Does anyone with 1-2st to lose fancy buddying up?

I'm 5ft 5 and am currently 10st 6lb. My clothes are feeling tight and I have stopped wearing jeans in favour of elasticated trousers which is a slippery slope for me.

To cut a long story short, I lost 3st after my twins were born 2.5 years ago. I felt a lot happier and more confident but it's beginning to creep back on as I lost the weight during my turbulent pregnancy so never had to address my bad eating habits. It's catching up with me now and I've put a stone back on and know if I don't address the problem now, it won't be long till the other 2+st is back.

I wondered whether anyone fancied buddying up and we can give each other a nudge, check in on how each other is doing?

Filo I'd be gnawing my own arm off at that point. Weekdays/work days are really hard compared to weekends as I'm up at 5 & don't get home till 5 too many hours way too many calories.

Ooh our numbers are growing, more motivation Smile

Can I join please? 5, 4 and ten stone 11 currently. my excuse is currently eating my boob. Had him three months ago so I think I need to gently start thinking about putting away the hobnobs and being more disciplined.

Ellisisland · 02/02/2015 18:35

Have changed my settings on mfp as well so people can see my food diary. Hoping that having others hold me to account will stop me having 3 portions of dinner ! Grin

Hi I am 11stone 8 and 5'4". I definitely have to lose 2 stone. I have done it before many times sadly but obviously I have failed to maintain. Each time I have another baby pile back the weight during and after pregnancy then eventually loose it. My youngest is now 3 and my excuses are officially gone, there will be no more babies. Sadly I have started already so I was heavier but I need to get this sorted once and for all.

Can i join? 5 ft 5 and 9 st 12 today (was 9 10 on Friday oops). Down from 11 st about a year ago, but been stuck at between 10 4 - 10 2 for about 3 months. Made it under 10 by basically not eating more than 1000 cal for a few weeks but not hugely sustainable! Trying to avoid jumping up again.

Although been stuck here or thereabouts since i was 14, ideal weight for my shape is about 8 st 7 or so. By April would be ideal!

Mainly trying to do calorie counting and 7 min exercise ap failing at that!

waves to the new people! Congratulations tipsey, I wish we could still have our hob nobs and be skinny.

once sounds like you've done well so far, 1000cals is tough going. Have you going to try any diet in particular to try and shift the bit you have to lose, or go for the move more eat less? I can't wait to see the 9 bracket again!

I haven't heard of the jawbone, I'm going to have a look at that now, as I've been toying with getting a Fitbit.

I've been surprisingly good today, except for my lack of walking 100 trips back and forth to the bathroom must add up to something right I usually find the days that I'm stuck in with the kids the most challenging as I get bored so mindlessly eat but I've stuck to my meals today and have about 300cals left. I'm sitting down to plan my meals for tomorrow!

How are you finding each other on the mfp app. I have never done the friends thing.

anothernumberone · 02/02/2015 19:43

I think I found it in case anyone gets a friend request from me I am isaacnewton on mfp.

FiloFunky · 02/02/2015 19:44

i may well resort to eating my arm. come home DP!

anothernumberone · 02/02/2015 19:49

Sorry to anyone I tried to add as a friend on mfp. I did not see the option to let you know who I am. Do you hit dismiss once you have sent the request. It kind of seems like you are cancelling it.

MillieMoodle · 02/02/2015 19:57

Woah - absolutely love my jawbone thing, it's great! Definitely encourages me to move more and makes me more aware of what I'm eating and how I'm sleeping!

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 02/02/2015 20:53

Anothernumber I think it just means you're dismissing the message sayng request sent.

anothernumberone · 02/02/2015 20:57

Ok that sounds fine thanks heffa

Woahbodyforrrrm · 02/02/2015 22:34

This is my first day in months, that not one single piece of rubbish food has passed my lips! I'm going for a day out in London on the 28/02 with my best friend. I've made a deal with myself that if I lose a good few lbs by then, I will treat myself to some nice bits for spring. I really need some new clothes as mine are so old, so definitley seems like a fair deal!

How're you all doing today?

wasnt too bad yesterday. found it hard not to snack though. its when im home alone thats the hardest time.

managed to eat a small bowl of cereal to get my digestive system going. eating breakfast is quite alien to me!

Ellisisland · 03/02/2015 09:44

Not a great start today as instead of my normal porridge I just had a glass of water as we headed out the door to take DS to nursery.
Has 2 sandwich thins with Humous just now. Planning on having last nights bean chilli for lunch. Not sure about dinner yet. Am veggie and allergic to dairy so that limits my options a bit. Might have pasta and homemade pesto or something.
Have done a 30 minute workout and will try and do some more later if 6 week old DS lets me put him down Smile

Woahbodyforrrrm · 03/02/2015 12:49

I'm like that filo I don't know whether it's bordom or the fact that there's no one there to see me stuff my face!

I'm. It good with breakfast, aside from the fact that it's manic here in the mornings (kids are 7,3,2,2) I just don't feel like eating early, the idea makes me feel queasy.

Ah ellis it is hard fitting in exercise when they're little so well done! I love those sandwich thins too!

I just had lightly dusted sole with a baked potato and salad for lunch. Then my OH calls me and reminds me it's curry night at our local pub. It's homemade and not at all oily. So I'm hoping if I snack on fruit and save my remaining 700cals that should cover a small plateful. My OH is such a feeder!

lunch consumed. 665 calories left for the day!

Ellisisland · 03/02/2015 17:04

woah that lunch looks yummy !

I failed today as was at my mums and starving and she only had snack bars to eat so had one of those. 200 cals in a tiny bar!

After dinner tonight I will be about 40 cals over my 1200 daily allowance.

Also randomly I was watching Secret Eaters on More4 earlier (the joys of maternity leave Wink ) and I noticed that they were saying that the average woman needs 2000 calories a day. That sounded a lot to me ? I was thinking it would be more like 1500?

Woahbodyforrrrm · 03/02/2015 19:39

Don't you hate that, I had a blip and shoved about 8 Percy pigs in my mouth in the space of one minute and when I logged them it came to 250cals Angry So I have 252 cals left for my dinner which I was going to struggle to account for as I'm not making it, but thought I'd have enough if I hadn't of got greedy.

I'm surprised that it's 2000cals, when MFP has put me on 1200 I should be dropping lbs left right and centre!

OnceMoreAgainWithFeeling · 03/02/2015 21:12

Been ok for the last few days, averaging about 1000 cal. Down a lb which is good!

On terms of calorie levels- the average woman with light/no activity has a basic metabolic rate of about 1300 cal - the calories burnt by literally staying alive. walking 10,000 steps (the minimum for 'health') burns about 350 calories a day, i make that just by commuting and walking around the office (on a lazy bugger). So one on a lightish day burns about 1700-1800 cal just by living - not including exercise or walking to the shops etc. So for 'moderate activity', eg owning a small person, or a dog, a person needs about 2000 to stay at the same weight or gain a few lb over a year.

Limiting to 1200 cal therefore will mean a net burn, on a moderate/light activity level, of about 500 cal a day - adding up to 7,000 cal a week - which is 2 lb of fat (1 lb=3,500 cal)

This is why 2 lb a week is the recommended weight loss - it is basically meaning one consumes what one 'needs' and 'pays' for their walking and other exercise from fat reserves.

OnceMoreAgainWithFeeling · 03/02/2015 21:20

Adding up to 3,500 a week even, which is a lb not 2, i doubled that for some reason! Need sleep.

The extra 500 a day for 2 lb a week loss needs to come from more exercise - which is why 2lb is recommended!
