Hello Lucy & Vino!

Twinkle - I don't know if this is helpful for you, but I like to think that with healthy eating there are no "failures", just steps in the right direction (or often the wrong one, in my case!)

Anyhow, my step in the right direction yesterday was NO BOOZE Smile mainly as I was so exhausted I went straight to bed..

5 mile run
Breakfast: oats & apple, coconut water
Lunch: humous salad wrap, 1 boiled egg
Dinner : tuna sandwich, apple, orange juice
Snack: 2 apples (wish I hadn't eaten these as I wasn't really hungry, just tired)
Tea and coffee and lots of water Smile

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 13/04/2015 08:56

Forgot to include
Supper: prawn salad

Twinklestar2 · 13/04/2015 11:56

Thank you bangers. I might have to get some diet coke to get me through the sugar cravings!

Great menu Penguins!

Just had my porridge (had a lie in Wink), will give my 8-month son his lunch then will go for a run.

Joycey29 · 13/04/2015 12:18

Had full on roast yesterday but then didn't eat supper as was still full. Went for a walk to help get metabolism going ..

Currently choosing between run and kettles cardio class? Not sure which I think would be better??

OP posts:
Penguinotterfoxbadger · 13/04/2015 13:51

Kettle bells prob best for weight loss but personally I'd go for a run because that's what I enjoy Smile

lucylou1977 · 13/04/2015 14:58

bangersmashandbeans I love your wine trick!!

Twinklestar2 I'd have to go cold Turkey on the chocolate too, at least for a few days to kick the habit and then introduce it again but in small quantities. Perhaps try swapping it for dark chocolate (Lindt's 70% is nice)? Even I can't eat more than a few squares of dark chocolate!

SpottyTeacakes · 13/04/2015 18:13

Eugh I feel sick. I was full after half of my dinner but had to eat all of it as I had done my injection for x amount of food and would have had a hypo otherwise. So today's eats:

Breakfast: 2 coffees
Lunch: spaghetti and meatballs at sainsburys cafe plus a coffee
Dinner: two seeded wraps with rocket, peppers, onion, tomato, grated carrot, chicken, avocado and a bit or salad cream.

Twinklestar2 · 13/04/2015 18:29

Thx Lucy for the tipSmile

So today I've had

Porridge

Ham sandwich and a scrambled egg sandwich

Alpen light bar and a handful of grapes

3 mile run Grin

Dinner is pork fried rice with added veg and I might have a handful of prawn crackers with it. I do weight watchers and this would be well within my points for the day.

bangersmashandbeans · 13/04/2015 20:28

Managed day one!
No brekkie
Pitta with beetroot tzatsiki for lunch
Low cal hot choc
Bulgar wheat salad (honestly it's nice!) with chicken breast for dinner
NO WINE!
No exercise as kids on inset day but hit 12000 steps (I wear a fit bit) and only eaten 1000 cals so feeling good

Joycey29 · 13/04/2015 22:09

Kettles was great and probably as enjoyable as a long run but burnt more calories!
Fitness pal says I m well on track and love the wine trick, meant that when friend popped in as arranged didn't need to feel guilty!
Love feeling good! Grin
Hope it lasts.....

Well done everyone - it seems like we are all on track. Joycey - I am very impressed by your kettle bells, they are painful! Spotty - gosh, I've never thought about how complicated insulin injunctions must be, especially when dieting!

My Monday went like this
Breakfast : oats mixed with museli
Lunch: salmon & cream cheese roll, kale crisps
Dinner: bean, wholemeal pasta & veg stew with salad
Snack: 2 plums
Supper: popcorn
Tea & coffee, lots of water, 2 half pints beer and 1 large glass of wine (catching up with a friend in the pub.. )
4 mile walk

Plan for today: no caffeine after 3, no alcohol (not working late or going out so no excuses!) & an evening run.

readyforsunshine · 14/04/2015 14:28

Hi all please can I join?
Started yesterday as I'd like to lose about 10lbs, 8 of which have crept on since the end of last summer. Since then I've lost & regained the same 4lbs many times through 'being good'. My aim is to return to sensible, healthy eating, but first I'm doing 3 days protein only to kick start me & cut the cravings. Feeling strong so far (day 2) Hmm & ready to support you all in your quest!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/04/2015 19:47

I've failed today BlushSad it's work that does it, I start at 6:45 on a Tuesday.

Breakfast: pâté on toast x2
Six cheddars
Cadburys mini roll
Four mini eggs
Three pieces of Tesco ready cooked chicken
Three coffees
Dinner: homemade lasagne, salad and three slices of buttered part baked baguette.

Oink. I'm too scared to put it into MFP.

Joycey29 · 14/04/2015 20:37

Don't worry Spotty, one day won't kill you and this is not a diet its a healthy change group so don't panic!

Right everyone, how do we get Spotty through a long days work? Ideas please Smile

Joycey29 · 14/04/2015 20:38

Hi Sunshine!
Talk me through the protein theory... Interested in it as friend mentioned it and had never heard of it
Grin

bangersmashandbeans · 14/04/2015 21:56

Spotty - options hot choc gets me through my sweet fix - 40 cals a mug and is really filling. Could try that at work? Also don't eat brekkie before you leave the house as you know you'll have another one mid morning! Make sure you take something decent to eat for brekkie at work?

Good day today though it was a struggle..
Half a banana and Greek yog
Small portion bulgar wheat salad
Homemade mackerel pate with toast
NO WINE!!

Finally getting back to the gym tomorrow and can't wait (how long will that last?!)

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 14/04/2015 22:10

I feel for you spotty - work is evil! It's usually stress and tiredness that sets me off (although when things are quiet I have a tendency to boredom eat also..). I just have to keep telling myself that NO a bag of crisps will NOT make this problem easier to deal with! Doesn't always work though...

Welcome sunshine!

Twinklestar2 · 14/04/2015 22:23

Hello everyone

Been a long day but managed to stick with it-ish.

Woke up feeling terrible - I don't think I hydrated well enough after my run yesterday.

I made some biscuits and had a couple... The last one is staring at me!

Twinklestar2 · 14/04/2015 22:24

Spotty I'm terrible for snacking at work which is why I'm trying to lose this weight while I'm on maternity leave!

Elfontheedge · 14/04/2015 22:27

Ok marking place for tomorrow for a lovely fresh start.
Start: 12:6
Goal: anything below 12 right now.
I seem to be stuck in a cycle of lose a couple, put it back on, rinse and repeat Sad

Joycey29 · 14/04/2015 22:29

Twinkle - stare it out! It's about wise choices - a couple was ok but the last one is greedy! Sad

OP posts:
Joycey29 · 14/04/2015 22:31

Elf - that's why we re here to break cycle of diets and make healthy changes.

No alcohol today despite manic day - feeling slightly better about all this Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 15/04/2015 06:07

Thanks Smile I find if I don't eat breakfast my sugar levels go up which is annoying. Also I can't eat anything proper at work (drs receptionist) so I just shove biscuits in my mouth Grin on the plus side I only work two days a week. I think I should take in healthy snacks instead. I do love cheddars though....!

readyforsunshine · 15/04/2015 07:13

Thanks for the welcome.
Spotty do you like Bircher muesli? I make it the night before in a jam jar leave it in the fridge, less time consuming in morning but fills me up. Also can eat on the go in the jar. Can put all sorts of goodies in it too.
Joyce, protein is really filling so stops me eating crap. Not healthy long term but seems to jolt me out of sugar / carb cravings & gets me back on track. I'll start including veg tomorrow & introduce fruit next week. Feeling in the zone finally! Another benefit is that it shifts a lot of weight fast which is motivating. Prob mostly water but it still means looser jeans. Am happy to report I'm 5 lbs down since my Monday morning weigh in. Have a good day everyone, this lovely sunshine is making it much easier, roll on summer & healthy bodies!
