Does anyone want to join me in 3 healthy meals a day and no snacking plan?

I'm an overweight grazer and feel like I've lost my way totally.
I eat far too much and hardly remember what feeling hungry feels like.
I'm not going to be strict about what I eat - just normal sensible meals with vegetables. If I eat out then I'll make a healthy choice.
Anyone fancy it?

Get well soon Meers

500Decibels · 28/05/2015 09:42

Hope you feel better soon Meers.
Flap I have this one www.amazon.co.uk/Davina-Three-Minute-Workouts-DVD/dp/B000AYQJIS

I like the pump and cardio box bit. You need hand weights for pump and it feels like a more gentle shred. There are fat burn intervals and then weights and lunges etc.
cardio box is like a boxersise session. They're all 30 mins each.

Oh it's also an older DVD so you have to put up with music like Fatboy Slim Grin

I've got my p today and am craving snacks! I crave salt and carbs and have already had cheese on a cracker and some crisps.
I'm confessing here so it puts me off snacking any more.
I'm doing really well and really don't want to undo my good work.

I love a bit of Fatboy Slim Grin! Thanks for the recommendation and, now, move away from the snack drawer!! You are doing SO well. My P coming soon and I know I will want to murder someone without the comfort of junk. It's hard but WE CAN DO IT, can't we?!

500Decibels · 28/05/2015 13:45

Well I'm managing to have some self control. I've been sipping on red bush and vanilla tea and trying to keep busy.
I've just thrown the kids into the garden and enjoyed a stodgy lunch by myself of veggie sausages, beans and a couple of boiled potatoes followed by a banana in a bit of custard.
It's quite satisfying and a lot more healthy than what I'd normally have!
Now I just have to make it to dinner.

Day 2 today, managed yesterday without any snacks, but I feel so hungry today. Caved in to a small amount of innocent smoothie before lunch - not the worst snack but prob too much sugar really. Still felt hungry after eating lunch - really need to work on getting more filling healthy lunches in me!

I had brie and cheddar with one slice of sourdough bread with apple and cherry tomatoes. Only two hours to go until dinner!

mmm banana custard....

flapinko · 28/05/2015 21:40

I didn't do so well today as ended up at a friend's house drinking wine on a late playdate, and consequently snacking as it was so long since I'd had lunch and my stomach was literally growling (again).. I clearly don't do well with hunger!

B: Poached eggs on rye bread
L: Chilli with brown rice and a couple of cheeky biscuits for pud
Snack - couple of fish fingers & glass of white wine
D: Salmon and new potato salad

Fairenuff · 28/05/2015 22:12

Hi all, mind if I join? I started doing this no snacking coincidentally last Friday, so finding you all here seems like the right place for me. My first weigh in will be tomorrow. It's been ok, keeping calories as low as possible and I've been out for a walk every day.

VivaLeBeaver · 28/05/2015 22:45

Hi Farienuff.

I've had a bad day today.

Bagel and Philly for breakfast.
Pizza express superfood salad for lunch which was yummy and only 350 calories. I did share some dough balls with dd.

Then a massive bit of chocolate cake this afternoon.

Haven't had any dinner as I feel so bad.

Have walked just under 15,000 steps.

meerschweinchen · 29/05/2015 08:03

Well I've just weighed myself and I've lost 5lbs! Really pleased, although I do think it's partly due to being ill for a day this week. Also when I first weighed myself last week my weight was a couple of lbs heigher than I was expecting. I know my weight does fluctuate a bit. But anyway, I'm still pretty pleased. Just need to keep it up now!

Viva your day yesterday doesn't sound that bad at all, especially as you skipped dinner to make up for the cake.

Hope everyone else has a good day, and good results if you're also weighing in today.

Fairenuff · 29/05/2015 08:33

Try not to let it derail you Viva, today is a new day and a new opportunity.

Wow meer, what a great start. I've have also weighed in today and have lost 4lb this week Smile

500Decibels · 29/05/2015 12:28

Well done Meers and Fair! That's a really brilliant start.
I'm not weighing myself as firstly, I had a very gluttonous weekend and secondly, I have monthly bloat. I don't want to feel down because of the scales when I know I'm doing ok.
Do far so good today. I'm aiming to do an exercise DVD later

Well done Meers, that's amazing!

VivaLeBeaver · 29/05/2015 15:09

Just weighed myself and am 89.5kg so have lost 0.7kg which is 1.5lbs.

Would have liked it to have been more but at least it's in the right direction.

MugsLife · 29/05/2015 15:23

Doing ok again on day 3. I think this is usually the hardest part of the day, but a filling breakfast and lunch are keeping me going to no caving into snacks so far!

I did 25 mins on the exercise bike last night - I think this could be a exercise revelation for me!

VivaLeBeaver · 29/05/2015 19:20

Not as much walking today due to 5 hour car journey. Done a 20 min kettlebell workout which has just about killed me.

Bagel and Philly for breakfast
Ham and cheese baguette for lunch
A very naughty 2x cadburys mini rolls
Lentil and beetroot salad.

500Decibels · 30/05/2015 08:31

We'll done Viva! That's a fab result. Carry on like that and you'll be a stone down in 9 weeks or so.

I had a headache yesterday so didn't do any exercise. I'll try to get a run in today.

I just weighed myself and am 2 lbs down!

VivaLeBeaver · 30/05/2015 10:30

Well done Decibels, that's brilliant.

I was reading an article yesterday saying that the normal advice about slow and steady weight loss been the best might not be right. There was some study that looked at groups of people who lost weight, they classed them as slow, moderate or fast losers. Long term the faster the weight loss the more weight loss there was overall and the more likely it was to be kept off.

They felt that slower losers got fed up and thought it wasn't worth it so gave up. Also that faster losers made more dramatic changes to their lifestyle.

I think under 1lb a week was slow loss, 1lb to 2lb was moderate and over 2lb was fast.

I've just got back from an 8 mile bike ride. Will walk the dog later.

meerschweinchen · 30/05/2015 11:09

Well done everyone on your weight losses.

I really need to up my exercise now, like viva and 500. I'm just so busy at the moment, it's hard to find time. Work will get easier in a couple of weeks, so I'll have more time then, but I really want to get on with it now. Will have to find a spare 30 mins (or just sleep less! Sad)

That's really interesting research viva I guess any weight loss is good, it's more whether you maintain it or not, I suppose.

Fairenuff · 30/05/2015 11:28

Well done 500, keep going Smile

I think it's hard to maintain a diet long term which is why 'slow and steady' often fails. Also I think losing the weight itself is a motivation to keep trying.

However, changing lifestyle, slowly and permanently is the best way to keep it off. It takes time to change habits so that they become ingrained and slow and steady is more likely to achieve that imo.

tumbletumble · 30/05/2015 12:13

Hello, can I join you please? I would like to lose weight by being sensible rather than calorie counting etc. Here are my aims:

  1. Make healthy choices.
  2. Cut down portion sizes, especially carbs.
  3. And the main one is NO SNACKING between meals - this is my downfall!

I started yesterday. Around mid-afternoon I felt really really hungry, but I didn't snack and made it through to supper successfully!

Well done on the weight losses!

VivaLeBeaver · 30/05/2015 12:36

Hello and welcome Tumble.

Yes, I'm hoping that changes which I make will become a permanent thing for me. So looking at it as a healthy lifestyle kick rather than a diet.

MugsLife · 30/05/2015 13:04

Hello tumble!
Sounds very sensible :) I'm only on day 4, but I'm liking this 'diet' so far.

Reducing carbs, particularly bread, is making it a lot easier to not get too hungry between meals.
