This is going to be the year I finally lose weight

My youngest child is 2 and I'm not having anymore so I need to sort myself out. I am 5ft 4 and weigh 11st 9lbs (I was 11 st 2 at the beginning of December). I want to be 9st 4lbs but would be happy to be in the healthy BMI range so anything below 10st 6lbs.
I have discovered fitness blender on YouTube/Facebook so plan on trying to do one of their videos 5 days a week. Food wise I need to cut the crap so no biscuits/crisps/chocolate . I will try to eat tea with the children, normally we put them to bed and then eat afterwards which means we are not eating until 8pm and then I won't exercise.
I'm envisaging
Breakfast - overnight oats or omelette cupcakes
Lunch - ham/chicken salad, soup or omelette
Dinner - chicken/fish with veg
I will try not to snack but if I do then I will snack on carrot sticks/rice cakes and houmous.
I know I need to up my water intake and reduce the wine so will be doing dry January.
My husband wants to get healthy too which makes me hopeful that this will be the year it happens!
Anybody else want to join me?

Hi zing, I did 5:2 for December- actually it was ok, my DH is sometimes away for 1-2 days per week and it was easier to do it on those days as less around to tempt me. I only stopped as I fell off the wagon at christmas but I def lost a few pounds. I found dinner time for the dc very hard (but this is a terrible time for me generally, diet wise/ I pick at their food as I'm cooking it, "try it out" etc etc, and one or 2 days I left it til the evening to eat and I was in a FOUL mood and took it out on the boys which was pretty unfair!

I decided to calorie count this time instead of 5;2 as I thought I was more likely to make a lifestyle change that way- reduce snacking, reduce meal sizes etc.

Well here's hoping, anyway!!

Morning all Smile

Right - first weigh-in

Start weight 12st2
Current weight 12st0

Bit disappointed TBH - I know I could have lost twice that if I'd stepped away from the cheese in the evenings. I hope this will spur me on to focus a bit more this week. Looking forward to hearing how everyone else is getting on.

ZingTheGreat · 12/01/2015 10:23

I weighed in too

new starting weight is 79.9kg

i had eggs, ham, tomatoes and otacakes for breakfast - to get away from jam toast/biscuits habits.

ZingTheGreat · 12/01/2015 10:25

sipping fruit tea. no sugar or honey

AppleSnapple · 12/01/2015 10:56

Gertrude- 2lb is great- very sensible too and an achievable amount to hope to lose weekly!

After my juicing fiasco I lost 4lb after 2 days, (then stopped) so slightly disappointed to see that for the whole week I've lost 4.5lb but I suppose the juice loss was probably replaced quite quickly once I started eating again.
So- starting weight, 12st6.5lb (I have a very precise scales!)
Today 1 wk on... 12st2lb.

Fingers crossed next week might even go under 12 stone... For the first time in a loooooong time, bring it on!!!

Good luck all

I'm feeling a bit better this morning, I've put this weekend's curry takeaway, roast dinner and wine behind me....I've had weetabix and banana for brekkie this morning and for lunch I'm having salad, cottage cheese and sweetcorn. It's chilli con carne for tea, I'll have a small portion.

I'm going to try really hard to pick myself back up after each fall. I've been watching Fat:The Fight of My Life with Jesse Pavelka, he's so inspirational. (and I break into a sweat just looking at him).

LostInMusic · 12/01/2015 13:15

Well done to everyone who has lost weight this week! Smile
I've lost 1.5 lbs, which I'm pleased with as I've only very slightly cut down.
I'm feeling very positive now and am ready to really crack on with it this week!

Donthackmenow · 12/01/2015 17:30

I lost 4lbs but typically have then had a bad day today. I haven't been able to resist munching on biscuits and actually feel about queasy now. I'm not sure I will be able to eat any tea so that might redress the balance but I must try harder tomorrow- this will be made a lot easier if I actually have a stomach bug!!

Well done everyone on the losses. I am thinking about doing it as a count down so 4lb lost 32 to go Grin

Hi all. Have been super busy so haven't had time to post. Well done to everyone who lost pounds. I'm a bit down only lost half a pound this week. I thought it would be better so starting weight - 12st 13, current weight 12st 12.5. At least it is in the right direction. Have realised over the weekend the I was eating meals designed for 2 by myself so no mystery as to where the weight gain has come from.

AlwaysWashing · 13/01/2015 19:42

Dates are my new friend! Left over from Christmas dates, just one or two with a cuppa in the evening instead of biscuits or chocolate. They're sweet enough to convince me that I'm having something a bit naughty - I am a bit thick sometimes but it's working!

ZingTheGreat · 13/01/2015 20:20

well done on all weight losses.

i have done ok-ish the last 2 days. And gave away barely started pot of brandy cream.
mince pies, crisps not replaced and biscuits polished by kids and will not be replaced.

DH was so sweet and offered to do a diet with me, funnily enough he suggested the 5:2 diet.Smile
but having read a bit about it I don't think it is something I'm willing to do while I'm breastfeeding.

I think I just have to concentrate on little changes for now - cutting down not cutting out and substitutes.
I had one slice of toast for breakfast instead of too.
I had an orange as a snack and one biscuit with morning coffee not 5.
I had a few crackers and a spoonful of grated cheese with soup instead of 2 cheese on toasts as usual.
and so on.
I know it doesn't sound much, but I'm hoping these things will make a difference over time. should do!

I'm aiming for 1 or 2 lbs loss/week.

I also remembered to take my vitamins and drink a bit more water.

AppleSnapple · 13/01/2015 20:50

The universe is trying to tell me to diet. I've had a bad day today and just reached for a bag of crisps in the kitchen cupboard. Only to find a hole in the bottom... And some mice droppings........ Shock Shock Shock Shock
Confused Confused
[vomit face] I'm afraid although it kept me away from the crisps (for life) I am now necking a big glass of wine Grin

ZingTheGreat · 13/01/2015 22:05

Apple

AppleSnapple · 13/01/2015 22:43

I sound like I live in an absolute cesspit, don't i?! I dont, just an occupational hazard of living in the country and keeping the doors open too much. Have spent evening blitzing the place and will hit the shops in the morning for poison, guns etc to get the little buggers (no live and let live attitude here I tell you)

aaaaaaaanyway Zing I think that sounds great- surely a more realistic way to lose weight is to cut down rather than feel miserable by cutting out things then have a bad day and eat your way through the cupboards? (I do of course mean me, not you... I'm not suggesting you would do that ??)

I think having a small amount of things you like, in moderation, is the way forward. I too am aiming for 1-2lb a week- that's somewhere between 1 and 2 stone loss by April... Pretty good when you think of it like that!

ZingTheGreat · 13/01/2015 22:49

Apple

eating my way through the contents of cupboards and fridge and freezer oh no, never!

if you want to play "whose house is a bigger tip" I'm in!Grin
(and sour victory shall be mine)

AppleSnapple · 13/01/2015 22:51

Ha ha ha ok- have you had mice eating your crisps (and ryvita- perhaps they're dieting too?) today? And pooing in your cupboard?

NO?

Ok I win Grin

AppleSnapple · 13/01/2015 22:52

And I threw out a jar of decaf coffee from 2008 in the ensuing clear out Grin

ZingTheGreat · 13/01/2015 22:58

DD pooing on bed then jumping in it, then walking across carpet surely beats a few little rodent droppingsWink

AppleSnapple · 13/01/2015 23:37

Holy shitbags. Ok. You win!!!! Grin

ZingTheGreat · 14/01/2015 00:14

I could go on...

but will accept gold medal instead, gracefully

Donthackmenow · 14/01/2015 05:46

Eurgh Apple poor u, that is pretty gross but as aversion therapy I imagine it will work quite well.

zing I think that sounds like a very sensible approach! I am really struggling this week, I have been back at the biscuits and I really need to refocus on my goals (after only 1 week, I have no willpower Blush).

AppleSnapple · 15/01/2015 12:04

Well... How is the week going? I had a bit of a wobble earlier in the week (mousegate and all that) but back on track now with mfp. It's tricky enough sticking to 1200 Cals but I'm sure lots of my eating is just habit so I'm trying to break it! I slept through my alarm this morn so missed my 30 day shred dvd this morn but will do it this eve once the boys are in bed. I'm bloody freezing today- I'm flattering myself that I must have less fat to keep me warm compared with last week Grin Grin

I haven't noticed any diff in clothes being looser etc yet. But it's early days... We need to think of the long game!!

ZingTheGreat · 15/01/2015 12:22

I had some crumpets earlier and had the willpower to have only a tiny amount of butter enough for one bite, just for the taste, instead of drowning the crumpets..and then ate the rest with some honey.

it's those sort of changes I need

I had Heinz "Farmer's Market" Butternut squash soup for lunch - it is delicious.
during the week I just don't have the time to make soup from scratch, so again I figured it is better to have ready made then none at all and ending up with cheese on toast.

I think this approach will work. And as it's the very high fat foods that make me feel sick and cause digestion troubles I have an incentive to avoid/reduce them.

hope everyone is successful and I really recommend that soup (Butternut squash, sweet potatoes, apple & ginger. delicious)

Ifyoubuildittheywillcome · 15/01/2015 21:02

Hi everyone, it's IKillPlants here! I decided to embrace my feelings of motivation and name change to something more positive because this is the year! Have been busy so only logging on now and hope that Mousegate gets resolved Apple. Apparently they like chocolate too... Grin
I have kept within my calories all week but a few sugary snacks have just been too tempting to resist. Week two is harder... Weigh-in on Sunday morning so I hope that the next two days of being angelic will bring a little result.
Zing that soup sounds delish, am definitely going to try it.

ZingTheGreat · 15/01/2015 22:18

anyone who is interested in doing some excercise I recommend Jillian Michaels' 30 day Shred DVD.

she had a webchat today on MN and was utterly fantastic and inspirational - it makes a very useful reading
