Does anyone want to join me in 3 healthy meals a day and no snacking plan?

I'm an overweight grazer and feel like I've lost my way totally.
I eat far too much and hardly remember what feeling hungry feels like.
I'm not going to be strict about what I eat - just normal sensible meals with vegetables. If I eat out then I'll make a healthy choice.
Anyone fancy it?

I was saved by the Chinese being closed on Tuesdays! Felt virtuous having veggie curry (sauce from a jar but better than take away!).

I'm back down to my end of week 1 loss of 1kg now which I'm pleased about. It is so much easier to keep going if things are moving in the right direction. Today I've been to the gym for a personal trainer session. Ouch already and I'm not sure I'll be able to move tomorrow.

B cornflakes
Snack yoghurt and sweet and salty popcorn
L wholemeal pitta, edamame bean dip and grilled peppers
T cous cous with chick peas, roast vegetables and a spicy tomato sauce

Had a few terribly busy days, and not checked in as I've been snacking and not eating proper meals (as per usual). I guess that's my default.

Yesterday I had go ahead apple slice things for breakfast, almost a full packet of nice biscuits from about 11-4pm (I had forgotten how nice they were), and sausages, boiled potatoes, broccoli, gravy and two Yorkshire puds for tea. Plus a few snacks of crisps etc.

Today I've had aldi breakfast biscuits, a bag of sunbites and a greggs sugar strand doughnut for lunch.

Will weigh myself tomorrow, but not hopeful. I feel like a stagnant slug.

Terrible day for me yesterday (went out to dinner and gorged!), so have tried to offset it a bit today:

B: 2 x hard boiled eggs
L: Miso soup + Alpen Light bar
D: Goats cheese salad + strawberries

About to have a beer too, but just the one!
Hope you're feeling less like a 'stagnant slug' today I'dStillRather. We all have our off days (or off weeks in my case!) so try not to be so hard on yourself.

500Decibels · 17/06/2015 21:48

Lol at stagnant slug. It must be a common feeling as you've put how I feel perfectly.

Despite feeling like that, I've been v busy too and not checked in. I've been sticking to 3 meals a day quite easily as I've been busy. I've discovered my new favourite lunch.
Toasted rye bread (I've given up normal bread as of this week) with pan fried (tiny bit of oil) reduced fat holloumi and tomatoes and basil. Plus leaves.
Cycling and running too but Imstill so fat! Why does it take so long?

Today was ok.

No breakfast
Lunch: jacket potato with beans, yoghurt
Snack: ONE biscuit! Smile
Supper: fish, ratatouille

Weekend was bad though, so not optimistic about losing this week.

MugsLife · 17/06/2015 23:18

Glad you all here and still sticking to it at least some of the time! Rye bread and squeaky cheese lunch sounds lovely!

It does take so long doesn't it. The most we can hope for is probably 2lb a week and that is blooming hard! But if I do manage it I can lose a stone in just 7 weeks and no longer have an overweight bmi! So that sounds very good to me (although I have a holiday and a wedding in the next 7 weeks, so I will just have to see!).

MugsLife · 18/06/2015 18:24

Today I have had:

B: scrambled egg on one wholemeal toast buttered
L: ham, salad and a tiny portion of homemade Potatas Bravas (I was cooking for 5 of us)
D: spring chicken in a pot. A good food recipe that was delicious and only 339 calories a portion apparently.

Last night I was so hungry I kept waking up, that's the first time that has happened and I hope it doesn't again!

Not too bad a day here. I went to body combat for the first time in a month and I was practically glowing afterwards. I'd forgotten how nice my skin feels after getting a proper sweat on so I was pretty pleased with myself.

I'm struggling with before bed hunger too. A couple of times I've ended up stuffing my face. I am debating adding a healthy snack (or maybe delaying pudding) to get around it. Trying to sleep while hungry is miserable!

B wholemeal pitta with edamame bean dip
L same as breakfast (!) plus half a piece of bread with homemade lemon curd (not made by me, absolutely delicious) and a fun size Milky Way
T chick pea curry with half a small naan, small portion of rice and cottage cheese. I've been craving frazzles so I had them as a pudding!

MugsLife · 18/06/2015 20:55

Hungry nights are not fun! But I do think having a long fast time from dinner to Breakfast is good, I just think I need to make sure I still get sufficient calories in the day. I was starving just now, so I've just eaten a banana with natural yoghurt, which I think isn't too bad as I was massively craving chocolate!!

Me and my husband used to happily eat 3-4 100g bars of chocolate each week! I'm thinking that might be why I'm fat Shock

Yesterday was ok ish

B: porridge
L: jacket potato with tuna
S: couscous with roasted veg
Plus lots of snacks Blush but all fairly healthy I think - a banana, a plum, a boiled egg, an ice lolly

Weighed in this morning and I've lost 1lb! Really pleased - the weekend was bad but I seem to have made up for it in the week. My total is 6lb in 3 weeks, so 2lb a week, just like MugsLife says. I really need to keep going now - the first 6lb is a good start but not very noticeable, but if I can carry on like this then I should start seeing a difference.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 19/06/2015 07:54

Yesterday was not too bad,
b. aldi breakfast biscuits
l. salad with a slice of haslet, walnuts and Cheshire cheese (my absolute weakness)
t. small chicken thy, carrots broccoli and a handful of oven chips (which I fried). Aldi blueberry seed bar.

I think pudding saved for before bed is a great idea. I tend to work once the house has gone to sleep, so 11-1am ish, and go to bed hungry.

Will be pizza and cake again today as it's DD2's birthday.

MugsLife · 19/06/2015 09:08

That's great tumble! I'm behind you as I've only lost 5lb in 3.5 weeks. I'm hoping it's just because it's my time of the month tomorrow so I hope to drop a bit more next week! Still I am very happy that it is working at all as it's the first time I have ever sucessfully dieted! I do actually feel a difference, I just feel less heavy in my tummy, although all my fat bits feel more jiggly Blush. Some of my clothes feel more comfortable too. I'm sure another stone will make a huge difference.

MugsLife · 19/06/2015 18:11

Today I have had:
B: 2 runny boiled eggs. I tried asparagus as dippers, but my asparagus wasn't so nice so I had some bread soldiers!
L: leftovers of veg and chicken dinner purreed into a soup with a some feta
D: roasted aubergine with tomatoes and cheese, new potatoes, 2tsp of mayo.

PurpleDaisies · 19/06/2015 18:38

We're celebrating my work finishing for this academic year with a take away (which I am determined not to feel guilty for). As long as am eating well most of the time an occasions treat is ok I think.

I've been swimming (1 mile, half breast stroke, half front crawl). I am really aching now but that's probably good!

Food has been good until now...
B wholemeal pitta with light Philadelphia
L scrambled egg on wholemeal toast, yoghurt and a small piece of flapjack
T Chinese take away (special occasion and small portion)

Lot of people losing now...well done everyone!

MugsLife · 19/06/2015 22:06

purple - hope you enjoyed the takeaway! I think it the odd treat doesn't matter, as long as you don't go too overboard. Last weekend one of my days was: B: bacon and egg sandwich, L: hog roast sandwich, D: half portion of fish and chips and a snack of half a pint of beer :)

Not so good end to the day, but it's been a busy day and I was starving!

B: porridge
L: 2 egg omelette with baby plum tomatoes, 1 slice of serano ham and a sprinkle of cheddar. Some mango.
D: (at a friends house who wasn't expecting me!) 3 fish fingers, 1 potato waffle, sweetcorn and other veg.
Snacks: natural yoghurt and banana, half pack of cheesy wotsit type things, a mug of hot milk and 2 small shortbread biscuits!! I was just so hungry!!

cashewnutty · 21/06/2015 08:57

Hello folks and a special hello to mugslife who directed me to this thread. I was looking for some inspiration on how to lose weight without starving or counting calories/points.

So, here i am. My details are age 52, 5'6" and just over 13st. My down falls are crisps, chocolate/cake/biscuits, wine and cheese. I am a terrible snacker. This needs to stop.

I am at an age where i don't lose weight quickly so i am happy with a slow loss. Some of you on this thread are doing so well.

I have started this morning with 2 poached eggs on a slice of toast plus a banana. I will be back later to update and i will try to post what i have eaten each evening.

Have a good Sunday!

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 21/06/2015 09:22

Yesterday was ok
b. handful of walnuts
l. sunflower and honey roll
t. Burger King whopper and sprite (no chips)
e. 27 miles on bike.
I have started back with mfp as I find it easier when I keep track (1300 in, 850 out)
Am down about 3lb since I started, so loss is a bit slower than I'd like. Will see hiw I go with mfp.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 21/06/2015 09:26

Hi cashewnutty! I'm finding this thread really useful. I want to shed another stone and a bit really, but it comes off sooo slowly.

MugsLife · 21/06/2015 16:51

Hello Cashew! I hope you find this thread helpful!!
