Does anyone want to join me in 3 healthy meals a day and no snacking plan?

I'm an overweight grazer and feel like I've lost my way totally.
I eat far too much and hardly remember what feeling hungry feels like.
I'm not going to be strict about what I eat - just normal sensible meals with vegetables. If I eat out then I'll make a healthy choice.
Anyone fancy it?

Hi everyone (special welcome to cashew).

Busy weekend but was doing lots of nice things. I did enjoy my takeaway on Friday mugs (my husband very kindly ate the leftovers). Yesterday was a pretty good day with a 1200m swim, although the usual danger time of 10am was a problem again and I ended up snacking on bread and lemon curd.

Today has been a bit of a disaster area. Technically no snacking but we had friends around for lunch and I made steak and ale pie, mashed potato with peas and broccoli. I tried to fill up on veggies but it was hard! Chocolate key lime pie for pud. At least I made a small one do there are no leftovers. I'm so full I will skip tea. Maybe the extra calories from will even out across the two meals!? Dieting is so difficult!

PurpleDaisies · 21/06/2015 18:52

10pm is my snack danger zone, not 10am!

cashewnutty · 21/06/2015 18:57

Okay then. Here is my day in food (and drink)

Breakfast:
2 poached eggs on toast and a banana

Lunch:
Chicken, coleslaw and tomato sandwich. Raspberry low fat yogurt

Dinner:
Home made lasagne (used skimmed milk and half fat cheese for the sauce)

Snack:
One nectarine

Drinks:
Fathers Day so took DH to pub
2x G and slimline tonic
1/3 bottle white wine

I know the drinks weren't the best idea but i already had Father's Day planned. At least i had no other snacks. Normally i would be awash with crips and chocolate by now. We also walked the dog on the beach so i got a bit of exercise.

Today I have had:

B: porridge
L: ham and cheese sandwich
D: random meal that my father-inlaw threw together - chicken and veg with packet cheese and brocolli pasta

I resisted the custard tart for pudding even though I adore them!!

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 22/06/2015 07:52

Duvet day at home yesterday.
b. coffee and 3 belvita biscuits.
l. ham and cheese salad with a slice of bread.
t. Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, few roast potatoes, carrots and beans with gravy.
I did 10k steps by marching round the house. My family have now confirmed that I am crackers.
1100cal in, 250 out, so not too bad.

I've been away from home so couldn't weigh myself. I normally do it first thing in the morning, but I came home at 11 and jumped on the scales and I've dropped 2lb! Half a stone in total in 4 weeks - I am delighted! :)

I'm back after being awol and a bad week or ten days.

Dh came back from a trip with chocolates and cheese and ive been speaking at a conference where ive been put up in a hotel and wined and dined for three days!

Just weighed myself and I'm 88.5kg so about half a kg heavier than when I last weighed myself but importantly im still lighter than when I'm started! Back on it now!

MugsLife · 23/06/2015 08:53

Another 1lb less this morning when I was able to weigh myself first thing :)

DH's birthday is tomorrow so it might be a bit of a day off as we will be eating eat an drinking in the evening. A wedding this weekend too so hopefully I'll just get through both without put anything on!

cashewnutty · 23/06/2015 10:42

Yesterday i had:

Breakfast:
Sugar free muesli and berries with skimmed milk.

Lunch:
Salad with avocado, turkey and egg. A few cherries. I had this at 11.30 am due to work stuff.

At 5pm it was obvious work was going to over run so i ate a Special K bar i found in the side pocket of the police car i was in! (I work along with the Police)

Dinner:
Left over lasagne. Small amount of red wine left over from the weekend.

Snack:
A few brazil nuts/dried fruit as i was still hungry before i went to bed.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 23/06/2015 10:56

Good day yesterday...
b. belvita biscuits 3.
l. salad with ham and cheese, salad cream.
t. bowl of aldi special k stuff (dry), half a cantaloupe.
2 more belvita biccys with latte when DP got home.

I made the dc's a lovely creamy bacon & pea pasta, looked up similar stuff on mfp, and the calories!!! Couldn't bring myself to have some.

So 900cals in, about 350 out (10k steps, 2 mile brisk dog walk).

Am finally down half a kilo too. But my flappy tummy definitely feels smaller.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 23/06/2015 12:09

Just checked the NHS BMI thngy, and I am back into the green! I was a bit sick the last time I checked it, and I was in the yellow overweight bit. To be fair I was heavier then than I was when overdue with DS (my biggest baby), but still a shock that I'd sort of not noticed two stone creeping on.

The goal weight I've set myself will put me right in the middle of the green, so not unreasonable I think.

Been eating loads of sweets today. They don't count, right?

MugsLife · 23/06/2015 12:36

Well done on hitting green knitting! I still have 11lb to go before getting there. Hopefully I can get there in 5/6 weeks fingers crossed!

That's fab news knitting! My weight hasn't changed much this morning (down 100g which is the equivalent of a wee!) but my waist is 2in smaller so I'm pretty pleased. It is still difficult not to get obsessed with the number on the scales though.

Yesterday was a lovely day out with my best friend so you can imagine the eating. Today is better-scrambled egg (no bread in the house so no toast), falafel and tabbouleh salad in caffe Nero (really nice) and planning to make fish cakes for tea with leftover mash from Sunday dinner. Center parcs this weekend so the dreaded bikini is coming out...

MugsLife · 23/06/2015 17:45

Purple your scales are so accurate! Mine doesn't even do 1/2 lbs!

B: one toast with peanut butter
L: ham salad with a little mayo and cheese
D: homemade tandoori chicken, half mini naan, spicy veg, yoghurt

I was so starving and struggling to concentrate this afternoon so I did have half a scone with jam!

Also had yoghurt and banana last night because I was starving, but still could sleep because I was so hungry :( I'm struggling a bit today so it might be good to have an off day tomorrow as a bit of a break.

OurGlass · 23/06/2015 17:46

Place marking!

PurpleDaisies · 23/06/2015 18:54

Mugs my scales is set to measure in kg (precision 0.1kg) but to be honest I doubt the accuracy...I usually step on three times and take an average because it doesn't reach the same every time. I might upgrade!

I don't know how I thought making fish cakes would be quick and easy (most of my kitchen is now covered in flour, egg and breadcrumbs) but they did taste really nice.

Mugs it sounds like you aren't eating enough if you're so hungry you can't sleep. That must be really miserable.

MugsLife · 23/06/2015 19:39

It's only the second time it's happened, but no it's not great. I'm trying to make sure I eat at least the recommended 1200 calories (roughly working it out as I'm not officially counting), but maybe that's just not enough for me.

Fishcakes are a faff, but it's the sort of thing you can in bulk make and chuck in the freezer so you can feel smug every time you whip them out for weeks to come!

I also do the scale hop! I also frequently ask it "are you sure?!"

PurpleDaisies · 23/06/2015 19:42

Have you done the "the scales say I am too heavy strip/wee then try again" weigh in? I am very glad my husband leaves for work before I do or he's think I was mad.

:) I always wee first, and I'm glad my husband didn't catch me stripping in the only part of the kitchen I hope my neighbours can't overlook me this morning!! My big fleecy dressing gown adds one pound!!

Maybe I should eat a little more, it's tricky to get the right balance.
