VivaLeBeaver · 03/06/2015 08:15

Well done on the loss tumble

holmessweetholmes · 03/06/2015 08:40

Well I've made a pretty good start this morning - a poached egg on toast and a few slices of apple. Haven't weighed myself so don't really know how much I want to lose. Might just go on body shape and not weight.

500Decibels · 03/06/2015 09:21

Well done on losses everyone.
No proper exercise for today except a long walk and some sit ups later.
Planned food for today is
B Alpen porridge. Satsuma.
L pasta salad. Yoghurt.
D salmon and veg.

I've had a couple of not-great days, hence not posting, but trying to stay on track again for next five days as haven't got anything major on... I am finding that I'm constantly thinking about food still, which is frustrating. Also feel really unmotivated to do any exercise since I put my back out, but think I will try and do a very short, gentle walk/run this avvo to kick start the regime again.

Today's meals are:
Cereal Bar
Spinach Soup with leftover chicken & noodles from last night
At Friends for dinner, so not sure, but will try very hard to stay away from the crisps!

Friend's wedding is in less than two weeks ago now, and feeling a bit less huge in my outfit, but could definitely do with losing a bit more. Even my feet seem to have put on weight and I can't fit into my shoes anymore - grr!

Hope everyone doing well and not too hungry!

I'm using myfitnesspal to track things Zoeee88 seems to pretty good. You can track measurements rather than weight which I find more useful and less demotivating.

I'm trying very hard to stick to a vegan diet (I'm not vegan but I did the Veganuary challenge and lost 10lbs without even thinking about it. If I do it properly (no rubbish) and excerise too who knows what will happen. I've also been trying to drink a glass of water before I eat and to eat slowly and chew my food very well, It sounds daft, but I think half the reason I over eat is because I eat far too quickly. Anyway, I figure it's worth a go.

For breakfast I had a slice of sourdough toast with peanut butter and a cup of black earl grey.

I've just had hummous and sliced pepper but I may need someting else because I'm pretty hungry. What do you do when you're hungry? Water or green tea (or similar)?

For dinner I'm planning a 'risotto' made with farro dicocco and a salad.

Mumslife - your username is too close to mine! This thread ain't big enough for the both of us! Grin

I'm sticking to the no snacking pretty religiously now - so yes, today is going fine again!

I haven't really shared my food so far, but my plan is generally protein/fat, low carb breakfast, lowish carb lunch and normal dinner, but slightly smaller portion. The low carb is just so I don't feel hungry as eating them just makes me hungrier. No snacks at all, and no puddings for now. I'm not counting calories, but I'm thinking about it a bit and do have a general idea form calorie counting in the past, so just aiming for 200-300 breakfast, up to 500 lunch and up to 700 dinner. Hopefully I'm getting it vaguely right!

Today was 2 eggs and 1/3 tin of beans for breakfast. Homemade butternut squash and lentil soup with a little ham and half a slice of buttered granary bread. Dinner is yet to be sorted, but last nights was grilled chicken, peppers, tomato, yoghurt and wholemeal pitta followed by 14k on the exercise bike!

holmessweetholmes · 03/06/2015 16:18

Withasponge - I'm a ridiculously fast eater too, but find it really hard to slow down. The water thing makes sense, but I'm sure I've read somewhere that drinking it just before a meal dilutes your digestive juices, making you not digest your food as well. Could have imagined it though... Grin Will go and check.

holmessweetholmes · 03/06/2015 16:20

Ok just checked. Apparently that's bollocks Confused. Water before /during meals is good. As you were.

Today going well. Nothing for breakfast (I think the thing about no breakfast being unhealthy is now thought to be incorrect?? Anyway I'm never hungry at breakfast). Chicken ramen for lunch. Strawberries for a snack. Lunch will be grilled salmon with salad and veg.

PurpleDaisies · 03/06/2015 19:11

I'm much better today mumslife thanks. Unfortunately today turned into a mega work day and two of my pupils put out whole plates of biscuits and my will power failed massively! 8 biscuits today. 8!!! I think I may be going cold turkey on biscuits for a while as I clearly can't control myself.

Meals have been better (wholemeal toast, spicy mackerel on toast lunch then paneer and veg curry with rice). I'm planning an oatcake snack at 9pm. Went to the gym this morning for a killer session with my personal trainer. I am aching already but feels good!

I've been snacking a fair bit today it feels like, BUT I did good gym session this morning so it sort of isn't so bad? I've definitely been more conscious of my snacking though. Still, didn't pick up a snacking habit overnight, I won't lose it over night...

Hello!

So far, 2 eggs and one rasher of bacon for breakfast. (need to get more imaginative with breakfast!).
Random lunch of pastrami, grated carrot salad and tomato and homous with half a slice of buttered granary.
No snacks, just tea.
OH is currently making chicken and chickpea curry - it's a BBC good food recipe, I love their recipes and eat them most of the time. Have loads of cookbooks, but don't actually use them!

PurpleDaisies · 04/06/2015 17:58

I'm a big fan of the good food website too mugs. I like (hate!) how it gives nutritional information on the recipes as well. I had scrambled eggs for breakfast, and an omelette and kale crepe at Starbucks for lunch (no salads left and it looked like the best option). Much nicer than it sounded. I think I will be getting fed up of eggs soon too. Alternative breakfast suggestions gratefully received (I am generally really hungry and I don't like porridge).

I've made a huge vat of beef and veg stew in the oven for tea (half is going to a friend who has just had a baby). Starving now so trying to distract myself! Snacking has been better today...three oatcakes and Philadelphia mid morning and that's it. No exercise though-still in pain from Tuesday!
