I managed another day on Total Solution, three packs and nothing else. Two days is the longest run I've managed in weeks so I'm happy!

Hi everyone :) So today is my first day on slim and save. I'm excited and nervous! I've had the porridge made with water and cinnamon this morning, it was better than I expected! Got a bit of a headache already, but that's from not much sleep last night I think. Dreading the next few days, as I'm expecting to feel pretty crappy. Just got to somehow get through the next few days then I should be ok, fingers crossed.

ThatsWotSheSaid that is amazing!! Well done Grin. Oh people can be so unobservant! Also, I wonder if like me and lots of us here I am sure, does your weight fluctuate over the years? If so, people are used to seeing you at different sizes, so maybe they kind of average you out in their heads.

Day 22 and no cheating whatsover, 3 packs a day. Have lost 13lbs. Am feeling more hungry though in week 3, so it is bit harder now. Does anyone else find this that hunger comes back after ketosis has well and truly kicked in? Confused

Wisteria good luck with slim and save - just focus on doing 3 days, after that it gets much better, that first day is awful.
Im amazed at the losses on here. I couldnt get to sleep on just 800 cals last night, my first day on step 2, so I had another 200 cals. Im trying for 800 again today but if I cant do it 1000 cals is still a pretty strict diet altho not vlcd, I guess but for me its more about the meal replacements than being very low cal.

In temrs of people noticing I find it takes people a while - apart from my DH whom I ask constantly so he has to say something!

Are you having diet coke or coke zero? Because diet coke contains citric acid which will keep you drifting in and out of ketosis, it could explain why you're hungry?

Hi everyone. I'm on day 2 following the exante total solution - so 600 kcal /day. so far I feel ok but struggling a bit with hunger and only water to drink.

I understand diet coke is a no no ? but coke zero is ? why is that ?. Also is fizzy water ok?

I'm doing the diet with my DP ( he is on 800 kcal/ day) to try and lose weight before our holiday at the end of July. I feel that meal replacement is much easier than trying to portion control/ calorie control/ carb control... I have in the past lost quite al ot following a low carb diet and know that I felt quite good when in ketosis. Anyone know how long it should take before you get to ketosis? I have POAS today but my urine is so dilute nothing at all showed up! I am SO thirsty though I think I must be in ketosis

I am v short and show every pound of my 10 st 10lb - ideal weight about 81/2 stone. He is much taller but about 15 1/2 stone and aiming for 13 1/2...

You guys have done amazingly well - I hope I am as succesful, hope its ok to join this thread :-)

Also does anyone know how low carbs have to be to become ketotic? Looking at the last two days I have had 50g carb a day and I haven't cheated at all. I notice some low carb diets suggest anything over 20g will stop you going i to ketosis ? any thoughts from you? does exantes 50g carb thing work as well as the much lower carb diets?

Coke zero does not contain citric acid so it's okay. Fizzy water is fine but not flavoured water as it will have citric acid too.

I've been on TS for three days and I'm starting to get into ketosis now (I have ketostix to check), even with a daily cup of coffee with full fat milk on top of my packs. I probably have about 70g of carbs a day. As far as the 20g or less thing goes, I read somewhere that this refers to net carbs, not total carbs so don't worry. The plan works, don't stress too much about it, just keep going and watch the weight fall off!

Lemon... I have less than 20g of carbs a day... And I am firmly in ketosis, it is different for everyone as we are all different shapes and sizes! It's all trial and error.. The vlcd works differently and puts you in ketosis because of the low calories you are consuming and not due to macronutrients!! Cos most of the packs are higher on the carb side I think?? But I could be wrong! I do drink diet coke and free 7up, I use them to fix my sugar craving!

Thanks for all the well wishes girls, I am feeling a lot better pretty much spend the whole day in bed! Nights always muck me up! X

Day three done and dusted, on to day four! Ketostix are showing as trace amounts of ketones so I'm getting there. I've taken advantage of the "buy two, get three free" offer on the Exante website and ordered some of the bars to try as I'm getting sick of my Tesco bars. The offer only applies to the four a day bars but it was the cheapest way to sample them. At least I'll know if I like them so I can add the three a day version to my next big order, which is still a couple of weeks away.

I'm definitely getting there, I'm absolutely freezing even with my huge cardigan and the office heater at my back and I have ketosis death breath, if the taste in my mouth is anything to go by Blush

I'm chugging water to keep it at bay!

Thanks firsttimer :) Day one wasn't too bad really (nowhere near as bad as I was expecting!) but I did go to sleep feeling pretty starving and had a nightmare (though I often have nightmares so I'm used to them!)

Woke up this morning feeling even more hungry, but it passed. I feel fine apart from the hunger that comes in waves and sometimes feeling a little bit slower, like I've had a glass of wine or something! Confused

The packs have actually tasted better than I was expecting. So far I've had porridge with added cinnamon, chicken soup, spaghetti bolognese with 200g broccoli, mint chocolate bar (I sliced and froze- it tasted amazing!) and then this morning, I've had oatmeal with added cinnamon. Going to have a shake, meal and bar later on. Chugging lots of water- 3 litres yesterday, and aiming for the same today.

I did have to keep reassuring myself last night that this isn't forever, and I will have real food again! Grin

Hope everyone else is getting on ok.

Can I join?
I started Slim n Save on Monday and have so far lost 5lbs which I am very pleased with. However, I know I will struggle at the weekend having no 'normal' food so I am planning on switching to Atkins at weekends (have done Atkins in the past but I just can't stomach the amount of meat/cheese etc for longer than 2 weeks and do miss sweet stuff). I am hoping this will keep me in ketosis and I can get back into slim n save from Monday until the next weekend. I am not planning on eating loads of high fat things but maybe salad/fish/eggs etc..
Atkins is less carbs than Slim n Save so I hope I will not gain any weight back even if I don't lose anymore.
Any experiences of this from anyone? Opinions?

hi Ryan I often do that to keep sane. I think it possibly slows me down a little (maybe 1lb per week vs stating completely on.packs) but not massively and I think its worth it to avoid jacking it in!

Hi ryan that sounds like a good idea! Im on day 3 exante, but it is TOTM , so despite being VERY strict and not cheating at all, I feel really bloated atm

am drinking shedloads of coke zero. I know this is not the ideal but struggling today, This evening I have to go to an exhibition and I know there will be wine and other yummy things. I am determined to stay ON the diet and not blow it for a few crisps...

I really want to fit into my clothes again and not feel like a gigantic lump ..

not sure If I am in ketosis yet - surely soon ?

Hello everyone, how are people doing? I have really noticed how different I look, feeling so better, now that I have lost a stone. Am so impressed with this VLCD, have never lost weight so easily before. Adore some of the stuff from Exante..bummed that have run out now of my fave bars, porridge and veggie curry. Using up the stuff I wasn't so keen on now!

Concerned about the Diet Coke comments now. I know that stuff isn't great and I wouldn't normally have 1, or 2 a day, but it helps me get through it and cannot see it is taking me out of ketosis, as how would I losing this weight? Smile
