Hi there I am starting Cambridge next week and have 3 1/4 stone to lose. Be good to chat, share stories and get support and inspiration from each other! Anyone else in the same boat? :)

Philomena, I am veggie and I think they could increase their range of veggie food TBH, so can only comment on those. I LOVE the veggie curry, could eat it every day. Can't wait to get porridge again, raspberry and plain porridge, or apple and cinnamon...all taste like porridge, sweet flavour and makes a generous bowl. My fave bar is almond and cherry, followed by peanut bar (reminds me of reeses)...mushroom is the best soup for me. They even have these pancake mixes and they do taste like scotch pancakes actually...they are good, though I don't desire them so much. The bars feel quite substantial. Smile

Well done girls, keep going!!! Zeis i drink coffee and diet coke and I am firmly in ketosis!!! So don't worry Zeis, just do what works for you and if having a diet coke works then keep going especially as you have had great results!!!!!

Am still feeling great... Am hoping for a good results on the scales this week! Clothes are starting to git better and I am sure my muffin top is shrinking... Smile
Dh who hasn't seen my in a week noticed which was lovely... WinkGrin

Everyone is doing so well!! Brilliant! Ketosis seems to vary person to person. I go into it at anything under 70g of carbs a day. I ahvent really tested the citric acid thing tho
Im wondering what to do abut the Cambridge Diet. Im finding the food packs really poor. And I have had other meal replacements before and am not usually fussy with food. Ontop of that I just cant manage 800 cals a day, even in ketosis. Im eating between 1000 and 1200 and for that dont need a consultant at £46 a week. Im not convinced that pushing harder is a good idea or necessary. Im losing 1.4-2kgs a week. I think that will decrease in time but its not lots I have to lose.

Tempted by descriptions of decent meal replacements on here such as slim n save and exante. Any advice?

And yes, id recommend taking some kind of fibre supplement. I buy psyllum husk from thje local asian shops, pure soluble fibre - v cheap

Bah - peed on a stick yesterday afternoon and was rewarded with a dark purple ketones +++. Then went to the blooming exhibition and drank several glasses of (dry) prosecco... predictavle NOT in ketosis now. On the positive side, I did not eat any nibbles at all, and avoided the 'glass of wine' binge when I got home.... so all is not lost and I was 2.5 lbs lighter on the scales this morning

Philomena I like the lemon yoghurt bars and my favourite shake is the lemon and raspberrey ( so far ) the 'meals' are a bit mushy, but DP said the pizza and the blueberry pancakes were very tasty ..

I've not tried any other VLCD's Firsttimer, but the all the meals I've had on slim and save so far have been nice.

I'm going to get some psyllum husk tomorrow, thanks for the advice.

Today is day 3 for me and I'm really struggling. I woke up and didn't feel starving which was fab, and I felt great (so thought I was in ketosis). Then I had my banoffee porridge at 11am and after that I went downhill. I've felt starving, tired, headachey, cold hands and feet but really hot face and just generally ill. I'm ashamed to say I even shed a few tears and a moan when I cooked my dinner (well, a spicy spaghetti pack with some broccoli) as I'm just SO hungry, the food portion is so small, and I am craving everything. I just want a big fat cheeseburger. Or cheese. Or pizza. Or just a normal meal that I can choose and make for myself. Sigh. Please tell me it gets better?! The only thing that's keeping me going, is the Mac lipstick I've promised myself once I've completed my first week!

The only good thing about it so far, is that I've had a cheeky sneak peak at the scales and I'm down almost 5lbs in 2 days, which is more than I've ever lost in a week! I'm excited to see the weekly weigh in result on Wednesday (which seems soooo far away!)

WisteriaRose it does get better honestly and soon those little meals will fill like too much food!!! It's usually like this until your body gets used to converting the fat in yo energy after that your be get!!!

Still feeling great... Anyone exercising whilst doing this vlcd???

Wisteria - it definitely gets better. The first week was really horrid but now it's easy (ish).
Every time you feel hungry/sick/cold congratulate yourself on getting this far with a large glass of water ;0)

Wisteria sorry you've been feeling so unwell today - well done for keeping going despite that. I've just finished day four of exante products (TS), feel very tired and a bit disspirited as I don't seem to have lost any weight at all. this might be just because it is totm. Also peed on a stick again this evening and NO ketones ; can't understand why that should be I haven't cheated at all today.

I am enjoying the Exante products more than I expected, especially the lemon and raspberry shake , & some of the bars are really quite tasty . I'm also not hungry but I'm craving food in a psychological way - I just want to eat something else AND I want to drink wine because it's Friday night.I haven't cheated at all.

have retired to bed out of temptations way. It would be so much easier if there were some results to hold on to ...

Morning ladies. 36 days done (with a couple of cheats) and total weight loss this morning is 25lb. I'm regretting the cheats though they seem to really set me back. I've got 3 weeks to go in my original time frame. Although I'm finding it so much easier now I've been at it this long I'm tempted to go on till I reach a healthy bmi.

Twinkle - I'm trying to do a lot of walking but I plan to start doing couch to 5k when I'm a bit lighter and I've started eating a bit more. im very unfit and without much fuel I think it would be too difficult for me at the moment.
Have you been exercising?

I'm still feeling crappy. I've been so hungry (and dreaming about bad food!) that I had to have more veg than the 200g allowence. I just feel so empty and like I need more calories (obvs!) So for dinner I had a curry pack, cauli and broccoli and a pack of zero calorie rice (with lots of spices to make it edible!) Felt a bit like a normal meal.

Just want to be in ketosis now! Sorry for moaning btw, but I don't have anyone else to talk to about this...

I'm still going though, as I'm going on holiday in just under 12 weeks and don't want to look how I do now! I just keep saying that this isn't forever, I will eat proper food again and this is just to get me to/close to target, then I can eat healthy yummy foods.

I'm proud that I managed to resist all the yummy smells in town today! I could have easily given in but I was strong :)

You have my sympathy Wisteria. At times I am obsessed with food, with what I could eat, what I can eat, what I want to eat , etc etc. I do find the whole VLCD thing easier because I can only eat what's in the packets. Takes away the choice or the ability to overeat....

I haven't been very hungry on exante stuff, just want to eat something lovely .. I love food. I love preparing it, planning it, cooking it, presenting it, eating it.. I love cook books and baking. I love eating out . This is why I am overweight , and with the menopause imminent I can't bear getting bigger and bigger. I lose my confidence , none of my lovely clothes fit me, only shapeless sacks... So I WILL continue with this diet. Maybe then DP will want to have sex with me again, or maybe not...

Anyway thinks for me, my confidence and my self esteem....

zeiss you are a bit of an inspiration, so are you twinkle

I'm feeling a bit better today. Had a bit of a weird taste in my mouth last night, but it's gone this morning. I felt a bit sick when I woke, but I don't at the moment. I don't feel hungry, I just miss the constant grazing and yummy big meals consisting of whatever I fancy. Hoping that means I'm in/nearly in ketosis. Today is day 5, so hopefully I will be soon!

Tomorrow is going to be a huge challenge- I have to bake a Birthday cake (and not even lick the spoon!) I've told myself if I can make it and resist trying it, then I will treat myself to something (non food).

Still 4 lbs down in 5 completed days and have lost interest in eating today ...

You CAN do that with the cake - I made 36 cup cakes yesterday for DS3 school fair and I did not consume one bit of cake mix, icing or finished product ! Feel vaguely obsessed with sticking to it at the moment :-)

DP says he finds me attractive as I am, and he has been on medication known to affect libido . And our relationship is generally positive loving and affectionate - I just can't shake the belief that my flab is putting him off .. It probably has more to do with me than him, but we haven't had sex since October :-(

no movement on the scales for A Week Sad . but, BUT! I have gone from a tight 20 to a slightly snug 16!!

how come the scales haven't budged?? I even bought new ones just to check. nothing, Nada, zulch movement [baffled]

Hello!!! Well done everyone! Grin I have heard that peeing on those sticks isn't always accurate regarding being in ketosis. Surely the only thing that matters is that you are able to keep going and the weight is coming off? Lemonstartree, thrilled for you that your weight is now coming off!

Although I was planning on keeping going until start of school hols, esp as I am only 4 weeks on Tuesday and I have lost 16 1/2 lbs so far, am now thinking I may take a couple days off here and there as I have a birthday meal to go to, maybe 2. It is 2 1/2 weeks away, but I would rather plan this in carefully, but wondering how it is when you get back into it..is it an awful few days again? [sceptical} I guess it might be! But does the ketosis kick in again in the same way? I am thinking that I lost so much in the 1st week, like 8lbs, then 3 lb a week since then? Scared to disrupt such a good thing!!

Hello everyone! Am I too late to join in? I'm just about to finish my first week on slim and save weighing in for the first time tomorrow morning. I'm feeling pretty optimistic as I've stuck to it 100% I've got a seriously long journey ahead of me though with approximately 12 stone to lose (maybe more as that would still leave me at the top end of a healthy bmi)hope you are all ok and have had a good weekend.

Just completed the weekend without cheating (for once). The weight loss has slowed down so I'm trying to stick to it a bit better to keep the momentum. I actually had a good Saturday night sober just drinking fizzy water. My mates all think I'm pregnant now though. I've told them I'm on a diet but I'm never one to turn down a glass of wine normally. Hopefully I'm finally learning how to live more healthily.

Zeis - whenever I cheat it takes a couple of days feeling rotten to get back in the zone I'm afraid.

Zeis10 I was thinking of hopping out of ketosis for a couple of days but I just couldn't cope with the bad heads and the moodiness... Not only don't think I want to put my family through it again!! Lol
