Does anyone want to join me in 3 healthy meals a day and no snacking plan?

I'm an overweight grazer and feel like I've lost my way totally.
I eat far too much and hardly remember what feeling hungry feels like.
I'm not going to be strict about what I eat - just normal sensible meals with vegetables. If I eat out then I'll make a healthy choice.
Anyone fancy it?

Hi all.
Yesterday was a good day food wise, just biccys, dry cereal and a salad.
But that was only because we missed tea to rush to an awards thing for DD2, which ran so long over that it was half nine before we got home, so we all just bailed to bed.

So far today I've had my usual lunch salad, and have done 30 miles on my bike. Got back in time to change, and run out to get the girls from school - cut it a bit fine.

We have the body fat scales, but I don't use that bit as I think they're a bit crap. I wee then weigh in undies and a t-shirt, and I always move the scales to the middle of the same tile in the bathroom!

Having trouble keeping my jeans up (although they're still tight in the thy), so may need to look out my belt for the first time in years...small progress.

I'm just back from a pathetically short run. I don't know why I chose school finishing time on a boiling hot day with no breeze to make my outdoor running debut but it wasn't pretty. I ran the whole mile (had originally planned double that) in about 9 minutes but feeling a bit like a failure. I'm back in my usual dress size but still feeling like a lumpy elephant. Really not looking forward to weekend away where swimwear is going to have to make an appearance. Ho hum. I don't think I've been strict enough with my eating. I think I might finally give in to MFP and start calorie counting.

I'm meeting some uni mates in four weeks so I really want to lose the last 1.5kg by then.

Sorry for the wall of negativity. I know things are going in the right direction. Patience was never my forte!

B honey porridge made with water
L 2 poached eggs, beans, 2 slices brown toast
Snack crisps (really need to ditch these)
T vegetable curry with chick peas

MugsLife · 25/06/2015 17:16

Yesterday was a day off, but I think most of my calories came from beer...

Today:
B: bacon sandwich for the hangover
L: shapers sushi and innocent smoothie
D: fishfingers beans and mash (just about to eat).

Not the best day nutritionally either, but the best I could do!

VivaLeBeaver · 25/06/2015 17:59

Had an ok day today.

Spinach smoothie for breakfast
Tiny portion of cheesy nachos for lunch
Baked trout, potatoes and peas for dinner.

Then had a choc ice!

Biked 12 miles and walked 11,000 steps.

MugsLife · 26/06/2015 16:38

So far I've had

B: porridge
L: omelette with tomato and a sprinkle of cheese and half slice of buttered toast

Dinner will be on the move as we are just about to head off, so planning to find something healthy in tescos while DH and DS have chips!

Wedding tomorrow, so I rather think it's rude not too eat the food, so I will do! But I'll try not to eat too much - although at this point I do think I've managed to curb my appetite quite a lot so that should help.

ruthbo100 · 26/06/2015 22:15

Why eat low fat/sugar meals? It took me years to realise this just caused cravings for all those high fat/sugar extras, i.e. cakes, biscuits, crisps etc and I ate more fats and everything else in the long run. Now fine with eating 3 meals a day, none of them low fat.

MugsLife · 28/06/2015 10:17

welcome to the thread ruth... Is your comment aimed at someone in particular? This thread is about eating three meals a day, no snacking, not about eating low fat foods.

I've had a v busy week with assignments to complete, sports days and a couple of social events.
I've tried not to snack but sometimes it's been difficult.
It's back to being less hectic now so getting organised again.

Hi everyone,
I've been away at Centerparcs so it has been difficult to stick to healthy eating but it hasn't been as horrendous as it might have been. I was really busy doing stuff so there wasn't all that much time for snacking and I managed to run, swim, bike ride and play tennis. McDonald's for tea (oops) but back to the plan tomorrow.

MugsLife · 28/06/2015 21:10

I've been at a wedding, so not the best weekend, but I don't think I went overboard. Managed to not eat too much today also, despite breakfast hotel buffet and family barbecue. I will stick to it this week, but probably not so much next week as it's a holiday. Really hope I don't gain with all this!

500Decibels · 29/06/2015 09:32

Looks like a few of us are getting back to it today.
I'm starting the 30 day abs and squat challenge today. Hopefully that will help me to start looking a bit more 'pulled in' rather than a blob of jelly.

It's this if anyone else wants to try it

Does anyone want to join me in 3 healthy meals a day and no snacking plan?

Great idea, thanks 500! I'm sort of doing the couch to 5k and hopefully once the flab on top goes there will be some abs underneath.

I had the worst bout of insomnia I've had in ages and tired makes me eat junk so I'll be doing a lot of distracting myself today.

Plan is breakfast: wholemeal toast and Philadelphia cheese
Lunch: homemade veg soup
Tea: prawn skewers with roast veg cous cous

MugsLife · 29/06/2015 17:51

today I have had:

B: porridge
L: scramble egg on one toast
D: bolognese sauce with peas and cheese

I will probably have a banana with yoghurt later so I can try to curb my nightime hunger.

I have been getting on my exercise bike every other day when I've been home, but mostly been away last week.

MugsLife · 30/06/2015 18:03

Today I have had:

B: one toast with peanut butter
L: omellette with tomato, one slice of serrano ham on top, sprinkle of cheese, salad.
D: seabass fillet with fennel, pepper and olives, a little mash.
A very naughty french fancy!!

I've been working hard hoovering the car and cleaning the house in this heat so I think I've done my exercise!

MugsLife · 01/07/2015 15:10

Have you all just melted in the heat? I'm think I'm about to give in to ice cream...

PurpleDaisies · 01/07/2015 15:29

I am absolutely boiling here. It is too hot for me! I actually really enjoyed the gym this morning because of the air conditioning. Currently flopped out on the sofa in front of a fan...

You should definitely get ice cream mugs, it is an exceptional circumstance! Actually the ice lollies are really low calorie. I had a mojoto one the other day which was really nice.

At least the heat has curbed my appetite a bit.
B toast and Philadelphia
L quorn and veg Asian style soup
Apple
T random veg curry, possibly with a cheeky ice cream for pudding.

MugsLife · 01/07/2015 17:33

It is too hot for me too! I'm mostly just hiding indoors, so it was just ice cream from the freezer for me this afternoon. It was only 150 calories worth so I'm not feeling too guilty.

tumbletumble · 01/07/2015 18:28

I like the heat! It was very warm for DS2's sports day today though!

I have fallen off the wagon a bit recently. Back on it today though:

B porridge
L stir fry veg with brown rice
snack yoghurt

Not sure about supper yet...
A

tumbletumble · 01/07/2015 18:29

Sorry about the random A at the end of my post!

MugsLife · 01/07/2015 21:09

Today I have had

B: scrambled egg. Peach
L: makerel salad
D: chicken thigh and summer veg with new potatoes
Snack: ice cream off course!

Massive craving for refreshing ice tea...

MugsLife · 02/07/2015 17:57

Today:

B: peanut butter on toast
L: 2 rashers of yummy butchers bacon, beans, buttered bread, half fried egg Blush
D: pork steak in marmalade sauce, new potatoes, steamed veg

No snacks, but felt very tempted today!

This thread seems to be dwindling, but I really think this simple no snacking (most of the time) plan really works for me!

PurpleDaisies · 02/07/2015 21:05

I'm still here! And really enjoying the thread-the no (low) snack policy is working for me too!

Busy day baking today so eating has been a bit chaotic.
Lemon curd on toast for breakfast, raw cake batter snack (it was tidying up so doesn't count), small portion leftover veg curry lunch, buttercream snack (more tidying up) and quorn and oven chips for tea. Not ideal but better than the McDonalds I wanted!
